This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year Olds board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Late start this morning. I was out last night, but see no one posted after I did. I didn't read that much yesterday, but did start the Will Trent #5, and that reads so quickly. I am about half way through Underground Railroad.
It has gotten a little colder here, but certainly nothing like the below zero temps that some of you are seeing. It was 26 this morning, so not too bad a dog walk. I had a networking meeting, then came out to my office. I have something to scan that had to do with my lease I just gave up. The dealer was going to cover the small amount of over mileage, but Toyota wants the money for the sales tax, which I can't even believe they charge you on over miles. Either way, I shouldn't have to pay it if that was the agreement I made with them.

Good afternoon Robin and AWF! It is after 1:00 and is only up to a negative 3 today----BBBRRRRRR! Probably the high for the day but is supposed to warm a little more each day starting tomorrow. Still have not been reading or listening much for one reason or another. I need to change this pattern soon.
Robin---did you win at mah jongg last night?? Good luck with your lease situation.
I have been working on some end of year things for our tax and balance sheet records yesterday and today along with some seed business with an early pay deadline of tomorrow along with some laundry so at least I am accomplishing something, just not reading. Stay warm Friends!!!

Temp here right now is 0 according to my phone but it is a bit windy and feels pretty raw out there. I skipped the Y, but spent the time I would have been there prepping dinner so it is in the crock pot and dh and I will actually have a meal tonight. Last night I was too cold to get off the couch (where I was cuddled in a blanket) so dh had leftovers. I eventually made myself eggs, dd came home from swim practice and I have no idea what she ate.
Robin - we don't walk the dog in the winter. We have a large back yard with sufficient running space for her. I just don't trust the sidewalks and I don't like to walk in the cold. Neither does dh.
Still waiting for a hold to pop up.

Marsha, the reason that I walk the dog is that it is really my exercise routine. A number of years ago my WW leader said to us, "what is your plan B for exercise.", and I said that I walk my dog longer. At that point I had done it exactly once. It was then that I started walking the 2 long walks a day. The only time I don't is when it is raining or very icy. I do walk him when there is snow on the ground, but don't do the same walk in the morning where there is a hill. My other walk is flat. I bundle up, put a coat on the dog, and go. It is a lot warmer here though. Last winter when it got down below zero we happened to be away for the weekend, and my friend had my dog. I felt bad for her, but she told me she just let the dog out in her yard. I can stand out in the back with my dog and he will do what he has to do, in a lot less time than it takes to walk him, but no exercise.
Pinky, some days are like that, no reading, but you did get a bunch accomplished. I didn't hear back from the manager from the dealer that I sent the e-mail with the bill to. I will call if I don't hear tomorrow, pretty annoying.
One of my clients finally has a contract signed on a pretty expensive house with a big mortgage, so I am happy. It's an investment property in Queens, believe it or not. You would be shocked what someone will pay here for a 2 family house.

I am feeling so much better now. I think I am back to normal. I have walked the last 3 days-not outside, Leslie Sansone DVDs
i am still reading Everyone Brave Is Forgiven. I was about to give up on it and then something happened and I want to see how it all turns out.
It is only 31 degrees and windy. Tonight it is supposed to get down to 17 and we have a chance of snow. My DD and DSIL got me heated throw (like an electric blanket, but smaller) for Christmas. I think I will get some use out of it tonight while I'm watching TV.
Everyone keep warm and be careful.

Hi Robin, Pinky, Marsha and Carol. I thought I posted earlier. I guess mot. Carol I am glad you are feeling better. Pinky that is pretty cold. We are having cold weather and it has been snowing alot today. I must say I hate to drive in it. Robin I hope you get the leade situation taken care of. I think it is great you take your dog for long walks. I jave have gotten lazy about that and let our dog out in fenced in back yard. My Dad had his first chemo treatment today. I hope he doesn't have many side effects. I am at work so I better run. Have a good evening.

Hello all! Read a bunch of Pharaoh early this a.m. while DH slept. I was unwilling to wake him as he had to drive into Houston yesterday for tests related to his lungs/transplant. They hurt him getting arterial blood gases and it is an all day thing and I could see his fatigue. Got my first shower in 7 days today! Yippee! My foot still hurts, and when I saw the metal staples in it, I realized why. A pretty big cut.
Robin--walking the dog is a great exercise motivator. One can buy a lot of house here in south Texas with a reasonable amount of money. I think that's why folks live here. That, and low taxes...
Pinky--now I need to make some calls in re tax stuff, and I still need to set up auto deduct with Medicare. Sigh.
Marsha--you and Pinky do indeed have cold weather. A nice crockpot meal sounds great. Hot chocolate, perhaps?
Carol2-glad you are feeling better.
Jill--sorry your dad is ill and wishing you strength in caring for him... CarolO
