I've ignored them for some time now although I get an unhealthy dose of liberal negativity and stupidity on facebook. So many of the stories I see on my feed are fake news or wildly exaggerated. It's hard to find a reliable source of real news, not even on Fox any more although they seem to be doing a pretty good job reporting the humanitarian efforts in Texas.

"I am requesting that you refrain from discussing the "other thread" in this thread. We have repeatedly asked that you be respectful of each other, and will continue to enforce this in both threads."
Received this today, did answer so may be banned soon. I wrote "other thread", but didn't call the POTUS a jackass. That is allowable.

Tomorrow I will have my cataract surgery and I am looking forward to being able to see better with my left eye.
It has beet hot here this week and we are expecting temps. in the next few days to be 110 - 111 so I will be staying home as much as possible. I am sure we will have a huge electric bill.

I think it's a good idea to keep the two threads separate but to discuss among ourselves something we see there (if we choose to go there which I don't) would be ok so long as we don't call each other names (like JACKASS). We had a lurker who was very disrespectful and I reported that person. Subsequently, we had another person (Mel) who visited us and was very respectful who we wouldn't have minded having a respectful dialogue with. I think we are adult enough here to know the difference and report it or not depending on circumstances.
Meg I had the cataract surgery several years ago. I don't regret it although my vision still is not 20/20 - in fact I still have to wear glasses.
I just got may 2006 La Crosse back from the repair garage. They had to replace the rear brakes and the accelerator pedal sensor. Total bill - $770.69!! I dropped of my Park Avenue to have them check out a problem with the gas. I smell gas every time I drive it. Perhaps a fuel pump problem. Also having them look at my trunk lock. Can't open the trunk half the time.

I have been watching the rescues in Texas on and off. Have you all noticed, not one with a black scarf covering their face, not one woman with a pink hat on her head. Just real Americans with their boats that they brought from all over the South, there were lines of them on the highways, I think route 10. Just a lot of good old boys who hunt and fish, who are veterans. Who the elite libs and make fun of. It's the deplorables who are saving lives of people and pets. Did you all see the Vogue writer who made fun of the first lady, she makes Whoopie Goldberg look like a fashionista. The liberal press, instead of giving the President and First Lady support in their efforts to help Texas are more interested in the First Lady's shoes and what she is wearing. But that is the typical liberal response, Mush for brains, with more interest in bashing the United States, taking down statues, than responding to a tragedy and helping. And more interest in what George Clooney's babies or baby is doing. Can you imagine Hillary and Bill in Texas? LOL. Hillary couldn't wear stilettos, she is too old and Bill would be looking for some hot chick in stilettos. My DDIL's niece, partner and little boy evacuated to Dallas, they will be going back to Houston tomorrow. Their home is flooded but not too bad. But still a mess. I guess I am just frustrated to see how horrible and nasty the press is. Instead of trying to bring the country together, they are just trying to cause dissension. They were trying to create a race war but Harvey put a stop to that. So instead they will focus on what the first lady wears. I loved the lady who told the CNN reporter to get the blankety microphone out of her face, she and her children were cold and wet. The blankety word was a biggie on live TV. I wish I was young enough to head to Texas to help, money donated isn't enough. I will not give to the Red Cross, goes back to when my Dad came home after WWII. He didn't like them, they were selling donuts to service men. There are trucks leaving here in a few days, I am going to go to Target and get some new things, mainly undies for men, women and children. My DDIL's friend is working in Houston and said they are needed desperately. Sorry to vent, but I just hate to see a tragedy made into a platform for nasty politics. People have lost loved ones and homes, and people whine about the Trumps, what sickos.

I had my cataract surgery yesterday. I had an appointment early this morning and all is well . I really liked the surgeon who really talked me through the surgery and was very friendly. wasn't worried about the surgery because I get injections in my eyes every few weeks and knew that they would numb my eyes which is what they did.
Gary, I will still need to wear glasses but being able to see better will be wonderful.
Geri, I do agree with you and it has been good to see Americans helping each other regardless of who or what they are. My DH did not like the Red Cross they made service men and women pay for their services but they claim to always be there to help. But they usually make service personnel pay and if they don't have the money they will lend them the money but they make them repay the money even when it is an emergency trip home to visit an ill family member. So I do not give to the Red cross. I do like the Salvation Army they are a good charity and give freely to people who need help. I am sure my church will be asking for donations and I think that is the best place for me to make a donation. people need to be careful about where they send money. I think your idea to send new under wear is a very good idea. BTW you can vent all you want.
A charity I like to donate to is the USO they are there to make life a little easier for service men and women who are over seas. Remember how Bob Hope supported them.

Meg, you will see such a difference with the surgery. I have had both eyes done. Really just use readers and now after a lot of years need my long range glasses which are an RX. Was prescribed trifocals, but no way I needed them. Don't need anything for the computer, do need readers, for reading and do use the long range for TV while in bed, now and then. Get my readers at Tuesday morning or Marshalls. 3 pair for 9.99.

Geri, I am glad your cataract surgery has improved your eye sight so much. I will probably have the second eye done in the near future. I will still have to deal with the macular degeneration so will probably still have to wear prescription eye glasses. It is wonderful what they can do now I can see so much better today.
