We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Hi...
Anybody else just have that "Waiting for the other shoe to drop" feeling? Tweety isn't even in office yet & everyday he creates chaos.
Was visiting with my youngest son last night (age 39) & he said his FB page is always pretty active with political chat. Majority are Tweety supporters but DS is very Liberal . He said in last several days political chat & in your face Tweety supporters have gone pretty quiet of late. Buyers remorse?!?! Damage is done tho, and the rest of us get to live with their mistake. I noticed to, on my FB page & other places, it's more about still blaming P. Obama, bashing HRC, etc. trying their best to spread false news, still. They just can't seem to choke up any praise or give valid policy reasons why Tweety is the best choice for this country. Like I said, just feel their is another shoe to drop on this huge mess with Tweety.
I hope everyone finds the new home for the Boards.
Enjoy your day, sty warm & think HEALTHY

Good morning everyone! Hope you each have some sunshine, and if you do please send some our way. It is gloomy and raining here. So Rick Perry has been chosen for Energy Secretary. Guess Perry will finally get his wish. He said he wanted to do away with the Energy Department, and he'll probably manage to destroy it now. Can you believe this pick? Honestly, Perry is brainless. He is almost as bad as Palin in the "I'm an idiot" category. Linda, my FB is very quiet now too. I really think that the only thing most of those whose FB posts I see wanted was to prevent Hillary from winning, and they really could care less what is happening now. They don't seem to realize how each choice he makes affects their lives. Or maybe you are right and they do have buyers' remorse. Well, too late now. For at least 4 years we are stuck. Let's just hope we still have a country when these 4 years are over. But then, Ivanka and Jared are there to save the day. Are any of you in the Christmas spirit? I have to admit that I just am not. In fact I just realized this morning that Christmas is almost here. Gifts are bought, as I always do that online and early because I know there's no way to predict what will be going on here from one day to the next. I don't have a single decoration up, and to be honest not sure at this point I will even bother. I do have to make plans though. DD and family will come on Christmas Eve. So I will prepare our Christmas meal to have then. They'll spend the day, and then DH has volunteered to take over here so that I can go back home with them (will follow them in my car), spend the night and spend a large portion of Christmas Day with them. Part of me feels a bit guilty about that, but I decided I should not. The kids will not be small forever, and I want to enjoy them while I can. I've paid my dues, and I deserve the time to celebrate with them. I'll leave a breakfast casserole for DH to slide in the oven on Christmas morning, and there will be plenty of leftovers from our family Christmas Eve for Christmas lunch. I'll come back home mid-afternoon, as DD and family will be going to son-in-law's parents house then. So I am determined not to feel guilty about spending most of Christmas Day there. Yet somehow little wisps of guilt keep creeping in.

Joyce, I always have wisps of guilt & sometimes more for just about everything. I call it leftover Catholic guilt. My kids always tease me about that. Just go & enjoy. Trust me, having 3 out of 5 Grandkids as teens now, they do grow up too fast & their comes a day that Grandparents kind of get shoved to back of list behind friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, sports & busy social lives.

Thanks for the encouragement, Linda! I'm not Catholic, but I would probably make a very good one if guilt is part of the DNA. What do all of you think about Tillerson for Secretary of State?

For the most part the Republicans that I do see say anything about the election now seem to have no comprehension of what those of my friends who are worried are worried about. They keep thinking that it is disappointment over losing the election. Well, sure, no one likes to lose an election campaign, especially when you strongly believed in your candidate. But it happens. There's always going to be a winner and a loser. None of the Democrats I see posting about the election on FB are upset about Hillary losing. Sure they are disappointed, but not upset about it. They, like me, are just really seriously worried about Trump and it has nothing whatsoever to do with political parties. It is fear of putting the man himself in control. I really don't understand why some of my Republican friends don't get that, and it is a lost cause trying to explain to them that it has nothing to do with Hillary or Bernie or any political party. Do they genuinely not understand, or do they just not want to accept that many people on both sides of the aisle have a very legitimate fear now? I also know some Republicans who are just as worried as I am, so it's not all Republicans who don't get it. Just a segment of them.

I don't mean to butt into your thread but a friend of mine that posts on here explained her fears and she is right. There are legitimate things to be afraid of. I think we would have had to fear also if Hillary had been elected too. There wasn't really much of a choice in that election. Both parties could ;have made better choices in candidates. Now all we can do is pray that our country stays intact for not only ourselves but for our children, grandchildren and great grands. There is sure plenty to worry about.

Well, it's nice to see a new face around here. I'm glad you stopped in.
I'm sure the Hillary haters would be fearful if Hillary got in. However, what I'm feeling isn't a mild case of fear. It's absolute terror. I'm not going to list the reasons because I honestly believe they are well known. I'll admit Hillary wasn't perfect. Who is? However she was, and still is, a million times more qualified to lead our country than an egotistical, power hungry, sexual pervert and his porn star wife. I'm afraid praying isn't going to help. God helps those that help themselves and that ship has sailed. Many voted against Hillary instead of for the pervert. They voted for hate and you can't pray hate away.
Welcome to our thread!

Gramma13 welcome to the thread! We're happy to have you join us. As Pat said, Hillary certainly was not perfect. She wasn't a perfect candidate, and she would not have made a perfect president. I think she would have been a good president, but not a perfect one. I don't know whether you consider yourself liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, or maybe none of those labels. I'm glad you recognize that those of us who post regularly here are afraid about Trump the man and not the party he represents. You said, "Now all we can do is pray that our country stays intact for not only ourselves but for our children, grandchildren and great grands. There is sure plenty to worry about," and I could not possibly agree with you more about that. My grandchildren are 8 and 6 and we also have a 9 month old. I worry about their future under a Trump presidency. I hope he will prove my fears to be baseless. I really want him to be a good President, but I am not expecting that to happen. Judging by what he has shown us thus far, I don't see how it can. So that means I just hope we will survive his presidency without too much devastation and be able to move forward after he's gone.
Feel free to join us anytime!

thank you Ladies. I am more a conservative but I'm open minded and open to new ideas and thoughts. WEll some may say I'm easily swayed...lol
But seriously, I do understand your fears. Many like to hide their heads in the sand. It's best to stay informed and actually know what's going on and it looks like you all do that. I like to read this thread to see "the rest of the story"

Oh and Joyce, I do know you from the old ww board. I was goin2getthere. And I always feel guilt too. I'm not Catholic either. But at this point in our lives I know we should just give up feeling any guilt and just enjoy life. There are always people willing to try to make our lives miserable so when there are ways to grab a few minutes of joy we should do it. Yes kids and grands go grow up so fast. My grands that live near are mostly all adults now. The younger ones live 1500 miles away and I'm missing their childhood. makes me sad but it happens. As our friend says, there should be a law about kids moving away from their parents.
