Hi!
Weight slipped into the 121s this morning! Hope to keep that up, tomorrow is my first day of interning and I'll be on my feet all day, I'm there from 9-5pm.
Joan, I'm looking forward to seeing Hidden Figures as well, it already won an award. There's a lot of good food lately in the Netherlands lots of restaurants that are the tops in the world.
Jojo, happy birthday to your DH! Better to celebrate birthday when he will be feeling better than now when he's in pain. I am getting more white in my hair!
Holly, who is the shawl for? Well I am enjoying the mild winter we're having here.
Wifi is back, apparently the guy who was here yesterday took my wire out and left it dangling!!! The 2 guys here today for me said this was a new guy and they'll let him know what he did.
I did homework and went to the gym. SO's plane delayed 30 min, he should be here soon.

Sue - exciting that you are starting the interning tomorrow! I'm sure you will be very tired when you get home. I know you must be happy to have the Wifi back!
Holly - I went to the Knit Picks site and ended up buying a bunch of stuff - yarn and books!
Tonight - salmon, baby limas, and squash.
Sue - great on the wt. I lost about 1/2 lb when I was so sick - probably won't stay off but will see. Are you planning a welcome home dinner tonight?

Everything is about ready except for setting the table---just cleaned off all the countertops and put the last few cooking dishes away. I am having a fairly filling salad so no potatoes---plus making beer bread again---figured with baby back ribs that was enough. Made a lemon pound cake in my new longer bread pan---makes a lower cake---kind of nice for dessert dishes--not so large a slice. I will go get some lemon curd out of the freezer and perhaps dab on a bit of it with some whipped cream for dessert. Ribs will be done in 20 minutes and bread is about to buzz.
Did my chair core exercises today and Tanzi heard me breathing heavily---exaggerated to help engage the core---and about had a fit---I think she thought I was dying---sort of like a service dog!
I'm sitting and standing 30 times in 30 seconds now with arms crossed on my chest---really pumps up the heart rate.
DH has been watching football all afternoon.
I fertilized my veggie garden today---it looks good---more arugula to cut and two brocolli' are about 3 weeks from harvesting. They look really healthy. Time to get some snap peas planted this week and more onions.
Good luck on your internship, Sue--will be a pretty intense day---plus long--guess you're used to the intensity. I want to go see the movie Lion---wow, I heard it's really good as well.
Gotta go change clothes and set table.

Hi all,
I am off today for MLK. These three day weekends are nice, but I'm getting restless.
JoJo, KnitPicks is great isn't it? The yarn is so affordable.
Joan, Charlotte freaks out when I do the bike. I think it must be a movement thing.
Sue, the mild weather is nice, but I have so many pretty winter scarves I'd like to wear. The shawl is for my mom.

Good day ! We are off to DS's to pick up the kids after school and do dinner for them. Looks like rain will come in here some time today - very dreary now.
Yes, Holly - the site is nice. I got 6 skeins of yarn, 2 rounds of crocheting thread, and 2 books for $50.00! Pretty good I thought.

Good morning, all! Just had some cottag cheese and oranges for lunch with a bit of rodeo salad---went to breakfast this morning with DH's sister in law from first marriage---we have been friends for years---her kids went to my school and she subbed there for me at times. After that DH and I took a fairly decent length walk and lucky we did as the wind has come up since and I wouldn't feel like it now! Guess I will work on the picture transfers to the new computer---I'm getting close to finished. Working on those taken by DH with his iphone now.
Dinner went well last night---our friends travel so much---we talked about climate change and man's imprint on the planet---he loves India and went recently on a three week photo tour that ended with a couple days in Delhi=---he said the pollution was so bad that people all over the huge city were getting ill---he was sick for two weeks starting with those two days and after coming home and he said he feels as tho' his lungs are permanently affected. He was ticking off example after example of what he has seen in his travels that is really frightening---and he said over population is just upping the speed of the loss of life as we know it so much---started telling us which animals will disappear in the wild in our lifetime---and he talked about Vietnam and the crowding---it was a little depressing to hear. They went to Cambodia too and liked it better---said not quite as crowded as Vietnam. They don't have the books of their trip made yet so saw no pictures. We played cards after dinner---was fun.
JoAnne, I guess you are feeling better? Hope so. So you will have DGS all week?
Oh, Sue, I thawed out one jar of my lemon curd and low and behold, it is fine---put a little on the lemon pound cake with some whipped cream and it was truly delicious. So I guess the cold firmed it up okay.
Holly, is the shawl for your mom's birthday or just a nice gift? Wonder why Charlotte doesn't like the bike. Maybe you could have a couple treats handy that you gave her on biking breaks so she would look forward to your time on the bike.
I'm sitting on my new stool at the island and just love being in the kitchen---wow, customer satisfaction when it comes to my kitchen choices!! I could do an ad! Our friends last night had not seen it and really loved it---he is an artist in many ways---photography, designing , collecting, woodwork---he kept saying over and over that he felt as tho' he were in an entirely different house---made me feel good as I know he has a good eye! LOL

Joan - glad your dinner went well!
I was so stupid. Thought I was to help with picking the kids up from school and doing dinner today, Tues, and Thurs. - DS will be off Wed. and DDIL will be getting back Fri. lunch. Forgot that today is MLK Day and the schools are closed and DS is off. We rushed over there to be there when the bus got there but all were already home, of course! Anyway, back home now and think about dinner!

Hi!
Exhausted! I have not been on my feet for this amount of time, almost 10 hrs before I finally sat down on the couch tonight. Very interesting day. Being in culinary school definitely helps in knowing my way around a professional kitchen, how they do things, etc. They gave me 1/2 of 2 breakfast sandwiches that they serve so that I could taste it, I ate half and took the other half back home, SO just ate it.
I did mostly prep and cutting today.
Joan, glad the lemon curd turned out perfectly! 60 Minutes did a segment a month ago or so about the guy behind the true story, his journey was amazing.
Jojo, sorry about the wasted trip!
Holly, sounds like a good idea to give Charlotte a treat when you're going on the bike.
I bought special "chef" shoes, got them today. They seem big, I think I'll try them tomorrow.

Heading to yoga---did another Gilmore Girls marathon last night for a couple hours. Signed up for the Women's March in Vegas on Saturday---so hoping it's huge.
Sue, that is a very long day on your feet---OMG--you must have been wiped out---is this five days a week? Was half a sandwich all you had all day?
JoAnne, we joked with our friends Sunday night about having no sense of holidays after being retired for some time! I thought they wouldn't want to play cards because of work the next day and then realized they were off!
poached egg and avocado and toast this morning. Called my dr and was shocked---didn't know I had his direct personal cell number and he answered---OMG, felt guilty, but it was actually perfect because I wanted a blood test order so I could go in tomorrow morning and get it done---my annual appt. is Monday. Hoping they get results in time!
Morning, Holly!

Hi all,
Glad to be back at work.
Joan, I wish I could just contact my doctor directly and not have to deal with the receptionists because he goes to my church, and I like him a lot better than the receptionists. I know there would be people who would abuse that privilege though if there wasn't a middle person
Sue, wow, that is a long time to be on your feet!
JoJo, holidays can really throw things off.

Hi! Taking a break between interning this morning 8am-1pm and class tonight 5:30-11pm. Had to go to the post office after interning, but took a cab back home, my feet are hurting!
I intern 8 hours on Monday, 5 on Tues, then class tues-thurs night, and wed-thurs afternoons. Wed-Thurs I'll be in school from 1pm to 11pm, ugh. Just got to power through this.

Did my yoga and then my weights class at the gym---wow, the last class was full---35 people---six men showed up---wish DH would go---really love that class. Am going to move up to 6 pound weights on Friday. I can tell it's time.
Heading to TJ's and another store to get supplies to make my Rodeo Salad to take to the pot luck there tomorrow and the brain health presentation---I have two friends who are going to go and have the memory test---they don't do the gym there but it's free to anyone for this presentation.
Worked on Computer pictures all day yesterday after yoga---have 20,000 pictures transferred from both our devices and our regular cameras---have thrown out at least 17,000! Now I can start making photo books with Apple and then dump some more. The new computer is lightning fast so making books should be a breeze!
Eating more avocado the past two days and doing so much better---no sugar, no bad snacks---so gotta' go get some more carrots and apples!

Holly, I don't think so as far as the storm. Rainy but warm here for the next few days. Getting anxious for my yarn and books to come!
We went to the MD today as a follow=up today for the surgery that DH had. He has an infection in the belly button area where they took the fat for his eye socket. I noticed a rash yesterday in the belly button and this morning it had increased about 1/ 1/2 in. out. It looks like a possible fungus infection (very possible since DH is insulin resistant). The surgeon agreed and ordered him Diflucan if it is a fungal infection and Keflex in case it is a bacterial infection. Hope it takes care of it. He started on it tonight.
Went to the grocery store this afternoon and wore myself out! DH wanted to go to a movie tonight but I said NO, I was way to tired.

Had sirfry veggies and tomatoe red pepper soup (TJ"s in a box) with their little 3 cheese crackers---33 of them is only 2 WW pts.---better than soda crackers for me---made DH a big steak and I wan't even tempted---was craving tomato soup as they had it out for tasting at TJ's and I remembered that I had bought some and had not used it.
DH's latest obsession has been tv carriers---he for some reason decided he hates DISH which is what we have---so he got Direct TV through ATT since they bought it---he did lock it in for $60 a month for 2 years since we have ATT for everything else they were willing to do so---so it does save about $50 a month. Means I have to learn a new system starting tomorrow---need to watch a couple of my DVR's things tonight as we will start with a blank slate tomorrow. He's been obsessing about this for about 2 or 3 months so at least I don't have to hear about it anymore!! LOL
I guess there is a big storm moving in---will get rain again tonight and maybe tomorrow. Center of NV expecting a lot of snow. I think there will be high winds as well as DD in CA said the wind there was crazy along with lots of rain---it's moving east.
I can't believe how much more satisfied I feel eating wise with starting to eat more avocado again---makes a huge difference. No craving today---and I even was faced with a possible slip up and didn't get tempted. Hoping this lasts! I feel as though I am developing a slight toothache---oh my, I hope not!

Hi!
Quick check in. Super busy with school, exhausted every night, got home almost 10pm last night. We had a trial last night serving dishes for the wait staff to taste the food. Tonight we have real customers, not that many though there were supposed to be 10 people but some canceled.
