Hey Phyl, I don't know if you saw that I started a thread on over 60's asking about Dessie (Maxine). Molly answered and suggested maybe you'd heard from her. Have you?

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
The mail thing worked out yesterday. I watched for someone to come home and then took the mail over there. They didn't answer the door when I knocked, but they have a small enclosed porch and the door was unlocked so I laid the mail inside there. I saw that they have a new mailbox up today. We have a lot of accidents on the road I live on and the mailboxes get hit a lot. Ours was knocked down so many times that my father bought a steel beam and the last time someone hit and knocked our mailbox down, he put that steel beam in the ground and secured the mailbox on with large bolts. It's still standing - no one has run into that steel beam!
I went to a quilt sale today that was interesting. They had a lot of small quilted pieces like pot holders, tablemats, kitchen items, etc. But they also had a lot of quilts in sizes King, Queen, Full and Twin. Some of them cost $300! Which I thought was a little high. I wasn't too taken with any of the fabrics and color schemes used in their quilts either.
I did buy a beautiful Christmas Tree Skirt, a small table topper, a pretty rose/brown/beige bed runner, and a little holder for sticky notes and a pencil that has a magnet to stick on your fridge. So it was an enjoyable time. Tomorrow is an actual quilt show. I'm looking forward to seeing their quilts.
Take care everyone!

Happy Friday!!
CJ- i agree with Phyl- the mailman ought to be handling that mail, as a matter of fact it is a crime to handle someone else's mail. I do not blame you for being anxious about It. Would you call the post office and get their advice? (But then that might annoy your mail carrier). Consider yourself lucky that you have not been in a wedding....they are usually full of drama and fun only for the bride- sometimes.
Phyl- glad that the shot was not bad.Glad you live in a simple house which will make it easier on you and your hip. Did the shot help?
Ruth, the sweater is adorable. I am glad you are able to donate so much...are things starting to look less cluttered?
Long day and I am very tired. I finished my book last night, and today my next book in the series came in. So glad about that.....it will give me something to do when (and if ) I get some down time.
Meg did you get to knit wits today?
Good night Ginny

we went to the apple place to meet them. then they came here to drop ozzie off.

CJ, I'm glad the mail situation is all sorted out. I'm sure that's a great relief to you. I would love a quilt show that had little things like you mentioned. I for sure wouldn't be buying the big quilts for $300 esp if the colors and the layout aren't even nice.
Ginny, I do hope you get the opportunity to just sit and rest and read or whatever you feel like doing at the moment. We all need some down time.
Dh and I went out today to Menard's. I had suggested we go to Long John Silvers but we got a late start so we just came home. I was sure tired after walking around that big store. We did get a new battery for our mini van so it should be good for winter now. We do probably need to get tires though
No my craft room is still cluttered because I have the four bags in there that I need to take to GW or someplace. I never did get to the closet downstairs but I sure found out that most of my clothes are way too big. I think it was CJ that mentioned she doesn't like to wear tight things. I don't either. I like to be comfortable but today my jeans kept falling down too far. Nothing was exposed but you sure could tell they are very baggy. I found a whole bag of courderoy pants in my closet that are too big. I never wore then much because they were too small, then I ended up being a smaller size than those pants and of course they're only good for winter so most are like new even though I've had them for years. I don't knwo if people even still wear corderoy pants anymore but they're going so whatever happens to them at least they'll be out of my house.
I started the sweater before I left this morning. I had some dazzelaire yarn that I got marked down at Herrschner's because it was being discontinues. It's a beautiful color called cerullean which I think my dgd will love. I'm making the size 10 size. She'll be 11 on her birthday so I hope this will fit. It says on the label that it's considered bulky yarn and what I have done so far looks big but I haven't measured yet. I suppose I should really do that.I really have no idea what size she is but I guess too big is better than not large enough although one of her sisters could wear it if it was either too big or too small. She's the middle child right now and the middle girl. After the new baby gets here there won't be a middle child but she'll still be the middle girls because the baby is a boy.I really like dazzelaire yarn and when I went to Caps for Kids the leader would always save the donated dazzelaire for me.I still have a couple partial skeins of that so I should make that into hats and take to the senior center for the new leader but then again, since both the leaders I knew are gone maybe I'll just take them to that church too.
It would be great to see Meg and Phyl here this evening so I'll keep checking but I'm going to work on that sweater and the baby blanket

Oh Phyl, you've already posted. I'm glad you got to see Ozzie's "mom". I've seen his picture and he's a very cute dog. I'm glad you had a good time visiting with her and it's great that you can share some of your fabric and another friend shares with you.The friend that shared some of her yarn stash with me is one that you've met too. She's such a wonderful woman and unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to meet her in person. It's got to be great living in an area where you can get together with online friends although having someone come to my house would be too stressful for me. I'd have to meet at a restaurant because I would be too nervous that my house didn't look clean enough. Some people say I'm a clean freak but to me it never looks good enough for company.I'm strange that way I guess.

Good morning!
Phyl, its nice to hear that the shot is helping you stay comfortable. My theory (and I am probably wrong, Ruth is our resident nurse and can correct me) would be that the shot is responsible for the funny feeling as the cortisone reduces the swelling... Anyway, good to hear that you are doing a bit better. Glad you got to meet Ozzie the yorkie too!! And its a nice thing downloading some fabric that you will no longer use. Makes room for more fabric that you will use, right?
Ruth, gee, I am surprised that they still make Dazzleaire! I remember that yarn from years ago, made an afghan from it. I think you said it was discontinued, but I am surprised that it was around not too long ago. It sure does feel good getting rid of stuff that you will no longer use or wear. I think it clutters the mind and just messes up our thinking process if there is too much "stuff" around. My mom was a pack rat and had trouble getting rid of anything. I could see her inward struggle as I would attempt to help her straighten things up. Glad you got a start on the sweater......it looks like such a cute pattern. Is it difficult to make?
Ok, gotta go, Dh just threw something else in my morning to do. We are headed to BJ's and are stopping on the way to go for a walk. So its a nice thing.
Have a blessed day all Ginny
Oh! CJ- so glad your mail situation has been resolved. That must have been very uncomfortable for you G

Phyl, I forgot to mention how I hope the shot helps but yes, the cortisone usually makes a person a little "hyper" and interferes with sleep. It also can raise your blood sugar so if you test and find that it's high, that's what it is.
Ginny, I was surprised, too, to find Dazzelaire. I think they d'c'ed it in 2010 and I didn't think I'd had this THAT long but maybe Herrschner's had a stash of it for awhile after that.I actually thought it was off the market long before that.Luckily I bought 4 skeins. The sweater is so easy. You would not believe how easy it is.We had a BJ's store back in western NY and would go there sometimes.None here though. All we have is Sam's club and we haven't been there for about 12 years. I think the last time was in 2006 when my third brother was here with his family.
Today will be our last warm day for at least awhile...up to 70 that is.
Yesterday the second dggs turned one. I can't believe they are both a year old already.
Well I'm off to plan my day and start working down my list. See you all later.

My crafting so far today has consisted of going thru some of the many containers in my craft room to see just what I have. I have a ton of small balls of leftover yarns. Some of them I got at Caps for Kids. Most months the one leader would give everyone a little zip lock bag with small balls of leftover yarn that coordinated and asked that everyone make a hat with them and bring back the next months. Others are leftovers from my projects. They'll be perfect for stripes on hats and mittens. I also tried to organize and put all similar things into one container and set one container for supplies such as tape measures, etc, one for wip's, and one for completed items. I have a lot more wips than anything else. I found that I have a while drawer full of white yarn and I also have a very large box that has red and white yarn that I got from Red Heart when they had a sale for the red and white so that the person buying it could make an afgan for disaster relief. As you can see I haven't got to that yet. Not to mention all the ohter yarn I have some of which I had forgotten about. When at CAps, I rarely took any of the yarn they had because I had so much of my own but I do have a bag with quite a bit of that dazzelaire in it. Do any of you save the yarn ends to do something with like stuffing for something you make that needs stuffed? I usually do for awhile then throw them away but I do have a lot now. I'm thinking of making balls for the great grandbabies to throw around. Babies always love to throw balls and with these they won't break anything so another thing to add to my Christmas list. They don't take long to make

Ruth- a very happy (and belated) birthday to your Dggs who turned one! Making yarn balls is a great idea- I have seen yarn balls or fabric scrap balls sold in country decor stores for big bucks!
Got Dd and Dh home....so this is a busy weekend. Ds goes back for his training class tomorrow, and we have Dd home until Wednesday. Good to see them.
Hope everyone has a good evening.....Meg, have not heard from you and we all hope you are doing well. Ginny

Yes I hope that Meg is ok.
I'm going to crochet the balls and fill them with yarn scraps that are inside a knee high stocking I think. I was told by one person to fill rice bags with rice inside a nylon knee high then after I got them I realized that it's not a good idea to put them in a microwave as they can melt or catch fire so I still have them around and they'll be good for this purpose.
I did get to the downstairs closet. I haven't really looking in there for awhile and there was more of my clothing than I thought. Again, very nice clothes which I can't wear anymore because I swim in them and all but two still have price tags on them. Dh told me I should keep some so I tried one on and he agreed that no sense keeping them after all.
I just made dh some peanut butter oatmeal cookies. He's happy.
Ginny, it's great you have your dd and ds home for the weekend and your daughter until Wed. I know she's good company and you'll enjoy visiting and doing things with her....when she's not our with friends that is. Our adult children tend to do that.I'll be praying for safe travel for your son as he goes back.
Thank you for the happy birthday for my dggs. Dgd posted pictures of him smearing his cake all over his body. She made him his own separate one to play in. Unfortunately we didn't get to celebrate with him because they live in Montana.
The sweater is coming right along. Hopefully it will continue to go smoothly. It really is easy, Ginny, I'm not exaggerating. It's about as easy as doing a blanket.
CJ, I hope the quilt show was great. Did you see some you couldn't leave behind?
Phyl, you always have good weekends. How did you spend this one?

I have been reading all your posts trying to catch up. I will try to post tomorrow. I am going to try and post the site where I found my slipper bootie pattern.
knitaddicted.com/free-knitting-patterns/sock-knitting-patterns/bulky-yarn-booty/
Good I did it. There are pictures of the booties. I just finished a pr. for Devin this evening. The last pt. I knit were too small for him.
Anyway I am off to bed. I want to go to church tomorrow morning.
Good night sleep well.

And Meg, there are a lot of posts because I talk so much Thank you for posting the slipper pattern page link. I really need to make myself some of these because I have Raynaud's of the feet (spreading to hands last winter) so I need to keep my toes warm or they hurt a lot. I'll be making some of these for me and I may try the baby ones too. I'm not great at knitting but these look pretty simple so I may just be able to do it. I've been doing other things so haven't got back to the sweater yet but I'm going to do it now and may bet several rows done before I head off to bed. I hope you all have a good night's sleep and pleasant dreams
