This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Good evening all!
My week went off the rails last week. I didn't even WI on Saturday. I think that going completely off track on that first day messed with my mind. Also, I ate lunch out every single day, I think.
This weekend was ok but not great. Today has been fine, but Friday night and Saturday were not good. Too much everything.
I did track yesterday, and a big chunk of my WPs are gone (but not all). I will try to remember to WI on Monday.
This week should be fine during the week, but this weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving. We will also be having DD's birthday party this weekend.
After Thanksgiving, we are going to New Orleans for a few days. I'm pretty excited, but of course it will be a challenge food-wise. I'm hoping to get lots of walking in and I'm just going to focus on enjoying myself and not going too crazy.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Good morning
wwlurker, thanks for the October start. Enjoy New Orleans when you go. I've only been once and restricted myself so badly with food that I missed out on all the local stuff. Not going too crazy and walking will help you enjoy what is offered there.
cj59, WTG with 7 months!! That is awesome. You should be proud of yourself.
I haven't been getting on the computer as much lately. I really need to check in because it does help me. So waving to all and I will see you tomorrow!

Good morning! sunrose49 - I find checking in is a nice way to focus. I really want to experience as much local food while I'm there as possible. I figure it's a once in a lifetime type thing for me. cj59 - 7 months at or below goal is amazing. I love seeing how you work the program. I didn't have time to WI this morning so I will try to remember to do that tomorrow. Today I'm focusing on the food - trying to stay within my points. I missed the gym due to an early meeting. I'm going to try to get back to the gym more consistently. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Hello Everyone wwlurker - Thanks for starting our monthly thread. I hope this week goes better for you and maybe you can save up some points to use for the weekend. Also, I hope you enjoy your time in New Orleans and get to try some of the special foods there. I always wanted to try a beignet. Hope you can find some time to get to the gym too. sunrose - hope you are doing well on your plan. I like to check in most days for the support and to keep myself accountable. I think if I stopped posting on these threads I'd find it very easy to gain weight and not tell anyone. I weighed in this morning for my weekly weigh in and stayed the same this week, so I was happy about that. I will have a few challenging food days later this week, so I'm trying to save up my weekly points until then to use. I hope I can stick with that. Hope anyone else checking in is doing well on their plans.

Good morning! cj59 - I will definitely be trying all of the food. I love good food. (I also love junk food and have some bad emotional eating habits, which is the biggest part of why I am here). I'm over for my points for the week as of right now. I haven't been going crazy overboard, but just enough to put me over. I was kind of considering "customizing" my points allowance. According to the quiz, I get 25 points a day. But, I think that I am more active than an average desk worker. Based upon my fitbit calorie burn, I think that I could lose (more slowly, but still lose) on up to 32 points a day plus my weeklies. But I'm not sure that I want or need to go that high. I was thinking of trying 28 to start. I would also like to set my points at a level which encourages me to make good choices and minimize treats, but doesn't make me feel like I'm constantly struggling to keep within my points. I'm also considering making a rule that I get an extra AP for each 2000 steps I take over 5000 steps. I seem to remember that was pretty much the barometer back when I used to wear my WW pedometer. I feel like these tweaks would help me stay on track. I would still reduce points as I lost weight (although maybe not automatically every 10 pounds like you're supposed to). What do you all think? Should I customize or do the Momentum plan as written? [Edited to add: If I count this way, I would still have 6 WPs left for the week this week - and that would make me feel like much less of a failure]

Good morning
wwlurker, I like the tweaks you are thinking about. Let us know if you do it.
cj59, WTG staying the same this week. Enjoy your time out. Sounds like you have a good plan in place for it.
I went to a second WW meeting this morning. The subject this week is our "why." What brought us to WW in the first place. I made LT in 1991 and still remember my first time going. I went with a friend and then another friend after the first one dropped out. I originally lost 33 pounds. I need to get that "why" feeling back.

Hello Everyone wwlurker - I think you would be very smart to customize Momentum to work for you. I did the same thing when I started back in 2015. I haven't strictly followed the program since then, just used the portions of it that worked best for me. I have a few things that I believe I must do every day, other than that I'm flexible with the plan. It's definitely worth trying the program the way you want to and see what happens. The most important thing is to have a program you can live with. sunrose - Good for you attending meetings and I hope that you can get that "why" feeling back. I know for me it was for my health. Now that I feel better it's easy to forget how bad I felt a few years ago. I try to remind myself of those times so I won't ever go back to them. I'm doing pretty well so far this week. I'm saving up my weekly points for later this week and looking forward to "spending" them on some good food.

Good morning all, Thanks for the support for my customized plan. I think I'm going to try it out. Yesterday did not go as planned. I overate for a few reasons. First, I had an unexpected lunch out at a place where there weren't many good choices. Then, DH brought home a pecan pie...it was downhill from there. Today, I'm having lunch out again (a healthier place this time, though) and I'm working late, so I brought my dinner. I've been having a tough time sticking to anything. I feel like I have very little control over my food sometimes. There are so many work events/social events where I don't get to pick what we eat, and at home, because I work so much, DH is mostly in charge of the food. I need to figure out how to deal with that. sunrose49 - I would have loved that topic. I like the "Beyond the Scale" portion of the current plan; but the actual points calculation doesn't jive with how I eat. cj59 - When I did Momentum back in 2009, I was much less strict about how I counted, etc. It seemed so much easier back then! At that time, I only had one child and he was an infant, DH worked shift work and was never home so I had complete control over the food in the house, and I worked much less than I do now (both because DH worked so much and because my career was just getting started so I wasn't nearly as busy). Sometimes I think that I am an introvert who has no alone time, which is part of the reason I struggle so much.

Good Morning, the kids have kept me busy, so I haven't had much free time. I am still hanging in there and tracking. Doing alright with sticking to my daily points, but some days I am not so good at getting in the healthy choices. Currently, I am considering a Y membership, so I can be more active in the winter. I really love aqua aerobics in the past and I think it would be good to get back at it. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hello Everyone wwlurker - I hope you "cut yourself some slack" with all the challenges you have to eat well. A demanding job and a family to take care of have to take a lot of your time and effort and "dieting" takes a lot of effort too. It's also tough if you don't get enough alone time. I'm an introvert too and remember the days when I was working and also had home demands - it's tough. Hope you can find a little time for yourself. One of the things that has worked for me on Momentum is having some very low point foods/meals that I can use to eat when the rest of the day had a bunch of high point foods. My choices maybe aren't the most healthy but at about 4 points for a meal (with added free vegetables) it has helped me to stay on track on days when I have higher points meals for the rest of the day. Maybe you can find some of those for yourself to balance the days when you don't have a choice about food offerings at events. I think I'd like some of the Beyond the Scale and the cutting back of sugar on the Smart Points plan, but I don't want to go to meetings again. leesa - Glad to hear your are doing well and tracking. Aqua aerobics does sound like fun, I hope you can do that this winter. I'm doing pretty well and working to stay on track so I can eat some high point foods later this week. Take care everyone!

Just checking in for the day and really fighting the urge to overeat. I just need to hold out today because tomorrow I have plans to go out and eat some high point/calorie foods. I've been saving up for this so I can enjoy myself.
Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans!

Good morning
wwlurker, hang in there it is tough sometimes trying to work it all out. Have you talked to your DH about helping you with better choices? You probably have and I'm sure he knows what you deal with, just thought I would throw it out anyway. ;-) I do have problems sticking to anything. I've tried so may plans over the past 6 years. I always come back to WW. Being single, living in the country, makes it hard at night. I'm an introvert too, but I spend way to much time by myself.
lessa, good to see you. The Y would be really nice.
cj59, enjoy your day out today. That's a great that you have planned for it.
My ankle is still hurting from the fall. I have managed to get my steps in or close to 10K.

I never pay attention to the tagging area. I just went in to look and wanted to say wwlurker, I love the beyond scale discussions too. I know you don't want to go to a meeting cj59, but I so love them. We all have to do what fits for us. I get great tips when I go.

Hello Everyone sunrose - I'm sorry to hear your ankle is still hurting, good for you though getting in those steps even with the pain. I'm checking in for the day. I've definitely eaten all my weeklies today, but I'm glad I don't feel guilty about it because I planned for it. I've also made sure to get in my fruits, vegetables, dairy, water and exercise. I make those things a must-do every day. I hope to get right back on track tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well on their plans and that you have a good weekend!
