Meg I would have wanted to get rid of all that equipment too. I do think it's awful that they won't take it away unless a doctor approves. We all have the right to decide what's right for us. If we know what can happen if we don't agree to a certain treatment or a certain med then it's up to us to make our own decisions.
CJ, that sounds like a delicious lunch. The only way I like fish is deep fried. I like some hushpuppies too but some are seasoned with something I don't care for and I'm not sure what it is. The ones you had sound good. I wouldn't want corn kernels in mine either.
Ginny, I too meant to say how thoughtful your dh was to offer to stop and buy a replacement hook.
Is the title of the book something you would want to share. I'm always looking for a good book.
I still haven't gotten back to the mittens. Between the shopping, putting things away, processing chicken for the freezer and starting some broth with the backs then getting two ready for in the crockpot then cleaning up the kitchen I was tired and just sat and watched mindless tv while playing a game online.
I need to find out what dh wants to eat now that he's had his after shopping and helping put things away nap.

Good afternoon, It seems quiet here- unless others have posted and as usually happens to me, I see the other posts after I respond.
That was a few years ago that Dh offered to stop for another crochet hook. Not so sure he is that patient now, but it sure was a nice gesture then. Not to worry, that extra hook is packed. I stiopped at church this am, and we are working on hats in the knitting and crocheting group. That is awesome for me, I can make a ton of those slouchy hats, they are easy and go quickly. (Does talking with my pastors wife qualify as crafting?) The book I am reading is called "The WIsh", written by Beverly Lewis. It is, I think one of her latest. And as typical of her books, it is very soothing.....a very pleasant read. And as busy as my life has been, Beverly Lewis is just what I need.
Ruth, it does sound like you are busy putting things away from your big shopping trip. But having all that broth and cooked chicken frozen and ready for use will be wonderful when cooler weather comes to stay.
Hi to Meg, CJ and Phyl, I will most likely stop in tomorrow, even though its a travel day for me. Ds will be home all weekend.......
Have a great evening Ginny

Phyl, the table mat must be beautiful. YOu did such a wonderful thing to give it away even though you were seriously tempted to keep it yourself especially considering that you can't get that fabric anymore. What a very, very kind and nice thing to do. And I love the sound of the things that were given to you. I'd love to win things like that and they're so useful. Congratulations on the pound lost to and in getting that info into the computer. I haven't been to a meeting since computer use I guess because I still have a book with weight recorded on it and I do remember that when you got there you had to go to a bunch of boxes they had there and find the card to go up and check in and weigh in with. I was last there when points plus started so it wasn't all that many years ago but in timing it with the other things I did at the time I'd have to say it was in 2010. You would think that they would have been using computers by 2010.At the time they had me find out what my lifetime membership number was. I just had to give them the address I lived at when I became lifetime. I don't think they told me what my weight was back then but I think I was about 140 and thought I was really fat. Years later I got all the way up to about 186 and am now down to just over 116. I'm also 5-2. I'm sure that at 186 I looked like a beached whale. Since losing weight from the 186 range and getting into 150's I flucuated up and down and thought 142 was acceptable. Funny how our ideas change over the years.Dh tells me he thinks it's better to be a little heavier as we get older but I like this being under 120 a lot. When I quit working I did get all the way back up to 172. Suddenly not getting all that exercise really did a number on me. I thank God for His help in getting me to a better weight. It was with His help that I got back on track.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I love to read a good book, glad you're enjoying it. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Phyl - Hope you enjoy the Parade tomorrow if you get to go. Ruth - The restaurant I went to was a local one, not a chain. I'll be going back next month because the group I eat with once a month said they'd like to go there since I was telling them about it. Meg - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. I had another lunch today and got a slice of pizza, it was good. I recently read two books that took place around the WWI and WWII timeframes. They were interesting, and a collection of short stories. Take care everyone!

Ginny, yes we must have been typing at the same time. I was going to ask if you were leaving today after work but then thought better of it knowing we shouldn't let the world know we'll be gone. I'm glad your ds will be there to make sure the house is safe from intruders.I know you wouldn't have even mentioned going if the house was going to be left empty. Have a great trip.
Yes the broth is all ready. Tomorrow I'll make some of dh's favorite chicken soup with mushrooms, carrots, onions, celery and spinach with rice and quinoa in it.Nice and healthy and not much fat and calories.
Oh and now I see CJ's message too. CJ, nothing like a good recommendation on a restaurant. Now the pizza I could do without. I'm not much of a pizza eater.
Ginny, I meant to say that talking to anyone about crafting sure counts. It's great that your church is making hats. There's always such a need for them in colder climates. I've never read a Beverly Lewis book but a lot of people really like them so I will have to look them up and read some.
CJ, I'm not big on historical novels. I always liked studying history but I like my novels to be in the present time. And I just like novels that are relaxing and entertaining.

Good evening!
CJ- were the two books you read written by the same author? Glad you enjoyed your meal out.....a good slice of pizza is a treat!
Ruth, you are totally right I would never have mentioned that we would be gone- but I do know that our son will be home, so I can go ahead and mention our plans. I respectfully disagree with you , in that I love pizza and could probably eat it daily. And I am a little wierd, but I like it cold also. Your chicken soup sounds heavenly....also it sounds like something that will not upset your system either.Beverly Lewis is a Mennonite and her mom was Amish. Most of her books revolve around Amish culture- modern stories that take place in an Amish setting. She can be a little bit predictable- but you can usually figure out the ending, but never how she will arrive at that ending. Her books are soothing- and will never afront your senses or morality. I have read many other Amish novelists- and they all pale in comparison- and become tedious (IMO). Perhaps you can give her a try.....not sure how much reading you do.
Ok, I am exhausted. Going to go read and then try to sleep. Good night all Ginny

Ginny, I used to read about one book a day but have gotten away from that and am crocheting and other things instead. Now I get maybe one or two books read a week.
I like pizza if it has jalapenos on it but otherwise I don't care for it.
Get some rest so you can enjoy your trip.

Good evening everyone, I haven't had much computer time as DS has been using it. So this will be a quic k post. I have been knitting today as I went to Knit Wits and then continued knitting this evening. I am trying to finish Devin's slipper boots. I had finished one and then didn't knit the second one. and they don't take long to finish. I am going to knit a pair for a woman in my Knit Wits GP. She was telling me today how she came here years ago as a refugee from one of the countries that broke away from Russia. She said they had nothing when they came here and she was so thankful that she was able to come to America an how everyone helped her. People like her are so thankful for what they have here while so many of people who have lived in America al their lives are out protesting about how terrible life is here. Some of them need to go and live in other countries.
Phyl. congratulations on your weight loss. What a wonderful thing to do give away something that you would have liked to keep for yourself. It sounds like you had a good day.
Ruth, you are a wonder you are always so well organized. I don't seem to get much of anything anymore.
cj, I am not much of a pizza eater but once in awhile I enjoy a slice.
Ginny, I hope your trip goes well and that you have a safe trip there and back. Have fun.
I will get back to you tomorrow. Sleep well.

Meg, one day I started a pair of slipper boots but I haven't gotten back to them yet. And I appreciate the thought but, no, I'm not organized at all but I'm getting better than I used to be. I was very organized at work. We had to be or there would be chaos when an emergency came up. In my personal and home life I wasn't and still am not organized at all.
You're so right about people that have come here as refugees from poverty stricken countries. They appreciate what they do have. It's always appreciated when anyone gives them something. It's very nice of you to make her slipper boots. It's a gift from the heart. It does sound like your knit wits is an enjoyable time. Maybe I need to start going back to Caps for Kids. I wish my church had a group. I would start one but sometimes in the winter I can't get out.I like the thought of a prayer shawl ministry but, although they are usually appreciated when given in times of stress I think something like hats is much more of a need.Of course there is already Caps for Kids here but they don't give to any groups affiliated with any religious organization or church. And as far as the people whining about our country I say that those people should then find a country they do like and move there or learn to get along here. Maybe if they kept quiet and started helping others they would feel better about themselves and not have to start trouble and controversy.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my chicken soup. It will be cold after today and we'll have some nice warming food.
I just finished cleaning my "office" too...well one of the....my living room couch and coffee table. Both get cluttered fast with yarn and writing things. I like to make lots of lists so paper and pens gather.
I got more yarn yesterday. It's the yarn for baby blankets that I'm going to make and donate. I want to do one a week and more if I can and want to finish the requested things and items for Christmas gifts so that I don't have to stress at the last minute and also the blanket for the new baby which will go into the box of dgd's presents. Baby may be born before the blanket gets there but we'll see what happens. Today besides the soup and cleaning I want to reorganize my yarn stash so that I can see what I have as I kind of just stacked things when company was coming.
ONe mitten is done and it looks ok but could use some revisions to the pattern. The designer of the pattern said she'd never made mittens before so I guess we're both doing little adjustments to it. I'd hope to have the pair done by now but unfortunately I got distracted and wasted time instead. So today I'm hoping to stay focused and get some constructive things accomplished.
I hope Ginny and her dh have reached their destination safely. I wonder if it's an evening wedding or if they had to leave very early. I think Ginny is an early bird. I always hate to have to get up really early to go anywhere. Used to be that when I flew to visit ds I had to get up at 4:30 am and it killed me. They come here now but if I go back there I'll take the later plane and they'll just have to come to the airport late to pick me up or I can spend the night at a hotel near the airport and they can pick me up at their leisure. Hotels always have shuttles to take you to the airport so no problem with that.
Well off to do some work. Have a great day and I'll see you later.

Ginny, it's great that you were able to put the time riding in the car to multiple use. Chatting with your dh or listening to music or both while crocheting at the same time. Wish I could email you some soup. It's hot and it's healthy. Watching an outdoor football game when it's cold is not something I would enjoy but I would enjoy being with the people who I went with I think.
Did get the other mitten done. They don't take long at all. Maybe an hour at the most for one mitten so I should be able to do a lot of these. Now that I know the basics I'm going to make some with designs and maybe a crochet cable up the back and also with multiple colors. First things first though. I'm going to prioritize and get the things done first that need done first.
Ginny was the wedding today or is it tomorrow? With the drive and the football game it sounds like the wedding must be tomorrow.
Hello also to CJ, Meg, and Phyl. Have a good night all and get lots of rest.
