Hello to CJ, Meg, Ginny and Phyl. I'm late posting here today. I just can't even believe that it's 6pm already!
I did do some crocheting earlier, visited with dh, read some and now was organizing some more but decided to take a break and see how everyone is.
CJ, I might not make the cake because dh doesn't care much for fluffy cakes and I can't eat gluten so I may have to forego making that. It sounds delicious though. I might have to find out if it can be made with some kind of gluten free flour.
Well I'd better get back to some more organizing so I can spend more time crocheting this evening. I was just going to take a break from cleaning and organizing today but I do want to get a little done after all. I'll stop back later to see if Ginny, Meg, and Phyl stopped in.

Hello, Ruth, Ginny ,cj & Phyl.
I did stay home today though I did take Devin to school this morning. So I was sort of lazy. I did get rid of a lot of paper that had been collecting on the corner of my counter top. I read a book and finished it this afternoon. I was going to work on my b/blanket this evening but that hasn't happened. just a few more rows and it will be finished. Tomorrow morning I have an early eye appointment.
Ginny, I have read quite a few of Danielle Steel's books. Some of them are good but I think she has a formula for writing and you can almost prodict how her stories are going to turn out. I will probably finish it but I wouldn't but I wont be reading any of her books for awhile. Hope you get everything taken care off before school starts. The school holidays seem to have gone by fast this year.
Ruth, Sponge cake is popular in the UK. My mother used to bake sponge cakes and she used jam in between the layers. I am not sure if they are still popular over there.
cj, I hope as the weather cool sown you will feel more like quilting.
Phyl, are you playing in your play pen? I wish we could all come and join you.
Time for bed. I have to get up early tomorrow morning. Good night.

Good morning!
CJ- I watched the Great British Baking show last night- I have been DVR'ing the series. Its a lot of fun-l and I will enjoy watching the rest of the sereis. (I watched episode 1, cakes). Learned a lot about baking too.....thanks for suggesting that program.
Meg, sounds like you are getting your energy back! Sometimes its best to give up on an author, or just give them a rest. Hope your eye appointment goes well.
Phyl- wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope all is well.
Ruth, looks like we were posting at the same time last night. Do you normally clean up your cabinets this thoroughly every year? I know its a lot of work, especially if you choose to change how things are put away. What is great is that you will be ready for fall/winter and the holidays. (Did I really say that? I have seen Christmas items in the store already).
Busy am for me- route selection and then an eye doctor appointment.
Crocheted a little last night Ginny

Hope things go well with the route selection today. Ruth - It sounds like you are getting lots done around the house, I'm sure you'll be glad to have that finished so you can enjoy your family when they come in September. Meg - I hope you get some time to do some crafting today. I enjoy reading so much, so I'm sure you'll be looking for a new book to listen too soon. Phyl - Hope you are busy crafting. I'm doing things around the house today, since I need to go out tomorrow and run some errands. It's still hot and humid here so I'm just trying to keep the house cool. Take care everyone!

Good to see you here CJ and Phyl- got my route back this am, which will ultimately make my life easier. Less kids to train as many already know me.
Phyl- sorry that your hip is bothering you. Does it flare up much? You will get back to that baby afghan when its time...and you have the initiative.
CJ- so sorry that its still muggy in your area. Hope you can accomplish what you want around the house- its so nice to "get things done".
Not sure I will be able to come back later. Have a great day all Ginny

Meg, I'm glad you had a day of almost of rest after taing Devin to school. I hope the eye appointment goes well or by this time has gone well. I don't think I've read a Danielle Steele book in years if ever so I don't know much about them.In the last few days I read a book in which the main character was faced with death and talked aobut how no one has come back from death to tell us what happens and "no books have been written about it". Well I would sure love to talk to that author about that because there is one very imprtant book that tells us all about Death and Heaven....out Bible in which God tells us all about death.
I know I'm repeating myself but I can't dvr the Great British cooking show because of it being on PBS. It's a local channel which I can't get thru my tv company therefore it can't be put on thier dvr.I never seem to remember to use the other remote to go to local channels to watch the program either. It sounds great so I need to remember that
No I sure don't clean out my cupboards every year but this year I wanted to make space for the pans that I use often and the baking pans I use so that they will be more organized and accessible. I have old pans that I never use mixed with new ones so wanted to get that all straightened out. I still have to clean off my baker's rack and move some dishes and other things that dh thought we should save from there to inside one of the never used high cupboards to join the other never used items in there.Every couple months at least I do wipe out the shelves I use often since they somehow get dusty and sometimes get crumbs...how that happens I don't know. Often when I start one thing it develops into a full scale "spring cleaning" attempt. I guess I'm thinking of the cleaning I need to do before company but no use doing that yet as things will just get dusty again and kitchen and bathrooms will need to be cleaned several more times before they get here so I'm doing other things instead of those that will be repeated when it gets closerto the visit time. I also want to rearrange the living room and little alcove so that we have more seating in the living room.
Last night I realized that the skirt of the cpk dress I was working on didn't have a full enough skirt so I took out what I had done and am nearly done with that now. Someone asked when I am going to mail the box of these dolls..it will probably be around the 29th before we go out again and I hope to have everything done and packed by then and will mail it then also.

Hello Ruth, cj, Ginny & phyl,
It has been a long day. My eye appointment took up most of the morning. It went well today. Sometimes I have a bad reaction but not today. Tomorrow I have and appointment with the Dr. who did my surgery last year. Just a check up. I have not done any crafting. I think I need a new audio book. That would get me moving. I am not sure that I will finish Danielle Steel's book.
Ginny, I am glad you got the route you wanted.
Phyl, I am sorry your hip is hurting. I hope you can get some pain relief.
cj, I hope you get some cooler weather soon. We had a few very nice days but the temp. was back in themed 90s today. I haven't been watching The Great British Baking Show. I did watch it one year. I will try to see if it is on PBS. I just have not been watching TV. I would rather read most of the time.
Ruth, I should be cleaning out cupboards and I was going to start before I went into the hospital. I guess it is going to have to wait.
Now I am going to bed. Good night sweet dreams.

Ginny, we must have been typing at the same time. I didn't see you there when I posted earlier. I'm glad you got your old route back. That has to make things a lot easier.
I frogged the dress again. I didn't like how it looked. I also made a pair of what was supposed to be ruffled undies to go with it but I took a chance and used a heavier yarn but with a smaller hook but they still came out too large so will have to go to "plan B" for them too. If I want to actually finish something today I'd better get back to it and finish the dress at least. I did get a few things done today including getting rid of a lot of recipes. I don't know why I keep them because all are on the internet. I do keep my favorites and some just for inspiration but I have them down to just one notebook now from three. Of course I do have some on cards and smaller notebooks but will go thru those another time.
I don't know what the yarn is that I'm using for this dress. I know I've had it for awhile and it has no label but it's great yarn. I wish I had a room full of this. It's hard to explain what it is but it's pink and white but not variegated. You know that they using multiple thin strands to make the strand we used to knit and crochet with...well this yarn is made up of a mix pink and white in those smaller strands to make the strand. i imaging they had it in other colors too. I wish I could find more but I think it's TLC and that's been discontinued. I saw some online but it's not like this one.I know that when I was in Arkansas one year...must have been in 2007... I used it to make a blanket for a young woman a single parent who the ladies of the church mentioned and my best friend there had bought her some things for the baby and I decided to make her a blanket. After I left she began attending that church. What I'm using now is what was left when the blanket was done.
Meg, the cupboards will still be there when you feel better. In fact mostly cupboards don't need cleaning at all. Save your energy.

Good morning!
Meg, so glad that your eye appointment went well yesterday. Go get another audio book! I know its a silly saying, but I always figure life is too short to suffer though a bad book. I hope that you slept well and are not so busy today.
Ruth, indeed think we all know how that goes, "you" figure to clean one small area, and the entire project becomes a major overhaul. I hope you are able to get to finish that dress today, also finish your cleaning in the kitchen so you can move onto the living room area. It all sounds like a lot of work.
Watched a movie last night......and got some crocheting done. I will most likely stick with the shell stitch afghan, its coming out well and is easy enough for me.
Gotta go- taking DD for blood work this am and then a few early am errands. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope you can get the xray so you can see what is going on with your hip and back. I'm glad you were able to go to Sit and Sew and congratulations on losing the 2 lbs. Meg - I happy to hear your appointment went well. I hope you can find another book to listen to. I used to not be able to stop reading a book even when I didn't enjoy it, but I've "allowed" myself to do that now. I figure what is the point in reading it if I'm not getting pleasure from it. Hope your weather is cooler Ruth - Sounds like you are still busy with work around the house and with your crocheting. I'm sorry you can't see that show, maybe you could check PBS online and se if they have episodes to watch. Ginny - I'm happy to hear you got your same route, that has to be a relief since you already know it and know a lot of the children. Glad to hear you've been doing some crochet. I went out this morning and did some shopping. I was hoping to find the Frosted Mini Wheats Pumpkin Spice cereal at Target. I had heard that it's out again and that's the only store that has it. I really enjoyed the taste of it last year. I didn't find any today, but did find the Pumpkin Spice Instant Quaker Oatmeal, I enjoyed that last year too. I did a few rows of crochet yesterday, but it's still really hot here and very humid. This weekend is supposed to be less humid and a little cooler. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon to you too, Phyl and to CJ, Meg, and Ginny
Ginny, just as you said about the audio book same is true for crocheting. If one stitch is too frustrating or too slow going for what you're doing at the time it's best to let that go for the time being and work on something easier and more relaxing. I tried the crocodile stitch. Couldn't see a reason to spend time trying to figure it out. Same for chainless foundation stitch. I did use it one one item but It's time consuming and tedious. Same with magic ring. I just see no reason to struggle when you have something you can do that will make your things turn out beautiful and be easier at the same time.
Phyl, congrats on the loss. As "they" say, slow but sure wins the race. Many things can affect arthritis and cause it to flare up. You're right about the exercise. Although it seems painful it really does help. Wish I could convince dh of that.
Not much new here. More organizing, cleaning and crocheting. I have to make a run down to the mailbox too. Neighbors have two people camping in their yard. It's against the rules but they have always thought rules didn't apply to them. They're special, so they think. But at least they're quiet.I don't care what they do as long as it's quiet.
Cj, your message just popped up. I sure agree about the book. I used to finish them all too but now if they aren't to my liking I just stop. As for the pumpkin spice, I do like then they have things in that flavor each year. My dh loves frosted Mini Wheats but I've never seen them in that flavor. He got an odd flavor last time but I forget what it was...definitely not the pumpkin spice. We do have a Target but haven't been there in several years. It's on the other side of town. I have pumpkin spice International coffee and cappucino.
I didn't get much sleep last night because I ate something I shouldn't have eaten but I have nowhere I need to be so I can take it easy and even take a nap if needed.
Have a good day all

Good evening!
Phyl- congrats on the loss!! Down is always good when it comes to weight- and a 7# loss since February is wonderful. Take it with a big smile and move forward to lose more. I agree with CJ- get in for that X-ray so the doctor can see what is going on. Perhaps they can prescribe some PT or particular excercises for you to lessen the flare ups and discomfort. Its no fun to be in pain.
CJ- I am so happy for you that cooler weather is on the way for you! Bet it felt good to start "hooking" a bit this afternoon. Its no fun doing that when its hot and humid. In today's mail I got a Christmas Tree shop flyer with all Pumkpin Spice products all over it. They even have pumpkin spice marshmallows. Keep looking you will be able to find your cereal and oatmeal soon! It is that time of year.
Ruth, I will graciously disagree with you on one thing..the magic ring. If you make hats for kids, it works wonders...but to do it I have to watch the you tube video every time. I cannot seem to memorize magic ring. But the others? Yup, agree. If a stitch takes too long to work on, learn or master- well why bother if there is a suitable alternative? Same with bad books or even a bad movie. THere was once a movie we took the whole family to that 10 minutes in was SO bad- we walked out and got our money back. Perhaps keeping a food log will help you stay away from trigger foods. Just an idea....
Dh went with me to "dry run" my route- driving all the stops empty. Because I have the same bus, I was able to do this in my car. It was easier because he drove and I could take notes. They added a lot of kids to my route....my bus will be very full. Let's hope I can handle it. I was shocked when I got home and DS asked for sewing supplies to mend a pair of pants. The shocker was, I have cleaned out so very much that finding what he asked for was easy. I was very encouraged this afternoon too- after some research I found that Big Brothers Big sisters will also take yarn. Indeed, I will most likely be donating many skeins of Homespun yarn, which was given to my DSIL who gave it to me. I hate working with the stuff. Love how soft it is, but I have way too much of it here. It will be a joy to donate that!!
Hope to sit down later and crochet a bit. Have a great evening Ginny
