Color me clueless. If I say yes to disabling my ad blocker, as proboards is demanding every few minutes, does it only affect this site? TIA! Also, is it more annoying to see the ads, or to have to click off the disable request constantly?

lani,I use Adblock Plus. WHen I click on ABP icon, I have options to disable on this page, this website, or completely turn it off. So it would depend on how you disabled your adblocker. As far as which is most annoying, I think that is a personal preference.

itsrad, I don't consider myself a dimwit with technology, but I have had no luck getting rid of all the Adblock screaming...I have everything *checked* in options, and am not sure what else to do. If I was going to enter this site into a whitelisted domain, I'm not sure how to list this site. TiA.

ksbruns, On my computer I can click on the Adblock icon on the top bar of my browser, and click "disable on wwmessageboard.freeforums.net. I don't know if your Adblock add-on works the same way, since I assume it may be slightly different depending on the computer and browser. I am using a MacBook w/ Firefox.

Thanks, itsrad; I just seem to have gotten myself in such a snarl, I think it will take a trip to the Apple Store to work it out (I'm on Safari.) For some reason, I can not uninstall my adblockers (I have two, long story). But, I'll look back at this if I ever get back to the point that your answer would help me!

i don't know if this has to do with ad blocking or not, but starting yesterday, proboards forces my screen to scroll down to the bottom to watch a video ad that i cannot pause. the audio is also loud and clear on this stupid video ad despite the fact that i have my laptop sound set to mute.
is anyone else encountering this? being forced to watch the video ad? even when i try to scroll back up to where i was on the page, it scrolls me immediately right back to the bottom to watch the ad. i am getting supremely annoyed because it's affecting my ability to read through the threads. i'm using google chrome on my work laptop but this also happened yesterday with safari on my macbook.

finreporter, I checked the support forums and they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it. So hopefully it is a short term irritant.

Greetings: I'm having ad-blocking issues. I was prevented from logging in for several days, I couldn't get on the other side of a big message plastered on the screen. The thing is, I haven't done any conscious ad blocking. At least nothing I recognized as ad blocking. Except. I had ads flying up from the right corner of my screen no matter whether I was on the internet or using something else. I did finally find something to stop that, but I had to. Those ads prevented me from using whatever program I was on and I had to stop and deal with them before I could go on.
But the page that comes up now just says to remove it. But doesn't say how or what. I'm willing to have the ads around the edges of these pages, if that's what is needed, but there is nothing about how to restore those ads. I am NOT willing to have ads fly up and take over my screen until I address them, no matter where they are from.
I seem to have a momentary reprieve from the ad blocking. Any ideas anyone?

karen8787 it sounds like you have some kind of malware, because this site wouldn't cause any issues with ads like you are describing. www.howtogeek.com/441321/does-your-computer-have-a-virus-heres-how-to-check/Here's a great article with a good walk-through on how to check. Good luck! *The ads on this forum are found in the top and bottom of the page and buried in the middle of posts if you are on the "mobile" version. They never block you from logging on or "pop up".

Well, darn. I wrote a post about this then tried to copy the message and that made the post I wrote go away.
It's not malware as far as I can see. Every piece of what comes up has proboards on it. The message is in the vein of... how could I do this to proboards? I should support, etc. etc. etc. In order to get on this time I clicked on "yes, I fixed it" when , of course, I didn't because I haven't a clue as to how to fix it!
It just says, remove ad blocker. It doesn't say, do this, then this then this, etc.
It does offer me the opportunity to pay 2.99 per month for ad-free browsing of all pro boards forums, but that's not what I'm interested in.
If the messages just gave directions, I'd work at complying, but I can't find any direction on what to actually do. My son came over and made sure I accepted the cookies, which I'd done, but he couldn't figure it out either. Pro Boards is on what comes up and I have a good malware program.
Just frustrating.

karen8787 wow that sounds bizarre. Definitely not something proboards would do. Here's something to try. Click the "report ad" button at the very bottom of this page. (I am not sure what format you are using it it should show up at the bottom of all the pages.) Maybe they can figure out what is going on, I am sure they would want to know, we haven't had anyone else mention this and neither itsrad or I are seeing it. Hm. The link is on the line that says terms of service | privacy | cookies | etc. It is the very last thing.

karen8787 I just hopped over to the ProBoards support forum to double-check this was a response they had posted to someone asking the same question. " We do not condone ads with automatic pop-ups. " - Scott And he suggested the same thing I did, to use the "report ad" link at the very bottom and they will investigate.
