Good Sunday Morning
Coffee and tea are piping hot and your favorite treats heaped on a plate. Shall we get started?
A gorgeous day on tap in my neck of the woods with low humidity and nice temps. I'm hoping to spend some time outside.
I can't believe how fast the summer is going. You know summer's end is fast approaching when you start seeing TV ads for the new Fall line-up or Halloween candy at the CVS ugh. Hey! - Some of us still have concerts to go to, or BBQs and family reunions to attend, and interesting summer-appropriate places yet to be seen!
Perhaps a bit more coffee.... Have a great day all!

Good morning Doo & ATF.
Not a great finish last night or start today. Poor Oliver Twisted threw up from around 11:30 last night till 1:30. By the time I cleaned up it was nearly 2. I was rudely awakened a little before 6 by my screeching oxygen compressor because we lost power. Had to get up at that point and couldn't even have coffee till just now. I am truly wiped out. Ollie has been fine the past 2 weeks so I guess he'll have to go to the vet so we can find out what's going on.
Quite cool this morning, sunny & beautiful. What a strange summer. And it is going way too fast. HomeGoods said they were getting in Halloween & Christmas stuff simultaneously. There's more summer to come folks. The homegrown tomatoes aren't even out here yet.
Have a good one all.

doordie50, yes, summer in Houston is just starting it's 2nd revival, also called fall. School starts for the kids here August 16 and it's hard to buy school clothes in the stores here (hoodies, sweaters, long sleeve fleece shirts???) Thanks to fund raising by many PTA groups, most school playgrounds have purchased large tarp-like covers to shield kids from the burning sun rays. I don't know how I survived being a kid in the 50s when we played outside without these covers! Still, I do appreciate the changes to protect kids from sunburns and potential skin cancer. We had a lovely dinner with DD and her family last night. The memories from our dinners mean more than any gift although I do love the beautiful roses they gave me!

Waving; finishing up our fast and furious trip...we had a fantastic day yesterday at the NY Botanical Gardens and a Chihuly exhibit.... sullicat1, our humidity cleared yesterday, I hope you at least got that. Feel better, you and Oliver Twisted. linda72, it is so much hotter in the South now that it was when I was growing up, I was so aware of it living there in 2011 after leaving in 1998. I was reading an article the other day about how the outdoor workers are suffering. But, Bizarre Summer...definitely. J is heading to church (of course!) but I am skipping and making one more stop this AM, then the train this afternoon. Best thoughts, Beth! 100gone

I'm IN.
And sending prayers and good thoughts for Oliver Twisted... poor furBaby... and for you, Sulli... I know how your heart hurts...
The low humidity yesterday made our trip to New Egypt Speedway even more enjoyable than we'd hoped (we were pulling out the "memories" stops and doing something that we used to take our sons to enjoy <mmmphhh> years ago - before DD was born).
Today Toots is out cutting the grass and then we'll head to the mall for a couple of things from Boscov's.
I don't want to think past that. Today is Day 16 of my 16 Days For Diva vacation. The tension about tomorrow and back-to-work is already building up in my gut, my head, and my shoulder muscles. <bleckh>.
Have a healthy-eating day, all!

Good morning all. doordie50, summer is going fast but luckily I haven't spotted the Halloween candy yet! Looking forward to GoT tonight! sullicat1, I hope Ollie is ok ❤️ And I like what you said about summer not being over since we haven't had our local tomatoes yet. ksbruns, I wanted to see the Chihuly exhibit at the botanical garden. I bet it was gorgeous! And thanks for the well wishes on the MRI. I've had them before but not of my head - it was so loud, like jackhammers. Last night I had fun testing a cocktail recipe for my sister's upcoming 65th birthday party. I made Barefoot Contessa's limoncello vodka collins. Yum. 🍸 It's a gorgeous day here today. Might try to do some weeding. Enjoy your day everyone!

sullicat1, my cat, Missy, and I are sending positive vibes to Oliver Twisted. Missy threw up last night, too, but only once. Two hours of throwing up definitely sounds like a trip to the vet. Sorry you lost power and had such a crappy night of interrupted sleep. Napping later definitely sounds like the order of the day.
ksbruns, your trip sounds fabulous. There is something to be said for being with a train-ride's distance to cities like NY and others. Nothing quite like that in the Bay Area.
I didn't sleep too badly but woke several times including when Missy got sick. Finally slept until 7, so I'm a bit behind schedule for my typical day.
The weather this Summer has been as bizarre as it was last Winter which, I guess, is not a surprise. We've had morning cloud cover this week with clearing and sunshine. Today the temps are supposed to be reasonable in the 80s. Humidity in the house was 50% last night and 85% outside—just so unusual. I finally set the AC down to 66 from 4 to 6 AM just to get comfortable before getting up. That comfort may be why I slept until 7!
No plans for the day, but I think I'll take a trip up to Mountain View (a short drive) to the fabulous Farmer's Market there. I'm looking for some of those ripe, tasty tomatoes sullicat1 and I crave.
Wishing everyone a great day!

DebDoesWW ,How funny. It is a chilly 98 degrees at 3:00 down from a so far high of 100.Our tomatoes have come and gone in the heat and drought. linda72 ,I don't think it was this hot when I was in school. We didn't have AC in any school until high school and we didn't have AC at home until I started working in Austin in 1972. sullicat1 ,I hope OT feels better soon.Kit Kat has only thrown up once and Scooter threw up the other day(dog)for some unknown reason and she was fine right after so go figure.Take care of your fur baby. 100gone ,Those MRI's are loud even with earphones.I hope the results come back fine. I walked when it was still cold in the mid 80's this morning.I know y'all are ready to kill me but I might as well laugh at our weather.I certainly can't do anything about it.Our summer has not been bizarre however...normal hot and dry. When I was walking my left leg below my knee started hurting just when I thought my right knee was getting better.I do have arthritis in both knees but the left isn't near as bad as my right.I am not getting more gel injections this year. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

100gone, so glad you are home, so your head can start to un-rattle.... zazzles These past years were so crazy that this is the first time we've been back since we moved back to MA, and yes, a treat. I know I want to start hopping a train more often, but with wanting to see 👶🏻 when she arrives, I don't know how often it will happen. Everything is so insanely 🤑 @ @beckyw2016, I have felt the same way as my left leg has started twinging.....noooooo, that I haven't taken care of the right one yet!

100gone, here I am again ahead of GOT - just can't wait! Hope you're feeling okay - I hate MRIs sullicat1, hope all is well with OT, poor little thing. We never stop worrying do we? Hang in there. zazzles, hope your little one is okay too. DebDoesWW, heat aside lol, doesn't it burn you up when the advertisements for everything seem to discount the whole month of August? We start getting our best corn and tomatoes about now too. linda72, Same thing in Tucson, the kids go back in mid-August. Here on the east coast, we never went back to school before Labor Day. My mid-August birthday gifts always included back-to-school clothes lol. @beckyw2016, I hope your knee feels better.

doordie50,I have an August birthday also and I always got back to school clothes for gifts but I could never wear them right away bc of the heat and that was after Labor Day.I guess I could get some back to life clothes this year since I literally have about 3 outfits that fit.I know that sounds like a good problem but not when I can't afford them.Maybe I'll wait until I actually need cooler clothes.
