Hello to all and welcome to the new week I've been having a lot of problems with amazon lately. I keep saying I won't order from them again (should listen to Ginny's dh) but then one of us see's something that costs less there so we take another chance. Two items I ordered never arrived. Two of my orders were cancelled because of "technical problems"...whatever that means. One of the things I ordered was a bundle and one item in the bundle was missing. Another, although it said in large caps that the temp part was in F , it was actually in C. And then yesterday I found an order listed that I did not order at all. There were also a couple other problems that I can't remember right now. Luckily they do resolve them all so far anyway. I did receive one item that sure didn't seem like it was worth the price but let that go. Guess I could have returned it. anyway the item that I didn't order I receive an answer to my email to them and it said that they had refunded my money in total including shipping charges and if home I should refuse the order or if not let them know and they would arrange a pick up or a return label. I emailed back to thank then and said pick up would be easier for me since I have no printer to print the return label and am elderly. Well then I got another email telling me to keep the item..the said either discard, donate or do whatever I liked with it.Well it is an item that dh ordered from them last month and he liked it so well he ordered a second one but this one would make the third one and we sure don't need three so will donate.I keep hoping they will realize that I'm an honest person. I know there are people that scam them but I'm not one of those. I don't expect to get anything for nothing. All I've managed to complete today is dealing with that and trying to set up my new credit cards online so I can look at my balances before the statements arrive.Still have one of the cpk's clothing to do buttons for and need to finish dgd's cupcake purse and change purse then wrap and pack. Boring to hear all this I know but I do love to blab.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I did try out the machine and did some piecing. It wasn't too difficult to thread, just a few more steps than a normal machine. Yesterday I spent some time pressing fabrics for a few projects. Now when I feel like it I can do all the cutting for them. Had a dental appointment this morning to get my crown replaced, this is the one that keeps falling out. They made a new one and put in more support so hopefully this one will stay in. The weather is cooler this week, so that's nice. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone,
Looked at my calendar for the week this morning and it looked free until Fri. when I get my cataract surgery. Went with DS to buy groceries and when I got back I checked my e-mail and I had a request to phone cardiology. So now I have an appointment with them tomorrow. I was just hoping not to have any Dr. appts. this week. It is very hot here today 105 this afternoon. So I will be staying home the rest of the day. I may knit or crochet and I may just read and take a nap.
cj, I am so glad you are learning to work your machine and you are having fun as you do it. I hope it makes quilting easier for you.
Ruth, Sorry you are having problems with Amazon. I haven't ordered much from them. When DH was in the USAF we did a lot of ordering when we were overseas and sometimes we would have problems. One time Montgomery Wards got our account mixed up with someone whos name was similar to ours and I had a hard time trying to convince them that they were making a mistake. Here in he Sacramento area we have lots of stores. Of course if they gradually close some of them I will probably have to do more ordering.
Ginny, Thanks for starting us off on another week. I hope you are having a relaxing day.
Phyl, I hope your day is going well.

CJ, I'm glad to hear that your new machine is working well for you and it wasn't too hard to thread. You're doing very well getting back into the spirit of crafting.
Meg, I saw the other day that you order clothing online for Janet. that sounds like a good idea. I imagine that you can return if they don't fit correctly.
Now Amazon went in the other direction and credited me with too much so I need to email them and tell them about that. First time they included shipping charges which they needed to do and the second time just credited with the proce of the item so hopefulll they will get it right.
Went out to water plants and to the mailbox. Didn't get much except for junk mail. I keep hoping to get a letter from my friend that doesn't have a computer. Haven't heard from her in awhile so I hope she's ok. She's had breast cancer twice.

Good evening all!!
Meg, glad your are able to order clothes online for Janet..I would think that having garments that are a polyester blend hold up better through multiple washings and perhaps not so gentle handling. Glad that you have an easy week ahead of you- hopefully you can get several books on CD lined up so that at the end of the week you have god reading material to listen to. Do you ever revisit a favorite book? Wish we could share some cooler weather with you...so sorry it is still so warm near you. Oh, and I hope that Devin is behaving himself. If he does not he will have to deal with all of us, and we are very protective of you! Speaking of buying on a military base, have you heard in the news that soon former military will be able to shop at the PX? Dh is excited about it, as we have a military base not too far from us. THink that will take place sometime this year. Please take care of yourself......gotta stay healthy!
CJ- glad you are getting the hang of the new machine. Can you take a class where you bought the machine on how to use it? that might be helpful. I am sure in no time you will have the hang of it and be finishing all those quilt tops you made.
Ruth-whenever possible I am ordering from Walmart.com and finding them very good to deal with. I am planning another order shortly for essential oils and cat food- and odd combo yes, but it works and gets me free shipping. I hate to go political here, but Dh really dislikes the president of Amazon's politics- and so we will support Walmart. But then most big corporations are dirty....think its fighting a losing battle. You are getting a ton of housework done! But that is nice to do before it gets too cold and you retreat to your winter quarters. I do hope you hear from your friend....perhaps a short card or note from you might help?
that reminds me I have to send a card tomorrow to a friend who has stomach cancer. She is undergoing chemo now.
Today was spent stil straightening out medical issues for Dd (and I am not done yet!) and getting a care package out to her. I made a quick batch of indoor s'mores, which mail well, and put in an encouraging note. Then it was on the phone with the doctor, and transferring her recent blood work between doctors. I do believe she is ok and all will be ok, but feel compelled to do as much as I can to support her. So......no crafting yet today.
I will be donating a lot of that darned Homespun yarn to BBBS next month. I have done nothing with it for years, and welcome the space that donating the yarn will free up. Tomorrow I am going to clean the room that Dd's stuff was stored in for the summer- it also has the toys for the grandkids, who I am babysitting tomorrow evening. A relaxing week? I think not.
Hope Phyl is doing well. Have a good evening Ginny

Ginny, Janet goes through a lot of clothes so it is easier to order from Blair. On the whole I have been pleased with the clothes and I do order some for myself. I have lost quite a lot of weight and I am going to have to get some new pants. I may go to Penny's for those. I don't really enjoy shopping any more. I hope your DD is going to be ok and gets good test results. I am sure she will enjoy your care package. You are a good Mom. I agree with you about the Home Spun yarn, I know one woman at Knit Wits who knits with it all the time. Sorry that your friend has cancer and is going through chemo. I hope it works for her. You mentioned that your DH is looking forward to being able to shop at the PX. I don't shop a lot there but I do shop at the commissary. I go about every 2 weeks and stock up. That's where I went today for groceries. All the military bases were closed in Sacramento but because there were so many retired military prople living here they decided to keep the BX and the commissary open, The hospital at Mather AFB is now a VA hospital and they have a VA office at McClellan AFB.
Ruth, yes I can return anything that does not fit or what ever.
Good night.

Ginny, it does sound like you are indeed going to be having a busy week. I know your dd will be thrilled with the care package. If I were away from home I know I'd love one.And the indoor smores sound really interesting. And as a mother, I know you are very interested in and concerned about the health of all your children.
I'm sorry to hear that your friend has stomach cancer. I'll put her on my prayer list.
I've never checked into the political views of the Amazon president. I do stay away from AARP because of theirs.
The homespun yarn is easy to knit with but crocheting with it I find about impossible. I did see a nice pattern using it but I can't even remember now what the pattern was for. It was a knitting pattern...probably a blanket but if I was planning to make a blanket with it I'd just do plain old stockinette stitch or even just garter stitch
It will be great for my ds to be able to shop at the commissary at Ft Knox. I've been to it with them and it's pretty nice and the prices sure are good. He was in the Army for 10 years.I was never impressed with the BX and PX I was in
Meg, when you had your scope was it an upper and lower or just an upper? Did the people at the cardio mention why they wanted you to come in tomorrow? Didn't you just have an ECHO or something? I hope everything is ok.
I'm finally completely done with the cabbage patch clothing. I just need to get that and the dolls in the box. It's going to be awhile before I make any more of those. There are patterns i want to make but I'm just tired of doing them right now.

Well I got all the cpks and their clothes, blankets, and slings all tucked into the box and dgs' really cute stuffed cow with it's blanket and sling ( can't leave the little guy out) I can't believe it's 5pm already. I did get some things done but more to do today. I still have to wrap dgd's presents and put them in the box with cpks then seal it up and then make dinner. I think that's all I'll do today except to finish my book and then start on my list of next crochet projects.Presents shouldn't take long once I get started.
I hope all of you are having a good day and I sure hope all goes well at Meg's cardio appointment.
I'll stop back later.

Hello everyone, another hot day but not quite as hot as yesterday when it reached 109. Today is about 99.I had my apt today with the cardiologist re my ECHO last fri. I had an ECHO when I was in the hospital which showed that I had a heart valve which was narrow. The ECHO I had last Fri showed that the valve was not as narrow as the first test. So that was good news and he will see me in a year unless I have problems. Then when I got home I had a call to make an appointment tomorrow re sleep clinic. I thought I was going to have an appointment free week until Fri. but I guess not. I am thankful that I have such good medical care so I shouldn't complain.
I did work on the slipper boot for Devin last night and listened to an audio book. probably do the same this evening.
Ruth , my scope last week was upper. I did have an ECHO and I talked to them today. I was afraid they were going to tell me something I didn't want to hear. But the DR. was very nice and spent a lot of time talking to me and asking questions I thought he was very thorough, I hadn't seen him before. I am sure you are happy that the CP are finished and you can move on to another project. You know they will be appreciated. That's a good idea. sit down and relax and finish your book.
I am going to make a cup of tea and relax and read my book.
Take care

Good evening!
Meg, so glad to learn that your scope and echo were fine. That is wonderful news that your valve is not as narrowed as originally thought., Its really good news that you do not have to return for a year. Obviously then they did not see anything bad. Well, I know you were looking to go a week without a doctor appointment, and I hope that the sleep clinic appointment works out ok. I wonder if they will ask you to sleep there or wear the monitor at home. (My son used the home monitor). Will pray for you, and hope that all your appointments and procedures work out.
Ruth, well congrats on finishing all the cp clothes! You have gotten so many different items done in a short amount of time- quite an accomplishment. Your family is indeed blessed to have someone so caring and dedicated.
I also stay away from AARP because of their political views. SOmetimes its just avoidable, and I have to buy from a company I would rather not deal with, but I do try..
No crafting today, and its a long story.....We babysat from 4 until 9- and earlier in the day I got some putting away done- as I am trying to find places to keep things from my mother in law. Then I had to find where I stored Dd's wedding rings...now I never take mine off but she has tiny diamonds in her bands so during their move and renovation she was afraid she would lose the rings. So she asked me to hold hem for her. I put them in a small zip lock bag- and - now your can laugh- put them in the box that I keep my crochet hooks. (Are you laughing now?). I should have written down that I put them there, but the logic was that I figured no one would look there to steal them and I knew I would be in that box to get to my hooks. So, it did take a while to find them and all the hints that Dh gave me were of course wrong, Only a crazy woman like me would put them there! So.....it sure makes for a silly story.
Hope everyone has had a great day Ginny

hi girls, gee I been mia for about 10days. was one of those things oh I'll post tomorrow. well we know it never came.
we did go to rochester saturday. I did get the machine. kinda wish I would have gone to the shop in decorah. could have gotten more one on one. oh well I will learn it. haven't had time to play with it yet. got home Saturday about supper time.
sunday the girls and I went to the quilt shop in prairie du chen.60 miles from here. wish we had that quilt shop here. the show was wonderful. they did a lot of different things. also showed machine and hand embroidery items. some of the patterns had tiny stuff in them to embrodier. I tried that my work would look like a blob.
I did see my regular doctor yesterday. he ordered new xrays. haven't t heard anything yet.course when you are in pain at the doctor's your pain isn't bad. oh my last night I hurt from the neck down. thought I was gonnna have to have don take me to the er. why can't that pain show up at the doctor's. so far today not bad.
he also ordered two visits to pt. heck anything I have done in the past at pt I can do at home or the y.
we did go to sit and sew today. I worked on some Christmas stockings. sunday I did buy 2 yards of fabric and a owl pattern. the fabric has sewing notions on it. I want to make quilted tops for my two chest type sewing cabinets.
mary jo ended up not going . about 3 blocks from our house her brakes went out and she had to wait for the tow truck. she had her dh car. good thing ron didn't have his car. he was on the interstate and probably could have ben killed.
turns out the brake lines and everything else went out.it would have cost them 2000 to get it fix. the car was 20 years old so they got a different car. a 2014 chevy cruz. mj is very excited.phyl

Meg, I'm so glad to hear that your appointment with cardio went so well. I often wonder why when it's good news like that can't just tell you over the phone but you said he asked a lot of questions so that's good After I had my heart cath done a doctor came in and said it was fine then the cardiologist's office kept calling and leaving messages for me to make an appointment. Since I knew it was just to tell me the cath results were good I didn't bother. I didn't like the cardio and didn't want him charging Medicare and ins for an office visit I didn't need.
I wonder too, Meg why the sleep study office wants you to come in tomorrow. I would think they would make and appointment in advance for you to sleep there. And if they want you to come in after your cataract surgery you should probably ask your eye surgeon if that's a good idea. I'm sure you'll be busy too with putting in eye drops.
Ginny, that is so funny and I did something similar in the past. I had that vacation "fishing shack" in Arkansas and I had signed up for Verizon cell service before I left to go there. I got a rebate of about $50 I think it was and it came while we were down there. I didn't have a bank there so I put the check in my bag with my yarn and hooks to "keep it safe" and so that "I would remember where it was" and so that I wouldn't forget to bring it home with me. Well then I completely forgot where I put it and gave it up as a lost cause. I guess I didn't get back to that bag because months later I finally found it but it was of course expired by then.I let it go and then about a year later, maybe more, Verizon sent me a letter saying that checked was never cashed and did I need a replacement. Well I was really happy about that. I didn't think they'd replace it so was it was a great pleasant surprise.I'm glad to hear that you found the rings much faster than I found that check. And I think that's a perfect place to hide something like that.
I do have everything in the box so now I just have to tape it shut and label it. I was going to take a picture of the outfits and that cupcake purse but I didn't remember until after I had everything in so it was too late because I really get a lot into a packing box and don't dare take things back out again
I started the baby blanket but I'm just on row one. The yarn is teddy bear yarn made and sold by Herrschners and it's a little fuzzy so it's hard to see the chains to do the first row of stitches in but I've used it many times before so I know I'll get it somehow.
Ok, have a good night everyone and have a good restful sleep
I hope CJ and Phyl are ok

Oh there you are Phyl. I'm glad to see you. I'm glad to hear that your friend wasn't in the car when the brakes failed. Yes, I'd say it's time to get a new car. I'm sorry to hear that you are in such pain. I know how that is because when I was having horrible pain I made a doctor appt too and when I got there no pain. Pain started up as soon as I left and was so bad that I made another appt the next week and again, no pain while I was there. I do hope that they will be able to do something simple to help you and get rid of all the pain. Congrats on the new sewing machine. Now you and CJ both have a new one....Ginny do you think we should get a new one too?

Good morning! Phyl- we would love to hear the story of what kept you from visiting us here, but really are just glad to hear from you and that you are ok. So glad your friend is ok- a 20 year old vehicle, well, I guess it was time to say good bye o that car. Praise God that your friend and her Dh were not hurt. Our roads are such dangerous places as many drive too fast and drive distracted. I have coworkers who own Chevy Cruze and like it. That is too bad that your back has been so bad. I totally agree, that if the doctor was in the level of pain that you are he would give you the X-ray results on the spot. I will pray that you feel better, and that a therapy or easy procedure is available so that you are no longer in pain. Do what you can to stay comfortable.
Nice to hear that you have been able to get to some quilt shops! I guess each one has its own "flavor" and we all have our own personal tastes. I like the idea of making covers for your sewing machine chests... a not so big project and very practical. Take care- good to hear from you!
Ruth- well congrats on getting everything packed up and ready to go. The picture can go in another package or even just in the regular mail. So glad you understood my silly story about Dd's rings. My Dh kept telling me places to look, and I KNEW he was way off base. Anyway, your Verizon story is a good one- gee<,I do not think Verizon today Make the same offer and send a new check. The teddy bear yarn sounds nice- what color are you using? And what pattern? How are you feeling- by now you must be off the antibiotic- which I pray cleared up the infection and that you are more comfortable .
BUsy morning for us....hope that the evening is quiet.
Hope CJ gets a chance to check in. I wonder how her new machine is working out for her. Ginny
