Congratulations to your grandsons, Anne! Starting college is such an exciting time.
Honestly, as my grandmother used to say, "If it was raining soup, all I would have is a fork." Our cupboard was bare, so went to grocery store and DH went with me to do the heavy lifting as I had to buy a lot. As we were pulling out from the store left onto the highway, just as we were across two lanes suddenly our transmission made a horrible noise and just quit. Scary!! Two very nice young men came to the rescue and helped us get back off the highway. Called roadside assistance for a tow service, and step-son #2 came and brought me back home along with the groceries. DH waited for the tow truck which just came. Not going to be a cheap fix for sure, but I am grateful that there was no accident as we could have easily been hit by oncoming traffic.
Also, it renewed my faith in humanity because as we were waiting many people stopped to offer help, if they could get us water as it is hot, etc. Good people, and it's nice to be reminded of that. It also makes you wonder too, because since I am in a very red county in a very red state you can bet that the majority of that large group of kind people voted for the JA. Again, I just don't understand that, but I do recognize that they are good, kind people, and they have nothing in common with the JA.
