Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

HOCUS POCUS, WE NEED TO FOCUS!
September 3 - October 31
The focus of this challenge is to become a healthier, happier, Boo-ti-ful person for Halloween and it won’t be a costume.
As always we are working towards/maintaining being AF! We need to take a look at what is our witching hour and how do we prevent it. What can you replace your brew with? One suggestion is make a list of treats that you will be able to have if you don’t give into the brew. Give yourself a face mask (facial) or maybe make mummy jalapeño poppers.
For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously in spite of the puns. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself.
This isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a moratorium and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been a fright so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. We understand there may be special occasions for which you may plan for an AIM detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So what are you going to be for Halloween and beyond? A much healthier, happier person sounds great! RIP alcohol and junk food. AND you will be going into the final two months of the year in great shape!
Have a healthy, happy Halloween!

DH & I took the golf cart to the nature trail to walk, it was lovely and cool. We collected more pine straw which I spread when we got home. DH helped pick green beans, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers ahead of the frost. I suppose I could have tried covering stuff up but it's just delaying the inevitable and I think I'm glad to be gardening for the year. It will be sad to see the flowers go, although I do have the pansies. I had a banner made with my business name, DH & I spent some time trying to figure out how to hang it on the canopy. It would have been easy if the canopy had grommets, but it doesn't. I tried stick on Velcro, but it fell off after an hour or so. We finally settled on tying to the frame on inside of the back of the canopy, it looks pretty good. I sorted the veggies we picked. The tomatoes will likely ripen, I'll can the green beans. The peppers are in the fridge. I'll probably just cut them up and freeze them at some point. I may make another batch of chow chow with the green tomatoes. I made my chile rellenos casserole with some of the Anaheim chile peppers, which we had with some breaded shrimp for dinner. I didn't get as much done yesterday as I would have liked, but I was just tired after bringing in all the porch plants ahead of the frost.
It's another pretty day, in the mid 30's. We did get a light dusting of frost. It's supposed to get into the 60's today, then back in the 30's tonight. We'll be back in the 70's tomorrow and for most of next week, so most of the porch plants will go back out for a while. My goal for today is to finish hot gluing the handles on the magic wands, pack up my inventory, and make a sign for my raffle. I've got aerobics at 9:30, but nothing else I need to do today.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, AP, blue dot, AF, being happy with your day. Sounds like you were busy with outside plants too. Yay for having a kitchen clear of temptation. The Fall Fest is outside, so we can't set up until the morning of. But it doesn't start until noon, so there's plenty of time. I always worry about not having enough small bills for change, I tend to just keep it in my cash box from one event to the next, although I did raid it for the recent garage sales. I actually get a lot of Venmo and Zelle payments, it's amazing how many people don't carry any cash.
Cindy- Glad the infusion went fine and traffic wasn't too bad. So sorry about your back. How are you feeling otherwise? Hugs!
Carole- Yay for a relatively easy day at work, taking a day off from working out, having election day off. Is your school a poling place? Thanks for the compliment on the FB pic. I thought I looked pretty chunky in the sweatshirt.
Cathy- Hope you are having a good day. It's great that you have a wide variety of produce available.

M-W Word of the Day
fugacious adjective | fyoo-GAY-shus What It Means Fugacious is a formal word that describes something that lasts only a short time. // The rock band’s early success proved fugacious; within two years its members had moved on to other careers. // Savor the enduring pleasures of life as intensely as the fugacious ones.

Hi all. Went to knitting and now we are about to head out the door for our trip. Just wanted to check in. Have a great day and I'm so glad it's sunny and beautiful out. Will catch up sometime tomorrow or Saturday.
Amy. GL with the sale. I do have my bank attached to Zelle, just have never used it for anything. Guess this may be a good time to learn.

Hi girls! Wow, I guess I haven’t been posting! I was up 2 pounds this week. Maybe today I’ll decide to get back on track. DH cooked up his pumpkins in the instapot and then baked pumpkin bread and muffins. I’ve had way too many! During my water class today, someone asked if I was an overachiever because I really work hard in the water! Wow! Made me feel good! I finally got hold of Murphy yesterday. She’s doing well and is still seeing her counselor. She said she’s been mainly AF, which I was glad to hear. She’s just taking a break from things.
Jan: Have a great time! The boys aren’t coming this weekend. DS has to work. And yes, they are bow hunting. I think they got 3 deer last year, and ate all the meat!
Amy: Loved your pictures and wow to your flowers! The hydrangeas were gorgeous!
Cathy::I’m glad things are calm, over there for you.
Carole: Our schools are in session on Election Day, but Jack and Addi are off because some schools are voting spots. I’m not sure about Rylee!

Another quiet cool night and a beautiful sunrise to wake up to. I am finishing up online and then will make spinach-bulgur-onion with something else for our lunch, finish a book and review it, and choose the next book to read. Our fridge is filled with produce and counters with harvested fruits and vegetables. I think my husband may start working on harvesting olives soon and needs to finish with harvesting carob so we can take it to the refinery. I see a nap or earlier bedtime tonight as five hours sleep is not enough!
Hope you all have something to look forward to this weekend!
