So many of you have been so great with helping me figure this out, but it had been a little over 2 months that I have been at goal weight and I wanted to share my reflections and welcome any feedback!
(1) what I realize is maintence is a bit of a see-saw. I have stayed within my goal weight range but each week is made up of staying on points or going under and then higher point days, all resulting in a narrow up and down right around day goal weight. But in a good way! It allows for the variety of life;
(2) weighing myself and recording my weight every day has actually liberated me because I know my weight fluctuates but I also know it will go back down, and if it is up a pound or so one day and I only ate 34 points the day before, I know I didn't actually gain a pound in a day. I look at trends and try not to freak out every day;
(3) running regularly (I have become a had core runner) allows me to eat more bc my body has adjusted to my activity Level and my metabolism;
(4) there will be days or weekends where I eat more than I "should" but I know what I need to do to get back on track. Which brings me back to point (1) - it's an up-and-down, not a straight line
I have been at goal before but this is the first time i feel like I can do this long term. Only time will tell but I am optimistic and really trying to learn every day. Thank you for all the great lessons I have learned from you all on this website!

daximus, Good list. Remember you can always get back on track with the next bite.

Great list...#1 and #2 really resonated with me. If I am willing, it is all doable.

daximus, Great job on maintenance. The see-saw analogy is a good one. You can also think of piloting a sail boat across the lake. A little this way (higher points) then a little that way (lower points). Maintenance is not a straight line but a lot of zigs and zags back and forth. bbbearsmom is right, you can get back on track with the very next bite. This is a life style change so nothing is set in stone. Weighing every day keeps that idea right in front of you. Congrats!

I wrote a reply and it seems to have not posted. I'll try one more time. I probably clicked on the wrong thing. I also weigh daily first thing in the morning and record it in my daily exercise journal. I view it as data that helps to motivate me and keep me on track. It also lets me know if this is just a blip due to poor eating choices (sodium etc.) or a troubling trend. So if I see that I am up 3-4 pounds for more than 4-5 days I put the breaks on and analyze what's going on and quickly adjust course. I'll go on My Fitness Pal and journal, aim to eat 95% healthy (low sodium, low saturated fat, high veggies). The scale then in a few days quickly gives me some love. I always feel better when I eat healthy foods so that is a plus that also keeps me motivated. I exercise pretty regularly but if the weight trend is not my friend, in addition to adjusting my food I may up my cardio time and or intensity. I may also re-read some motivating diet/exercise books like those by Dr. Ornish or Furhman. This helps me get my head back in the game. This has worked for me for the past few years. I find it much easier and less frustrating to quickly adjust my behavior and make a tiny correction.

I just came out of a trending period and I found it much harder than it used to be to lose two pounds. You are so right that needing to only make a tiny correction makes all the difference.

Congratulations on maintenance. I look forward to being there again myself. There is so much to learn, and you've found what helps you do it right.

I'm still learning that maintainers is a challenge. I weigh, and measure, weigh daily, exercise and eat most of my weeklies on the weekend. You are right, it is a see saw and I make the best choices the week of weigh in!😜
