Ginny, I don't get to Hobby Lobby much as it's on the other side of town. I hae never seen any classes offered ther unfortunately. I know it's a Christian run store and is closed on Sunday. They do have some nice fabric and I don't think that it's all that expensive. I was just wondering yesterday where I could get batting and forgot HL. I like the music they play.
Meg, I would love it if we lived close to one another and could work on our knitting and crocheting together and I'd be thrilled to show you anything you need to know about Crocheting. I'm far from an expert but I'm not too bad at it.
Ginny, thanks for mentioning football. I forgot todaywas Saturday and that the playoffs are on. I like both the teams that are on now and feel so bad for the Raiders that they finally are getting back into winning and now not only does their quarterback have a broken leg but the backup is injured too.
Cj,I didn't get my hat ends weaved in but at least I did get to my patterns that are in my bookmarks online.they were all mixed up in folders they shouldn't have been in like hats in the baby blanket folder, etc.
And no, Ginny, we won't laugh. I've done the same thing in restarting something multiple times. Or decided on making something different like I'm doing with dgs' hat or afgan. I'm hoping to make both but it depends on how much I get done and when.My goal today is to put the finishing touches on the shawl, finish dgs's hat with beard and at least start dgd's hat.
I probably should make it a point to completely finish one thing before starting another.
After these two projects I'll see if there's something that dgd who's bday is in March wants me to make something and if not I'll try a couple of those pillowcases.
I spent a lot of yesterday watching youtube videos including some of the Missouri Star ones and saw a good one for self binding baby blanket and one for burp cloths. The one for burp cloths answer my question from 10 years ago about what fabric my dil's aunt used to make the baby quilt she sent to my dil. Looks to me that the chenille I saw in the burp cloth youtube was that fabric. I'm definitely going to have to look for that at Hobby Lobby to make some of those for my dgd who is having the baby in Aug. I think the other two are probably old enough now that they don't have to be burped. I can't really remember how long you have to burp babies.Thoe two are now 3 and 4 months old.

Good evening!
Meg, so sorry that you did not sleep well..think we all know how lousy that is! Yes, we all wish we lived closer to you and Ruth- both of you could teach a lot about crochetting and knitting. Hope you sleep well tonight!!
CJ- what a cute theme for a quilt! Do you have a fabric with spools or will you have to find one? I think that's half the fun of quilting- getting the fabrics selected. Nice that you have most of the fabric already!! Hope your snow melts quickly.
Ruth- I would think by 6 months all need fo a burp cloth is over- the babies can sit up well by themselves and burp themselves. Yes, I love the music they play at Hobby Lobby. We were looking for a picture album for my MIL- and found one at HL online. I called the local store to see if they had it in the store, while she put me on hold I got to listen to instrumental hymns. Dh even likes it there- it's the only craft store he can stand.
It snowed here for several hours- so we stayed home. Got a ton of housework done, and some crochetting too. I am most definitely sticking with this pattern, which is working up well for me.
Have a good night! Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad to hear the pattern you're working on now is working out for you. I've only tried a ripple once and kept losing track of the skip threes and the crochet three into the stitch to make the ripples. My mil, dh's stepmother that is, made us a ripple afgan years ago and she somehow kept adding to the edges to it kept getting wider just on the sides. She wouldn't tell us who she was making it for and told us about it getting wider in that last panel at each side and I told her that if the person she was making it for wasn't thrilled with it the way it was they didn't deserve to have something that she made with love and from her heart. All the time it was for us and of course, we still have it. I even still have one that his grandmother made us which she made from granny squares. The squares started coming apart in the middle of the squares, not where they're sewed together. I'm sure it will be thrown away some day but it won't be by me.
Yes Meg could show all of us about knitting and we could both show you two about crocheting and you could show me about quilting. It would be fantastic.
Yes I do love those hymns. In fact I keep thinking I need to get my instrumental hymn dvd's and put into my computer to listen to while crocheting but I keep forgetting to get them out until I'm downstairs here and am too lazy to walk back upstairs.
Now since it's 9:20, if I'm going to get those things done that I mentioned earlier I'd better get busy. I've done other things all day and now it's time to buckle down.
Have a good night everyone and Meg, I do hope you get some sleep.

Good cold afternoon!!!!
Well, our indoor outdoor cat has made the executive decision not to go out in the 15 degree weather here. Gee I wonder why? It's cold, the snow is blowing around and is a good day to crochet and watch football.
Ruth, during the very stressful last year's of my mom's life, I used to put instrumental hymns on Pandora, and fall asleep to them every night. They are so soothing....and such a blessing to listen to the words silently- within your mind.
I agree we should meet in Nebraska or somewhere like that and have a convention, sharing our ideas of crafting with each other!! It would sure be lovely- but I do consider myself blessed knowing each of you through this format.
I am continuing with the ripple.....yes, this pattern is a winner!
Have a great day all! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you have enjoyed your Sunday I haven't done anything for my Slow Stitch Sunday yet today, but I'm determined to get at least one more candy cane embroidered before end of the day. I still have 5 left to do. I also went through some more quilt books today and I've made a list of patterns that I really liked. I've had the books sitting around for years, so I really want to use them. I've always wanted to make a Double Irish Chain quilt and I thought I'd make it in reds and creams, but there was one in the book in rose colored fabric and cream and it was really pretty. You all will probably find this funny - I dreamed last night that I had to carry a bolt of fabric down some cities streets and then through a subdivision of houses. What a strange dream Ginny - It's really cold here too, hope you can stay warm. Glad to hear your ripple pattern is working well for you. I received a Mary Maxim catalog in the mail yesterday and they had some pretty ripple afgans in there. Ruth - We don't have a Hobby Lobby around here but one is being built about an hour from me. Once it's open I might go there just to check it out. Fortunately I have a JoAnn Fabrics only about 20 minutes away, so I get most of my supplies there. I'm glad you found some MSQC patterns that you. Jenny Doan is enjoyable to watch, she explains things so well. Sounds like you have some projects lined up now. Meg - Hope you are doing well and rested better these last few nights. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. We have a radio station here that has plays Gospel music on Sunday mornings from 6-10. I usually try to listen to some of that on Sundays. There are several hymns that I really love too. Take care everyone

Hello all. I didn't get much crafting done yesterday because I was trying to learn to do the chainless single crochet foundation stitch. I can do it ok but once I stop or make a mistake I have to take the whole thing out because I can't find the right stitch to go back into. I would just go back to a normal chain but once I try something I want to learn how to do it. I did look up the crocodile stitch but haven't worked on that yet so it will be a project for later when I have more time.
I don't know what Pandora is but it sounds like something nice. I listen on my computer with earphones because otherwise I can't hear well. I always use closed captioning on tv. And I also don't like noise except thru earphones (or earbuds..whatever)
I watched part of the fist football game then took a ride down to the mailbox. It's warmer here today. My therm said 39 but there is a strong wind.
I once bought a book for the Irish chain but a friend borrowed it and never gave it back. She and I decided to do quilting so we bought fabric and tools but she got one quilt at least partly done and I got nothing done but washing the fabric.I did get a nice book when I went to the classes I took back in 03. Don't remember who wrote it but it was for beginners and I do still have it. I have a hard time with picking out fabric and knowing what will go together well. When I took the class the instructor pretty much picked out my fabric for me.. I really like log cabin quilts. Do people still make those?

Hello everyone from a very wet and wild Sacramento. I think most of the really heavy rain fell during the night. My driveway slopes down toward the house and I have drains along the front of the house. When it rains really hard the drains can't keep up with the water so we get some in the front part of our garage. I got up about 3a.m. and took a look and yes there was quite a bit of water. It has been raining all day but it is not a deluge so we are OK.
I seem to have got my nights and days mixed up and I am awake most of the night and I sleep later in the morning. Devin goes back to school tomorrow and some mornings I will be up by 7 30 a.m. and I hope I can get back to a better sleep routine. I have been reading a lot over the weekend, not an audio book so no knitting today so far. Perhaps this evening.
Ruth, I love to watch UTube videos and they are very helpful, some better than others. I think we will all be listening to hymns while we craft. When I first learned how to crochet I made several afghans using the ripple or chevron stitch. They all turned out very well and the edged were straight. Later when I tried to make one I couldn't keep the edges straight. I think I would like to try one again. I lost the pattern I used originally.
Ginny, that would be great if we could all meet up somewhere. I am not an expert knitter though I used to knit more complicated pattern. I really would like to crochet better. Thank you for the reminder to listen to some hymns. I do have some DVDs that I brought back from Ireland of Irish choirs. There is an anthem that I listen to sometimes on UTube it is titled " All In An April Evening" I think they have several recordings of various choirs singing it on UTube. The Welsh choirs are usually very good. I think it is usually sung at Easter.
cj, you are so good at organizing. I am an organizer but not great at staying with it at home. I can organize events. Strange dreams, you need an interpreter, there used to be a lady on the radio on Sat night and she had people call in and she would interpret dreams. I can never remember mine after I wake up.
phyl. hope you are staying home where it is warm and safe.
I wish you a warm cozy evening.

Just a short hello- Ruth - Pandora is computer software that you download- it's free- and you can then select an artist, or genre or song- and "Pandora" selects (endlessly) similar songs like that. (You can skip over songs you do not like). I would put it on an hour timer- so that I could fall asleep to hymns during a very difficult time. 39 degrees sounds like a heat wave! did the foot ball team win that you wanted to win? Yes, folks still make log cabin quilts- what a pretty pattern! CJ- I have some awesome double Irish chain instructions here- that was my first quilt! Do you need directions? THe ones I have are darned near fool proof, I would be happy to make a copy for you. And no, I do not think your dream odd- doesn't everyone carry fabric down the street? Meg, hope you kept the water out of your house....and hope that you get back to a more normal sleep regimen. I am sure you will miss Devin when he goes back to school tomorrow. Got a fair amount done on the baby afghan while watching the football game. Hard to believe tomorrow is MOnday! Hi to Phyl! Ginny

Hi Ginny, I was just told that Devin does not go back to school until Tuesday. The teachers are having a work day tomorrow. Do you go back to work tomorrow? I don't have plans to do anything tomorrow so it doesn't matter. It will be nice to get back into a regular routine again. "Pandora" sounds interesting I will have to see if I can find it. I might be able to download it to my Nook and then I could listen to it when I am trying to go to sleep.
Have a great evening.

Ginny, I was pretty sure the Steelers would walk all over the Dolphins and they did. I don't like the Packers or the Giants but I think I like the Packers less but as you know they won. I see that the Lions lost. Next week I'd like to see the Chiefs/Steelers game but it's on NBC and we can't get NBC here for some reason.
Meg, I sure hope that not too much water gets into your house. WE're supposed to get rain tomorrow since it's supposed to be warmer than today so maybe it will melt some of this snow. Our street is getting very narrow because of the snow piled at the sides.Just at our end though. We live in a subdivision that doesn't connect to any other so the street is basically a circle with a line thru it..another street...kinda like a Q with a line actually and we have no city (our "city" is under 60000) services so snow plowing is done by a company hired by the HOA.Right now we have HUGE piles of snow on our and the nearest neighbor's property which extends out into the street.Actually we probably won't really get much rain...we never do.
ok, I think I have the single crochet chainless foundation learned and have made progress on the beard to go with the hat so will go back to that.
had a scare earlier. Dh was having constant what he called palpitations and very rapid heartbeat. He wouldn't let me take him to the hospital and now he's ok and sleeping. I think he has afib but hasn't been diagnosed as such yet anyway.Since I can't really see to drive at night a trip to the hospital after dark is a scary thought too.
