I just rejoined WW this past weekend, and the leader said there are no more activity points that can up your point value? So we just earn fit points but never use any?
when I lost weight on WW before, I used Core, and I will almost certainly follow whatever the current Core-like alternative (Simply Filling?) is now. But then, I ate every activity point and every weekly point, and still lost successfully. Thoughts? How do you handle activity points now?

cindyxela , oh for Pete's sake what a ninny your leader is!!! Absolutely not true and I hate when leaders make their own tweaks and spread them around! The website explains them, I am going to go check the walk through on how to find it for you. Living > scroll to bottom > help > frequently asked questions > fitpoints I personally set my tracker to subtract from fitpoints first instead of weeklies. It encourages me to move more, I know it is all just a head game We have a very active simply filling board here so make sure to check it out and swing by the general board too! Glad you found us, welcome back!

Thanks, DebDoesWW! I will check out the FAQs! It didn't sound quite right to me, so I am glad I asked!

cindyxela no problem! That website is a scavenger hunt in itself, feel free to check back if you have any questions. Not sure when you previously did WW and how they were handling them at the time, but now they give you a "baseline" for the day. Mine is 3, so the first 3 don't count towards the tracking but anything above 3 gets used if go above my points for the day. Example I get 36 daily (maintenance) and say I earn 6 fitpoints. Since the first three don't count I would have 3 to use if I needed them, so I could use 39 points. They are good for the week, but don't roll over, just like weeklies don't. You can set it up over on the website under account settings however you want to do it.

Welcome cindyxela.I have never used my Fit Points but now that I'm more active I might start using them.I think my baseline is the first 2 I earn a day but not sure about that.

I always eat every single SP, WP and FP that comes my way and always have. I was still able to lose and have more or less maintained (I sometimes get more than 2 lbs. over goal, like now) for almost 5 years now.

I almost never use my Fit Points, but I do like to see them accrue and like to know they're available for a special occasion, if necessary. I've done WW with meetings only and online only and I think it's very unfair to not have Fit Points fully explained in the written materials for meetings. DebbDoesWW's example is spot-on. The only thing I might add is that depending on what your goal weight is, the amount deducted for Fit Points Available to Eat could go down to 1 or 2; it's never more than 3.
Since I quit paying for online and meetings, I may never know when or if that number changes for me.

DebDoesWW , I get enraged by that too.
Just Monday a new member asked this very same question in my meeting and our leader said the same thing: FitPoints are there to earn for the feeling of satisfaction and we really don't want you to eat them. I politely raised my hand, then took her to task and, finally, pointed out that FitPoints come with a daily baseline of 3 to 5 points and that only those earned exceeding the baseline are awarded by the tracker for use for food.
Frankly, knowing all the many rules for WW employees, I think making these blanket, untruthful statements on behalf of WW should be grounds for immediate dismissal. This isn't generally a lack of understanding, it is a personal judgment not supported by WW officially!

Ugh zazzles! I agree, it drives me nuts and then their meeting members go spouting it off all over the internet. One of the reasons I gave up on connect, the misinformation is awful and when you point them to the correct info on the website, they STILL argue. Glad you educated her, unbelievable.

It is funny because my leader told me that I shouldn't really be eating my fit points.
I hadn't read the new program yet but was thinking, "Hmmmm...MyFitnessPal lets me eat them. Maybe I'll head over there to journal." I like the idea of being able to use them as a cushion if I eat a little extra. I'm going to set up my tools to subtract from Fitpoints first. It is kind of a mental game for me, but I like earning those fit points but if they aren't any use then I'm not as inspired (right now at least as I'm a couch potato unless Esme harasses me to get up or the vet fat shames her) to get up and move. Looking ahead, Esme will lose her 5lbs or so before I lose my 100lbs so it is better for me to not use exercising her as my incentive to move. But thinking, "Hey, these 5 miles might buy me a treat at the end of the week." motivates me (even if I don't end up deciding to splurge and eat a candy bar or whatever).4

I am a big believer in being able to eat FitPoints. I do think the baseline is a reasonable thing. There are people who can earn FitPoints (beyond the baseline even) but are not otherwise active and if they eat all their FitPoints they don't lose. I live in a 1 story house and work from home and my hobbies involve mostly sitting. If I just go through a day without making effort to have activity I can easily walk under 2000 steps. Now, let's say I sit all day and then get on the treadmill for 45 minutes and earn 4 FitPoints nad I get 1 for the rest of the day. Theoretically I've earned 2 FitPoints that I can eat. But, because I was so inactive the rest of the day I haven't really burned a lot of calories. In that situation, eating all my FitPoints isn't a good idea.
But...the thing is that I'll quickly figure that out if I don't lose. And, most people aren't that inactive (and I try not to be). Also, some people really need to eat their FitPoints for extra fuel for their body if they do heavy exercise. I've seen some people who do a lot of running and burn insane amounts of calories thinking they can't eat FitPoints and wondering why they are starving all the time. Their bodies need more calories than I need.
So, I think that having the flexibility to use them is very important. In the past, I've toyed with eating only my FitPoints and not my Weekly Points. Currently, I eat Weekly Points first but will eat some of the FitPoints I've earned on occasion.

Well, the big push at WW is to NOT eat them.
They tell you that you can, but always in some phrase like this:
"They're there if you need them, but the results without them are awesome!"
So most people forget they were ever told they could eat them at all.

irisinnia, When Beyond the Scale came out, WW in its written materials discouraged eating FitPoints. They said you could but would discourage it. Then they softened, especially after they put in the baseline you have to earn before you can swap (which I think is a good idea. Now, the FAQ starts with "In a nutshell:do what works for you." The write up is fairly even handed basically to do it if it works for you and don't do it if you aren't getting results you want. That said, I've seen some leaders who are much more negative than what is currently on the WW page. It is like they didn't get the memo about the change in tone or about how there is a now a baseline. I like having the flexibility to eat them

Thanks for tip about FP. My meeting didn't explain I can set to use them instead of weeklies. I have only been using 15-20 wp, but like there to be an option.
