CJ, that's one of the reasons I don't like Joann's. They don't honor coupons for sale or doorbuster items. They also, when you order online, add a $1.99 handling fee and when there is so called free shipping they still charge that handling fee. It really strikes me as false advertising. There is no Joann store here so if I want their yarn I have to order online. Anyway, I'm glad you were not only able to find the pillow forms you need but he Christmas fabric you wanted. Are you making the pillows for Christmas gifts for your family?
Ginny, I hope you're feeling better today. It's getting late in the day there so hopefully you are ok
I've been crocheting on the afghan and also looking for a couple fast ones to do just to make sure I have enough for everyone even if it turns out that it isn't the one a picked for each particular person. There are only two like that. One is going to be for my oldest grandson and his fiancee and the other for my dd (ok and her husband). The rest are just going to be a "pick the one you want" blankets.
It was warm today and I think we're going to have one more warm day and that's it.

Good evening! CJ, I’m really happy you were able to find the pillow forms that you needed and the Christmas fabric you were interested in. That’s great but I know it’s frustrating to deal with Joanne sometimes and when you hope you can use their coupon it doesn’t seem to work. Are you done with rain now?
Ruth, I’m just fine, and thanks to CJ too. My aches are over and done with pretty much. It was just a day or two of doing way too much. Ruth, well hats are a great way to use up leftover yarn as you will know. And yes I find that dollar 99 service fee for Joanne‘sVery frustrating also.
Today was just a busy day between working and I had practice tonight at church. But I’m home now and I’m looking forward to what I hope will be a quiet weekend. I did get the binding attached today and now just have to figure out how I’m going to finish it off tomorrow. it will take me so much less time if I finish it by machine but I know it’ll look better if I finish it by hand. Have a good night and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and having nice weather. It's sunny here and windy with temps in the 60s. Ruth - I'm glad you are getting some crocheting done and I hope that you find another fast pattern to make your gifts for family. I'm keeping the pillows for myself. Ginny - Hope that you get some rest this weekend and that you figure out how to finish the binding. This morning I remade that one Moda Blockheads block that I didn't like, and I still have the three blocks to make for this week. And I cut the fabrics for the last block of the Sunny Patches quilt along. I already have most of the quilt top together so as soon as I make the block I can get the top done. Here's a link to see the last block: corianderquilts.com/sunny-patches-bom-sunny-ohio-star-block-quilt-top-finishing/I also made the three pillow covers and I'm happy with those (pictures are of the front and the backs). It's so nice to get to display these quilt blocks that I probably never would have used. When I go through all my orphan blocks, maybe I'll find some more that I can make into pillow covers. After I finished those I made some large (12 inch) half square triangles that I'm going to use to make a tree shape to go around the blocks I'm making for Pat Sloan's quilt along. I had thought about using alternating red and green tree pieces, but I think the red/white snowflake fabric looks better on it's own. I'm going to add a tree trunk with two presents under the tree and two star blocks in the upper right and left corners. It's going to be a large quilt - 72x72 and I really think it needs borders, but I'm not sure about that - guess I'll decide once the top is done - I still need to make the last 4 blocks from the quilt along, and make another one to fill in the center of the tree. Hope you get to do some crafting this weekend too

Gee CJ- you were busy!!! The pillows are lovely and I am really glad you are keeping them for yourself to enjoy. Are you pleased with how the blockheads block turned out?
Busy day….ended up going to Joanns with Dd to pick up a sewing machine for DGD (the one I took to quilting class). DD and I had a good time getting supplies for her, and DD found some sweet patterns for $1.99 which will be easy for DGD to work on. The machine is a Janome (VERY reasonable) and has some entry level features for quilters. Yes, the panel quilt is done. I took a picture and will be giving it to my friends husband this evening when we are all getting together.
Ruth - what are you working on?
Sorry to be short… see you tomorrow.

I am back….went out last night to celebrate with my friends their anniversary. They are wonderful friends and have supported me greatly in the past almost 4 years.
CJ- I see you made the pillows with the envelope closure, which is great!! I am thinking that you can turn other orphan quilt blocks into pillow covers and change your decor as you like. A very sweet way to see your beautiful blocks and enjoy them, and even change the decor in several rooms. I checked out the Coriander quilts site, seeing the final block which is adorable. Its a very cheery quilt and I do agree with the designer that it would make a lovely quilt to snuggle under for Christmas. Your adorable Christmas tree quilt? The red snowflake fabric is perfect to use for the tree. At the moment my I would love to see the dark green fabric as a small border, followed by a red border (maybe 4 inches wide_ Of course you will do what you like with this pretty quilt. And I figure you are hoping to avoid another fabric purchase.
I did give my friends husband the quilt last night….glad its out of my hands and in his and he said he really liked it. Back to the baby quilt today.
Ruth how is your weather holding up? You mentioned that you were going to have one last warm day…I do hope that you found some quick and easy afghan patterns . I have a dumb question for you. Do you have a favorite pattern for an afghan, one that sticks in your mind for being the one afghan that you like more than all the others?
Better get in the shower. G

CJ, I'm glad you're keeping those pillows. They are beautiful. I love the Christmas tree quilt. If it's the one that's 72x72 or whatever the large dimensions you mentioned, I'd say you probably are not going to quilt it yourself but it sure would be a great quilt.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to finish your panel quilt and were able to give it to your friend last evening.. I'm sure your dgd will be happy to have a sewing machine of her own. She will be able to make some cute things.
Yesterday was a bit busier than usual for me. I needed to help dh get some things into the garage for winter storage and did a little cleaning up out there. Did some things inside too then got to some crocheting.
Today is actually our last day of warm weather. Next weekend we are forecast to have highs in 30's and at night drop to 19 both nights. I think it's a little early to have such cold weather and with the weird weather that occurred over the summer who knows what the rest of the winter will be.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you were able to give your friend's husband the quilt and that he liked it. Hope you can get to the baby quilt today. Ruth - Sorry to hear your weather is going to get so cold next week, I hope you get some warmer weather again after that. Thanks for your comments on the Christmas tree layout. I think I've decided I won't do that with the blocks I'm making, but I like my layout and idea so much that I may try it with different fabrics and blocks that are smaller. I really didn't want to make a 72x72 or larger quilt. I saw some cute blocks that look like Christmas ornaments and it would be fun to make those and have them inside the tree. I have another idea for a layout for the Pat Sloan blocks, so I'll see if I like that. This morning I finished my Sunny Patches block and put the quilt top together. I already had most of it together since August, so it was quick to finish. The fabric is pretty and bright and the white fabric is really cute close up with flowers and bumble bees. This quilt top is 69x69. I also finished this week's three Moda Blockheads blocks, so I'm caught up with those. I hope I can work on some of my hand binding later today. Hope you get to do some crafting today too. Take care!

Ruth, glad you are ok….and just getting ready for winter. Yes, that is a process - something I have been doing little by little each weekend.. Are you and Dh done with your winterization process? it sure does sound like you are skipping fall and going straight into winter. Glad to hear that you got some crochet time in! What project are you working on?
CJ- you have been busy!! The Moda blocks are pretty!!! Think I like the one on the left the best but they are all so nice. And wow, great job on the Sunny Patches quilt! So bright and cheery!! I forget, do you have plans to quilt that top?
Busy day….and it took me later than normal to get out of church this am. I had some paperwork to take care of here, and reenrollment in insurance was one of them. Got that done and I am glad it’s over with. My concern was that the rest of this week would get so busy and I would not have time or forget to do that. It’s done now. Gotta write out two sympathy cards now….and then will try to straighten up my craft room for a few minutes. That is as close as I will get to crafting today.
