Happy Saturday!
Ruth, not sure whose story is better, mine putting my daughters wedding rings in with my crochet hooks or your bracelets pretty much in plain sight- just conveniently hidden. (Or not so conveniently hidden). the story about getting locked out of amazon is interesting and must have been mightily frustrating for you and Dh at the time. Glad that you were able to resolve that after a lot of effort. I wonder with all this online stuff....bill paying, shopping....well its crazy convenient when it works but absolutely miserable when you encounter difficulties like that.
Meg, how was knit wits? Good to hear that your weather is cooling down a lot and the heat is not so oppressive. Congrats on finishing the baby blanket. May I ask what size you make? I make smaller afghans for newborns- as in the one I am working on for my grandchild to be, knowing that they do not even recommend blankets on babies anymore. Hey, good reading time is good too.....
Hi to CJ and Phyl. I am heading out front to clean up a garden a little bit- its supposed to be hot today so while it is cool its a good time to take care of that. Ginny

Good morning all. It's only 50 degrees here today and it's very cloudy and overcast. I would guess there's snow on the mountain but it's so cloudy that you can't see the mountain.
I make my baby blankets small too for that very reason. They don't recommend blankets in a crib and there are so many people now that have their infants sleep right with them...bad idea in my opinion but just my opinion. so I make the blankets the size for putting over the baby in a car seat. The larger ones are good for babies after they get older or for using as an underpad to lay the baby on on the floor to play with those things you put over baby so he can wave little arms at the hanging toys.
I was so tired last night after only getting a few hours sleep the night before because of the Amazon fiasco that I went to bed early last night.I was reading and fell asleep right while reading my book sitting upright on the couch so off to bed I went.
Yes, Ginny, I still can't believe that container was sitting right there for almost two weeks and I didn't notice it. I spent a lot of time searching. As I said, the same thing has happened before. Putting your dd's rings in with the crochet hooks sounds like something I would do and then forget doing.
I haven't done any crafting..well except for ordering that yarn and looking at patterns online since ds and dgd left so I'll get busy today and do some. Another dgd's birthday is coming up. Ddil says Lily is a girly girl and likes girly things such as jewelry, pretty hair things, etc so I'll have to figure out some things to get and also some to make. She will be 11 on her birthday which is in early November and here it is almost October already. She's the one that first requested a shawl.
Oh Ginny, I meant to say that I've used charts online for hat sizes and not too long ago looked up one for hand and wrist sizes for various ages. So you're right in that I could find average sizes for various age children so that I could make those snuggies. Thanks for that reminder.

CJ- so sorry your post got kicked out...of course it happens to all of us one time or another. How are you feeling?
Ruth, love those bracelets...and am so glad you found them.
Got a few minutes of crocheting in before I went out to do some gardening. I know many love to work in the soil. For me its frustrating. Weeds always come back and nothing ever stays the way I like it. And it got too hot to work out there.
Unfortunately, I am in for warmer weather for a few days. Yuck.
Have a good day Ginny

Ginny, I could use a little of that heat that you have there. It's down to 43 here right now and still overcast and damp I still haven't gotten any crafting done..well except looking for clasps for my crocheted bracelets online. I think that counts too After that I tried to program the new remote they sent us. I usually am pretty good with doing those things but it didn't work. A tech is coming on Monday anyway to tighten the dish so he can program the remote while he's here. When they sent the remote they sent me an email with instructions which are entirely different than the ones that come up on the tv and the choices they said to make in email aren't even choices on the tv when you go to where they instruct you to go. I'll look it up again in a minute online to see what they say there. Then helped dh with his Amazon order because he didn't think they had it right...long story but they did. Oh and I went out and picked all the tomatoes since it will definitely freeze tonight.

Well I was going to go to my tv service's site but instead did a search for how to program my remote to my tv. They gave a code that was not listed on the list that came up on my tv. I tried that code and it immediately worked. Thanks to wrong info my tv service provided I wasted a couple hours for nothing. Oh well, I have lots of time.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Yesterday I had typed that I was going to a quilt show today.
My sister-in-law and I had a great time at the quilt show. There were some beautiful quilts - mostly all in the traditional style - not a lot of modern quilts. There were only a few vendors and not many people at the show. While that was nice for us to move around, we feel bad for the guilds and hope they make some money.
My sister-in-law found a lap size hand quilted quilt that they were selling for $10 - she grabbed that up quick. I bought some fabric at their guild table and then one other piece at one of the vendors tables. I'm trying not to buy too much, I just don't need it.
My mouth is feeling better and the sutures have been coming out, so I hope it's healing up well.
Take care everyone!

Good morning,
Ruth, well that is sure frustrating that you had to spend so much time using bad directions. Very frustrating indeed. Guess the good news of it all is that you were eventually- given the right set of instructions and code- able to get the remote programmed. But I am sure it was annoying for you .And of course looking for clasps for the bracelets counts as crafting!! Gee, I could use some of your cooler air here.Right now it is pleasant but we are going into the high 80's for 2 days. Yuck.
CJ- that is quite a deal getting a hand made lap quilt for $10! That does not even cover the cost of the materials. Congrats on showing restraint there and not going nuts. It sounds like it was a really nice quilt show, just poorly attended for some reason. So good to hear that your mouth is healing well. Was the tooth bothering you for a long time?
We were out late last night with friends- having gone to a concert and dinner. Pleasant evening. I still got up pretty early, and so am running on a sleep deficit. Yesterday I did get a few minutes in of crochet time and I made some soap. I have the soap base (which is really already soap) here, and am out of "pretty" soap. So I added some ground apricot pits and favorite essential oils to make my own concoction. Easy crafting....but also good as it uses up a bit of what I have stored here, and of course I will use the soap.
Hi to Meg and Phyl- Ginny

good happy sunday morning,. how is everyone today. yesterday was at sit and sew. we made 100 pillowslips for hurricane relief.there were 16 of us. there were drawings. I won the first 20 dollar certificate to the quilt shop. mayjo won the last one. have to think about what I might use it for. don't buy to much from this one. course don't buy to much from either of the two. depends what I m looking for.
just before starting supper last night jeana called. she wanted to know if we wanted to go eat. we will help with the dogs wednesday thru Friday. well bailey and the cats. we went to a place called billy blizzards. it is a cajun and southern fried place. not to ww friendly. I ordered the greek grilled chicken salad. for a appittezer jeana ordered some deep fried armilado balls. they taste like chicken. I did pick out the japlenos. think mine had more jalpenos in it then anyone elses.
my dsil I love her alot. however she is making a big deal out of a favor she asked me to do. when we went to rochester to get the machine she asked me to pick up 3 project bags for her. she wants to give them as Christmas gifts. they are clear, trimmed in pink, green and red. she wants me to exchange the pink one if we go to Rochester. have no plans on going. think the blue was the color they were out of at the time. so I will call and see if they will exchange it. the sales slip says sales are final.
she lives 75 miles from her and we just haven't gotten together. Itphyl is just a damn bag that she is going to give away!!!

Phyl, how frustrating, especially for a favor that you did for her.. She might be a really nice person, and obviously does not in this instance see the possible inconvenience she is causing you. What a shame. Congrats on winning the gift certificate to the quilt shop.. gee, can you use needles or rotary blades.....stuff like that? I know, $20 is not enough to finance a whole project but perhaps you can find a good way to use the gift without having to add more money to it.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I had been having some pain under the crown of this tooth and thought maybe I needed a root canal but they said it was decay causing the infection and pain and they recommended taking off the crown and pulling the tooth. Later on I'll have to get a dental implant. Your soap sounds interesting, sounds like you enjoyed making it. Phyl - I admire your making those pillowcases for others, and congratulations on winning a prize. Ruth and Meg - Hope you are both doing well and getting in some crafting. It's hot here today but we'll be back in the 70s by the end of the week - I can't wait. I washed and dried the fabric I bought yesterday at the guild table because it had a strong smell (I'm guessing from wherever it was stored). Even after washing I could still smell something. I folded it up and put it away in a room to hopefully air out - I didn't want to put it with my other fabrics. I have a jelly roll of fabric that has 1930s prints and I've been looking around on the Internet for an easy pattern to use them with. I've found a few and hopefully this week I can make the quilt top. Take care everyone!

CJ, what a great deal your sil got on that quilt. I would have bought it too.I sure wouldn't be able to resist buying something like that. And congrats on passing on buying too much fabric. It had to be a huge temptation to buy even though you don't really need it. Also I'm glad to hear that your extraction and grafted site is healing well
Ginny, it sounds like you had a great time last night. It's so enjoyable to be with people you like and doing things you like.
Phyl, it sounds like you have been as busy as ever.
Dh just came up so I'll bbl to reply to other things
Phyl, southern fried food sounds delicious but as you said, not ww friendly. It sounds like you made a good healthy choice though. Now your sil sounds like she doesn't think things thru. I'd just go ahead and tell her that I didn't have any plans for going to Rochester any time soon so she'll have to use the bags you already got her.
CJ, I hope the odor dissipates from your fabric. Sometimes when we order online things come with an odor but they're always gone away luckily.
It's still cold here and I still can't see the mountain because of clouds but I'm sure there's got to be snow up there. It got really cold during the night.
Ok going to go do some things. See you all later.
Meg, I hope you're having a good day
