Got second dose last Tuesday, felt fluish for 24 hours then fine. Glad it's done! Volunteering tomorrow and next week. finreporter , good for you for using your wits and sleuthyness to get your dose! I started volunteering at our super site because I knew I'd get it faster, but turns out I really like volunteering so it was a win win!

surfgirl, 10% of Californians have received both doses of vax. Welcome to the club. Good on you for volunteering! And finding out you want to stick with it even after vaccination.

I got my second shot this morning. It was a drive through clinic and we drove in right up to the nurse, got my shot, and then waited 15 minutes. Sure was easy.

lani, So far except for a sore arm I feel fine. After the first shot I was feeling very achy until about noon the next day. Feel relieved I've gotten both shots. When this started in February I felt overwhelmed and anxious and feel great it worked out so well.

My husband and I both have our eye on it. The closest I know of in Ohio is about 2 hours away.

Yesterday all adults in Connecticut became eligible to be vaccinated and 100,000 appointments were made.

Things are really opening up here in NY. My county has "POD"s which are "Points of Distribution" sites that run according to how many vaccines they get. You do have to pre-register but very often it is a same-day registration and they will send texts out when they have an overabundance of vaccines available. Pharmacies seem to be amply supplied too and private doctors' offices are starting to announce that they have availability.
The two big VA health centers near me are now walk-in for ALL veterans, not just for those receiving care at veterans facilities. And now they added the spouses and caregivers of veterans and those receiving CHAMP-VA benefits (healthcare for eligible widows and family members of veterans).
We are all done with ours having received our second shots almost three weeks ago.
A little sad that the country, as a whole, seems to be jumping the gun with opening up things. I have a horrible feeling that it's all going to go to crap soon. Look at Europe, shutting down again.

My husband and I both have our eye on it. The closest I know of in Ohio is about 2 hours away. I have a friend in Michigan who was determined to get the J&J and dug her heels in. Numerous opportunities for the two other vaccines were available and she didn't accept the appointments. After weeks of refusing, she and her husband finally broke down and got their first Pfizer shots the other day. They could have been all done with everything already if they had gone for the two-shot regimen from the beginning as both were eligible to receive the vaccine very early in the game. With the recent difficulties at a J&J factory and the uptick in the cases of the more virulent COVID variants I think the best thing to do would be to just take whatever is available. Only one person I know has been able to get the J&J---all of the others (including myself and scores of my healthcare friends) have gotten either the Moderna or Pfizer and many are now completely vaccinated. None have gotten Covid. Most of the J&J doses in our area are being reserved for distribution to private doctors' offices and nursing homes. Not sure what they are doing in other areas but that does seem to make sense to me, considering the easier storage requirements of the J&J vaccine.

Hi guys, just to check in since you guys are amazeballs (to use my friend Reggie's word) and were so sweetly concerned with my well-being given that LA is a hotspot of germy 'rona, I managed to become a successful vaccine "leftover" hunter. Hey Fin---good to see you here. I've been MIA for a while too, mostly because of a crappy laptop but to be honest I felt a need for a break. Some of the posts on this board were infuriating me just a wee bit too much (Covid-behavior related) and it was better that I backed away, especially after a few glasses of Gewurztraminer. Hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy and weathering the storm well.
