Good morning Ginny and all. It's another hot day here but I do see that in CJ's area it's hot and muggy so I'll keep that in mind that others have it worse so I can't complain.
I did crochet last evening and am getting ready to change to the border color on this doll blanket. I didn't feel much like crocheting for a few days. I'm still working on diet to keep the cystitis in check. Sure am finding that diet does have a lot to do with it. When I don't feel like crocheting I look at more patterns to get my inspired. I found some patterns for doll diapers last evening. Not that a person would really need a pattern. I was going to make the dolls some undies but these diapers seem easier and they're cute.
I hope all of you have a blessed and therefore wonderful week.
I'll bbl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's very hot here and humid too. I went out earlier to get some groceries and also to go by a local farm market. I got some nice green beans to cook and have again this week. I also got some peaches but there weren't good - it's hit and miss with those. I'm still hoping to find some nice fresh ones this Summer. Hope you are all getting in some crafting.

Hello Ginny, Ruth, cj & Phyl,
We are enjoying another 100+ day and it feels humid. I just turned the A/C on and already it feels a bit cooler. I will be staying home today. I was able to crochet several inches of my b/blanket yesterday while I listened to an audio book. I don't have anything planned for today so I will probably knit or crochet and start another audio book.
Ruth, your DGDs are blessed to have a DGM who spends hours making clothes for their dolls. It is a good way for you to use up odd balls of yarn left over from other projects.
cj, being able to get fresh fruit at this time of the year is great. We are enjoying the fresh fruit, cantaloupes and water melon we cut up and keep it ready in the refrigerator. I also enjoy the peaches and nectarines. I have to watch that I don't eat too much fruit.
I will check back later. In the meantime keep cool.

Good evening!
Ruth, indeed you are having some hot weather- sure seems almost too hot to craft. Doll clothes are great though, small in scale and not big and heavy. I am really glad to hear that you have found dietary triggers for the cystitis! Can I be so nosey to ask what foods you have to avoid? I am just trying to educate myself, that is all. How are you feeling, is it slowly going into remission? And what a dear you are, you never complain.
CJ- well i just looked at your temps for the next week or so, and I bet you cannot wait for fall. Indeed peaches can be very hit or miss- our local ones are a few weeks away. What do you do with the green beans? Do you have a favorite recipe?
Meg, well you are the only one among us getting any crafting in! Best to stay home today in the heat.... are you feeling better from the iron infusions? It's a great idea keeping cut up melon in the fridge! QUick and ready to eat. Yummmm.
Hot here too my friends, but I have to say not quite as hot as each of you is facing. THe A/C is on, and the dehumidifier is going downstairs. I have had to dump the water from that twice today. It's very humid. This am I got a head start on dinner, and then headed out to do some landscaping. It was hot and muggy but I got almost all I wanted to done. Will finish it tomorrow. I dislike gardening.../landscaping, but sure do like the finished look. Hopefully what I did today will make it neater out there and perhaps reduce some maintenance. Hope to get a little bit of embroidery in shortly, while Dh has a a baseball game on.
I am sure Phyl is busy- hope she is doing well. Stay cool! Ginny

Hello all. CJ, It's great you got some more fresh green beans. Are you going to make them with ham again? Peaches here too are iffy. Sometimes you can't eat any because they're so mealy.
Meg, thank you for saying that. My dil had told me one time that the girls didn't play with dolls or I would have been making them doll clothes all along. Now the older ones have outgrown dolls. I do bet they help their little sisters too though.I'm glad you have the a/c to help with the awful temps. do you have your iron infusions once a week? I still haven't gotten anything together to listen to while crocheting. My hearing isn't good so I'd need to use headphones or earbuds connected to the computer or my discman depending on what I want to listen to I haven't had much luck finding a book I want to listen to lately.
Ginny, you are so sweet to say that but I do complain. IN the last few days I've been ingesting things I shoulldn't so it's been back to being very painful again. Today I reviewed online the foods I should avoid and found exactly what I thought...that I should have expected a flare up because I've drank diet Squirt which has both artificial sweeteners and citric acid, I've had tomatoes, and I've had chocolate and have let my coffee intake creep up.All those are foods know to cause problems. So in the days before my next doctor appt I'm going to cut all those out and see what happens and if it's not better I'm going to seriously discuss this with her. I hadn't been able to see my regular doctor and had to see a substitute. Now I'll see the regular one and really talk about where we're going to go with this.I did try Azo and maybe it would have been worse if I hadn't taken it but it really didn't seem to help.I'm going to ask for a med that's specifically for spasms because that's what's the most painful
You're sure right about putting those squares together. It's definitely a fall project. Even making these little blankets makes me very warm so you're right too that the small items are the best thing to work on right now.
I know you're glad to have that landscaping work done for now. It does make our yards look better but it's a lot of work. My dh and i were out doing some the evening before last.Couldn't do any yesterday because of the pain but maybe now that I'm back on track with eating the right things I'll be able to do more. It's also great that you got a head start on dinner. Did you make something really yummy? I hope you are able to get some embroidery in. Do you have much to go on the pillow cases?
Our temp didn't get up to all that high today but it sure felt hot. We don't have a/c so we just sit in front of the fan. Dh sits in the "winter apartment" because it's also cooler in the summer as well as warmer in the winter. I hate being cooped up down there.
See you all tomorrow and I do hope that you will all have a good evening and a good night's sleep. I'll be praying for that and any concerns that you all may have. I may not know what they are specifically but God does

Good afternoon! Just finishing up my lunch after a morning of gardening. I did finish the small project I started yesterday- and yes that one small area looks much cleaner and neater. Now I am back inside- looking forward to a peaceful afternoon.
Ruth, well here you really do not complain. Funny the foods you listed are trigger foods for a lot of ailments. Do you feel you are improving at all? When is the next doctor appointment? And if I am being too nosey, ignore my questions and please forgive me. Thanks for praying for us....I remember once reading a book on prayer in which the author lamented "if I am praying for others, who will be praying for me?". Indeed its a blessing that we are all here for each other in many different capacities.
Phyl, thanks for giving us the info on the new baby blanket. Will have to go to lion brand and check it out....the colors you picked are so pretty!! Hope that you enjoyed sew and sew.
got to work on the pillow case last night....and I am nearing the end of the first one. It felt good to get some embroidery time in.
Think Dh and I are heading to the farmers market. BBL G

Ginny, I don't believe you're being nosey at all! My next doctor appt is Aug 1st. Yes I do think this is improving until I started drinking a can of squirt every day because of the hot weather and also upped my coffee intake. I used to drink all tea at home. It's just as bad for IC as coffee. They have a large list of foods and beverages that are known to irritate the bladder. Basically they're foods that are known as acid ash foods. And you're right, they are also known for being trigger foods for other conditions because of the acidity.Spicy foods is another one I eat a lot and can't right now.
I finished the doll blanket last evening and was going to start on the last one but computer game got me and I was also reading.
It would be great if there were farmer's markets here.Nothing is grown here though. One person grows corn and has a pick your own plan and every year many, many people rush there to pick it. I'm not a big fan of corn though. Occaisionally you see someone that has come up from Colorado and sets up in a parking lot to sell one or two things.Mostly peaches, roasted peppers, and the Rocky Ford cantelope. I haven't seen any lately so I guess it's not time yet
Phyl, your bb sounds beautiful. I hate making chevrons but they are pretty. The colors you're using sound perfect..like a strawberry plant
Ginny, what you quoted about who's praying for me reminds me of a country music song entitled "who'll pray for me when Mama's Gone"

Just a quick post before I tale a nap. I have ben on the go all morning. I had my 2nd iron infusion this morning. On theway home I did a couple of errands andfilled my car up. There was a very nice breeze this morning and it felt good. But by the time I got home it was getting hot though the temp will be in the 90s for a few days. . I did do some reading. I intended to do some crocheting but I just didn't.
Phyl, you always sound busy and you seem to really enjoy life. The colors for your b/blank sound really pretty I am sure it will be beautiful when it is finished. Enjoy sit and sew.
Ruth, I thought those Red Heart patterns might interest you. I hope you can work on your diet and find what works for you.
Ginny I am sure your pillow case will look very pretty when you get it finished.
I am going to take a quick nap, I will check back later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sounds like everyone is getting some time in working on projects, I enjoy reading about them. I cook my green beans with a package of the Smithfield "Ham Hocks or Butts Sliced" that I buy in the grocery store. It provides a nice flavor to a large pot of green beans. I take the ham pieces out after I cook the green beans, since they are kind of fatty. My mother used to use Salt Pork in her green beans, but I found I liked the Ham Hocks better. I made some more stewed rhurbarb today and this time after it was cooked I stired in a few tablespoons of Strawberry Jam, and then a little more sugar and some cinnamon, it tasted pretty good. I'm going out later this week to the Amish Market and also to stop by a roadside farm market and I'm hoping I might find some good peaches there. Take care everyone!

Meg, yes I loved the patterns. Thank you for sending the link. Have a nice nap
Cj, you were posting as aI was typing. The green beans do really sound good. and you know how I love stewed rhubarb. I hope you can find some good things at the Amish store and the farmer's market.Back in western Ny we were able to drive out to the countryside and find wonderful fruits and veggies. I esp liked the many varieties of winter squash they sold and the peaches.

Good afternoon!
Ruth, glad you finished the doll blanket- which I am sure will be loved by your DGD. I know when my mom made doll blankets for my daughters they loved them..... Glad that you have another doctor appt soon- I think those follow up appointments do help most to stay on track and show greater interest in the boring stuff, like what dietary changes do I need to make? To make sure you drink enough have you ever made fruit infusions or herbal iced tea? With both at least the water tastes like something nice, and is missing all the artificial stuff and acids that upset our bodies. And Ruth, I love the new avatar.
CJ- well you are all set with that batch of beans, which sounds So very good. Best of luck at the Amish farmers market- hope you can find some good fruits and veggies. You get my vote for adding the strawberry jam to the rhubarb- are you eating it as is or using it as a spread?
Meg-glad you got that infusion in!! How long does it take for you to start to feel better? Stay cool, stay hydrated....I think most of us are taking a brief hiatus from crafting in this heat.
Busy am - back from a lot of errands. I went to Walmart for a bunch of things, and was hoping that they would have mulch so that I could finish my little gardening project. I only needed one more bag.....well asked the garden center when I got there and the guy said. "Over around the corner.". So over and around the corner I went.....and saw that the brown mulch i needed was a dollar a bag! (Usually 4 to 6 dollars depending on where you buy it). My momma did not raise a fool....the guy saw the big smile on my face- and then he loaded 2 bags in the cart....does buying mulch count as crafting? Somehow I doubt it, but it makes for a funny story.
Guess we are in for 3 days near or at 90. Yuck.
Will stop back in later to see who else visits with us. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and staying cool Ruth - I did like the rhurbard with the strawberry jam in it. I would have added strawberries but the ones at the store have looked really terrible for the last two weeks. Hopefully I can find some good ones at the Amish Market. The green beans were really good again too - I get 3 or 4 days of eating with a big pot full. Ginny - I've just been eating the rhubarb, it seems kind of like applesauce to me. One of my favorite sayings is "my momma didn't raise a fool" I'm so happy you found the mulch you needed and at a great price too! Meg and Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. I'm not doing much, it's just too hot for me to be motivated. I just try to get my exercise done in the morning and then just do things around the house the rest of the day. I really have the desire to work on some projects, but just don't seem motivated to do them. Hopefully I will again soon. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone, I didn't sleep well last night so at 4 a.m. I decided to get up and I worked on my b/blanket and listened to an audio book for an hour and then went back to bed and fell asleep. I got up really late this morning but I don't have to be anywhere today so that's OK.
Ginny, I have a series of 5 infusions, one each week so I have 3 more to go. I will have an upper GI test in August to see if I am bleeding internally. I have had that problem before when a vein in my stomach was leaking. They cauterized it while they were in there. This has happened twice and has probably happened again. I am glad you were able to finish your landscaping project and what a great buy on the mulch.
cj, I love rhubarb. In Ireland we used to eat with custard pudding. I haven't seen any rhubarb in the store this year. I wonder if I could grow it here. The strawberry jam sounds like a good idea. The rhubarb is runny so you don't need much water when you stew it. I have been wondering whether a little corn starch might be used to thicken it. As I don't have any rhubarb I can't experiment.
Ruth, Hope you find some good fresh green beans and fresh fruit. I have never cooked green beans at least not the type found here.
I need to get dressed.. Have a good afternoon and stay cool.
