Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I think caramel would work very well in that Frappe recipe. I'm sorry to hear about the leak in your bathroom, I hope you were able to get it fixed. I've reached the maximum limit with yarn too. I was buying it like crazy last Winter, and recently looked through what I have and realized I don't need anymore Ginny - Hope things aren't too busy before your DD goes back to college and you go back to work. Maybe you'll get a little bit of time to relax. Meg - I hope you are doing better today after that procedure yesterday and that your appointment today goes well. Also hope you get to go to Knit Wits. I'm sure you'll enjoy making those slippers for Devin. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and busy crafting. I read through the machine manual and I can tell it will be a learning curve with this machine, it's very different from ones I've used before. But I'm excited to try it. I also found a table that I can use to set it up on, but I'll need to take it down when I'm not using it because it will have to fit near my mat where I cut fabrics and press blocks. It would be really nice to have a big empty room to set up a bunch of tables with work stations and also have racks for my fabric storage - maybe someday Take care everyone!

CJ, actually it wasn't really a leak, it was that I somehow left the water turned on just a little bit and had the cpk clothes that were on them when new, soaking and the sink ran over.
CJ, I hate things that have a learning curve. I'm an impatient person and don't like having to get used to things. Once I do though I feel great that I've learned something new.
My craft room is very small so not really any room for tables. I do have two shelving units in there though which helps. After my visitors leave (dgd is going to use that room to sleep in while here) I want to make wall space for my little desk that has my sewing machine on it. since we never eat at our dining room table I use that to cut fabric. I don't even have a bed in there since all wall space is used so she will be sleeping on a nice air mattress. Dh and I once slept on one at their house and it was very comfortable.
Ginny, as far as I know nothing was ruined by the water. I had mostly extra bottles of shampoo, other toiletries, and towels in there. I had some hair clippers which we I don't think have ever used and some curling irons that I never use.
Ginny, I imagine your dd will be excited to get back to her school but it sure is a lot of work doing all that studying. It's not easy for sure
Dh had to replace the outside faucet a few months back and the pipes are under our kitchen sink. When he got done there was a small leak. After all that work he was going to take it all apart again but I told him to just leave it for now and I'd put a dish under it. He did and it stopped leaking on it's own.I was thankful for that because he always gets grumpy when fixing anything...or maybe stressed then grumpy
I haven't got much done today because dh wanted me to look at Jet.com's website to see if there is anything I wanted because you get 15% off your first three orders and he wanted to try to maximize the savings (you get $20/order). So I've spend the last couple hours looking thru the site. I didn't know they are owned by Walmart.
Meg, they keep changing the med they give for a scope so some have more amnesiac properties than others. My dh knew and remembered everything that went on during his first one including the assistant mentioning that she mixed up the biopsy samples..good thing none ended up being cancerous or they wouldn't have known which it was so wouldn't have known the specific location to remove later. They would have had to do yet another scope first. Then the doctor thought he may have perforated dh's colon. Luckily that didn't turn out to be the case.
Ok, I'm waiting for dh to complete his part of the order than I'll order on my laptop. Then maybe I can get some real work done. I have to sort thru all that stuff I had under the sink then will get back to the finishing touches on crocheted things. I do want to sort thru my coat closet too. It's packed. I don't think we need all those coats, shoes and boots that are in there.
Meg, I'm glad you're feeling better today and I hope the heart testing goes well. I do hope you get to knitwits. It's nice that Devin appreciates that his great grandma is a fantastic knitter and has asked for a pair of slipper
Have a great day all

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I pulled the new sewing machine out of the box and went through the contents. I've been watching videos today on how to thread it and wind and insert the bobbins. I'm going to try to wind some bobbins and thread the machine later while it's still fresh in my mind. Watching the videos has really made me excited to use this machine, it looks like it's going to be great for machine quilting and even for piecing - which I want to try first. Take care everyone!

Ginny, it sure seems like the summer has gone by fast. I know you enjoyed having your dd home. That's the problem with children...they grow up way too fast.
Didn't end up getting anything done yesterday that I had planned. After I helped dh with looking thru Jet.com and visiting and doing a few dishes I read for the rest of the evening. This morning I've sorted thru all the stuff that was under the bathroom sink in that cupboard and have put some back in a bin so that it's easy to pull out and some is set aside to go down under the sink downstairs and in the linen closet...not that much more will fit in there despite the fact that I bagged up a lot of things from there to go to GW. I found that we don't have a pair of hair clippers, we have TWO!! They aren't in packages but I really don't think they've ever been used and I'm sure won't be used in the future either so hopefully dh agrees to let them go.I have a curling iron still in the package that I was going to put in GW bag but I'll wait and see if dgd wants to use it while she's here and she could take it home with her too if she has room or I could put it in one of the boxes I send for a birthday.
So hopefully I'll get the finishing touches done on the cpk clothes today and can start getting the box together to send after I wrap the gifts for youngest dgd.
I made a mistake the ohter day when I said it wasn't too hot. All of a sudden we've been back to 90's and it's to be that way all week.At least we don't have humidity.
Have a great and safe day everyone

CJ, I didn't see you there. I once bought a serger and it had videos. I just couldn't deal with watching videos and learning all I needed to learn so I gave it to my ddil who used it a lot. I'm glad you like the videos and they inspire you to learn, practice and become proficient at using your new machine. You'll have a great time with it. I can imagine all the beautiful quilts you're going to make with it.

Good evening!
CJ- congrats on your excitement at learning all about your new brother. Does the shop you purchased it from also have classes on your machine and how to use it?
RUth, good for you finishing all the cp clothes and getting ready to pack them up. So sorry that the hot weather has returned. Like you I would be disappointed to have 90's again.
Crazy busy day. We went to a family reunion (Dh's side) and then came home to have dinner with Dd. We send her back to school tomorrow....indeed they grow up too darned fast.
Hi to Meg and Phyl- who I hope is not on the FBI's most wanted list.
Have a lovely evening- by tomorrow evening, things will be back to normal and I will be able to post more. G

Ginny, being that it's so late where you are I didn't think you'd post today so am happily surprised to see you. I hope you had good time at the reunion even if it was your dh's family.
Time was wasted again today on that same internet site. They company sent dh an email telling him they cancelled one of the items he ordered. Dh checked on their site and found that they did, indeed, still have the exact thing only over $6 more so he sent them and email and told them nicely about their tactics not being acceptable. So to make a long story short, after exchanging a couple more emails they told him that the one he saw was from a different seller so it cost more but they would sell it to dh for that lower price and they also gave him a $10 credit. Dh gets very stressed having to deal with things like that but he actually did pretty good and it all worked out. It did take up much of my time though and although I did get done most of what I wanted to get done today but haven't got to finish the cpk clothes yet, nor did I wrap yet. May still do it tonight but probably not till tomorrow.
Get a good rest everyone

Hello everyone. It has been very hot here today, 104 today and tomorrow. I did go out with Devin to get his Mom a B/day present. We went to one store and then home. Too hot to be outside but at least it was cool in the car. I went to my Knit Wits gp. yesterday first time in weeks. It was nice to see everyone. Next Friday I will miss again because I will have my cataract surgery then. I counted all my medical appointments for Aug. 12 appointments and 6 days in the hospital. I am hoping that next month I wont have so many.
cj, how exciting to have a new machine and I hope that soon you will know how use it. I am sure the videos will help. I always have to have someone show me when I get something new.
Ruth, I was reading today about so many stores closing which will not affect you as you mail order so much. I do not mail order much but my DGD does she doesn't like shopping. I order from Blair quite a bit mostly for DD as I have to buy all her clothes. I need to start ordering for the coming season. I am glad you are almost ready to send off the clothes for the CP Kids. I am sure your DGDs will love them. It always feels good to complete a project.
Ginny, so you will have an empty nest after tomorrow. But she did get home quite often last year and I hope she will be back soon for a weekend. I hope you enjoyed the family reunion. I would love to go to a family reunion but that is not likely to happen. I do miss not living closer to my family.
Phyl, I hope you are happy where ever you are.
Sleep well and good night.

Meg, with having cataract surgery you'll still have a lot of appointments for them to check the status of your eye after surgery but probably not nearly as many as you had in August. I didn't realize your surgery was coming up so soon. I'll be praying that all goes well as it usually does after that type of surgery.
I don't buy clothes online. I tried it but they didn't fit right so I do still have to go to stores for clothing. They say that a lot of stores in our mall have closed and I'm sure that our Penny's store is closing but I never go to the mall so it really won't affect me. Strange thing is they're building a lot on the other side of town and lots of new stores are opening there. I'm not sure what stores they are or what quality stores they are.The mall used to be the last thing on the east side of town. Now it's as though a while new town has opened east of the mall. I live west of town so I don't see any of it except when dh wants to go to Menards which is not often.
Well I haven't actually finished the cpk clothes yet. I was hoping to yesterday, then today but didn't happen. Tomorrow I have quite a few things to do but I do hope I can finish them then.
Good to see you Meg.

Good evening!
Sounds like a busy week ahead for all of us-
Meg, will keep your surgery in prayer. I remember earlier n the summer you were anxious to get it done as soon as you could. Wow September came around quickly. Its a simple procedure, and I am sure you will come through it well. What a blessing it will be to see more clearly, without cataracts clouding your vision.
Ruth, well the good news is that the company resolved Dh's issue and gave you a credit also. It is amazing though how long the process takes to get it all resolved- emails, phone calls, online chats....just a huge amount of time. And indeed it is frustrating. My Dh also relies on me to take care of stuff like that. How nice it is that our husbands trust us so much- but it sure seems a bit unfair at times. You will finish those CPU clothes tomorrow or the next day.....
CJ and Phyl, hope you are both doing well and having fun crafting.
Took Dd to church (the one she attends while at school) and then got her set up in her dorm. She is not looking forward to this semester- she has tough classes and will have a lot of work. She met her new roommate, who is of the same major as she is! Her roomate seems nice and a dedicated student also. I hope it works out. Last years roomate went on to become a residence assistant- so Dd could no longer room with her. Other friends got a room at the "new dorm"- so Dd took a gamble- got the room across the hall from her friends- and the university assigned a roomate to her. Hope it all works out ok. We are not really empty nesters as Ds still lives here. Glad he is still here- for all of us.....he recently lost a coworker very unexpectedly- we are glad to be here for him to help him deal with the loss.
No crafting today- we have been so busy. Have a great night. Gee, is tomorrow really Monday? GInny

Hello everyone, A busy day today. I went to church this morning and got home before it got too hot and it was hot again today. I stayed home this afternoon and did some reading. I started Devin's slipper boots. He got himself in big trouble today and I have put the computers off limits. I am looking forward to my eye surgery as I have heard very positive reports from people who have had it done.
Ginny, I am glad you got your DD off to college and I hope she gets along with her new room mate. Your DD sounds like a sensible young woman.
Ruth, I often have to send clothes back which I hate. But it is easier for me to order clothes for my DD. I used to find good quality clothes at sears for her and my self but when they joined forces with K Mart the quality is not as good. What I do like about Blair is that a lot of their clothes are a cotton polyester blend which wears well and doesn't shrink. My pants are getting too big for me which is a good problem to have but I have a lot of good pants. I have not been dieting I just loose weight. I will check at Penny's sometimes I find pants there that I like. Tomorrow I will go grocery shopping.
I wish you all a good night.

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that your ds lost a coworker. That is hard. I'm glad you were able to attend church with your dd and get her settled and am happy to hear that her new roomate is also a dedicated student. It sure makes things very difficult if your roomate adds to your stress. I know your dd will do very well this semester and I hope she finds that it's not as difficult as she anticipates. Well I did get quite a lot of the finishing done on the cpd clothes. I have a little more to do and then I'll wrap dgd's gifts and also get these cpks all situated and get all of it into a box for shipping. I think we'll go out on Tues or Wed and I'll mail it then and hopefully she'll get the box before ds and dgd leave so that they can all "help" with the box and present opening. And yes I gave into temptation. Day before yesterday there was a yarn sale and dh said I should get some so I did. It was free shipping and a summer sale. That is some yarn for baby blankets to donate. It's really pretty and I think the mothers will be happy to have blankets made with it. Then today another company was having a big sale plus free shipping and it's one where dh picked out some yarn for a hat so he even wanted to look at the yarn and pick out some for another hat. He found some he liked and then I found some I wanted too so I think I need another room for even more yarn. Actually after ds and dgd have been here I'm going to try to rearrange things some more and find more space in that room. I should have bought a house with more bedrooms . It's a large house but has only three. Maybe I should wall in one of these alcoves and make it into my craft room annex. I also got my cupboard doors cleaned but I want to go over them tomorrow with furniture polish...they're wood.Another thing on my agenda for fall. REmember back when you were refinishing that coffee table, Ginny, and I mentioned painting my cupboards...well it still hasn't been done so that's in my plans. Well see what happens. Yes I can't believe we're just hours away from another Monday and brand new week

Meg, I didn't see you there. Poor Devin. But it's always good to hear that there are still children who have to face consequences when they get into trouble.
I've had cataract surgery Meg and it's just amazing great the vision is after it's done. The colors being brighter was a surprise to me. I hadn't noticed them being so faded. Doctor warned me that the blue wouldn't stay as bright as it is immediately after surgery and he was right. He only will do one eye so I can still compare eyes and see how different vision was with the cataract since there still is one on my left eye.
