Good morning! Last night I had a lovely fire in the fire pit- while a neighbor put on a very impressive fireworks display. Easy to watch that from the back yard instead of fighiting traffic somewhere to see fireworks put on by a local jurisdiction.
Meg, sorry I missed your post from last night. Glad Devin's British shirt stayed home....oh I have a lot of respect for our friends the British, but we did win Independance from them....ha ha ha. Really hope after 2 nights of not getting enough rest that you did sleep well last night.
Hope everyone slept well last night!!!
Off for my walk.. have a wonderful day fellow crafters Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was having an out of control eating day! Fortunately I'm doing better today and back on track. I don't have too many out of control days but when I do they are bad. I'm going to spend time today thinking about what I can do to avoid them in the future. Ginny - The re-enactment sounds interesting and I bet you enjoyed the fire in the pit last night and the fireworks. Ruth - Sounds like you have some lovely yarn for projects Phyl - Glad to hear you are getting some projects done too Meg - I'm glad Devin got to be in the parade, I'm sure he had a great time. I had every intention of doing some work on my quilts today but I'm expecting a delivery and I like to be downstairs (my sewing room is upstairs) so I can hear if anyone comes by. They will often leave a box at the back door and I'm concerned someone will take it or with our chances for rain today it will get wet. I finally ordered a smart phone - I figured it was time to move into the modern day It's still a Tracfone so I don't have a contract and I can buy a year of service at a time, so I'm going to try it and see if I like it. I'm going to keep my old Tracfone just in case I don't care for the new phone. At least then I'm only out one year of paying for it. Take care everyone!

CJ- good to see you here! We all have out of control eating days, and as long as it is once in a while, I would not be worried. Glad you have the resolve to get things back under control once more...and get back on program. Are you able to pin point what triggers a bad day like that? Everyone has their own personal response to out of control days, but I do know that sometimes allowing yourself to let go one day, and then not beating yourself- and then getting back on track the next day might work. Sometimes you just have to let one day go, and move on. Hope I am making sense.
I have not had all that many "good" days on program recently. Pretty much been in a holding pattern for awhile.
Been cleaning out the shed this am, after my walk. Not my favorite job in the world.
Just got off the phone with the LQS and I got the LAST spot in next weeks quilting class! Yay. I am excited, and they allowed me to use the gift card to pay for the class.
Okie dokie, back to working in the shed. Hi to Phyl, Meg and Ruth. Ginny

Hello to all. We did watch the fireworks from our front porch and they were nice. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Ginny having a fire in a firepit sound like a really nice way to spend the evening.Speaking of sheds, I need to take some things down to mine.I'm glad to hear you got a spot in the class and using the gift card for the fee is certainly a good use of one.
CJ, when you get a new phone from Tracfone you can transfer any unused minutes to your new phone even if it is a smart phone. I have them too and in fact have to get busy and get more minutes as mine run our in five days. Dh had one too for awhile and he had minutes. I called them and they transferred all his minutes to my phone so I asked about smart phones (still don't have one) and they said yes they would transfer all my minutes to one and that I didn't need data because I could use my minutes for the internet stuff too. Not that I'd probably ever access the internet on a phone. So I'm still not clear on the data card thing. Evidentally it's not needed so I'm not sure why they sell them then. I need to look into that more I guess.
As for the out of control eating day....I second what Ginny said. YOu can do it.
Meg, I Hope you had a good 4th.
Phyl, I'm sure you're staying busy as usual. You are one busy woman!

hi. well I got the bed/computer room cleaned. took most of the day. I can't seem to stay away from the puter. keep coming back to read. but also I cleaned out the printer drawer stand. how can one drawer hold so much stuff.
I have had tracfone for years . I have a smartphone. haven't learned everything about it. had it since dec. naughty me.
I think the data card is for folks who want emails and all kinds of stuff on their phones. I don't want emails on my phones. I get emails on the puter and tablet that is enough.
I am going to make a hat to go with the blanket. I almost forgot how to use dpn. I was trying to do it with 3 dpn before I remembered use the 4th needle dummy now to remember how to join.
gotta go going to go going to the campgrounds to spend time with tom and margie. phyl

Phyl, I looked it up before you posted and it said just what you said. The data is for when you're away from wifi and want to do email or use the gps app, do facebook, and of course come here. I don't want to do anything like that when I'm out so data wouldn't be for me. I actually have a smart phone. My ds sent it to me. It was one of his old ones. I can do internet on it but I don't. I don't use it as a phone. I'm sure it's not one that would qualify in the tracfone for a byop because it's one that ds got from T-Mobile. In fact I don't use it at all but dh did take pics with it when the great grandbabies were over here.Son sent it so I could see what a smart phone was like. I found email on it and facebook but that's not even useful for me unless something happens to my laptop in which case I can use my tablet which I never use either. The phone could be used to call 911 they say but I have cell phone that's strictly for that.
I don't know what the temp is officially but last time I looked at my therm it said 98,prob says 100 by now. I looked and officially it's 99.5
I keep coming back to the computer too Phyl. I've been working on my doll blanket and reading so haven't got much done. I cleaned out my desk drawers last week, PHyl, and I, too, wonder how so much ends up in them.

Good afternoon Ginny, Ruth, cj & Phyl,
Yesterday was a pretty full day around here. DS, DGD, Devin & a friend all went to the parade and Devjn was very excited about driving on the fire truck. I stayed home. Then everyone rested in the afternoon. Then they went swimming. We BBQ and then when it got dark we had our own fire works display in my drive way. That was fun. I worked on my b/blanket and listened to a book then went to bed & slept well.
It is getting hotter as the afternoon goes on. I think the high will be about 98 today. Everyone went back to work today and just Devin and I at home. I need to go to the store and I can't find my car keys. Devin said he put them in the seat storage box on the seat of my walker which is locked in the cat, So I am waiting for DS to come home. I wanted to go to the store before it got too hot but I guess that is not going to happen.
Have a good afternoon.

Good evening!
Meg, its good news to hear that you slept well last night. 2 nights of bad sleep is bad enough. Were you ever able to find your car keys? I am hoping you have an extra set fo the car so that you can unlock the set in the seat storage box of your walker. Your home celebration of Indeendance day must have been fun- nice to have fireworks at home!
Ruth, I think we all wonder why we accumulate so much stuff! Guess its a good idea to clean out junk drawers every 6. Months....but I usually g eat to mine much less frequently. It's hot where you live!!! Yuck. Stay comfortable...do you have AC?\\
Phyl congrats ib getting that computer room cleaned out! Did you start the hat to go with the blanket? I cannot help you with the tracphone situation but can say how much I like my smart phone. I have had a smart phone for almost a year, and love it.
Went fishing with friend tonight- caught nothing. Hi to CJ! Have a blessed evening Ginny

Meg, I second what Ginny said...it's great you got a good sleep last night.
Phyl, I've tried dp needles but they didn't work for me. I never was shown how. I guess I'll have to look up a youtube. When I tried them the yarn kept sliding off. I guess I could use those little rubber things you put on the ends of knitting needles to keep them in place till I get to the yarn on that particular needle. I think that once a person got used to using them it would be much easier than trying to use the circular needles and fighting the "magic loop". Last hat I tried with that I twisted the yarn when joining and had to take it all off again.
Ginny, sometimes the fishing itself is more enjoyable than catching a fish.
Don't know what else I was going to say because page 2 is hidden so I'll just say that I'm going to go back to crocheting and reading and I'll see you all tomorrow

Good afternoon!
Meg, were you able to rescue your keys?
Ruth/Phyl, well I am clueless on how to use double pointed needles...cannot knit at all! I am lucky to know how to use a single crochet hook and not mess that up. I know you are both talented ladies and will figure it out.
Finished the part of cleaning the shed that I was willing to take on. Now I am on the deck...enjoying an afternoon in the mid 70's. Lovely breeze and partly cloudy. I am hoping for a sane night tonight...perhaps another fire in the fire pit and some reading or embroidery. Hi to CJ! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Thanks for the support on my out of eating issue. I had a good day yesterday and was right back on track. I'm feeling strong today too. What I was most happy about is that I didn't feel a lot of guilt from the overeating this time, I just did it and it's done. I think the thing that triggers me is that I just want to "treat" myself. I've used food to do that for most of my life and I was feeling like I needed to do something for me. I'm an emotional eater and it's been really tough not to go to food to deal with my emotions anymore. It's definitely something I'll have to work on for the rest of my life.
I haven't done anything with my new smart TracFone yet. I'm sure I need to charge it first so I need to read through the instructions. I want to keep my old TracFone just in case I don't like the new one. I've had bad luck with smart phones.
Ginny - I'm so happy you got the spot in the quilting class and can use the gift card. I look forward to hearing about your class. Glad you are getting some things done around the house and that your weather is nice.
Ruth - Hope you are enjoying working on the doll blanket and your reading.
Meg - I hope you found your keys and you get some relieve from the weather. Do you have wildfires near where you live? It looks like they are everywhere out west.
Phyl - I'm glad you were able to get some cleaning done too and good luck with the DPN. I've never used them, but did try a project on circular needles once.
I did a little stitching on some binding last night and also a few rows of crochet. I just needed to get my hands on something. Today I cleaned and reorganized in my sewing room. I think part of the reason I wasn't feeling like working in there was the mess It looks much better now and I'm anxious to get working on several projects.
Take care everyone!

CJ, I know what you mean. As a child my thought was always that I couldn't wait until I was an adult so I could eat all I wanted. I definitely reward myself with food..always have and I'm an emotional eater. When we moved here it was a huge change in many, many ways and to console myself I ate so much that I gained about 60 lbs in no time at all. You're are obviously much stronger now. I'm sure it wasn't easy to lose the weight so a huge congrats to you. Yes it's the guilt that gets us. It's not easy to tell ourselves that we didn't do anything horrible, we just got a little off track and so will get back on.
Still hot today and will continue like this until at least the end of next week. Despite that I did do some sorting out of things and tossed a bunch of stuff into the garbage. I have a lot of bags to take to GW or somewhere and bags of books to go to the library for their sale or I might just leave those at GW too. And I have more hats to take to the senior center so that the leader of Caps for Kids can pick them up.
Now I need to get busy on crocheting to use up some of this yarn. I didn't finish the things I wanted to finish last Friday so will try again tomorrow although we might run out to do a little shopping but I doubt it.
Have a great day all.

Hello everyone.
I have had a busy day. I had my hair cut in the morning. After lunch I paid my bills and balanced my check book. Now I am sleepy. I always get sleepy in the late afternoon. It is hot I haven't looked at the weather report for today I just know it is hot.
Ginny, Yes I found my keys. Devin put them in the seat compartment in my walker. Then DS put it in the car and locked the car up. He has the second set of keys and I didn't know where he put them. I was a stress eater but I am not under much stress now I am diabetic d I eat a lot less. About a year ago I lost weight with out trying. Then I put some of it back on again, Now I am losing again without any effort which I like.
cj, Devin has a great time at the parade & we had fire works in the evening.
Phyl, I don't really care to knit with DP needles. I have done it but I find them difficult to use and I prefer circular needles. When I knit caps I use circular needles.
Ruth, They keep changing phones and I just can't keep up with all the latest new phone equipment.
I have been doing a lot of reading and my latest b/blanket is coming along nicely. I will work on it again this evening.
I am off to have dinner .
