This thread was started before the dawn of time by Amazons who needed to compare their stats with other Amazons. Over time it grew into a community of incredible women who try to keep their spirits in the clouds and their feet on the ground, moving toward health. Most of us start at 5'7 and go up from there, from young singles to wise and lively elders of the tribe. We welcome newcomers who are willing to be kind and share a bit of their lives.

Welcome 2017!
Frieda gave me an important reminder last night; when a door closes, a window opens. My plan is to decorate that window, keep it clean to allow the sun to shine in, and leave it open for the refreshing breeze, all while enjoying the scenery. Thanks, girlfriend. I do hope you take that to heart, as well.
Linda, thanks for the solidarity re: the Grands. God knows how I love them, but I don't want to be the one raising them. DD was whining on FB last night about not getting to go uptown because they couldn't find a sitter. My thought was, if she can't grow up, call us, and ask...I'm not volunteering. What did she think was going to happen when she had children? I know DH and I spent our share of NYEs at home, with ours, with no regret or complaining.
I get to start a new job this month. My DN is opening an upscale thrift store, and I'll be working for her. Only a few hours a week, but it will get me out of the house with a chance to dress up! She's putting a lot of faith in me, and my judgment, which I desperately need right now, and I know I'll enjoy the work.
My home will get a refresh today while DH visits his sweet mama. Oh! He ran the washer twice yesterday; no smoke. He was right; it must have been a belt.

Good morning CATs, Happy New Year! Anyone have any resolutions to share? I have a couple of books that have been languishing unfinished and I am going to attempt to read a few pages each day to try to get through them. Last year I committed to eating at least one salad per day and I'm going to start the year with that again. I did pretty well for several months but did eventually fall off the wagon. Finally, I have high hopes of spending a few minutes knitting each day also. There are a couple of unfinished projects that I really want to move along.
It was a quiet night at home for me. Fireworks started going off at dark and continued until well after midnight despite the fact that we have a citywide ban on them. Our newest neighbors had a party--didn't invite/inform us--parked in our driveway. I consider that the height of rudeness--what were they thinking?!? DH has plans for a heart-to-heart with them at the earliest opportunity. He actually went out to see a movie and when he got home he couldn't put his car in the garage.
Nancy, I'm glad you had a nice evening and have a new opportunity looming. I hope you love it! Sounds like a good fit for you. Hooray for a washer with no smoke!!! Linda, so good to hear from you. Is the schedule going to change any in the new year? You've definitely had your hands full. T, I hear you on gearing back up for the work world. It's been a really nice break though. Frieda, hope you made that bonfire and set yourself on a path for a bright and wonderful new year. Andrea, there was something you said that I was going to respond to but I simply can't remember what right now. Our best LYS just moved to a new location and is now very near my house. That is both wonderful and very frightening. I might have gone there yesterday for a sneak peek and find myself heading there again today after checking patterns, etc. Shari, GL to your DH on the job search and to you on letting the news out as you see fit.
I've run out of thoughts for posting right now.

I am joining with my one or several additions to the reply count.
This morning I was planning to get on the treadmill but I had put on fleecey pants and they get too warm. So for a special treat I went to my Fort Calhoun walk. It was nice to get outside on a relaxing and rejuvenating walk. I told DH I might need to take the stroller just to feel right. He thought it adds to my workout but I'd be about 50 pounds light today.
I'm still trying to get my NEW YEAR LAUNCH in order. My aspirations include regular tracking, exercise in addition to the steps from running my head off, posting and keeping my support systems active. I also want to accomplish a few project type jobs each week. Sometimes just treading water is about full time, but along with Nancy, I want to keep swimming.
I found an incubator on a buy sell trade for what seemed like a good price. It holds 18 dozen eggs at once. I bought it for my neighbor boys who want to hatch and sell chickens , quail, and pheasants. Trying it out with a few eggs, I have 15 viable eggs that should hatch tomorrow or the next day. I don't know which kinds have survived because I was collecting them when it was frigid. Some I got still warm, while others had gotten cold. I didn't know what was tolerated Temps. Yesterday I saw the same incubator that we got for three times what we paid for it. Also on the bst site. We sort of understood I do chicken friend things with the boys, and their Dad keeps our snow cleared on our long drive. So far we've had no snow!! And they hunt on our land and are just good neighbors.
I hope to hear from more people when they recover from the partying and return to active routines.

Good NY afternoon. Welcome, 2017! I just spend 45 minutes doing a video in front of mirrors that did not lie. I was happy to finish it with pink cheeks, damp shirt, and joints that loosened up and began to feel normal again. I have tracked my day so far.
Nancy, I am so pleased for you! I hope you enjoy your new gig -- I bet you will. And I chime in with you regarding DD's at-home for NYE complaints -- DS and I worked so hard, we did not go out often or late. NYE was a family affair. No regrets. I finished a book and am now bereft, waiting for the next one in the series, which I have no idea of its proposed publication date. There surely will be one, because it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.
The sun is shining and it would do me good to go outside and sweep up more wind-blown leaves on the patio while I am still sticky. I am avoiding the work pile -- I am an ace at focused completion under the gun!

Happy New Year to all the CATs!! Here's to a better 2017 than 2016.
My vertigo twirling showed up at the scale on Saturday. Down 4.6 lbs. I like the fact I am seeing a middle number of 8 but will see how I hold on to it this week. Haven't heard of the Half Somersault Maneuver, will research later.
I wasn't feeling confident on driving so had DH as my chauffer. Got groceries and walked to library to return stuff that couldn't be renewed. (It was a good thing as I was running out of books.) After lunch, we both felt the need for a nap. No alarm set so slept for 4.5 hrs. Felt so much better when awoke. Was reading when I heard fireworks at 10pm and later. Went to sleep with earplugs, fabulous invention.
Called and actually talked with DMom yesterday. I miss her. She is heading home on Tuesday, she has been forewarned about her weather.
I like the thought about when a door closes, a window opens. Hoping that means the phone interview request becomes something much bigger.
Frieda - ((HUGS)) Nancy - Glad you & DH had a quiet NYE. I'm in agreement with Linda on you watching your Grandkids unlimited. You have raised your kids, you shouldn't have to raise hers too. (Other than B1G) Congrats on your new job. DN knows you will do a great job. Shari - DH would have called tow truck to have it towed. Linda - You scored on the incubator. You have good neighbors.
Time for a snack....Sending HUGS to all. martha

I'll post my resolutions later this week. I need to do some reflection and focus on improving me. Nancy, I think this job will be the best thing for you!! With your experience, it will be all good. I wish I could help you too. I think that's all I'll post for today. I did get my TM time in today. I enjoy it so much, since I've discovered streaming.
See you tomorrow. Frieda.
