Good morning!
Today is our babysitting day....so its a busy day for me. Got DGD to preschool and DGS in for his nap, so I have a few minutes to myself. We will have the kids again tomorrow...so its just another busy week.
I have heard from everyone I care about in Florida and they are all fine. Some without power (but they have a generator), but no major damage. I am very thankful.
Might have to go to a wake tonight. A friend of Dd #1 lost her father in law.....that friend is a very sweet young woman who has been so kind to my family. I did not know her father in law, but might go out of respect of for her.

I forgot that it's a new week already. I got up early to see ds and dgd off to Yellowstone then took a nap so now I'm feeling groggy. I hate taking naps
Ginny, it does sound like another busy week for you but enjoy the grandchildren. Before you know it they'll be grown. Last night i was crocheting while dgd was doing something on her computer and she asked me if I would teach her how to purl. I guess the girl that taught them to knit didn't teach them how to purl. She does the cast on a very nice way so when they get back I have to have her show me again. She showed me a couple times but then when I did it I didn't do it correctly I don't think. So I was teaching her and she was also teaching me. It was fun but then she had to go and get things ready for their trip today.
Happy new week to all of you.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm happy to hear everyone in FL is O.K. Hope you enjoy the time with the grandkids. Meg - Hope you enjoyed your book and were able to get more crocheting done. Phyl - Hope you get your playpen cleaned. Ruth - Sounds like you are already enjoying the time with your DGD, how wonderful for you to get to craft together. I did start the granny square blanket last night, that really goes quickly since it's so repetitive. I enjoy a pattern that's easy so I don't have to think too much and can just enjoy the process. Take care everyone!

hi, well the table and sewing machine cabinet got cleaned off. now the cabinet top is a mess again. I started going through the sewing chest drawers. what was I thinking? didn't find to many treasures. one drawer had a lot of plastic bags for when I to put one in as a trash can liner. how can a drawer hold so many bags. they are gone now.
decided to stop for the day. phyl

CJ, I thought the baby blanket I'm working on now would go like that but somehow it didn't but now I'm back on track.. It's just a matter of getting the fingers in the habit. I could mess up a granny square too but forgetting one of the stitches. Phyl, that's what always happens to me too. I clean something off and it right away becomes cluttered again. Now that I have the rest of my house in order I want to keep it that way and after I organizee the garage I'm going to see if there's something different I can do with MY playpen. I can't wait till ds and dgd get back so that I can show her some of the bracelets I crocheted. With the knitting she wants to start with a hat. I'm not sure that's a good idea but when my dh suggested that maybe she should start with a dishcloth she looked like that was about the last thing she would want to do. So I'll help her with the hat. It will be a flat one and seamed and be a slouchy hat. Now I just have to learn how to seam nicely before they get back here although she probably won't have it done by the time they leave if ds has activities planned for them and I think he does. ok, I'm going to go look for a youtube about seaming and that casting on method dgd does so well. She's super good at that. Holds the yarn and needles well but in knitting and purling she does need to learn to hold the needles better. I don't want to discourage her but I also don't want her to get discouraged because her things turn out uneven. Tomorrow before they get home I need to wrap her birthday presents

Hello Phyl, cj, Ruth & Ginny,
I have been on the go today. I went to lunch with some ladies from church. It was good to get out. Then back home to pick Devin up from school. At least I didn't have to cook dinner. I just sent my niece in England long e-mail. She wanted to know about my DGD in Florida. Though I think she is in Georgia with her in laws. Irma has been following her, I did talk to her on Saturday.
I sis work on the border of my b/blanket last evening. I am not sure whether I will work on it this evening. I may just decide to read.
Ruth, I was thinking that your DGD was a little girl but she is 16 and I am sure you enjoy talking to her and hearing all about her friends. I was teaching my niece in N. Ireland how to knit and started her on dish cloths. She was much younger then and she probably doesn't have time to knit these days as she is going to college and has an active social life.
Ginny, I am glad you have heard from all your family in Florida and that they are all fine. It is good that they have a generator. My DGD & her DH have talked about buying one. Enjoy your DG/ kids tomorrow. Hope you find time to relax.
cj, I am glad you are enjoying crocheting a big granny SQ. I like something that I can work on without having yto follow a pattern too much.
Have a wonderful evening.
Phyl, I am sure you will enjoy your clean playroom. Have fun.

Meg, it's good to see you. I'm glad you got out with friends and had an enjoyable time. It's great too that you didn't have to cook dinner. Yes my grandchildren are all growing up so fast. I bet you feel the same about yours...that it seems like only yesterday that your two grandaughters were little.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - Glad you got some things cleared out, hopefully you can work on some more today. Ruth - I hope you find some good videos on sewing seams, that sounds like a good way to knit a hat for a beginner. I'm sure you're anxious for them to get back so you can work on the crafts some more. Meg - I hope your DGD is O.K. and her property too. Hope you got some more work in on your blanket. Ginny - Hope you are doing well and finding some time for some crafting. I did more crocheting on the blanket while I was waiting at the mechanic's shop for my car today. I did have to get a new alternator, and hopefully that has solved the problems. Take care everyone!

Hello CJ and all who stop in later. It's a very hot day here today but starting tomorrow it will be significantly cooler esp on the weekend when temps in the night will get down in 30's. Ds and dgd went to the park early this week because Thursday night there it's to get down to 21 and snow. They had originally planned to leave here on Wed to go to Yellowstone. It's at a much higher elevation than we are here. We're a little over a mile high here. there they get to well over 10,000
Ds emailed last night to say they arrived safely so I'm praying today goes well too. I'm not sure if they're coming back tonight or tomorrow. Dh told them they should spend two full days in the park itself but ds looked online at a Yellowstone guide and the narrator said it takes only one day. Well we were there back in 1990 and even we stayed two days. Seems a shame to come way out here then drive all the way to hte park and only spend one day in the park itself. Yesterday on the way there they stopped in a town called Thermopolis where there is a hot spring so they swam then went on later
dh just got up from nap so will stop in later s

Good evening!
Well the past 48 hours has sort of blown up in my face- nothing bad just busy. I will try to catch up-
Ruth, glad the family made it to Yellowstone- I assume the car ran fine and that they have good weather.
Meg, how is your eye doing? Glad you have spoken to DGD and she is ok. My SIL and BIL got a pricey generator- she needs airconditioning for her COPD. Glad you were able to get out with friends for lunch!
Phyl- is the playpen all cleaned up? Indeed that is one of those projects that can become overwhelming, especially if you do not plan on getting rid of much. THen the challenge is figuring out how to store everything.....
CJ- sorry that the car needed an alternator, but well at least it is fixed now! GLad you got some crocheting time in.
Got to the viewing last night....and today we babysat. BUsy day. NO time to crochet, that is for sure.
Hope everyone has a good night! Ginny

Ginny, yes it does sound like you had a couple very busy days. Caring for two small children really keeps a person on their toes.
CJ, I hope your car will function properly now that it has a new alternator. It's great to have a car that's reliable.
Ds and dgd will be back tonight sometime. I don't know what their plans are for the rest of their visit. I imagine some sight seeing around here closer to home and ds is also going to check out our refrigerator that died after only 14 months and see if there's anything he can do to fix it. Medical equipment repair including refrigerators is just one of the fields he was trained in courtesy of Uncle Sam.
I made meatballs yesterday for meatball sandwiches. Well the meatballs turned out great and held together well until I put them in the sauce and cooked some more then about half of them disintegrated but I had made a lot so there's still plenty for sandwiches so we'll have them tomorrow.Never made them before and when I make sauce for spaghetti I usually just put the meat right in the sauce and don't bother with meatballs. So this could actually be used for spaghetti instead but we have rolls so sandwiches sound good.

I've been on a searching mission again yesterday and today. I had a little container I put all my crochet bracelets in and I wanted to show them to dgd but wherever I put them at the last minute remains a mystery. I still haven't found them. I guess I'll be finishing them after she leaves and mailing them. I know I put them someplace "I could find them" but where that place is I have no idea.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Sorry to hear life has been so busy, hope it calms down soon. Ruth - I hope you find the bracelets to show your DGD. The meatballs and sauce sound good. I haven't had a good meatball sub in many, many years. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are busy crafting. I haven't done any crafting today, just relaxing and reading a book. I'll be testing out the car tomorrow since I need to go somewhere. Hopefully everything is fine with it. Take care everyone!
