Phyl, I didn't see you there. I'm glad you got to see the doctor. Two years ago I had really bad back, neck and shoulder pain but it even hurt too much to go out even to see the doctor so I took ibuprofen and rested and eventually it went away.

I feel like I have wasted my evening on this computer. I was trying to send an e-mail and kept having a problem with a pop up box and in the end I lost the e-mail. I really need to take it somewhere and have it serviced.
Ruth, yes I am trying out the cpac and I am having a horrible time with it. My DS tried one years ago and he gave up on it. When I arrived home from the hospital they had already delivered gas tanks and the big cpac machine. I don't think that aai really need it but I said I would give it a try but it is really frustrating. I haven't used the gas tanks since I came home. I am supposed to wheel these canisters of air or whatever they are, around with me. I really don't need all that stuff. I have several aps. coming up in the next week or 2 and I am anxious to get them over with. I have my eye injections coming up and I need someone to drive me if DS is here he will do it if not I will have to find someone. DGD can't keep getting off work though she will take the day off when I have my cataract surgery. My problem is that I do not have family here. Most of my relatives are in N. Ireland or England. Now I have had my moan for the day. Ruth, I am glad you mentioned your DHs experience with the cpac machine. You are probably right I would have trouble with the stitches in the cabbage doll pattern.
Phyl, I hope your back is feeling better. With old age I am afraid they do not improve. Take care.
Well I should take my grumpy self to bed and read myself to sleep. I think I will forget about the machine tonight.

Meg, I was wondering if you have an pulse oximetry device to measure your oxygen saturation. It's one of those clip on things you put on your finger for a minute or two. You really should have one if you don't. You can get them on Amazon or any medical supply. That way you'll know for sure if you need the tanks. As for the cpap...well did they do a sleep study or a sleep oxygen study?
The only reason I say you may have trouble with the cabbage patch stitch is because you said you would have a problem with the crossed stitch and this is a crossed stitch only you have to go around three stitches instead of just one.
And you can be grumpy all you want. I've certainly vented on here plenty of times and you certainly are entitled to do so.

Good morning!!
Phyl- well that is some story from 65- and how the impact (Literally) that the accident has had on you for many years later. I Hope you can settle in and sleep well tonight- and that your reason for not sleeping well is "just because" not due to your back problems. Ah the little joys (meant sarcastically) of a body that is not so young anymore. I will be praying that you can rest well tonight and that your visit to Dr Chad works wonders.
CJ- like Ruth, we know your blood is quilting thread.....and that you will get your momentum back soon. We love hearing from you and know that sooner or later your motivation will return. We all go through seasons of what we do or do not do- and it sounds as though you are in a cleaning and organizing season. That is good as it gets you ready for a crafting season whenever the bug hits again. Hope you have a great day.
Meg- even from your posts you sound more rested! I am so happy for you that you are feeling a bit stronger and are thinking about picking up a crochet hook soon. You were awfully sick- and your crochet projects will wait for you. I know very little about CPAP- but do know that there is another kind of mask that they offer- perhaps a different mask would make it easier for you to get used to using the machine.
Ruth- its very considerate of you to get new pillows for your guests. Agreed, "Egyptian cotton" seems overboard for pillow covers- like you said we all use pillow cases. But it seems like much is over the top these days, and I am sure you got a great deal on them. So much bedding is on sale this time of year for kids getting ready to go away for college. I actually last year considered making DMC bracelets for my entire elementary- but wondered if they would be appreciated. So I opted not to. Many kids are just profoundly spoiled and only like stuff that is "in". Do not worry about the yarn requirements for the afghan. I bought pound of love- 2 skeins- and I do believe its open dye lot. Also, its 1000 (a little over) per skein- so I think I should be ok. I did also check while in Joanns for yarn requirements for other afghans, and it does seem as though most baby afghans were asking for 3- 5 skeins of yarn around 400 yards per skein- so I do believe this will work out well. I love the yarn, it will be a classy, simple look which hopefully showcases my stitching (Lord help me!). I am glad that I have the yarn so early and now am not going to be in a massive rush to complete this afghan.
We will have DGS 2 days a week here, so I will have less time to do what I please at home this fall. (Good thing I can start crocheting early). The fair was a lot of fun, and the kids were great. Going later in the day ended up being a blessing as it was much less crowded.
Please------ I f any of you need online coupons for Joanns they gave me coupons for the next week or two. I would be happy to share the coupon code if you need it. Most of them are 50 or 60% off.
Hope I said hello to everyone. GInny

Hello all. Ginny, it's good to hear that you had a good time with the grandbabies at the fair. Definitely two of the pound of love are enough for a baby blanket. More than enough so you'll have some left to make other things maybe even another blanket or that's what you would want to do. I think you said the other day that you got antique white and that's such a coincidence because that's what I ordered online. I don't think I've received it yet though. I'll have to check. As for the coupons, that is so generous and gracious of you to offer it to us. Unfortunately I can't think of a thing I need right now. I've looked on Joanne's site for some things and I know I was going to order but the shipping was too much...or so I thought. But I must have got whatever it was I wanted somewhere else.
We're going out to do a little shopping soon. Dh's bday is Sunday and I want to make him his favorite carrot cake. I bought the carrots when out the other day but forgot the cream cheese and the frosting is the best part of the cake. We needed to go out anyway and stock up so that we don't have to go out till after the "you know what"
So will "see" you all later

Ginny, I've been meaning to tell you about another baby blanket pattern I have. It was sent to me by a friend from the old ww board who lives in Alaska and she also sent a swatch with it to show me how it looked which I thought was extremely nice of her because you can imagine that that cost a bunch to send from Alaska. She was on Meg's knitting thread years ago. Anyway it's really so simple but it's all single crochet so it ends up heavy made with worsted weight yarn but you can make it with anything. She made the swatch with white yarn then caron simply soft in a nice variegated pinkish yarn... I'll have to look up the name of the color....so I made one with the same thing and it's unbelieveably pretty. It would be beautiful in any color. I've made it with white and blue and I have a green and white one in progress
Anyway you make your chain and then two rows of single crochet in white or your main color. The second color you single crochet across and every, I think, five stitches you make a drop or long stitch back into the first white row. Then another row of single crochet of the second color...back to two rows of white and just keep doing that. It takes awhile because of it all being single crochet. Being pretty heavy it would make a nice padding to lie the baby on when putting him of the floor or the couch or whatever. Colors are carried along the side so you don't have to keep cutting and attaching
Speaking of things I've made, I once saw a small afgan at Hancock Fabrics that was beautiful. It was small and was for sale for $60. I had wished I had a pattern so one day I saw the pattern online. It's a Lion Brand pattern called Two color afgan. I've made two of those..one for dh and one baby one. I, a few months ago, tried to start one for my ds' oldest boy but was having a hard time with getting it started and I can't imagine why because when I made it those times before I remember it being very easy. Sad part of this is another friend that was on Meg's knitting thread was also making this same one for her dh for that same Christmas. She found that she had cancer and died just a couple months later so I'm sure her dh really treasures that afgan.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Phyl - Hope you are sleeping better, at least you found something to occupy you since you were up
Ginny - Glad to hear the kids enjoyed the fair, sounds like it was a good time
Meg - I hope that you can find someone to take you to your appointments
Ruth - Hope you are able to get your shopping done and enjoy making that cake
I think I talked some about a Gingham quilt I wanted to make. I found a link on a website with the type of quilt I was talking about, there's a video and a PDF pattern too for anyone interested:
blog.fatquartershop.com/2017/07/3-hour-baby-gingham-quilt.html I'm going to a quilt show tomorrow with my sister-in-law. Since I've bought all the quilting supplies I need at the shows earlier this year, I'm just going to enjoy looking at the quilts.
Take care everyone!

Hello to Phyl, Ginny, cj & Ruth.
I am having a lazy day. I did have the nurse here this morning to check me out. All is well. He has one more visit next week. Tomorrow the occupational therapist will come. to visit. I am going to check with my Dr. about going to the sleep clinic or whatever they call it.
Ruth, when the nurse comes to visit he puts one of those things on my finger. I will have to check them out at Amazon and probably order one. I would really like to get rid of all the oxygen if I can or at least get a smaller mask. Last night I didn't use the cpac at all. I wish you did live closer so you could take me to my appts. Most of the time I can take myself but I have an appt. next week for my eye injections and after those appts. I need a driver to get me home. Usually DS is available.
Phyl, I hope your shoulders and back are feeling better. I think once you have shoulder and neck pain it never really goes away. My shoulder pain comes and goes. But we have to keep going.
Ginny, You are such a caring person and I thank you. I do feel better than I did before I went into the hospital. Today was Knit Wits day and I didn't go. Actually I haven't been for several weeks. I could have gone today but the nurse was here later than usual so I decided to stay home. There is always next week.
Devin will be home from school soon. Have a good afternoon.

Ruth, I think I have that pattern for that afghan. Perhaps I will make it sometime.
cj, I hope you enjoy the quilt show tomorrow.
Someone mentioned making a carrot cake and I don't remember who but I keep thinking about it. Send me a crumb. I haven't had cake for ages or even a cookie. The cake sounds delicious.

CJ, have fun at that quilt show tomorrow. As I've mentioned before I do love looking at quilts. I went to the site you posted. I love the quilt. One of the things I really liked about the video is seeing her sew crookedly like I do I love her method of sewing the squares. I have a friend that makes quilts and donates them, she has a little machine that you put the fabric in and it cuts squares or whatever shape you want. Seems to me that would make it harder because then you would have to sew each of them together individually. I never saw the machine but she told me about it and invited me to come to her house and cut my fabric on it. I have no idea what it's called. Got home from shopping. It was a madhouse. Everyone's out today for some reason.Probably the same reason I was although most of them will be out in the maddening crowds during the "event"anyway. Not me

I started my post then left the computer to put more things away because dh was puttering and making me nervous. I then made him dinner so now he's off eating it and I'm sitting resting for a few. So I didn't see your post there Meg.
Meg, It was me that is making the carrot cake. I'll bring some when I come to take you to your appointment. I wish I could.
They do have all kinds of masks for the cpap and I think now they have another thing you can use and not have a mask at all but what you can use usually depends on what conditions are affecting your nightime breathing patterns.
It was so great to be able to go out today then come home and do things in the kitchen without being in pain. That antibiotic was a miracle drug for me. I guess God had a lesson for me to learn before I was cured though. It was just under three months that I had all the pain and other symptoms. I'm certain the prayers of my friends helped more than anything.

hi, yeah those cpap masks can be a pia. I AM trying one that fits just over the nose.thought it would be easier then the face mask.(NOSe TO MOUTH) I keep getting the red sad face with this one. I WAS I Nathe sleep clinic and I stopped breathing a few times. that's why I have it.
meg find out for sure why your doctor thinks you need it. mary jo's dh has one that fits over his face except for eyes.
I may have to go back to the old one. I be put in the sleep clinic.have you ever woken from what you feel has been a real deep sleep. that is a sign you stopped breathing.
my back usually doesn't keep me awake. I have a reatless night then my hip starts In and that is what will keep me awake.
this afternoon went riverside park. the american queen was docked there. boy is that a big beautiful looooong paddlewheel boat. better have some big bucks to vacation on that beauty.
came home went to my playpen and got a cupcake decoration done on my brother machine. no problem with sewing through thickness. like my little janome.phyl

Wow so much to respond to!!
Phyl- praying that you sleep well tonight- and that your back is not painful. So glad your brother made it through all those layers...nothing like a reliable machine!!
Ruth, that is awesome that you are comfortable now! Thank you Lord for getting her on the right medicine at the right time. I am so very happy for you- and that is such an answer to prayer.
CJ- I know you will enjoy that quilt show- and come back inspired- or with your creative juices flowing so that you get busy quilting soon. have fun! Let us know what cool things you see.
Meg- knitwits can wait another week. So glad to hear that you are getting the medical attention you need. Having all these medical visits takes energy too- and considering how sick you were this is a big accomplishment. Go to knitwits next week....I am sure they will be happy to see you.
Raining here now. We went out to dinner to a new place....eh? It was ok. Not sure why others rave about the place. I am tired, better go see if I can sleep. Have a great night Ginny

Time for bed. But I thought I would check in before I go. Tomorrow morning I have the Occupational Therapist coming for the first time. Then after her visit DS and I will go grocery shopping. I want to stock up on food rich in iron and anything else that is nutritious. I will use one of the electric carts and let DS do the heavy lifting. I have been losing weight for some time which is good. At the moment I am at my lowest in years. My pants want to keep falling down. I guess I will have to go and buy some smaller ones.
Phyl, Thanks for sharing about your masks. I think they tried to get me to accept what they offered me. I will have to ask my Dr. to set up an appointment at the sleep clinic. When I was being discharged from the hospital I did hear someone mention something about the sleep clinic. I am glad you enjoyed your visit on the American Queen. I went to a birthday party on the Delta Queen a few years ago. My friend rented the whole boat for her DHs 80 th b/day. They had a lot of money and could do something like that. For me it was a treat to be invited.
Ruth, Have you baked that carrot cake yet? I will probably dream about it tonight. I am so glad your antibiotic is working and I am glad they were able to help you before it made you really sick. I have had really bad UTIs and wound up in the hospital. I have a standing order with the lab for blood tests if I think I have a UTI.
Ginny, I am not too worried about missing Knit Wits. I have been reading a book on my Nook and when it is finished I will find an audio book to listen to and that will inspire me to start working on my b/blanket again.
cj, have fun at the quilt show.
I wish you all a good night. sleep well.
