Good morning and welcome to a new week fellow crafters!
Hey, ever wonder if we have any "lurkers" out there....do not ask me why i thought about that....but I did.
Meg, so glad to hear that you are doing well and seeing well! Bet its a bit of a pain remembering to put all the drops in but I am sure that will be over with soon enough. My mom's surgery was also same day and she was really able to do what she wanted the next day. She just had to stay a bit quiet the day of the procedure. Let us know if you find any good recipes in the cookbook you found. And I hope your weather breaks soon. It has indeed been a long hot summer.
Ruth, I would be happy to send you some seeds. Each silver dollar usually contains 2 to 3 flat seeds, and sometimes I collect them (as I did this year).
Watched a movie last night with Dh and Dd...got some crocheting done while watching. Dd will return to school sometime today. Its been so nice having her home.
Hi to CJ and Phyl. Hope each of you has a great day. ginny

good morning, I am doing fine. still have pain In the right hip at times. nothing like it was when this all started. usually when I first get up. usually bugs meat 3 am. just let me sleep please.
saturday jeana took us out on the pontoon. we went out in the am. was a little cool. holiday weekends and other weekends they like to go out in the am. get off the river before the drinkers get on the river. sounds like some boaters are as rude as car drivers. makes her mad how boaters just throw stuff into our rivers.
we were on what they call the black river. which is really part of the Mississippi.
today we are suppose to go out again. it will be cool. for now it looks like we might get rain. I need to go shopping for a summer pair of slacks. mine are fall and winter.
please say prayers for my delona, her dad and mom. dad went home to the lord saturday afternoon. delona is an only child so she has a lot to do. she asks mom questions on the funeral and mom says you do it you know what to do. mom is in shock. pops (I call him) has been ready to go for a couple of years. the last month he been declining fast.
delona has been trying to get them to go to a senior living place. maybe mom will consider it. she is 94 and dad was 97 delona has seen there are issues with mom for the past few months.
thank you all for your prayers. enjoy today. phyl

PHyl, I will definitely be praying for Delona and her family. It looks like her dad lived a nice long life and it's sad about her mother declining. It's the way of life I guess but we don't have to like it but have no choice but to accept it. You are a good caring person and I know Delona appreciates your friendship
Ginny, 10 people have already read this thread you put up today and last week it was 385 or so for the week. Some of those are from us coming in to post I think but there are people that just like to read interesting looking threads and I know of one woman who definitely reads this thread but doesn't post. I often read some of the others too but I only post on three and one of those is a once a week thread.
YOu ladies would love it here today, it's really cold. However the smoke is horrible and they've advised everyone but esp those with respiratory problems to stay indoors. Yesterday I couldn't even see the mountain from here and it's close. Luckily it's windy so it's blowing some of the smoke away but then again the wind is bad for fires. The fires aren't close to us but still who wants fires to be out of control.
I've collected a lot of my marigold seeds at the end of the year but last year when I planted the seeds they didn't do well so this year I bought seeds and they didn't do well either so I think it's the soil I used. I didn't even realize how many of the seeds I had from my own plants. It's funny too that when I used the seeds from my plants, the flowers were different than the originals.Anyway thank you so much. I'll send you my address
Today is the day to clean the dining room. I have two china cabinets in there I need to dust shelves and wash the glass and also the floor to ceiling windows that are the width of the room. I also need to do the sills which are wide and are used for some of our prettier rocks that we've collected so need to dust those too. I did get the table cleared off. We don't really ever eat there so it's used for fabric cutting and "collecting" "stuff" With company we need to have someplace to sit and eat.We took a few things out to our storage shed which, amazingly, is not anywhere near full.
I didn't make much progress on the baby blanket yesterday. I was working on it and finally actually looked at it and I had done something wrong at the sides so had to take out most of what I had done and do it over so,that will be this evening after work is done. I forgot that today is a holiday
Well better get the show on the road as they say so will see you all later. Have a fantastic day everyone
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Good afternoon,
Phyl, I will absolutely remember Delona and her mom at this very difficult time. Indeed it will be rough for both of them but especially Delona as she is facing the loss of her dad and also what to do with her mom. When my mom passed the funeral home was wonderful- taking care of many details for me. I am sure that having a good friend like you will be of great comfort to Delona. Funny thing about your hip- mine can be pretty much pain free all day and then act up in the middle of the night too! I do pray that yours calms down and that you can get the sleep you need.
Ruth, well what happened with your marigolds is that the original seeds were hybrids, and the seeds collected from the flowers reverted back to the original non hybrid. Indeed I would have loved your weather-but it was not too bad here in NY today. You know I forgot you can see how many have read the thread....lurking is just not something I would do. I admit to lurking very occasionally on a political thread on the old WW site, but they were nasty there so I never posted. Glad you got a lot of cleaning done. It sure feels good, doesn't it?
Went for a hike this am- then came back and had lunch before Dd returned to school. Prayers for her would be appreciated, this semester looks to be very difficult.. After she left I almost finished the small bedroom- its not perfect but I have gotten rid of a ton of stuff- and another small pile will go out for Big Brothers Big sisters on Wednesday. Yes, that darned Homespun yarn is in that pile. I also got some of my limited fall decor up- I love fall colors.
Hope everyone gets a few minutes in to craft today....or at least think about it. Take care and Hi to Meg and CJ Ginny

Thank you for the info, Ginny. I had thought that might be the case with the seeds I guess I'll just buy seeds from now on and not use my marigolds over again I've put away some yarn that was here in the living room. Does that count as crafting? And I straightened up my craft room some more. Your dd is on my prayer list. I'm not much of a lurker but I do "lurk" sometimes. When I have nothing to do I read some of the threads that look interesting. Most people on those threads don't mind if you read or stop in to say hello.I don't think there's any threads right now where the people are excusivists like on the old WW board. Funny thing on the old board was I stopped in on a thread there and everyone acted as though I was intruding and it actually was a thread that I had started there a few years ago but I had too much going on and left it to be run by another woman so thought I'd stop in and say hello but although I was told by some "welcome to the thread" it soon became apparent that the rest of the people there thought it was their private thread and didn't welcome "strangers" The really great thing about this board is that Deb and the rest of the adms do not put up with people verbally abusing others.

Hello Crafters Phyl - I will keep Delona and her mother in my thoughts and prayers. It's so difficult to lose a parent and then she has to deal with all the arrangements alone, that is very stressful. We were very fortunate with the funeral home that dealt with my father after he died, they were excellent. Also a lot of pre-planning had been done before his death, and that helped us too. I'm sorry you are still having hip pain, but glad it's a little better. Ginny - I hope your daughter will do well in school this year, I'm sure it's tough with difficult classes. It was nice that you were able to get out and hike today and enjoy the holiday. Ruth - Sounds like the house cleaning is coming along, I'm sure you'll get everything ready for your family when they visit. That smoke sounds terrible, I hope it goes away soon. Meg - I hope your eye is continuing to heal so you can do some crafting again. I watched some videos today on hand quilting and embroidery, so that's my crafting for the day I have to go out tomorrow and do some errands and then when I get back I'm going to see about getting my car looked at to see if I need a new battery. I hope that's all it is. Take care everyone!

CJ, I do hope all you need is a new battery. Such a simple fix would be much better and although batteries aren't cheap they sure are cheaper than a lot of other repairs.
I got almost one row of my blanket done today but I got a while bunch of other things done so I'm happy and I'll be crocheting this evening..well it's evening already so I should say the rest of the evening.
I'll check back later to see if Meg stopped in.

Good morning!
CJ- indeed, I do hope that all your car needs is a new battery...an easy fix! Are you able to get it jump started to get to a service station? Of course those videos count as crafting, if we do not check out crafting sites and watch videos, how will we get new ideas?
Ruth, of course putting that yarn away counts as crafting! Indeed there were some very judgemental types on the old WW boards- I was blasted by a thread for having 3 miscarriages in a row (like I wanted to miscarry 3 times). Believe it or not I was accused of being a baby killer - on a liberal thread. (No i would not consider myself a liberal). Interesting story.
I try not to be judgmental about things....especially when it pertains to crafting. So anything- even cleaning our craft area, organizing supplies etc....counts as crafting. I figure if you are putting craft items away, or just even checking out Pinterest it involves looking at crafting or supplies.....and I know I have gotten inspiration just from looking at my "stash".
Slept awfully last night. Got up at 5:30 and went for my walk to try to swing my body back into the early am routine. We have the grandkids today, so it will be a busy day.
Hi to Phyl and Meg. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm happy to hear you have started a new project, you are really inspirational with your energy! Ginny - I feel for you getting up so early. I've always been a night owl and when I was working those mornings were tough. Hope you enjoyed the day with the kids. And yes, you do need to buy fabric during National Sewing Month Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting and feeling well. One of my LQS put out their Fall classes schedule and they have the machine quilting class in daytime again so I really want to take it. It's a 2 session class and they go over marking the quilt, using the walking foot and free motion foot, etc. I think it would be good to take my new machine there and get whatever tips I can. I hope I can take another class there too this Fall. I'm sitting here waiting for AAA to come and check my battery voltage. If it's O.K., then I'll get an appointment to check the Alternator. The car does start, so the battery is definitely not dead. Fortunately I have another car to use. But I know it's getting to be time to get a new car - I just don't really like any models that are out there right now. Oh well, I'll figure it out eventually. It's a hot day here and then it's supposed to get cooler again. Hope the weather isn't too bad where you all are. Take care everyone!

Good morning all. It's just barely morning here...15 more minutes
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear you had such a poor sleep last night. I'm trying to adjust my waking time too because I know my guests will be up earlier than I usually get up and I don't want to miss time with them and don't want them to feel that they can't walk freely around the house. The kitchen is over the bedroom so I know they'd stay out of there so they wouldn't "disturb" us. I made it two days of getting up earlier but this morning I fell back to sleep.
Ginny, that is so horrible that anyone would say anything like that to someone who had suffered miscarriages. That has to be a very evil person to do that. I would think that anyone who heard of someone's loss like that would be extremely empathetic not mean and uncaring.Don't they realize that that is the death of a child??? How in the world could YOU have been to blame for that loss. I'm sure you were devastated.
It's not only liberals who say mean things to others at a time when they should be lending support. I have a friend who lost a child who was a young adult at the time. One woman who is a conservative said mean things to her about her child's death. So despite the political views there are people who are just plain mean and hateful. If a person has animosity against another for their political views there's no way they should use a personal disaster to hurt that other person. in fact why try to hurt another person at all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion even if we do think they are wrong.I have a tendency to fight back when someone does something hurtful or says something hurtful to me or a friend or family member. That's not right either of course but I've been known to do it but I would never, ever use something like a death or other personal loss as a weapon.
I do have good friends who are liberals or "progressives". I don't agree with their political ideas but, as I said, we are all entitled to believe in our own way about political issues. There are also many other issues that people support that I don't believe the same about but I still consider some of those people friends also and don't keep hitting people on the head with my opinion on those beliefs...sure won't go into them here
CJ, that class sounds like it will be excellent. I'd go to one like that too if I had a new machine and a class like that was available and it was during the day.

CJ, I meant to say also that if you have a Auto Zone store you can go there and they'll test battery and alternator for you for free. I'd still get a second opinion though because sometimes you just can't trust people to tell the truth if they want to make money.

Hello everyone, It is cooler here today but I think it feels humid which I don't like. We are going to have a few days in the 8os. I have not done any crafting but I will get busy. I took Devin to school today and then I went to the store. So I was able to see to drive OK. I will be glad whren I can go and get my new glasses which will be near the end of this month. My DGD who lives in Florida phoned this morning she was getting prepared for the storm coming in. Later her DH called and he said that this hurricane coming in is the highest one on record, it's a 5. I think after they move important things up stairs and board the windows up they will move up to Georgia where his parents live. They live further in land. They have a brand new house that they bought
cj, I am glad you are back in action.ught about 16 months ago.
cj,
I hope you don't have to spend acar isin good shape as I don't like having to lot of money on car repairs. I like to know that my
Ginny, sorry you didn't sleep well. I guess the change in your routine is on your mind, I stay up late and would like to sleep in the morning, I would like to go to bed earlier and get up earlier in the morning. Of course when I go to bed earlier I sleep for a couple of hours and then I am back up again.
cj, I hope you don't have to spend a lot of money on car repairs. I hope my car is in good shape as I don't like having to spend a lot of money on repairs. I want it to start when I am ready to go.
Sorry I have to go I will check back later.

Good morning!!
Just a comment on National Sewing Month- Missouri Stat quilts is having a sale on all quilt kits....ok- I do not need more fabric or stuff to do.....but I might find something pretty!
CJ- hope AA gets there to check the battery. You can also open the battery yourself (pry open the water cylinders with a screw driver) and see if there is fluid in them. Sometimes just adding a bit of water (if the cylinders have gone dry) will do the trick and get more time out of your battery. Hope they get there soon....sounds like you are stuck housebound. that class sounds perfect for you! Hope that you can sign up for it- I am sure you will learn a lot and get some great tips.
Ruth- there are insensitive louts on both sides of the aisle. THe rabid monster who made the horrible comments actually, eventually got herself thrown off for being such an obnoxious and mean spirited person. I know of someone else on the conservative thread here who used to battle with this person constantly- She also was known to make new screen names for herself so she could be incognito until her nasty writing style gave her away. Glad you are able to shift your schedule a bit in anticipation of company. I have the reverse problem, when company is here lots of times they want to stay up late and chat. That does not work when you wake up at 4:30 am. Your company arrives this weekend? How long will they be staying?
Meg, sure sounds like you are getting out and about like normal now. The end of the month will be here soon enough and you can get your new glasses. I will pray for DGD and her home- that everyone stays safe and out of harms way. This looks like one monster storm.
I have a fair amount of family and friends in Florida. Also a dear friend in coastal SC.
Survived today, the first am of school. No big problems.....now just have to learn kids names and get in the swing of things.
I slept ok- will have to get used to my new schedule of getting to bed a little earlier.
Hi To Phyl- who I hope is feeling well. GInny

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad you survived the first school morning, hope you have a good group of riders this year and that you adjust to the new sleeping schedule quickly. Ruth - Sounds like you are getting excited for your family to get there, I'm excited for you too. Meg - I'm glad your vision is getting better, and that you'll get your new glasses before much longer. It's also nice that you're getting some cooler weather. Phyl - I hope you are feeling better today. The battery in my car did have a low voltage, but I decided not to put a new one in yet in case the real problem is the alternator (which is likely). So I have an appointment with my regular mechanic next week to have the car looked at. I'm fortunate to have the other car to drive, it was my father's and he left it to me. I just can't drive it when it's raining because somewhere it leaks into the trunk. I don't have a garage to put it in so I put a cover on it when we have rain. Fortunately I don't have anywhere I have to be so it all works out. I finally did some quilting today. I pieced together a quilt top that I had bought with fabrics in a layer cake (10 inch fabric pieces). I only used 36 of the 42 squares, so it made an odd size quilt top (57x57), but at least it's together. Here's the fabric line, a pretty floral: www.thequiltedcastle.com/Julias-Garden-28-Fat-Quarter-Set-Deborah-Edwards-NorthcottI struggled with how to lay this quilt out and finally came up with a nine patch look by placing the similar florals together. It looks O.K., not my favorite quilt top but something I can have fun quilting. I'm hoping to get on my new machine this afternoon and do some free motion quilting on a fat quarter I have - just to test it out. It's a cloudy, rainy day here so a nice day to be in my sewing room. Take care everyone!
