I just woke up. Had a hard time getting to sleep. And it's snowing and there's actually a lot of it on the ground. According to wunder weather it's supposed to be in 70's tomorrow and Sunday. I wonder if that still will happen.
I never stopped to think about the time the nurses must have to get there. The shifts on the regular floors start at 6am and whenever I had to work a day shift it almost killed me. The lab people and the phlebotomists that do the blood drawing start at 3am.
Ginny. it does sound that, although fairly expensive, that you got a good deal and a quality product. I'm glad the person doing the library story time will make up that week that was missed. I'm sure the little fellows enjoy that time. Well it turns out that dgd just suspected and did a home test. She thinks that maybe she is 4 weeks into the pregnancy to the new little one will not arrive until next January so I have plenty of time to make things. The two she has were very tiny when born. Just 5lbs. I'm not sure what I'm going to make but probably a sweater, hat, and baby afghan...maybe the famous "Ginny blanket"Who knows, I might have to make each of the little girls...they are 4 and 6..a little blanket of their own. Or better yet make a couple little things and a blanket for each of the two Cabbage Patch dolls that belonged to my dd and give those to the girls.
I don't know why, all of a sudden. my laptop corrects some of my typing. It changed dd to dad...nope my father never had CP dolls I'm nearly done with my current afghan so I can start practicing baby things.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today We had another really hot day yesterday, but today it's cooler in the 70s. Ruth - That is happy new about your DGD expecting again, hope she and the baby will do well. I'm glad they've set up your husband's surgery date and I hope everything works out with that. I remember many times driving my father to downtown Washington DC early in the morning for some procedure - seems like they probably add in time to adjust for any problems, etc. Ginny - I'm glad the ruler quilting seems to be working well for you and I hope that continues. Hope you enjoyed going to the quilt shop. I went to a quilt show yesterday with my DSIL and it was nice. They had over 300 quilts there and many of their quilters still make what I consider "traditional" patchwork quilts and also some beautiful applique quilts. There were some of the "art" type quilts, which are not my favorite although I admire the creativity. They had a few vendors there and I bought a couple pieces of fabric and a pretty magnet made of wood with a bear paw design. It was a long day since we live over an hour from where the show was, but fortunately traffic wasn't too bad. This morning I went to a local strawberry patch and bought some fresh picked strawberries. They also have pick your own and there were a lot of families there with children. Then I found some rhubarb in the grocery store so I'll make some strawberry rhubarb sauce with half of each and then freeze the rest. I'll keep out a few fresh strawberries to eat. Take care and have a good weekend

Ok CJ,I'm coming over to your house.I love both rhubarb and strawberries and esp with them mixed together. I'm glad you were able to get out with a family member for an enjoyable if long day. It must have been a real challenge to drive into DC in the morning when you took your dear father for procedures. I drove there twice I think, maybe three times way back.Probably in 1968 or so. I took my sister and youngest brother there. We stayed at a motel in Maryland and I think the kids had a really good time right there. there was another family there with kids and they invited my brother and sister to their room. Then we took a tour bus one day and drove in to see the sights on our own the next day and maybe the next.I was much braver then in driving and also I'm sure there was much less traffic there then also.
I just went down to the mailbox because a package was delivered. There was about five inches of snow remaining on my windshield even though it was melting.

Ruth, gee it’s May and you got 5 inches of snow?? That is nuts, but then where you live climate extremes like that seem to be common. Hope that the package you got was exactly what you ordered and that the snow melts. A new great grandbaby in January? Plenty of time to make goodies…and its funny I was chatting with Jane about the “ginny” pattern yesterday…its so pretty and works up so easily with only tiny holes - great for little hands.
CJ- glad you got to the quilt show! Yay! Sounds like it had much to view and many beautiful quilts. Like you I am not super into the art quilts, but it is still fun to see what others have done. Gee, had I known you were looking for rhubarb, I could give you some. I need to pick mine and figure what to do with it. Funny that you purchased a piece of wood with a bear paw design, when I was in Lancaster with Jane I bought (for her birthday) a wooden pin, with a beautiful amish May Day basket painted on it….and the price was very reasonable!
So glad it’s cooler here today, and will be cooler tomorrow also. I have not gotten to play with my new ruler yet, and know it will take some practice blocks before I decide what or how I am going to use it. I am just really glad I got a good deal on it.

There was a bit of snow on the ground and on bushes and tree but I don't think that was 5 inches. It was deeper on my windshield because the wind blows it there windshield catches it. Still there was a bit but by 5pm It was all completely gone. Tomorrow 73 degrees. Snow in May is not uncommon here for sure . What a coincidence that you and Jane were talking about the same blanket that I'm going to make. Luckily I wrote down most of the directions for it because when I click on the bookmarked pattern it says not available. It's a really simple pattern and I think a one row repeat so I didn't really need the pattern anyway. I did forget to write down that you do it in the blo but luckily, even in my feeble mind, I remembered. The box that came yesterday was mostly Hershey kisses. Dh found them at a reduced price I think on the Walmart site so he bought 3 bags which were 2lbs each. We both love them. He was worried that they might have melted in transit but they didn't. I had to do a test taste After ripping out 3 rounds of switching (and when you get as far as I got the rounds are LONG) I did them over and got that blanket finished and started the new one for dgd's expected baby. I do already have a couple car seat size blankets done. One says Jesus loves me in bobble stitches and the other says love and hugs and has rows of hearts all in bobble stitches and I have one sweater that I made because when I was making one for the new grandbaby in Indiana I liked it so much I made a second one to save. Ok I'm going to peel potatoes for Potatoes Au Gratin and then crochet. I did a LOT of housework on Thurs but need to do more. I've just looked thru the linen closet to see what I needed to get rid of in there.Came down to about three table cloths that we never use and haven't used some at all and the others haven't used in a very long time. I took a bunch of things from there to Indiana and kind of forgot that I did that. WEll off to do some work.

Ruth, sounds like you have had a productive weekend for sure! You got snow, but it’s all going to or has melted, so that is not a bad thing. By the way, if you want I can get my hands on the afghan directions and get them to you . You are totally correct, it’s very repetitious (but oh so cute!). Let me know…I can easily get it to you…that is neat that you have already started on car seat size blankets and a sweater, so you have a good start for this little one to be born in January. I am glad that you got the hersheys kisses, because I would eat them if they came here.
CJ- how is your weekend going? Did attending that quilt show inspire you to work on a project?
Today I did cut the backing fabric for the blue quilt…just to open up where I seamed it and I did play with the 2 rulers. I decided that I will use the original ruler, which is a nice swirl pattern. Again this quilt is for me, so if I make mistakes or it does not come out perfectly its ok and all part of a learning process.

Good evening Ginny and CJ, I've been wondering where you both were. Now I know that you, Ginny, have been working on quilting and maybe CJ has also.Ginny, I'm glad you bought that new ruler anyway even though you plan on using the original for your blue quilt. If you hadn't bought it you'd still be wondering if you should have tried one. As for perfection well I don't seem to ever end up with any of my projects perfect anymore. I used to really push myself to get things perfect and finally realized that it's an impossible task. And I forgot to thank you for the advice on the toaster regarding parchment paper. I was thinking that since it's used in the oven it should be safe but I'm not going to take a chance. And I do have to use that toaster now because the one we've been using for the last 4 years , when you push the lever to lower the bread into the toaster, will not stay depressed at all. That just happened today. On the baby blanket I left the note I had kept about the instructions in the bedroom and when I started crocheting I didn't want to wake dh who was napping to I started the blanket and did it wrong. Instead of sc, dc in the next 2 stitches, I did sc and DC only in the next stitch and it's not turning out the same at all. I had too much done on it to rip it out so am continuing that way and will make the next one a true Ginny blanket. I don't know why my copy of the pattern in my files keeps disappearing. The name of it is there but the actual pattern will not show up when I click on it.I checked all three of my laptops and it's the same problem on all.It may be on the laptop I left in Indiana and, in fact, it has to be because you sent it to me back before your dgd#2 was born. We gave that laptop to the kids though since we prob won't be going back there for a couple years and my ds probably erased all the files.
