(((Joyce))) Nobody could ever say you didn't give it your all. What you and DH have done thus far is nothing short of amazing. You'll be no good for anyone if your own health declines any further. Trust your gut that you are doing what's best for everyone. Hoping it wont be too long before you feel the weight of the world lifting off your shoulders.
Hope everyone is well - I'll save my tweet rant for tomorrow

{{Joyce}} Hope that everything works out for you sooner than later. You have done so much for your folks and finding a good care facility is just the next step. It's really difficult to move a parent but you know when the time is right. We had to move heaven and earth to convince my dad when it was "time"...once he got settled he loved it and it was the best thing we could have done. Prayers that the facility you most want will be available.

Joyce....Hard decision indeed, but you are doing the right thing for you & for your parents. By handing over the daily care of them to others, you can now hopefully enjoy more quality time visiting , sharing memories, & just being a daughter spending quality time with her parents without feeling exhausted & overwhelmed with their everyday care. Plus, the interaction with others at the ALH home will be good for them too. I hope it works out for the Home you are hoping for & it will be an easy transition for you all.

I'm still blown away that this 'governance by tweet' can possibly be our new reality. Forget the circus atmosphere which is bad enough, just try and contemplate for a minute the perilous nature it could have on foreign affairs and world markets, a whole host of things.
For a guy that touts the virtues of the past, how about some good old fashioned conversational skills as a method of communicating? It would sure go a long way in establishing clarity, preventing misunderstandings and removing the need to change your position (yet again) once your twitchy little fingers and knee-jerk temper tantrum has subsided.
On the ACA - rather than repeal, just fix what's wrong with it and call it Trumpcare - solved.

Joyce, I just wanted to send hugs and support. You are doing the right thing. Remember the old adage, you cannot care for others when your own well is dry. More complex and critical care is mandated by your parents' frail and complex situations than you and your husband can possibly provide right now. And I know you will be the best visitor and supporter and advocate.
As for Trump, tweets, repulsive GOP shenanigans - I have no words.

Hello everyone! Hope you are off to a good Wednesday. The sun is shining here and that always lifts my spirits. Could not agree with all of you more about the repulsiveness of this, as Pam called it, "governance by tweet." It is very frightening. It's so easy to misconstrue sentiments in any electronic communication, and when you boil it down to 140 characters the odds of misunderstanding and disaster multiply exponentially. What ever happened to the idea of good, solid diplomacy?
Glad the Rs backed down on the gutting of the Ethics Committee, and I found it rather funny that none of them wanted to admit how they had actually voted on it. Slime!!
Anxious to learn what will happen about Obamacare. True, there's much to be fixed but we knew there would be from the beginning. Anything as comprehensive and new as healthcare would only naturally require some tweaking to get it adjusted just right. So I agree to fix what needs fixing, and call it anything they want to call it. Just don't devastate people by throwing it out with nothing to replace it. I think a great many people do not realize just how negatively they would be impacted by throwing out. They don't realize it would actually affect them and not just some nameless statistic.
Going to visit another AL place this afternoon, just to make sure I cover all bases but really hoping for the one from yesterday. Thank you so much for all your support!

Huff Post...
As tyrants take control of democracies, they typically:
1. Exaggerate their mandate to govern – claiming, for example, that they won an election by a landslide even after losing the popular vote.
2. Repeatedly claim massive voter fraud in the absence of any evidence, in order to restrict voting in subsequent elections.
3. Call anyone who opposes them “enemies.”
4. Turn the public against journalists or media outlets that criticize them, calling them “deceitful” and “scum.”
5. Hold few if any press conferences, preferring to communicate with the public directly through mass rallies and unfiltered statements.
6. Tell the public big lies, causing them to doubt the truth and to believe fictions that support the tyrants’ goals.
7. Blame economic stresses on immigrants or racial or religious minorities, and foment public bias and even violence against them.
8. Attribute acts of domestic violence to “enemies within,” and use such events as excuses to beef up internal security and limit civil liberties.
9. Threaten mass deportations, registries of religious minorities, and the banning of refugees.
10. Seek to eliminate or reduce the influence of competing centers of power, such as labor unions and opposition parties.
11. Appoint family members to high positions of authority
12. Surround themselves with their own personal security force rather than a security detail accountable to the public.
13. Put generals into top civilian posts
14. Make personal alliances with foreign dictators.
15. Draw no distinction between personal property and public property, profiteering from their public office.
Consider yourself warned.

It looks like you found one! lol.
Yours is kinder and gentler. Mine isn't glaring. He's staring. He's curious. lol.
When I was a little girl a neighbor had a pet raven. Or, was it a crow? Anyway, the guy would throw a shiny object like a rolled up piece of foil or something like that, and his crow would fetch it like a dog and bring it back for the guy to throw again. I kid you not. That was such a cool thing when I was a kid.

We saw beautiful Alpine parrots in New Zealand (will have to dig up a photo) who were so addicted to "shiny" objects that they would destroy the chrome decorations off the parked cars.

I wonder what the deal is with the shiny thing? When I visited a few nature preserves in the middle of the Summer some of them would have bug spray available because the place was crawling with bugs. It didn't matter how much spray you put on the bugs won and I couldn't stay.
WTH did they do in New Zealand? Give people a GIANT zip lock bag for their cars? lol. Pat, that New Zealand trip must have been wonderful. Well, except for the car thing. lol.
