Ruth, that is insanely frustrating that the doctors office chooses to communicate with you like that and communicate changes so late. I understand it’s all based upon a Dr schedule, but you would think that if there was a change in his schedule that they would somehow try and contact you possibly by texting. I think the email solution is a good one but obviously his office doesn’t do that. I do know that a lot of my doctors text appointment reminders, I wonder if you could suggest that to this doctors office.
Wow a lot of birthdays in your family this time of year and a happy birthday to your grandson, who I hope is doing well, and is settled back into life here as opposed to paying overseas.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today. Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the doctor's office again, I hope your DH will get another appointment soon. I'm like you, I need more notice before I have an appointment. Ginny - Sorry to hear about the random testing and the wrong color thread. I hope you can work something out for your quilt. My family has a lot of birthdays and anniversaries in February too. Yesterday I went with my DB and DSIL to the cemetery to put out some flowers for the February birthday family members who have passed away - my mother, my brother and my grandmother. Today was my mother's birthday, I wonder if she really liked having her birthday on Groundhog Day or not. I finished the January house temperature block and it's fun to look at. It's amazing that we had a 20 degree day here (the lilac) and then a 80 degree day (the orange) less than a week later. I'm hoping to catch up with my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks from January this weekend, then I'll be ready to pull some fabrics for February (I think that color is red). Take care and have a wonderful weekend

CJ- what I find really neat is that your 20 degree day is right on top of your 80 degree day!!! Love the block, it looks like a fun quilt to put together….nice job. Well your mom sure did have an interesting day to have her birthday on, perhaps she did not even care that her special day was on Groundhog Day. How old would she be if she were still with your family today? How very special that you were able to get to the cemetery with your DB and DSIL to leave flowers. I hope that it was a time of comfort and sharing as you remember those loved ones you have lost but also those who are still here. Do you have any special memories of your mom that you would like to share with us?
I have almost no birthdays in February, my sisters husband’s bday is in a week and I did just send a card. Other than that, I have to wait till March for some birthdays. Kind of a crazy day here. I worked this morning, and ran one errand. The idiot light came on in my car, again, so I stopped at the mechanic to have it checked out. The good news is that it’s a sensor, not a massive problem and he was able to explain why it goes on and off…. Guess he thinks it’s a good idea to replace the sensor the next time it acts. Fortunately it’s not a pricey part to replace…so I hope I can wait a few weeks and then have the part replaced then.
Ruth, how was your day?
Think I am going to play with thread to see what I want to use for the quilting stitch.

It seemed like my day was busy but I didn't get all that much done. I did bake some whole wheat bread, drove to the mailbox and put away some groceries that were delivered.I spent some time looking for a recipe that I liked for the bread too.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that your light is still giving you problems but glad it's not a serious thing.
CJ, It sounds like this month has some bad memories but I hope the good memories of those you have lost helped. It's great that you have your brother and sister in law to be with you.
I didn't hear anything from that doctor's office even though I left two messages yesterday. The nurse's voicemail says that it may take 24 hours for her to answer.Well that time has passed and it's the weekend so so much for that.

Oh, I meant to say, CJ, that I had just told my dh about your weather being very cold with snow one day and just a week later it was 80

Hello - Hope you've both had a nice day and good weather. It was cool here, but sunny. Ginny - I'm glad there was nothing seriously wrong with your car, hope you can get the sensor replaced soon. I do think my mother liked sharing her birthday with Groundhog Day, since she had an Andrew Wyeth print called "Groundhog Day" that hung in her bedroom - I still have it. My mother has been gone for so many years, I mostly just have mixed together memories from my childhood, but I'm glad I have them. Ruth - Sorry you didn't hear back from the doctor's office, hope you can talk to them on Monday. I called one of those house buyer places yesterday and the person called me back and left a voicemail, a text and sent me an email. When I called back I got voicemail, so I left a message and I texted back - never heard back from the person I'm thinking it might be because it was late on Friday afternoon, so I'll see if I hear back on Monday. I finished making some of the green blocks for this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge today, and I have all my red fabrics ready for February too. I had hoped to make a disappearing 4 patch block, but I tried it twice and messed it up both times, so I'm going to just make a few nice four patch blocks each month. The blocks I'm making this year will use my 2.5 inch squares, my 2.5 inch strips, my 5 inch squares, and my fat quarters. I thought that was a nice way to use from all my scraps. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

CJ, yes probably they were not interested in working anymore since it was Friday. I hope they contact you on Monday and you get some good info from them. The buying company I saw on tv is called Open Door. Four patch blocks sound like a good thing to make and if it uses up blocks and strips you already have made as well as fat quarters it's definitely a win.
I guess the neuro surgeon's nurse didn't agree with the office person because after I left her a voice with giving my dh's email address she emailed him and told him she had made him a new appointment and she even said that she thought email is a great idea.
Ginny must be busy with housework and visiting dd and grandchildren.
I'm trying to get all the things done that I want to put in the box to send to Indiana.I got all the hearts made and put together and just have to put on the keychains which I plan to do tomorrow. Today I want to finish the doll I'm crocheting. I also want to make a "leggy frog" since I've seen a LOT of videos on making them and I think it's something my youngest dgs will like. Hopefully will get at least the doll made this evening and maybe at least started on the frog which is a no sew pattern and looks easy. Of course you do have to sew on the mouth and I'll sew eyes because I don't want to put on safety eyes since they now have a baby who will soon be crawling and could be tempted to put things in her mouth.
I'll try to come back later to see if Ginny stops in

Someone was supposed to call me back in 24 hours….and that did not happen. But Ruth< I do get that it is frustrating.
Spent some time messing around with thread and found that I had to get more thread to finish DGD’s quilt. It just will look better…. I did order the thread from Joanns web site and will pick it up tomorrow. Thankfully the thread was 50% off. DD and the grandkids were here today…and then I did finally take my Christmas tree down. I hope that my back is not a mess tomorrow, getting it back into the crawl space is no easy job, but it is done.

Ruth, I am so glad that the neurosurgeon actually used email….at least now you do not have to play phone tag with that doctor!!! Gee, where do you come up with all the great ideas to crochet? The leggy frog sure does sound adorable.
CJ- I think the ground hog day print is a nice way to remember your mom….and yes she most likely did not mind that she shared her birthday with the “special day” of ground hogs. Think you are right about the house buying company. Do hope that you hear from them soon, and well understand the stress of holding onto the house, knowing how things can go wrong because you are not living there. (I used to have nightmares about trees falling on my mom’s house). Sounds like a great plan to use your fabric scraps…4 patch blocks are simple, colorful and not bad to make!!

Well, I tried to pull over a really cute meme, and lost my post!!!
Ruth, are you hoping to get the key chains and baby doll in the mail for Valentine’s Day? Are you making key chains for everyone?
CJ- the disappearing 4 patch is such a pretty quilt, I am sorry to hear that you had struggled to make it. Were the directions poor? Looks like there are a lot of instructions for that quilt online, but not all online directions are good.
Surprising that I am not sore from what I did last night- getting the Christmas tree put away and cleaning up the room. Wish I had picked up my thread last night, as then I would be quilting now. Joanns opens at 10 so I hope to have the thread this morning.
Ok gonna post this now, and then try to post this really cute meme I saw.

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day and good weather. It's sunny and cool here. Ginny - That is a cute meme I'm glad you aren't sore from moving the Christmas tree and I hope you were able to get your thread. Ruth - I'm glad that the doctor's office will use email to communicate with you, I hope this will make it easier for you and your DH. I went to my house today to get things ready for a junk pickup, which I hope to have this week. I might have to have more than one pickup, but I'll see how much they get in their truck the first time. I'm hoping to hear back from the home buying place tomorrow, if not I'll call them. I hope they won't be like the first moving company I tried - responding back but no action. I finished making most of the red Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks last evening and I may try to get the last Moda Blockheads block made in the next few days. I'm still not sure I want to continue this quilt along, but I have all the fabric I need and I think the red, white and blue theme would be good - so I may try to keep going. Take care

Hey CJ- good to see you here. Aw those junk pick ups….hope you can get yours scheduled and that the weather is good for it. I do remember one of mine, awhile back where I had to double bag everything to make sure that rain did not get on my donations. It’s a lot of work getting the stuff out to the curb, and I figure that will be an early morning for you to get everything out to the curb. Hope that the junk pick up people get back to you tomorrow. Do what is best for you with the blockheads quilt….do what you think is best for you, and if making that quilt does not bring you joy, then perhaps it’s time to stop.
Yes, got my thread and got started stitching. I just had some trouble with my thread breaking, so I will stop for the night, and change the needle the next time I get to sit down to quilt
Ruth - hope you had a great day and finished all your crocheting projects
