This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hello Everyone sunrose - thanks for starting the thread. Good luck at your weigh-in. wwlurker - sorry you lost your post, hope you are doing well today. Annette and Celticcapergirl - Hope you are doing well and will join us in our August thread. I weighed-in today and lost some more weight this week. I'm happy to be below my goal weight - for 4 months now - but I'm wondering if I'm eating enough. I'm going to try a few different things in August and see what happens with my weight over the month. Even though I'm happy to be at my goal weight, I get a little tired of all the work that Maintenance is. It was almost easier to lose weight, because I was always working towards that goal. I'm sure this is part of why so many people have trouble keeping the weight off - it's just a lot of work!

Hello Everyone Just checking in for the day. I'm staying on track pretty well, but having to fight some feelings of wanting to overeat. That is definitely what is going to be my main struggle now that I'm at my goal weight. I have to resist that feeling that I'm "done" now and can eat whatever I want. I hope that will eventually go away, but I'm realistic enough to figure it might take a long while before I get to that point. Hope everyone else is doing well today.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well sunrose - Congratulations on the loss, that was a nice surprise Annette - I'm glad to hear you are doing well - I hope you see a weight loss too I ate something yesterday that I think gave me food poisoning, since I was sick. I didn't eat anything after lunch yesterday and I'm taking it easy today with some blander foods, but at least I feel better today. I think it was ham from the grocery store deli that did it, so I won't be getting that again I was in a frame of mind to overeat yesterday, so being sick stopped me, I guess that's a good thing. I'm hoping for a good week, just have to keep sticking to the plan.

Hi everyone!
Just checking in.
I cancelled my plan yesterday. I've just decided that it was getting demoralizing going there every week and feeling like a broken record. I still believe in most of the principles they espouse (I never did agree with the no carbs at night thing) and if things were different in my life, I could see myself going back. But right now I was just wasting everyone's time.
I'm going to take a bit of time off from an official plan and work on some behaviours that I want to correct, like overeating. I was slipping into a pattern of bingeing. The quality of what I was eating was really starting to decline because I was developing an "on and off" mentality. On that plan, junk food is basically forbidden unless it's one serving of "healthy" junk food twice a week. It was very restrictive and slipping up made me feel like a failure.
I still plan to track what I'm eating and come here for accountability. I'm going to try to make improvements where I can and I'm going to try to stay off the scale entirely for the month of August as a way of resetting myself and taking the focus away from losing weight and back towards being healthier.
I'm also going to make a more concerted effort to get to the gym.
Hope everyone is going well on their respective plans!

wwlurker, I went back to an old plan before points plus. It's called classic on itrackbites. I lost 5 lbs this week. I just couldn't do smart points. I support your decision.

Hello Everyone wwlurker - I think you've made a really well thought out decision. You've mentioned several things you want to focus on and identified things you were having problems with. It's really great that you can see what works for you, that's really half the battle. I wish you the best and hope you know you'll get support here I agree with you about weighing less often too, sometimes that really messes with my mind. I wish I could get to once a month, but I'm scared I would slip if I didn't weigh once a week. It's crazy how we get so hung up on a number that we can't see how much progress we've made in other ways. Annette - I hope you'll enjoy the classic points, that's pretty much what I've been doing (with a few tweaks) for the last 2+ years. I like it because I have enough treats to keep me on track. And I make sure to get in as many of the Good Health Guidelines as I can each day. I can pretty much look at the calories, fat and fiber of something and figure out the points without using a calculator sunrose and anyone one else checking in - Hope you are doing well. I'm doing alright. This week has a been a mix of days where I ate too many points, and days I ate too few points - which kind of makes me feel unsettled. I'm hoping next week (which starts on Monday for me) will be more straight forward and I'll be back on track.

Hi Everyone! I've been doing well not weighing myself, but it is tough. I've been trying to eat with moderation and I've been enjoying some things that are off limits with my prior plan. I'm trying to pay attention to hunger cues and keep from overindulging. So far so good, but I have no idea what my weight is doing. I'm continuing to track what I eat, but I'm not counting anything at all. I just want to spend some time avoiding binges for now. I have a nasty summer cold that is making its way though my family. Once that clears up a bit, I'm going to focus some more on exercise but right now I'm coughing too much and my nose is too stuffy to work out. I'm feeling much more peaceful about it all. I'm tired of battling my weight. I'm curious to see what will happen to it if I just chill out a bit and stop fighting it so much. I'm pretty sure that I won't gain a ton, because the binges will be less if I don't try to "white knuckle" my way through my days. annette - I had success on Momentum years ago when my oldest was a baby. I really liked the program but my life was much different then. My DH worked shift work a lot and was never around. DS was a baby, so I didn't really have to cook for him. I was basically on my own eating how I wanted. Now I have to eat with my family all the time and plan my eating around them, which I find harder. Before it wasn't a big deal if I didn't want to eat a meal at meal time. Now, I have to prepare meals whether I want them or not, so I end up eating them even if I'm not hungry. cj59 - thanks for your kind words. It means a lot to me. sunrose49 - I tend to go off the grid for a couple of days at a time too. I don't always get a chance to check in everyday. Thanks everyone for being so supportive as I try to work my way through this!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today wwlurker - I'm glad to hear you are feeling peaceful about your weight loss journey, that's probably half the battle in getting control of it and learning to fit the behaviors into our daily life. I know I still work on that. I hope you and your family will be feeling better soon. Annette - The fruit was easier for me to count since that was the last program that going when I went to WW, but I can imagine it is difficult to adjust to. I don't count any vegetables, even carrots, and that just works for me. I hope you can adjust to counting the fruits. sunrose - It's always nice to see you post, whenever you can. I try to get here each day to be accountable, but there are days when I just can't bring myself to post. I'm doing pretty well today and have worked out my food plan and hope to stick to it. I went off track last night and ate some junk food. That time after dinner is definitely the danger zone time for me and I have to work to avoid overeating then.
