Hello Thanks for all your kind words and thoughts for me. I know eventually it will be nice to be in the new place, things are just so hectic and exhausting right now though. I've been doing most of the moving of boxes myself so I didn't bother my family. They did come once bringing their van to take some of the bigger heavier pieces and I'll be hiring a moving company to move some big pieces of furniture. I really wanted to try not to take too much with me, but as time has gone on I'm just tired of packing and moving boxes so I've been taking things I'll probably have to get rid of at the new house. I can't believe how much is in my sewing room!! I've already taken a car load of things and I probably have at least two more car loads to take! The rental house is about 25 miles from where I live now so I've been driving up and down the road alot. I do have family that only lives about 12 miles from the new place, so I'll be closer to them. It's such a relief to get out of this house with all it's problems and I'll be really happy once we can get it sold. Whoever buys it is going to have to gut the place to put all new plumbing and electrical in, everything is so old. Thanks for understanding if I can't post each day. I'm really tired tonight, but I forced myself to finish my Christmas cards so I can get them to the post office tomorrow. I'm also donating an old car, so I have that to take care of too. And I'm only just starting with getting my address changed at all the places I need to do that. I hope I survive all of this Take care

CJ, I meant to thank you for telling us about your moving. Yes moving is really hard. It's a lot of work and unbelievably stressful physically. mentally and emotionally. I know you can do this though. Once you're in your new home and all the moving and paperwork is done you'll be able to relax and enjoy being in a safer home and having no major repairs, yard work etc to worry about.I hope your current house sells easily and fast so you don't have to be concerned about that.
Well we had an exhausting day. We went to two grocery stores and they both overcharged us, one by just over $20 and the other almost $30 and I'm pretty sure that wasn't actually the full amount. We spent a lot of time getting those things straightened out esp at the second store. We were at the service desk for at least a half hour waiting for the woman to get things worked out and as I said I'm pretty sure she didn't get all the overcharges right.
I plan to just relax for the rest of the day.
Ginny you definitely are not a nag. I still haven't heard from the dgs about the tree skirt.

OH Ruth, that is so darned frustrating that not one but two stores messed up your orders! And a total of $50 is a lot of money to be overcharged. So glad you and Dh caught that, but how irritating to have to waste so much time to get it all straightened out. Exhausting, you bet! Were you able to relax and crochet later on?
CJ- no you are absolutely NOT being a problem hereā¦me too, I am just so glad that you have found some place to move to and are able to do that. Moving is HARD work and I bet you are so tired at the end of the day. Ruth and I have been here with you through the problems you have had in recent years with your present home, and if I can be so bold as to also speak for Ruth, we only want the best for you and for you to be happy and safe. The big question is, is your new home closer to Joanns and Hobby lobby? Ha ha ha. I am so glad that you have family that is a short distance from the house. Got any idea when you hope to be totally moved in? And not to be discouraging, but my DD #2 moved in late Augustā¦remember she was pregnant and has a toddler. I told her that the last night I would go over to help get the house finally straightened up and ready to hand over to the new owner. Yikesā¦.while the house was mostly empty, it still needed a lot of work. That is the conundrum of movingā¦itās a lot of work. take your time un packingā¦.and as far as your present house, you are selling it āas isā and let it go. I had to do that with my momās house when I sold it- knowing full well which elements needed eventual replacing and that that would fall on the new owner. Glad you are getting help with the moveā¦believe me if Ruth and I lived closer we would be helping or at least bringing over a tray of Christmas cookies to help celebrate your new home. And take your time setting up in the new home! Get things unpacked at your own pace so that its all just as you wanted. I do get it, that you will be moving things that you will probably just donate anyway. My Dd (and I arrange the charity pick up for my two DDās and myself) is still donating stuff that she moved and figured out that she did not need. Guess that is commonā¦
Wrote Christmas cards last nightā¦so no crafting other than looking at Janes pillow and seeing that I have some threads to clip. Will take care of that today.

CJ, I'm sure your family doesn't mind helping although I don't know them. I know you don't want to impose on them but usually families are willing to help. Are you selling your house "as is", That's how I intend to sell mine. Mine was built in 1980 so is not all that old as houses go but it does have some issues and I'm sure any new owner would want to update a lot. And as far as moving things that really didn't need to be moved, I have things still in boxes from when we moved here at the end of 1989
Ginny, you can speak for me anytime. We;re on the same track as far and being willing to help CJ if we lived close enough. I don't even have Christmas cards so I won't be sending any unless I can get out to buy some. I only have about 5 people I'd send to anyway. Yes I did get in some crocheting last evening but need to get busy and get more done. I also will be doing some cooking and other household tasks today

Hello Ruth - Sorry about your exhausting day and the overcharges at the store, it's terrible they can't get things correct. My house was built in 1934, and my family moved into it in 1954. The last major updates we did were over 30 years ago! So I definitely want to sell the house "as is" and my DB and I are going to try to find one of those companies that buys houses instead of listing it for sale. Ginny - I'm glad you finished your Christmas cards. I got mine done yesterday and mailed them today. I'll be farther away from JoAnns but about the same distance to Hobby Lobby. But if you saw the amount of fabric (I still have to pack to take) and all the batting and supplies I have you'd know I never need to shop again I filled 3 large 39 gallon trash bags with batting yesterday that I took to the new place today. I had no idea I had that much batting! Guess I really need to get those quilt tops quilted now I really appreciate you both saying you'd help and all your helpful advice. I've set goals with this move that I'll hopefully mostly meet. I'm trying not to take too many things with me that I won't use there but I know there are some that when I start unpacking boxes will have no place to go so they need to be gotten rid of. I also had a goal of not putting anything into storage and only using the moving company to move furniture and I think I can meet that too. I have an appointment with the moving company next week. Hopefully I'll be moved into the house in the next week or so and then my DB and I can look around the house to see what's left and then start to contact some companies in January maybe to look at the house. My goal is to get it sold before the grass would need to be cut again, so that would be April. I sure that all works out so I don't have to worry about the house so much when I'm not living here. This morning I donated my old car to a local organization. It has sat in my driveway for three years not working, so hopefully the organization will make some money off it. After that I took the license plates to Motor Vehicles. It's just a lot of different things to do for this move. I'm looking forward to doing some quilting again soon. Take care and have a good weekend!

CJ- what you are going through is a LOt of workā¦yes I have also donated many cars to charity- I tend to use American Lung (because my Dad was an asthmatic). I am sure they will do just fine with car getting their moneys worth out of it. Considering the age of your house, I do not blame you for selling it as is. There are also companies, think there is one near me called āGot junkā?. For a fee they dispose of the stuff you do not know how to dispose of. Of course they charge a fee, but if you want to simplify your life, that is one way. My realtor when I sold my mothers house thought I would be best off using a company like that, instead DH and I worked awfully hard, lugging junk out to the curb or throwing it into the dumpster. I do not blame you for not wanting to fix up the placeā¦.chances are someone will want to gut the entire house - so any work you did would be useless. For my momās house, we painted all the rooms to neutral colors, and stripped the hardwood floors. Dh did a minor upgrade to the lavatory. We left the kitchen and bathroom as is. (Both need updating but are functional). And i cleaned. Oh Lord I cleaned. My mom was a horrible hoarder and a very lazy housekeeper, so this was a ton of work for Dh and I. I hope that you meet your goal of being in your new home by Christmas! And I bet you will feel so good to be in your new home. And by the way CJ- that. Is a lot of batting. Hope you can get some quilting time in soon.. And one dumb question, are you bringing the Christmas tree with you?
Ruth, hope you got your crocheting and cleaning in. So we will have to send some cyber cookies to CJ and cyber hugs for her new home. Do not sweat if if you do not get Christmas cards out, most people are happy with a nice email or an ecard these days I think.
Oh my morning was insane. I knew it was going to be long but had no idea it would be relentless like it was. Non stop work from 6-1pm. Then I did run 2 more errandsā¦one of which was stopping at the mechanic to have them look at my car, because the check engine light came on again but also turned itself off. The mechanic told me to come back anytimeā¦.but if the light is off, itās not a big deal. I did finish the pillow, which needed some final thread clipping and itās now wrapped and ready to be given. A small amount of craftingā¦.but better than nothing.

I slept in until a few minutes after 6- and so far have been super busy getting my early housework done. I was in a big rush to get to the IPad, sign ups for my libraryās toddler music program which usually closes out (full registration) in a few short minutes. I am very thankful that I got the boys in- they have so much fun together and love the program.
I have one short errand to run, which I will do shortly. Then I think Dd and her children are coming over for their Saturday visit. The baby has a coldš.. she is so little. I know Dd will keep a close eye on her to make sure it is not something serious. But DSIL just had a cold, so we figure that itās the same infection.

CJ, I'll be so happy for you when you are all settled in your new home and can sit back and quilt and look at new QAL's online. It's funny but my dh just mentioned selling our house to a company. We moved here in a "bust" time and considering prices now we paid very little for this house and it's in a desirable neighborhood. We will be happy with giving the new owners or the company a very good deal My sil was offered a good deal on his mother's house but thought he could get more selling it to an individual. He ended up getting much less.I think selling to a company is a great idea.As for cars I thought over the years of giving them to an organization but ended up giving all of them to individuals
Ginny, I'm flad you were able to get the little people space in the library program. They will have fun.I'm glad too that you were able to get a few more minutes of sleep. I need to do housework also.
Oh and I have to admit, speaking of batting, that several years ago I bought a whole bolt of batting. I've never used any of it. It's the kind you can use for potholders and other things like that that would require things to be heat resistant.DH told me I should start sewing too in order to use up some of my fabric. At least crocheting is portable. Sewing by machine is, of course, not.
See you later

Hello - Hope you've both had a good day It was a bit milder here today, tomorrow we're supposed to get rain and wind which I'm hoping is not too bad. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the visit with your DD and DGChildren. I hope the baby is feeling better soon. We have that 1-800-Got-Junk company around where I live and I'll use them if I need to. Once everything personal is out of the house I'll see what's left. I've heard there are companies that will buy a house even with items left in it, so that would be great if I can find one of them to buy my house. Ruth - Maybe you can use some of that batting some day, but I know your crochet projects are a lot easier to carry around with no machine required. I did some more moving today so I'm staying home tomorrow to do things and relax some, I'm very tired and worn out. This afternoon I pulled out all the family photo albums - I had put them all in one cabinet. There were so many I thought I'd just start crying. Why am I the one left with all these things to go through? I guess that will be a project to deal with in the new house - sitting and going through all the photos and sorting them for my brother's families and then throwing out the ones where I don't recognize the people. For now, I'll just pack them up and take them with me. I also have all my quilt tops and other finished quilt pieces to get packed up. I'm not looking forward to that. I'm pretty sure there are probably over 200 pieces to get out of here. At least I have some floor space in the new place and I can lay out the tops and figure out which ones I want to quilt and which ones I might just donate. Take care

Ruth, well I would actually agree that perhaps selling your home through one of those companies might be a good option. Dh and I did a boatload of work, to get my momās home ready and her house is in a fairly desirable neighborhood. The issue we hit was that I did not want to fix up the old kitchen or bathroom and all the buyers wanted a high end kitchen. I just wanted to be rid of the house. I ended up having to accept the only offer I got and sold to a woman who was a penny pincher and difficult. And I did not really get what the house was worthā¦. I am still cleaning here, will let you know when I am all done.
CJ- I know how depressing it is to have to go through ALL the pictures and those that no one seems to want to help with. I still have to go through my momās pictures (thanks to my sister who did nothing to help) and believe me I will not send any out to her. She really left me high and dry when it came time to settle momās affairs, but of course got her 50% of the inheritance. Do what you have to do for YOUā¦. Itās a sad project to go through all the picturesā¦espeacially if you are the one stuck with the job. I am glad to hear that you are staying home tomorrow and can hopefully rest up. Moving is a LOT of work. And believe me one less month of paying taxes and utilities etcā¦.on a house is worth selling it to one of those companies as long as they are close to what you expect. Zillow tends to run high in house values, I understand that Realtor.com is more realistic. But I will say buyers seem to think that they can ask for the moon on a platter and will attempt to modify the house price to reflect that.
Today. Well it was ok. Dd came over with the kidsā¦the baby has a cold. They were here for awhile- which now makes senseā¦.Dd hit me with the news that she is not attending church with me Christmas Eve, which honestly will be a very busy night for me anyway being involved in the service. Her husband comes from a huge family and that always seems to take precedent over me and my small family. Honestly I will be fine when we get to Christmas Eveā¦.I am just a grumble puss right now.
Gonna finish vacuumingā¦then wrap. See you in the am

My father passed away at age 56 or so and my mother lived in their home for awhile afterward then my brother "bought" the house from her aka he n ever paid her. My mother ended up renting apartments. The house was a big mess because the foundation was never made correctly and water was constantly seeping in.When my brother finally sold that house he ended up getting only $10,000 for it which was very much lower than prices in the neighborhood. He did end up giving me the family pictures which were mostly from my mother's ancestors. I did go through them a couple years back and threw away all the ones that were of people I didn't know and have no way of finding out who they were. I did keep one since it was one of the very old tintype photos.I was the oldest grandchild in both sides of the family so what I didn't know is lost to all of us Now I need to go through all the hundreds, maybe thousands of photos I've taken over the years and give to my kids and grandkids. Back when I had a scanner I scanned a lot of them to my computer and lost all those because the computer died before I put the pics on thumbdrives but i do still have the originals.
Ginny, I did stop earlier when you mentioned the baby was sick and prayed for her healing and will keep her in prayer. I'm sorry your dd ends up going to her dh's family gatherings when she would probably prefer to be with you instead but is probably going along with her dh's wishes to keep his family satisfied in order to keep peace. She knows you understand but probably doesn't realize how it hurts you at times.
CJ, I'm so glad you're taking a day off moving and packing and will rest and relax tomorrow. Yes I bet your quilt tops alone take up a lot of space but I haven't seen one of yours yet that isn't very beautiful so, like you, I'd never want to lose any of them.

Hello - Hope you are doing well today The rain is here that they predicted and it's supposed to get heavy and windy tonight. I'm hoping not to have any problems with water coming in that one room I've had the most problems with (even after getting the new roof). Ginny - I'm sure it hasn't to be tough when there are in-laws involved in holidays, and families having to make the choice of where to go. I'm sorry you won't be with your DD on Christmas Eve. I hope you'll be able to have a separate Christmas celebration with them. I just want to get rid of this house too. It probably needs to be gutted inside with all new plumbing and electrical installed and they should change the oil furnace to HVAC while they are doing that. I just hope I can get a company to buy it so I won't have to worry about it all winter. Ruth - Sorry you had to go through all the photographs too, and that you have all of your own to go through. I guess I'd rather be the one doing it than having my family come into this house if I'd died here and maybe throwing them all away. And I know it will be nice to see pictures of my family that is no longer with me. Well I ended up not taking a day off. I was able to get pretty much all the rest of my sewing packed up this morning so I went ahead and took all that to the rental house. When I came home, I put a few more things in the car and tomorrow I'm taking all my dry food and pretty much the rest of the kitchen items to the house. I still need to get all my quilt tops put into stacks that aren't too heavy - I already fold them when I store them, but I've just been stacking them up on an unused bed. We're going to just carry them out folded like to take to the new place. So things are moving along and it will be another busy week, but I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel Take care

CJ, one thing to be thankful for is that the new house is not all that far from the current one so you've been able to take things to the new one as you get them ready to go.I'm glad you're able to see that light at the end of the tunnel and this move will be history soon. Then when the house is sold you'll be able to relax and enjoy your time.
One week from today is Christmas Eve. I better get busy and get the great grandchildren's gifts wrapped. I don't wrap the things I made for the adults just the children but I do have several little things for each one of the children so still have a little wrapping to do. I'll probably do it tomorrow.
My yarn came yesterday and I went to the mailbox to get it today so I can work on dh's afghan and in fact have started this new color. I should have it done by Christmas but if I don't I'll just wrap it as is and finish it after Christmas.
Ginny, I hope you're having a good day and are able to get in some time to rest and relax
We've been having some fairly warm days recently in high 40's and low 50's and it will last a few more days. My favorite country singer made a song called "if We Make It Through December", and goes on to say We'll be fine. Here though the worst months to go through will start in January.

Ruth, thanks for the prayer for DGD- ends up she has RSV (DDās DSIL is a nurse and she thought she heard a slight wheeze) so they took the baby to the doctor who actually was not terribly concerned. DGD seems like she has a cold at this pointā¦and I know she is taking her back to the doctor tomorrow because Dd feels this particular doctor did not provide a lot of information. Of course that means I was also exposed to RSV- for the most part I am healthy and am not concerned. Glad your yarn arrivedā¦.and that is great that you can get some work done on Dhās afghan. Yes, wrapping is quite an ordeal, hope it goes quickly.
CJ, press on! Sounds like by the end of the week you should be not all moved in but in your new home.. if you have pretty much emptied out the kitchen it sure sounds that way to me. Glad you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and yes, I totally get it that you just want this transition to be over with!!! I completely understand the sentiment to just wanna get rid of the house. I remember when selling my parents house I thought initially I would be upset over, leaving it to somebody else, but I realized that it had served its purpose in my life, my life had moved on. Ruth and I cannot wait to hear that you are setting up your sewing area and Or back to quilting again. I hope that time comes sooner as opposed to later.
I did trim some blocks this afternoon and Iām probably gonna trim a few more before I go to bed. I was a little disappointed in how the football game turned out but I donāt dislike the Bills , I just like The other team more. Iām in for a night of heavy rain here, and I hope at my house stays nice and dry.
See you in the morning!

Ginny, rsv came to my mind also. It's so common in infants and most have such a mild case that everyone thinks it's a cold so a lot of cases aren't actually diagnosed. When adults get RSV it's mostly cold symptoms and no one ever knows that you have or had RSV. I never worked on pediatrics and I'd never even heard of RSV until I worked on IV team and did IV's and took care of central lines in infants and children. I learned a lot from the pediatic nurses which included RSV.Of course RSV can be and is very serious in preemies and in people of all ages that have chronic illnesses
