We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Good morning! It's another rainy, gloomy day here. Kind of matches how I feel. I'm ready for some sunshine. Somehow things always seem less dire when the sun is shining. Did you ever notice that?
DT says he knows things others don't about the hacking which he will reveal today or tomorrow. Interesting. Wonder how he came about this "secret" information that even the intelligence agencies don't know. His crystal ball? His good buddy Putin? A Ouija Board? Or maybe just his own fertile imagination.
DD and family dropped by for a quick surprise visit late yesterday evening. That was a nice surprise for us all. They had spent the day with friends who live on the opposite side of Nashville, so stopped by here before going back home. They also went to the rehab center to visit with my mom. It is always good to see them. One thing about DGKs is that you can always count on them to make you smile.
Will check back later . . .

Hi
It's SNOWING again today. Had 5" during the night & now snowing heavily with wind. It's getting to the point where ther is no where to pile the snow from shoveling. I think it's going to be a LONG Winter in ND.
I agree, sun is the great healer for mood....my favorite thing to do is sit on front steps with a cup of tea & soak in the sun. Now I will be fighting off Winter Blues for a few months.
I just read where 2016 was just the appetizer with Tweety & what's to come after he's sworn in a few weeks will be so much worse. I get chills just thinking of it.
I said it before & I'll say it again, I bet Tweety is in deep financial debt to Russia & they are pulling the puppet strings or else the great Trump empire will come toppling down. So, he's going to tell "secrets" that others don't know or just tell us what he thinks & we are suppose to believe him because he said it & not Intel community. Ever wonder if the Intel community is PO'd enough to dig up stuff on Tweety himself. ?? Maybe that's what DT is afraid of & is trying now to make everyone doubt the Intel community so he can put doubt in the minds of everyone when they do dig up his garbage & it's "leaked" out. OMG, I just sounded like a Consevative conspiracy flake! ..LOL...Quick cyber slap me...LOL...
We were suppose to travel 75 miles tonight for Granddaughter's BB game but I'm wimping out & staying off the roads with this weather. Even seasoned ND peeps wimp out in winter weather sometimes. Especially the older one gets. Hoping it will be on the radio ...
Anyway, keep Warm & Think HEALTHY... Got Sun? Soak some up for me.

Linda, it's hard for me to imagine all that snow and wind. Makes my drizzely rain sound really wimpy. Sorry you're going to miss DGD's BB game tonight, but it sounds like a wise decision. I think you are right that there is a lot more to Putin/Tweety than meets the eye. I suspect that there are quite a few skeletons which will eventually fall out of the closet. He certainly seems to go to great lengths to remain on Putin's A-list while p*ssing off the rest of the world, including the US intelligence agencies with no concern at all to possible consequences. He's a very strange duck indeed.

I may have posted this before but I need to post it again...
"I listened as they called my President a Muslim (as if it were a bad thing). I listened as they called him a monkey. I listened as they said he wasn't born here. I watched as they blocked every single path to progress that they could. I saw the pictures of him as Hitler. I listened as they openly said that they will oppose him at every turn. I watched as they did just that. I listened and I watched and I paid attention. Now, I'm being called on to be tolerant. To move forward. To denounce protesters. To "Get over it." To accept this...
I will not. I will do my part to make sure this great American mistake becomes the embarrassing footnote of our history that it deserves to be, as quickly as possible. I will do my part to limit the damage that this man can do to my country. I will vote. I will watch his every move and point out every single mistake and misdeed in a loud and proud voice. Do not call for my tolerance. I've tolerated all I can. Now it's their turn to tolerate ridicule. Be aware, make no mistake about it, every single thing that goes wrong in our country from this day forward is now Trump's fault just as much as they thought it was Obama's. I find it unreasonable for them to expect from me what they were entirely unwilling to give.
They will find no shelter here." - Jeremy Mitchell

Linda that seems like too much snow so early in the season - ND winters are brutal. Upstate NY gets dumped on a lot too. Glad you decided to stay safe. DGD will have to TELL you all about the game.
Joyce talk about timing - how nice your DD stopped by. You guys really needed your spirits lifted. What a gift!
Pat thanks for the re-post - that just never gets old.
Hope everyone else is well.

So House repubs snuck into session alone on a federal holiday and voted to gut the Ethics Commission.
LINK
I mean come on, how much more filthy, sleazy and self-serving can they get?

NatureLover, you are so right about what has happened with the Ethics Committee. Disgusting!!! I guess this gives us a pretty strong preview of what we can expect for the next few years. Corruption run totally amuck. Then when you add in Tweety's sleaze and lack of any moral compass, what a mess! We know how the R legislators justify it to themselves--pure unadulterated greed. But how do the R voters justify this sort of thing to themselves? Do they really just not pay any attention?
If there are any true investigative journalists left out there, certainly they are going to be kept very busy. I'm afraid, however, that the days of Woodward and Bernstein are long past. Instead of draining the swamp, DT and the Rs have created an even bigger cesspool.

I just read about the Ethic Committee ...yup, totally disgusting !...but why is Tweetie's going against the GOP on this. ?.POWER struggle....I don't think Tweety & The GOP are going to play nice together in the sandbox. And it's already started...
I see Rosie O'Donnall has started a Twitter war with Tweety. If everyone can get under Tweeties skin it's her. Go Rosie, IMHO!
So, with all Trumps tweets about trade, why is no one calling him out about bringing his businesses back to America. ??

Huff Post....
Last week Mashable shared a look at a surprising new book meant to posit virtues of the U.S. president-elect.
Its title, Why Trump Deserves Trust, Respect & Admiration, is likely off-putting to those who don’t support the normalization of Donald Trump’s manners and mantras. And the book’s author, David King, would agree: His new release is filled with blank pages.
“Despite years of research, we could not find anything to say on this subject, so please feel free to use this book for notes,” reads the book’s Amazon description.
i just ordered a couple copies. My brother (Trump Supporter) has a birthday coming up. He gets one. LOL...

Looks like Trump tweeted and the GOP scrapped the plans. If they get any sleazier they're bound to slide right off the planet - which would be nice.

You know I've never really been a fan of Rosie O'Donnell. Her personality has just never really clicked with me, but since Tweety hates her so much I am starting to grow much fonder of her.

Anne, enjoy the time with your family! Time with DGKs is so precious, and every moment is to be savored. Will be thinking of you with a smile.
Our household took a big step today. As I told you earlier, we have come to a point for my own health (both physically and emotionally) as well as DH's we simply can not continue to do 24/7 care for my mom and dad. Their needs are simply becoming greater than what we can meet. So I have been looking around at assisted living facilities near me. This morning I found one that I think is the answer to our needs at this point in time. It is very nice, only 2.5 miles away from me, a relatively small community and all on one level so it's not the giant complexes going up around here lately. I met and talked with several staff members from a cleaning lady on up to the director. All were friendly and hospitable. I talked with some residents, and they all seemed happy and content. Word of mouth in my area about the place is good also. So DH and I took my dad to visit this afternoon. He liked what he saw, and we put down a deposit. Now, for the caveat. There is currently only one apartment available. In the short time between my visit this morning at 10:00 and when we took my dad back at 3:00 another family who had already toured also put down a deposit. So that gives them first "dibs." They are bringing their mother to see the place on Saturday. Ugh!!! So if they say they want it, it will come down to which one of us is ready to start paying the rent soonest (and they would get first choice.) I had hoped to move my mom directly from rehab along with my dad, and right now I'm guessing that won't be until the end of the month or first part of February. As expensive as it is, I hate to have to pay when we are not using it but will if it is necessary. However, the director told me she THINKS that another apartment will be coming available soon. The lady has dementia which has progressed significantly, and they expect her to be moving into the memory care unit which is also on the same premises. I will keep looking, and in fact have another appointment scheduled with another facility not quite as conveniently located tomorrow afternoon. I would really like for this one to work out for us though, as I think it would be a good fit. I would still visit daily, take care of all their business affairs, set up appointments and take them to doctors, etc. but I would no longer have the full 24/7 responsibility. So please keep your fingers crossed!

Joyce, I know this was a difficult decision for you. Probably one of the most difficult things you've had to do. In your heart you know it's the right thing at the right time. I have my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed. Please let me know what happens so I can type, walk, and see correctly again. You and your parents are in my Good Thoughts.
((((Joyce))))
