So, I was out last night at Bed,Bath and Beyond w/ my uncle who wanted to look for something (I am never in there) and wallah.. they had an Instant pot(ish) on sale- 6qt was 99.00 for 69.00 (no, I didn't have a coupon to make it even better) . So, he always gives me a little bit of $$ for Christmas and I asked if he would go in half w/ me for my Christmas present. So now I am a proud owner.
My question to you all.............................. I am looking for your favorite websites to get recipes. It is mostly just me cooking for myself but I don't mind cooking a full recipe and freezing leftovers- I have my brother most weekends so that's good too in terms of amount of food cooked.
One question I do have as I didn't see this in the book- when you use the slow cooker mode does it actually take the normal slow cooking time or is it actually faster than normal slow cookers?
looking forward to the experience

Congrats! I love my IP Most 6 quart ones use the same size rings and things as the Instant Pot brand, so hit up amazon for a set of replacement rings (trust me: you do not want chicken broth scented anything! and the rings retain the odors). My go-to for info and some recipes is Hip Pressure Cooking but pinterest has so many good recipe links as well:)

Adding this: if you have a kindle - go to amazon and search "instant pot recipes" in the kindle section, and change the way it sorts to "lowest price". There are usually a lot of free ones (some are bad but they're free so just delete the bad ones lol). Adding one more resource lol: Pressure Luck on youtube

I 2nd DotRen's nomination of: Hip Pressure CookingI also like: Pressure Luckand This Old GalAs for the seals, I haven't ever had the odor from the seal transfer to any food so, personally, I don't keep multiple seals on hand. The slow cooker modes are like a normal slow cooker; however, the IP has THREE temperatures—low, medium, and high. I inquired about how their temperatures compared to standard Crock Pots and got the following info: Slow cook temperatures: - More mode: 93~99°C/200~210°F (High in a common slow cooker) - Normal mode: 87.8~93°C/190-200°F (Medium in a common slow cooker) - Less mode: 82-87.8°C/180-190°F (Low in a common slow cooker)

One more thing: If you're going to slow cook in the IP, you may want to pick up a glass lid that fits it and use that instead of the pressure lid. This link at Amazom has the lid, relatively inexpensive, and two extra seals to boot! IP Accessories @ Amazon
