Hi Everyone I just checked my ice cube tray and it has 16 cubes, not 12 like I said earlier - just so you know that you'll get more cubes for the frozen coffee. I'm glad to hear that the recipe is only 3 smart points too and that some of you might try it

Thanks for the update on the ice cubes CJ- and that reminds me, I am going to make some coffee now and get it in the freezer. think I will put together a cup of vanilla instant coffee (both Dd and I love that) which I think will work out great in the recipe). If I make it now it will be nice and chilled for later!
Ruth- love your new avatar. Sounds as though you are getting nice and organized .....all things that will make your life easier.
Thank you Lord for cooler weather! Our airconditioners are off and the windows are open. Did not get any crocheting in last night, but am hopeful for today.
Off to make that coffee (does this count as crafting?). Hey CJ- think you got the same weather change as me- and that cooler temps are in store for us. My buddy is vacationing in Assateaque Island (Va portion) and has filled me in with her weather..
Have a great day! Ginny

I'm going to make some coffee soon to freeze. Maybe, as Ginny said, some instant flavored coffee...some international coffee maybe and surprise dh with a nice flavorful refreshing beverage.
Worked on crocheting last night and made a cute outfit with a ruffled top and ruffled skirt. I'm working on matching undies to go with it. I have one more shirt to make or sweater and I'll be done.Next I'm going to start the blanket for the new little guy and some mittens and a sweater that grandaughter Lily said she would like.Oh and have to finish the fingerless gloves for the oldest dgd before she gets here.or maybe I'll finish them while they're here and that way I can show her how to make them too.All of those grandchildren love to do crafts.
It's a nice day today and not much haze from the smoke. I think it was Ginny who asked how far Montana fires are from here...well it's over 600 miles. It's hard to believe smoke can travel that far but it does and they say that's what's been making it so hazy and cloudy looking here.
It's hard to believe it's the middle of the week again. Monday didn't seem like a Monday because it was more like a holiday thing with the eclipse and all so I'm kinda mixed up on my days this week. Tues I'm going to drop off a whole bunch of bags at Goodwill. Dh is probably having palpitations thinking of getting rid of so much "stuff" I wish he would go thru his clothes before that so I could take them too but he won't. I did manage to get two pairs of shorts away from him

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
It's funny about that frappe - I don't drink coffee but I like it in Mocha things and sometimes expresso with chocolate. I bet those flavored coffees would really make the frappe taste good.
Ginny - I think it's interesting that you grow peppermint, I'm guessing you use it for lots of things. I bet it smells nice. I'm glad you had a nice time at the beach too. Glad you had some time to work on your afghan.
Ruth - I'm excited for you to have your DGD visit and maybe work on some crafts together. I bet she will like that. I'm always amazed at hearing about how smoke travels and how long it lingers. Hope you get some more crocheting in today.
Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both doing well and getting to do some crafting.
I don't know if I mentioned that I bought a new sewing machine - a Brother PQ1500SL. It's a machine that only does a straight stitch and is mechanical. It has great reviews and I'm getting it to work on machine quilting all those tops I have done. I ordered it a few weeks ago and picked it up today at the quilt shop. I'm looking forward to setting it up and playing around. I'm going to practice with some fat quarters. I sure hope I like it so that I can work on my quilts. This way I'll only have to save the really large ones to quilt at the shop or maybe if I get comfortable enough I could do them at home.
I managed to get out of the quilt shop with only a spool of thread and some extra needles for my new machine. I didn't even look at the fabric - I have to stop buying fabric
Take care everyone!

Hello, cj, Ruth, Phyl & Ginny,
Not a lot happening here today and it is a stay home day for me. I did quite a bit of running around yesterday doing errands. I was tired when I got home. so today I am lazy. No crafting though I did check out some patterns last evening. I seems cooler here today. But it always heats up in the afternoon.
cj, your coffee drink sounds interesting, I will think about giving it a try. I am not drinking coffee at the moment.
Ginny, I am glad you enjoyed your holiday. I love going to the beach and wish I lived closer. I am about 2 hiurs from the coast where like to go. I love to go to Point Reyes which is on the coast just North of San Francisco. I haven't been there for awhile. Finding a nice clean beach is great even if you have to pay a fee.
Ruth, how are the outfits coming along for the cabbage patch dolls are coming along? I read somewhere that the CP kids are worth a lot of money now? Do they still sll them in the stores? I think my 2 DGDs had them but they are long gone . Phyl, I am sure you are keeping busy as usual. Hope that there is less hip pain.
Wrote a long e-mail to my niece in England this morning and now I am going to take a break.

CJ, Yes you did mention that you ordered that sewing machine and I'm so excited for you that you were able to pick it up today. I hope it works really well for you and does what you thought it would do. I need to get back to some sewing myself.
Meg, I'm glad to hear you're having a resting day. After a day of errands a person does need a day of rest. I don't think these cabbage patch kids would be worth anything to a collector. They've been played with. I was amazed though that a few years back...must have been in 2011.. I was in a consignment shop looking at clothes for the dgd that was then on the way...and saw a cabbage patch doll that was sitting behind the counter not even marked for sale yet and I asked the woman how much she wanted for it and she sold it to me for $3. Yes they do sell new ones. I haven't looked in stores but they have them online. I just bought one about two weeks ago for my new great grandaughter but it's a tiny one... I think they called it a swaddler and said it was rare. I don't think it's rare at all. It's just a toy. It was sent with no box and the tag was bent so even if it was rare it wouldn't be worth much. Tags have to be pristine. I didn't pay much for it either. As for the clothing I'm making I'm nearly done although I'll probably keep making some clothing even after I've sent the dolls with the clothing I've been making lately.I'll just do some now and then between other projects. As long as they have the dolls they'll need clothes. I do hope they keep the dolls because they are quite old and they're actually in good shape and I know they'll take good care of their "babies"

Good evening!
Meg, good to hear from you- rest up. THere will be plenty of days for you to be busy. I hope your day ended up cooler and more comfortable
Ruth- you had me howling over Dh having heart palpitations over your charitable donations! Sounds like my Dh, who is all about me getting rid of stuff, but he gets rid of nothing. What will you work on when you are done with the doll clothing?
CJ- enjoy your new machine! Tell us all about it and how you like it. Please check your temperature...I am concerned because you are not buying fabric! But I think we all understand that sometimes its best to play with what you have.
Phyl- hope you are having fun and getting some crafting in.
I grow both peppermint and chocolate peppermint. I am curious to see how the chocolate peppermint does in tea. ANd yes, I use it in many different things, including home made soap. Got a few minutes of crocheting in.
Have a great evening Ginny

Ginny, my ddil goes in spurts of doing certain things and awhile back she was making handmade soap. My dh was just talking this morning about her soaps and wondering if she still have the ingredients and was going to get back into it because he loves her soap. She must have spent a mint on buying all the needed ingredients so I hope she does sometime get back to it before the ingredients spoil but with soon to be 8 children and homeschooling she's pretty busy although all the children have their chores and they all help with taking care of each other. I mentioned earlier that I was going to work on the new baby's blanket and grandaughter Lily's "would like to have" items but as I was working on this doll shirt I remembered that I still have to finish Stephanie's cupcake purse. All I have to do is the chain for the drawstring and put on the drawstring bead and then I want to make a little change purse to go with it..."grandma always sends me money" and all. THEN I'll get on to the next things. Still have to wrap and pack and still have to put on the buttons on these cpk clothes and maybe a couple little appliques...hearts and stars but I'm not sure about those. They items look cute without them so I may just leave them as is.To do the drawstring I have to hunt down the elusive pink yarn that is the ruffle row of the purse because it does need that pink to look completed. It's somewhere in the craft room Ginny, my dh is different than your's in that he doesn't want me to get rid of anything either. He always thinks we may need whatever it is in the future. OH, old holey t shirts....we could use those to dust or wash the floor... or to wipe our hands after changing oil in the lawnmower.....NO...we won't...not all he wants me to keep . and old flattened down pillows...no way am I re using the stuffing.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm glad you were able to get out and run errands, you must be feeling better. The National Park Service has a webcam that show Point Reyes NP and I used to check that out sometimes - it looks like a beautiful place. Ginny - I'm not sick, just realizing that I'll never use all the fabric I have in my lifetime and I need to be more selective about what I buy. But resisting that pretty fabric is difficult Does the chocolate peppermint actually taste like chocolate and mint? I've never hear of it. Ruth - I'm really bad about wanting to save everything too, thinking I'll need it someday. It's going to be difficult for me when I get serious about cleaning out this house. Sounds like you are busy with making more clothes for the dolls, I'm sure they are cute. Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting. I pulled out the manual for the new machine so I'll read through it and then when I'm ready I'll practice some piecing on it first to get a feel for it before I try any machine quilting. I have so many fat quarters and pieces of fabric that I like that I can make a bunch of practice sandwiches to quilt and then I'll get to enjoy looking at the fabric. It's so much cooler here today, so it feels good to have the windows open and get some of the heat out of the house. Take care everyone!

Good morning CJ and those that stop in later. Cj, it's great that you've reached point where you realize that you have enough fabric. I know when we see new fabric that we don't have there's a tremendous temptation to get more. Same with yarn. Twice recently I was able to keep myself from ordering more yarn...when Ginny offered us that coupon and Monday when Herrschner's had twenty one cent shipping. I really wanted to get some more yarn but realistically, I have more than I'll ever be able to use. I've been busy between cpk clothes making hats with some yarn a friend gave me. I don't want it to go to waste. When I get that used I'm going to start making those baby blankets to donate. Winter will be here before we know it. I also have to start on Christmas. Anyway, congrats, CJ in standing your ground. The other thing I applaud you for is reading throug the manual. I'm so bad about reading those things and instructions but the last machine I bought I actually did read thru it.
It's a beautiful day here. Sunny but not too warm yet. I finished the one last shirt I wanted to make and the undies for the skirt/shirt outfit for one of the dolls so basically I'm done right now. I do want to make two more pairs of slippers/booties for the other two that don't have them yet but they take about two minutes to make. Then I'll sew on buttons and do the finishing if I find any that need any other finishing touches.
I did find a couple more patterns though that I may have to make but after I get the current items finishing touches done I'm at least going to take a couple days off making these little clothes. I want to get started on that baby blanket. So tomorrow will be finishing day I think unless I get inspired to do it today. I had planned for that to occur last Friday but as they say...best laid plans and all.
CJ it is amazing the uses we can find for the things we save.We do a lot of repurposing. I do hate to see things wasted. ONe thing I really dislike is wasting food. We(dh and I) tend to stock up on foods that are on sale and since there's just the two of us sometimes things become outdated. I don't mind eating food that's outdated up to a certain point. I know most things are good long after their "best by" date but there are some things that I don't like to take a chance on and sometimes things get pushed back on shelves and get "lost" for just too long so out they go.Some things like canned tomatoes and their products take on a bad taste when they get too old.So we've been trying to pass by the "bargains" that don't end up being bargains of we have too many of them and have to dispose of them

Oh and CJ, I was just thinking that caramel syrup would be good in that mocha frappe also...I love caramel, and put a little ice cream in it and you get a while different drink that would be fantastic too.

Good evening!
Very busy day for me... as I figure the days will be until Dd goes back to school. Life is complicated but good.
CJ- have fun with that machine!
Ruth- well my Dh loves to see my stuff leave (he thinks I have too much crafting supplies). But he also is one to try to save things like the shirt with hole in it to wash the floor! Anyway, I hope you can move onto the baby afghan....
Meg and Phyl- hope you are doing well
Hopefully will have more time tomorrow Ginny

Ginny, my dh used to think I had too much in the way of craft supplies but then I think he realized that he has a bunch of supplies for various hobbies he's had for short times over the years plus all the tools he has and all his collections so he can't say much. In fact the other day when Herrschner's had the 21cent shipping he said I should have ordered some after he asked if there was some that I wanted, I said yes, and that's when he said i should have ordered. He's been ordering a few things lately himself.Other than craft supplies he's afraid that if I get rid of things I'll change my mind and then just buy more
I had a flood in my bathroom today so that took up a lot of my time digging everything out from under the sink. I've wanted to do that and now I was forced to go ahead and do it. so now it's drying out so tomorrow if all goes well I can put it all back in and maybe find some things to get rid of or relocate.

Good morning!
Ruth, That stinks that you had a leak under your bathroom sink- which I hope was an easy repair or remedy. (Thanks for the reminder, I have to dump a bowl that is catching a s-l-o-w leak under my kitchen sink that Dh says he will get to "someday". I dump the bowl each week to make sure I do not have a mess) The good part about all this is that you were cleaning and purging stuff anyway-so this just keeps you in that mode. Will you have to throw out anything ruined by "the flood".
Speaking of floods, prayers to those in the Texas areas readying for the arrival of Hurricane Harvey. This sounds like a horrible situation.....think I mentioned from our trip to the beach the other day that I was surprised that some areas in the Jersey shore are still not recovered from Hurricane Sandy 5 years ago.
Not sure what today will bring. It will still probably include some running around for Dd- who heads back to college this weekend. She likes her school, just not all the work that she has to do to keep good grades.
Hope to get some crocheting in today. I am also going through a bag of papers from my parents- stuff mainly from the 60's- looking to either recycle or burn it all. So far I have found nothing worth keeping. Its mainly old tax records, so destroying them is the right thing to do.
Gonna go....will stop back in later to see how everyone is doing. Ginny

Good morning Ruth, Ginny, cj & Phyl,
Just checking in before I leave for my Dr. Appt.. Yesterday I had the upper GI procedure It went OK but I had a different DR, this time. I preferred my previous Dr. but she retired. I didn't remember anything after she finished. I don't know what yesterdays Dr. gave me but I remember everything. My insides felt uncomfortable last night but I finally got to sleep and I feel fine this morning. Today they are going to check out my heart. Then I might go to Knit Wits I haven't been there for ages. No crafting Yesterday. Devin surprised me he asked me if I would knit him a pair of slipper booties. So I will get busy with them soon
Ginny, I am sure you will be sorry to see DD go off to College again. But you have enjoyed her company during the summer. I hope you enjoy your tea when you get all the ingredients gathered together.
Ruth, sorry about your bathroom leak. I hate taking care of that kind of mess. I hope everything is back to normal. I am with you I like to use a basic pattern and make my changes so that it looks different.
Now I need to get myself out of here. I will check back later have a great day.
