Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I hope you are feeling better soon, colds can just be miserable. Meg - I hope your thumb gets better soon too, I'm sure it's painful. Phyl - Hope things work out with changing your friend's project. Ginny - My tooth had an infection too, and they did say once it was pulled that gets rid of the infection. I'm doing pretty well today. My mouth is still tender, so I've still been doing warm salt water rinses. I've tried to cut back on the Tylenol, since I don't like to take so much medication for several days in a row. It's challenging picking food to eat, so I'll be glad to be able to get back to something a bit harder than the soft food I've been eating. Take care everyone!

Ginny, thanks for starting us again this week.
I've been cooking making split pea with ham soup with potatoes and carrots in it too. It'll be a good hearty soup for this cold weather. I'm also making German potato salad for later today
Ginny, we got some good bargains from Jet because when you first go there they give you 15% off on yiour first three orders but you have to make all three orders in just a few days. This is the first time I've had a problem except for at first when dh ordered a pocket knife and they cancelled the order because they said they would out of stock but dh found they did have them in stock and pointed that out to them. I think I mentioned this before but long story short they ended up giving him that one at the original price. Their receipts are confusing and they have many options for taking more money off. If you order more than one item, with each item you put in the cart more is taken off. you can also opt to not have free returns and they'll take some off and will take some off if you use a debit card. I never use a debit card online though. I doubt that we'll be ordering from them again. Like walmart who owns them, they give free shipping on orders over $35 so if you just want to order a couple things it's going to cost you. I try to always stick with free shipping or very low shipping charges. I've seen some things where the shipping charge is triple or more than the selling price of what you were thinking of buying. I never get from those places.
CJ, yes it takes the mouth so long to heal because it's constantly kept moist. You must be happy to be able to eat more choices now that your's is healed a little bit more.
TV guy hasn't come yet. He called early this morning and said morning was clear if we wanted him to come earlier. I didn't hear that till almost noon but I wouldn't have wanted him to come earlier anyway.

hi, I did get the sewing. family room cleaned. spent most of the day down there. yep that's how bad it was. I Can now see the top of my cabinet and can work, and have a place to lay out The pieces as I go. even the cutting table is cleaned off.
I talked to the store yesterday. she said should be no problem changing the bag as it has not been used. just don't know when we will get up there. we only go to Rochester when we have a reason. now that our friends moved to Stillwater we don't meet them for lunch. might have to make a point to go to stillwater before the snow flies. phyl

Well I sent an email to Jet and told them what happened and that I didn't get what I chose to resolve the missing items. Someone did reply this time and explained and also gave me a $10 credit so I'll at least order something so that I can use the $10. They make out on that because I'm sure I'll order $35 worth to get the "free" shipping.
PHyl, when you mentioned Stillwater I think of Stillwater, Ok. We passed thru there a few time and stopped at a grocery store there. It's a nice town.I know it feels good to have the playpen cleaned up and the table cleared so you can use it to cut out your fabric and lay things out on it. Now can you come over and organize mine.
The reason I mentioned Stillwater is because I used to really like Vernor's ginger ale when I lived in NY. It wasn't available here but I saw it and bought it in the store in Stillwater. I don't know if they sell it in Mn or Wisconsin or wherever you are PHyl. I bet Ginny knows it. They do sell it here now but I don't drink it anymore.

Good evening!
CJ- glad that you are doing better as each day goes on. Hopefully in another day or so you can have some of the crunchy foods that are difficult to eat right after an extraction.
Phyl- well congrats on getting the play pen all straightened up! Sounds like quite an accomplishment. I do hope that you can find a good reason to go to Rochester, in addition to exchanging a bag of fabric. How far a drive is it for you?
Ruth, glad the tv tech got to you....so sorry about that hamburger roll. (I do that all the time). Believe it or not I have not heard of Vernors ginger ale, but will have to check it out and see if I can locate some. Hope your soup came out great.
I have a good friend (who I also met on a WW board) who might stop in to visit us. She is an expert quilter- and my go to person with tough quilting questions. And she is all self taught. Not sure if she will stop in or not- but I thought I would give you all a heads up.
Have a great night. Hi Meg- hope all is well with you Ginny

Hello Ruth, cj, Phyl & Ginny.
I went shopping today for new pants and walked my legs off. so now I am pooped. I started out at Sears then on to Macy's and ended up at J C Penny's. I found one pair of Alfred Dunner's petite short Pants. They had lots of pants but just not in my size. So I came home and ordered another pair of the same pants on line. Sears and Macy's didn't have anything I wanted. So no crafting for me today so far.
Ginny, many thanks for getting up early and starting us on the board for another week.
Phyl. congratulations on getting your play pen organized. I hope you don't have to make a special trip to Rochester.
cj. my thumb is slowly getting less painful it is just a bit bruised. Especially my nail, but I'll live and pay more attention to what I am doing. So what are you going to eat when your mouth is healed and you have your new teeth and can chew again?
Ruth, split soup sounds good save me a bowl. I am glad you had a good repair man to fix your TV. Hope you don't have anymore problems. Now I am off to eat dinner. I haven't had a lot to eat today.
Have a great evening.

Ginny, maybe it's a western Ny thing...the Vernor's that is. It is quite different from regular ginger ale. It's very gingery. I drank the diet kind.I do still like it but it's one of the things that they say will cause bladder pain. I'll actually have to check the ingredient list. I went down to the mailbox today and the seeds had arrived. Thank you so much Ginny. I'll be planting those as soon as I can. I think I need to find a bunch of flowers to plant in the spring and liven up my yard some. I wanted to do that this year but the bladder thing happened and it was just too painful to do anything.
Meg, it wasn't actually the tv that was broke. The satellite dish was loose and when the wind blows like it always does here...sometimes the strenght of a cat1 hurricane... the dish wobbled and the picture broke up. I was thinking of asking him if he would try to program the upstairs remote but the original guy tried and couldn't get the tv to turn off and on with the companies remote so I have to use the tv's remote to turn on and off and the tv service remote for everything else. I also tried many times. I got everything else to work too but not on and off. I'm glad your finger doesn't hurt too much and I hope you'll be able to do all you want to do. I still haven't done any crafting except for looking at patterns.I have to buy some pants too and I think I'll have the same problem you did. I have very short legs and I've lost a bit of weight so I wear a size much smaller than I ever dreamed I'd be able to wear so I have to look around some of the stores here too and try some on then I'll be able to do what you did and order online once I find out what brands fit.
Meg, I got your bowl of soup all ready. Dh added his invitation for you to come over too.
Ginny, that will be great to visit with an expert quilter than you met on the ww board. Have the two of you actually met previous to this too? Did you meet her on a crafting thread? The only crafting thread I went to was Meg's knitting thread which changed to knitting, crocheting and all needlework. I met lots of great people on that thread but none in person I almost met one but as she was traveling their RV blew a tire which did a lot of damage to the electrical system so they had to stop and get it worked on then just went back home

Hello Ruth, cj, Hinny & phyl
Ruth, I was out again this morning. I had an app. to have my vision checked and then I ordered my new glasses. I asked about having cataract surgery. So I have appt. for that in Oct. I would like to have them work on my right eye so that I could see better. Then I went to Hobby Lobby to get some yarn. I am going to make an afghan for my DGD and I already bought some yarn for that project at Hobby Lobby. I love that store and their yarn is displayed so nicely and they have a great selection. But I only got what I needed though I was tempted. I have only been to Hobby Lobby about 3 times because Michaels & Jo Ann's are closer. I think you and your DH would be really surprised if I landed on your door step for a bowl of soup. You seem to have memory better than I have. I don't remember many of the people from my old thread though I do remember you & Phyl and Yvonne but I just don't remember the others.
Ginny, I hope you enjoy meeting with your quilting friend especially if she is an expert quilter who can help you and share her ideas with you, Have a nice visit.
cj, I hope your gums are feeling better and that you can have more solid food.
Hi, Phyl, I hope all is well with you.
Have a good evening.

Hello all. I'm procrastinating. I keep looking at patterns rather than get busy actually making something. Actually I wanted a pattern for a doll carrier basket...like a Moses basket. There doesn't seem to be many free patterns for them online. There's one nice one but it's made with some kind of fabric instead of yarn. I could still use the pattern in a general way but I'd have to make it larger and I'm not sure I know how to do that on the flat bottom...kinda like a flat purse bottom. I guess I could experiement
I also need to get 4 different colors of the same weight yarn out of my stash to make mittens and two of a nice soft worsted weight yarn to make a sweater. Then I still need to get this baby blanket done and some fingerless gloves and more bracelets and finish the bracelets that I still have to connect ends and weave in yarn ends. Better get busy. I also have to fit in my donation items too.
I hope you all had a good day. It was a beautiful one here today but a little on the cool side. It will be up to 70 this weekend though.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of you post. Threads been lonesome all day with no one posting.

Oh Meg, I see you here now. Your message wasn't there when I started typing. I'm kind of confused because I thought that was the surgery you just had...cataract surgery. Do you mean for the other eye? If so shouldn't you wait till after that for new glasses?
I do like Hobby Lobby but it's not close to me either and their yarn is more expensive than some I can buy online. I like when they have sales though and they usually have a coupon for 40% off of one item.
I do remember Yvonne, and there was a woman named Carlene, and Marlene who is on another thread on the over 60's portion of this board. Oh and Wilma that lives in Colorado and there was a woman named Cherie that lived in Seattle that died and I think you made a baby blanket because most people mentioned they were going to make prayer shawls and donate them in her memory and you said you'd make a baby blanket in her memory instead which sounded like a great plan to me. I think there were others too...oh one was Elayne. She lives in Ca and used to try to sell some of her things on Etsy but I don't think she sold much. She was nice then and sent me a few patterns in snail mail. Haven't seen her around since just after this Pro Board started. She started a knitting thread one day and no one went to it so I guess she got discouraged.
Well can't put it off any longer. I have to go on a yarn hunt. See you all later I hope

Good evening!!!
Ruth, glad the seeds got there. I have to say that I should be having a great crop of silver dollars next year, I cleaned up the front a bit the other day (front garden) and found the mother plant, which is huge. I am gathering that this plant will provide lots of silver dollars. Its too bad that your bladder issue kept you from gardening much this year....but I think we all have years like that. All those seed catalogs and pictures look so good when we are snow covered.....and then reality sets in during the spring with some thing or another that keeps us from gardening. For me, sometimes its work or the weather. Aw lets face it, I just do not like to garden all that much, I would much rather read or play with yarn and fabric. Regarding the Moses basket, are you looking to make the whole basket or just a liner for that? And the list of projects you have ahead of you is mind boggling. Oh....2 TV repairs ago the service man did some work - it was ok......but the last guy we had took on all kinds of issues, asked to see each TV we had in the house (even though we were calling about the one) and upgraded all of them. Impressive.
Meg- hope that thumb is improving. Good to hear that you are thinking about getting the other eye done.. and getting new glasses too! Congrats on finding pants that fit you well! Isn't it great that you can order the size you need- it was not too long ago we were limited to store stock only and if they did not have your size you were out of luck. Congrats on gettting some new yarn too. Why is that just so darned satisfying?
My friend- the absolute expert quilter- and I met on the WW board. Actually, with this wedding I am attending this weekend, I had hoped to meet her for the first time face to face, but with the wedding being where it is, I will not be near her enough for me to make it work out . She has her own blog of the magnificent quilting that she does, and she has become a cherished friend over the years. When WW closed the boards we went on to continue our friendship through email.
this week is insane for me. I have worked a lot extra, driving a sports trip this afternoon and grading more papers this am. No time for me to craft.....but I have that nice long car ride this weekend to do that in.
Hi To CJ and Phyl ginny

Ginny, it sounds like the tech that came to your house last went above and beyond. It's great that he updated everything. Did you know they're supposed to upgrade you every two years? I had heard that before but I forgot and read it online last evening. The young man that came here yesterday asked to see all our tvs but he didn't do anything with them. I wondered why he did even that since we had just asked them to send him to tighten up the dish. Now I see he was actually supposed to do more. I guess maybe I was supposed to ask for that service but I'm happy with what I have and don't really want anyone in my bedroom which is where one of the tv's is located.
I hope you have a good time on your trip this weekend. We'll sure miss you posting on here but again, want you to enjoy your trip
I have friends too that I met on WW board that I keep in touch with via email. They're very dear to me even though we've never met in person. I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to meet your friend.
No I'm not fond of doing the actual gardening either but I do like the results. For one thing our soil is like concrete and it's full of rocks so digging in it takes the strength of a stevadore. I'd love it if we had rich workable soil. I think dh is thinking of ordering some topsoil next year but who knows if we'll actually do it or not.
It sounds like you had a very busy day.
I think I read Meg's message wrong. You must have said you asked them about doing the other eye.
Well I did get out the four colors of yarn and started one mitten so we'll see how it turns out. It's the mittens I posted the picture of then found it was an adult pattern. I asked the designer if she had instructions for child size and she said she would put it on her list but that was back in April and no child size pattern has been posted so I'll adjust it myself. Well my list might sound intimidating but you remember that all I have is time...lots of time on my hands.
Meg, do you have a pattern in mind for your dgd's afgan?
Phyl and CJ, I hope you both had a good day...think I said that earlier but it doesn't hurt to say it again

Good morning! Ruth you bring up an excellent point- and this pertains to my email quilting friend also....each of you is dear to me even though we have never met- which is why I become concerned when one of you is unable to check in and we do not know if that person is ok or not. You have been so successful with all your other projects I am confident that adjusting the size to a child size will be no problem for you. It would have been nice if the designer had done that for you, however. Yes, somewhere I knew that Direct TV was supposed to at least check your service every 2 years....and that last tech we had did a lot, I know. I think he went a little beyond the call of duty because he and Dh got into a conversation about politics- and they agreed with each other....and the tech put the extra effort in. He did go into our bedroom (with permission) remarking on the antiqued TV we had there.....and remarked about its age and if we had another set. Well we did (and that is a long story- Dh and I figured we would switch TV's "one of these days"- the tech announced that he would make the change immediately-and did so right then and there. Such a great customer friendly person.
No crafting for this woman, not until at least tonight....I think.
I am working with a new driver, so my days will be a bit more crazy. Its only temporary- and will be over with in 5 or 6 weeks.
Should be able to stop in and say hi all weekend- we have WIFI in the hotel.
Hi to Meg, Phyl and CJ. CJ, I do think the hot weather breaks for you today (YAY!) and most definitely tomorrow. Hope your mouth is healing well. Phyl is the play pen still neat? They never seem to stay that way.... Meg, is your thumb any better?
Take care all Ginny
