Short and sweet goddesses is a thread especially for us "Short n' Petite Gals". As "Short n' Petites", we have our own issues. Our goals are lower, and as we all know, a 5-pound loss or gain can make a huge difference on a Short n' Petite. We are here to support and encourage one another, so please feel free to join us!

Hi all.
This weekend flew by. I had to go to a funeral yesterday, ran some errands, did things around the house and yard, then had a church committee meeting tonight. Nothing too exciting. :-)
My BP is still holding steady in the normal range, and I no longer feel like I'm constantly fighting with anxiety. I have a follow up on Wednesday for that.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Hi all, Holly, thanks for staring a new month! I always forget that the date changes! DH and I went to his cousin and her husbands memorial service today. I have never see so many people ( except at my nephews when he died at age 16) . They were obviously much loved. A nice service too.
Beautiful weather here today. Hope it continues next week!
Went to dinner after church and after the memorial service so two big meals. I must walk in the morning! Had baked potato at lunch and sweet potato in the evening. Ate entirely too much today.

I forgot to look for Oct thread From Joan, on the Sept thread....
So the gun violence has hit Vegas--angry white rage--and immediately a guy who works for Sheldon Adelson tweets that it's a Muslim. Unreal. Trying to find out how to volunteer our home for relatives of injured. My gym teacher 'S son who is a metro cop was not there thank goodness!

It seems that tragedy strikes on a weekly basis these days, between natural disasters and human madness. Joan, I feel for you, it is your home.

Having a hard time tonight after reading stories of last night. One Vegas lady bartender stayed with a dying Canadian man and then his phone rang. She talked to his gF who was safe and had to tell her he had died. Then his mother called and she had to tell her--she promised not to leave him--stayed with his body for 5 1/2 hrs so they would know he was not lying on the pavement alone and dead--I just wept--and am crying again--so many horrible stories mixed with acts of heroism and it is so hard to deal with!

Lots of need for counseling here--I am taking DGS13 tomorrow night while DD goes to Mandalay Bay where shooter was--they have called for counseling help for their employees who are suffering with emotional stresses like crazy.
Walked today at 6:30 and DH actually joined me. Going to gym soon and then have my monthly hydro facial from DH's nephew's X--hoping she is doing better--having a H divorce you for younger women at age 60 is so emotionally devastating. It's been 1 1/2 years but she has a hard time--she is a cancer survivor and beautiful woman who has been made to feel old and unattractive yet she looks like a 50ish model!
Had excellent lung lung test results that blew my dr's mind--my lung capacity used to be about 90% of what is optimal for me age and now is 110%. A new blood test that tests the oxygen exchange time or something like that showed me at a 90 score and he said a typical 73 year old usually gets about 70. All this change in the one year and two months I have been at the gym consistently. Great ad for benefits of exercise for my age. That's better than even losing weight or looking better!
Holly, are you still feeling good on new meds?
Sue, any progress on part time job ideas? Has Your SO given up on the idea of moving?
JoAnne, hope you are doing ok.

Hi!
Yesterday was volunteering in the morning, then gym in the afternoon. Today I had jury duty. Did not get picked, I really didn't want to do it, a man who raped and abducted 2 girls on 2 separate occasions. It was so upsetting just to hear the judge read the descriptions of grounds for arrest. Went to my neighborhood farmers market on my way back from jury duty.
Beautiful days we've been having here. Sunny and warm but not too hot or humid.
Holly, it's great that you're feeling better. Are you taking anti anxiety medication?
Speaking of funerals, I've been to 3 this year, too many, considering I've only been to 10 total my whole life.
Jojo, are your porches all done? Hope you are enjoying it with this beautiful weather.
Joan, great that your lungs have improved so much! Sad about your DH nephews ex, stupid men.
I've been looking at the help wanted adds for culinary, most of it is for full time restaurant jobs, which I don't want at all. I keep checking.
SO keeps looking but it's the usual story, there is a fatal flaw in everything that he looks at, so of course, we're stuck in no man's land. I don't mind that except that his painting situation and space in our house is going to get worse and worse.

Sue, since you seem to have many friends and love your area for eating out, etc., why doesn't he think about renting or leasing a loft studio to work in, store and display his large works? Seems it would be cheaper in the long run and you would get to stay with what feels like home. Occasionally have open studio nights and you do the catering! I know--always thinking up schemes for you! Sorry!

Ugh, what a terrible week. Thinking of those involved in the tragedy in LV.
I’m feeling better. Hoping the side effects will go away. Sue, yes I’m on one, as well as a beta blocker. Hope you find something you enjoy.
I had an eye appt yesterday with a new opthalmologist. At my last visit, the other opthalmologist told me I had a cataract in the eye that I have some vision in, but that I wouldn’t have to worry about it until I was much older. Well, turns out the type I have is very unpredictable and could worsen at anytime. I’m glad switched opthalmologists. Did not like the other one at all. But that news is very disconcerting.

Holly, even tho the news about your eyes was not great, better to know that the dr is aware of the difference instead of ignoring it for years.
Did pilates today and was a really good workout. Will have DHS after school till about ten--trying to think of something we could bake and enjoy without ruining my food control! he loves to help bake but doesn't get to often since DD is working so much.

First harvest moon tonight since 2009--and it was a beauty! We drive down a ways to a soccer park and had a great view of that big orange disk coming up--wish we had taken our binoculars!
DGS is doing algebra homework and I cleaned out the fridge.
When he is done we wil play some cribbage.
Just logged in my dinner and snacks--I ate about 1500 calories today and only did pilates. Hoping that will not be a problem.

Morning all, Just lost my post - hate that! Will start over I guess.
What a terrible week with the shooting in your home town Joan! Sympathies to all affected. Joan I am sure you have encountered situations that you never imagined.
And the disasters continue. Another hurricaine in the Gulf - this time will affect Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama!
I have spent all week getting the porches and patios back together and my yard cleaned up. Also did some major housecleaning. Had guest for dinner last night and it spurred me on to do all of this. Fall is here in Georgia and the yard requires raking or blowing about every 2-3 days to keep ahead of the leaves. I love the weather but hate the leaves.
Last night we had the standard steak on the grill, baked potatoes, and salad. Pumpkin pie for dessert. Haven't had a meal like this in probably 10 years. I have to say, it was really good. I am not a big steak eater but bought a couple of cases of sirloin strips that are boneless and they are soooo good.
My guests were friends from my old job. So good to see them and enjoy their company.
Holly- so sorry to hear about your eye.

Hi!
Did my volunteering yesterday and gym later in the afternoon. I really enjoy volunteering, meeting new people all the time. Many different tasks.
Joan, I was so bummed, it was a cloudy night last night so did not get to see the moon. Yes, SO has been looking at renting studio space in this area, also looking at one particular building to buy but he thinks they are asking too much. This one has a large gourmet kitchen, so I could do the food for his exhibition openings. But it is still not a great space for his paintings, not enough walls, and not enough light for a good studio.
Holly, it is good to have the eye issue monitored from early on.
Jojo, yum I love a good steak, I probably have it once or twice a month. All this yard and patio work is good exercise!
Not much going on. Today I have lunch with ex-partner's wife (who also used to work in my office, he is still there). They live in this neighborhood and we've been socializing with them. We're trying out another Asian fusion dim sum kind of place.
