National Pennsylvania Day* National Moon Day National Lollipop Day Get to Know Your Customers Day β Third Thursday of Each Quarter "National Moon Day is observed annually on July 20 and commemorates the day man first walked on the moon in 1969. NASA reported the moon landing as being ββ¦the single greatest technological achievement of all time.β On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed the first humans, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the moon. Armstrong stepped first onto the lunar surface, six hours after landing and spent two and a half hours outside the spacecraft. Aldrin spent slightly less time but together they collected 47.5 pounds of lunar material to bring back to Earth. Michael Collins piloted Apollo 11 and remained alone in orbit until Armstrong and Aldrin returned. Watched by millions, the event was broadcast on live TV to a world-wide audience and all witnessed as Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface and described the event as βone small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."" nationaldaycalendar.com/national-moon-day-july-20/I was 6.5 years old but I remember how cool this was and I totally wanted to grow up to be an astronaut after watching! I also remember every where we went for weeks after people were asking if we watched and talking about it. π©βπ

It was very exciting. I totally remember it. And people did talk about it for a long time afterward. I think people weren't so jaded then.

I did, summer before I started HS....it felt huge, and actually, still does! It felt like a world where anything was possible....now to remember that and take care of it.

I was 22 at the time and I remember being outside looking at the moon, it was visible even though it was daylight and thinking "there is a man up there walking around."

Why do I have no memory of this event whatsoever? Is this an early sign of dementia or Alzheimers? I was working my very first jobβfor the Federal governmentβso you'd think there would have been enough hoopla there to have made an impression. Weird.
