We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

I love the way Jimmy Kimmel is fighting back against the hypocrisy of Cassidy-Graham.
I will be gone all day. Going out of town to a Volley Ball Tourney today & then again tomorrow.
It's a cool, cloudy windy Fall Day here. It wants to rain but can't quite spit it out.
Have a sunny day ...

As for Jimmy Kimmel, previously I never thought much about him one way or the other. I knew he was a good comedian, but I didn't normally watch his show. However, now he has become someone I admire. It would be far easier for him to just let the healthcare issue go. He can afford the treatment needed for his family. He could easily just go on with his life, not be concerned about the rest of us, do his nightly comedy routine, sit back and take life easy. Instead he has chosen to stand up and be counted. To use his name recognition and his considerable platform to voice the need for healthcare coverage for every American, the hypocrisy of Senators such as Cassidy and Graham, and the disaster this current proposed bill would create for not his family but for so many others who don't have his resources. I applaud him for that.

"I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal," -- John McCain
Go Senator McCain! We're beginning to see glimpses of the man many once thought you were. Let's hope that in your own adversity you are finding that man again.

Just stopping by to wave hello. Yesterday my mom got really sick again with a UTI. Don't know if this was a new one or she never really recovered from the last one. Anyway it was a late afternoon busy trying to get prescriptions, etc. Then during the night had to call the on-call doctor for pain medication approval. So I was dreading what today might bring, but knocking on wood she is a little better today than late yesterday and last night. Last night I thought it would be a miracle if we made it through the weekend without a trip to the ER and possibly hospitalization, but today I think we just might make it if I keep my fingers and toes all crossed. Hope you are all having a good weekend! The JA hasn't goaded North Korea into launching a bomb yet, so I'm taking that as a good omen.

Checking in for Sunday. All is well in my corner of the world, and hope it's the same in each of yours. My mom is continuing to show improvement from Friday, and I am starting to breath a sigh of relief. Step-son #2 and family are coming for a pizza lunch, so we'll get to spend time with our youngest grandson Tyler who is 18 months now and a real cutie. He can brighten any day.
I'm very concerned about the way the JA is stirring the racial cauldron. I don't think he really cares about any of the issues one way or the other, but he wants to keep that rabid base frothing at the mouth and chanting his name in adulation as their champion. Remind you of anyone from history?

JA is bound & determine to break this great country one way or another with his arrogance & racist views. Once again demonstrating he doesn't know or respect the Constitution & the right to protest peacefully. I think he really stepped in it with his his "son of a Bitch" comment but he could care less because all he wants is to stir up trouble to deflect for his own damn criminal behavior. His own behavior & words demonstrate he is the one who is not patriotic & quite honestly is a traitor to his own country. I have so many thoughts swirling in my head on this Sports controversy that I doubt I could type them to make sense. But hope everyone takes a knee today in opposition to the JA in the Oval Office!

........."In a stunning display of hypocrisy from Donald Trump’s inner circle, son-in-law and presidential advisor Jared Kushner was just discovered to have been using a private email server to conduct White House business.
POLITICO has “seen and verified” over a dozen emails from Kushner’s private email account to other “senior White House officials, outside advisers and others about media coverage, event planning and other subjects.”
Those officials and advisors include senior White House staff like former chief of staff Reince Priebus, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, Gary Cohn, and spokesman Josh Raffel, indicating that serious business and potentially classified information was being discussed in these emails.
This normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but Donald Trump made the issue of Hillary Clinton’s private email server that she used in her time as Secretary of State one of the central platforms of his campaign, demanding that she be arrested and tried for her potential mishandling of state secrets.
For his own son-in-law to then use a private email account for official business is the height of hypocrisy and a further demonstration of the fact that Republicans have nothing even resembling a sense of shame, happily pillorying one of our nation’s most accomplished political figures over her legal use of a private email server and then doing the same thing after regulations against it have been put in place."..........verified politics.com

My heart is heavy & I'm almost close to tears reading comments on my FB feed from people I thought I knew but who are saying things I thought would never come out of their mouths over this latest NFL/NBA controversy ...I know most of these people are Trump supporters, but I certainly never thought there were undertones of racism running ramped in my rural community. Guess JA "sons of bitches" comment freed them to express what they really think & feel. Oh, my! What narrow minded, self righteous, judgemental people are speaking their mind & supporting the JA. They are so "outraged" they will never watch football again. ( ya, sure, until they win the next football pool or throw their impressive Super Bowl Party"...Nobody wants to stop & think why these players are taking a knee. One certainly doesn't have to agree, but at least understand this did not start out as disrespect for the flag & country. One player decided to use his right to peacefully & quietly protest the way blacks are still treated in this country. He knew the consequences of his actions would affect his career but he chose to still to it anyway all the while donating $millions to help the black community. He's not playing now because of his taking a knee & he still believes what he believes. No regrets. But then our JA in the Oval Office decides to take his own racism one step further & now we have neighbors & friends once again divided. JA had 5 deferments so I think that says enough about his patriotism. Or the fact Melania has to nudge him to put his hand over his heart, yup, sure, one great guy!...not! I stand when the anthem is played, I place my hand over my heart, etc and at the same time I try not to judge those who don't for whatever their reasons are. My skin is not black or brown & I have never lived in a city where there is a huge racial divide so I take the football/ basketball players at their word that they know best what they are kneeling for. I respect them for taking a quiet peaceful stand for what they believe in. Not sure if this makes sense, but, I am so disappointed in what my neighbors & friends are saying on FB.
