I do like the turkey table runner and placemats and I see she's charging $7.99 for the pattern. Just looking at it I can tell it would be very easy to make without a pattern.I'm not much of a knitter but I'd bet Meg could make a knitted one with no problem

Hello Quilters – Hope you are all doing well today. Meg – That Turkey table runner is so cute, I hope you do get to make it.
Ginny – I hope you are feeling better today. That baby blanket is cute too, I like the yellow and white together. What colors would you crochet it in?
Ruth – Glad to hear you finished the baby blanket and I hope you do get to go to the craft show if they have one. My father used to do a lot of wordworking and small wood crafts back when they were so popular in the 1990s. We would go to craft shows all the time so he could get ideas and inspiration. I’m happy to have several of his pieces that I enjoy looking at and remembering him. Most quilt shows around here are in the Spring and early Summer. The only quilting things left for the year are a few quilt bingos (but I don’t plan to go to them) and this sale at this place in December where they have lots of hand quilted quilts. I’ve never been to it before, but I want to go this year:

www.bellwetherdrygoods.com/gallery.html - Pictures of some of their quilts
Phyl – Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting.
The quilt show was very nice. Not a lot of people there but there were some beautiful quilts. My sister-in-law and I are always in awe at how quilters pick fabrics that go together. There were several hand quilted pieces too, so I enjoyed looking at them.
I bought quite a few things (too much really LOL). Here are some of them:
- A crocheted baby blanket (22x24) in white with striped of yellow, pink, aqua, and blue. It looks like a shell stitch with either a single or double crochet border. It’s really pretty – I paid $20 for it
- About 14 yards of fabric split up by 1 yard, ½ yard, 1 ¾ yard, etc., pieces. I spent $40 on this fabric, plus a packet of quilt squares that were made and extra fabric to finish them, also some quilt labels - Several pieces of fabric that already have pre-printed quilting lines on them – I figure these are good for practice – none of them cost more than $1.00!!!
- Two stamped cross stitch pillowcases ready to embroider - $1.00
- Two quilt blocks that are a Hawaiian Applique - $3.00 for both
- A small already quilted quilt, ready to bind - $1.00
I also bought a completed quilt that was hand quilted and has applique on it for $20. It’s pretty large too, so I thought it was a good buy There were lots of things for sale that had belonged to one of their members who passed away last year. Her family had taken what they wanted, and gave the rest to the guild to sell. It’s always sad to hear that but I hope to give those things a good home.
Take care everyone!

CJ, great to see you. I'm glad you enjoyed the quilt show. It also sounds like you got some great bargains!! Esp that quilt that only needs a binding for $1...that's amazing and those pillowcases. The other things too were a great price. Yes it's sad when anyone dies. A lot of the yarn donated to Caps for Kids was from people who's family member died and they didn't want the yarn, hooks or needles that their loved one had. I didn't often take any of the yarn from there because I had lots of my own but some of it was beautiful. I think that might be where my crochet squares come from is someone who had passed away and family didn't know what to do with them.
Ginny, with that blanket pattern you could also revise it for a boy. Instead of the daisies you could crochet a "boy" applique and put on. Maybe if they're interested in a particular sport you could make one related to it, or you could do a car, a dog face or whatever. There are lot of patterns available for those and they don't take long.Or if they pick out a name you could embroider the name on the blanket or crochet the letters. I'm not fond of the idea of making letters esp for a long name but I've made appliques of cars, footballs, etc.
Meg, I hope you're having a good day. I'm glad to hear that Devin will be going to a pre and post school program so you won't have to get up early to take him to school.Did you get your dgd's afgan started yet? Is this one for Devin's mom? I think you made one for the other dgd didn't you?
Phyl, what have you been up to today. I'm sorry to hear that you ran into a problem with your knitted blanket.
I've been working on the sweater today. I hadn't made any mistakes but just a little while ago I found one so had to rip out four rows and do them over. I don't have much more to do on it so it should be done soon.
It's a beautiful day so dh is thinking about going out and washing the really high big windows. He bought a new hose and wants to make sure it's working ok and has no leaks.

Wwll this insanely long week is over!!! Yay!!!
Ruth, glad you are able to work on the sweater- and have only made minimal mistakes. (If it was me, I would have tons to rip out). Thanks for the ideas on the baby afghan, I am still unsure which pattern I will use. Let's see what gender the baby is.
CJ- sounds like you had quite a haul from that quilt show for cheap too! Such a sweet idea, selling the former quilters stash- the guild might as well enjoy the proceeds. think you got a steal on that baby afghan for $20.
No crafting for me, I cooked a big dinner (Ds came home) and worked a lot today.
Hope everyone has a great night. Ginny

I always seem to be the last one posting. But better late than never. This morning I had an appointment to get injections in my eyes so I wasn't able to see very well for awhile. So I took a nap this afternoon to give my eyes a rest and get back to normal.
Ginny, I hope you are feeling better. Probably picked up something from the kids on the bus. When I was working with kids I used to get strep throat all the time. I hope you can relax this weekend.
Ruth. I don't know whether I will make the table runner or not. I wouldn't pay $7.99 for it as it looks simple enough to make. You could also make it for other seasons. I started working on DDs afghan once I got it started I was fine because it is not difficult. The colors she choose are gray, pink & white. Yes this one is for Devin's Mom and The other one was for DD#1 who lives in Florida. She is coming home for a visit in Nov. Devin will just be going to the Discovery Club in the morning before school we will still have to pick him up in the afternoon. I am glad you got your sweater almost finished...we all make mistakes.
cj, you really picked up a lot of good bargains and that you enjoyed the show. It's nice that you have your DSIL to go with you. That's very nice that you have some of your DFs wood craft pieces.
Phyl, Hope you can get your blanket finished. Sometimes when I get stuck on a project if I put it away for awhile I find it easier to fix whatever it was that I had trouble with.
We have quite a lot of Craft Fairs here at this time of the year. I haven't been to any this year and we so not so the one at my church. I used to enjoy the Craft Fair we had at church, It was fun.
Have a good evening.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ruth - Hope everything went well with washing and testing the windows. Did you finish the sweater yet?
Ginny - Glad your long week is over, hope you get some rest this weekend and some time to craft.
Meg - I hope your eyes are feeling better today. Maybe you'll get to go to one of the craft shows this year, it is fun to see what others are making.
Phyl - Hope you are busy crafting.
I'm not doing any crafting today. I went through the things I bought yesterday and I can see several projects to use them with. I'll need to go through my supplies again soon and write up a list of projects so I know what I have to work on.
I tried an "experimental" pumpkin bread recipe this morning, and made it in muffin tins instead of the loaf pan. Instead of flour, it used quick oats, which I thought was different. It tasted alright, but I just didn't care for the texture, so I won't make that again.
Take care everyone!

Hello to all. Nice to see messages from Meg, Ginny and CJ.
CJ, I usually try those recipes that don't use flour because gluten has a bad effect on me. Some work ok and some don't. I grind up my oats to make oat flour and sometimes that works pretty well.
It's a cold nasty day here and it's snowing again. The coming week, though, is to be really nice with temps in the high 50's and 60's so I'm looking forward to that before winter gets here. Today is my birthday but I'm not doing anything to celebrate. At my age every day is a celebration of still being here. Dh will give me a couple small gifts. We don't give each other big things just little kind of joke gifts. I usually bake him his favorite dessert which is carrot cake.
No I didn't get the sweater done yet. I just have the edging along the front and neck to finish then make the sleeves which are easy and won't take long so if I work on it today it should be done.
CJ, I find that if I make a list of projects it helps me too. I need to concentrate and stay on track or I can easily start yet another thing instead of what I really want to finish or do next. After the sweater I want to finish dgd's fingerless gloves that I started while she was here and then get started on the Christmas things I plan to make. I'm going to make all the girls a cowl so I need to make a list of which ones I'm going to make. I also saw neck warmers for men so I'll make one of those for my sil and oldest grandson maybe or maybe I'll just make them fingerless gloves which might be easier and faster. Everyone can use those because everyone in the world but me has a smart phone and is constantly texting. My sil also has a business where he gets calls...well if he really worked at it that is. He has a house painting business. After the Christmas items I have a list of projects to do next and the items to donate are worked on between the Christmas things because I get bored working on the same thing all the time.

Hello everyone,
I have DD home this afternoon and at the moment she is playing with her game. Everyone else has taken off so it will be fairly quiet here for awhile. I didn't do any crafting yesterday and I also missed Knit Wits. I will try and work on DGDs afghan later. I would like to make an afghan for DD but that will be awhile.
Ruth, Happy Birthday. I hope you have a wonderful day. My DS has his b/day next Friday and DD has her b/day next Saturday they are 7 years apart. I had 3 children all born the same week in October. DGD #1 has her b/day 30th Oct. October is a popular B/day month. Sorry you are having to deal with the snow already. It is a lot cooler here though the sun is shining. I haven't been anywhere today and expect to stay home the rest of the day.
cj, I am sorry your pumpkin bread did not turn out as expected, pumpkin bread is so good. Hope it turns out better next time. Perhaps if you ground the oats up it would have a better texture. Making a list of projects is a smart idea, something I should do.
I have to go and take care of DD.

Happy Saturday!
Ruth, happy happy birthday!! Even though you do not celebrate in a large way, I hope that you have enjoyed your day and that you were made to feel special. You are a special friend to each of us here.
Meg, hope that you enjoyed your visit with Dd. Sometimes its good to have a down day- and I am sure you will get to knit wits next week.
CJ- great idea getting a list set up of all the projects that you want to take on. I wonder if its a good idea to have your materials organized by project, so that all the supplies for one project are stored together. Not even sure if that is possible, but its an idea.
Mid day I felt pretty awfu;- and am not sure if I will go out tomorrow. I will try to get to church and see how it goes after that.
Hi To everyone.....hope Phyl is doing well Ginny

Thank you for the birthday wishes Ginny, I meant to post earlier than I hoped you felt better but I guess you don't. Is it still the cold or is it the tummy issues? Whichever it is I hope you do truly feel better soon and can enjoy your day off tomorrow before going back to work for the new week Well I did get the edging done on the sweater and will get to the sleeves soon. The strange think with this sweater is that although there's an edging around the rest of the sweater, there's no edging on the sleeves but I'm going to put one on anyway even though the pattern doesn't call for one. I think it's a great idea to get all the stuff together for a project. I'm going to have to try to do that with my crochet projects. Maybe put the yarn and the appropriate hook all in a tote bag together with a note indicating the pattern that it goes with. I don't have a printer so can't print out the pattern or I'd do that and put it in the bag also. Have a great evening everyone. Meg, I hope you enjoyed your visit with Janet. CJ, is today the day for the British bakeoff program you like to watch?

Good morning!
Ruth, I do think its a good idea to put an edging on the sweater sleeves - wonder why the pattern does not call fo it? Seems like you are flying through the sweater and getting it done very quickly.
Think I might be getting better- but last night I had to take cough syrup to stop the dry hacking cough that I get sometimes. My stomach seems to be settling down. We are supposed to go out with friends today- think I am going to go to church in a little bit and call it quits for the day. I have a long week of work ahead of me. I would take sick time but its Buster week and I sort of need to be there for that.(I am the person who wrote the Buster script for this year....)
time to take a shower. Ginny

Yes I can't imagine why they don't have an edging for the sleeves but I'm definitely going to do some. I didn't work on it anymore yesterday but will today and I should finish it.
Ginny, I think it's a very good idea to stay home after church and get some rest and get well before the new work week starts. What is Buster week?
This week now is forecast to be about 70 everyday. It will be a nice break before the cold weather gets here to stay. I do like winter though too. Aside from being concerned about pipes freezing it's nice to be able to sit and relax with my electric blanket on my lap while crocheting.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well today Ruth - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! Hope you had a great day. Can't believe you already have more snow, I'm glad you'll have some nicer weather in the week ahead. Your projects sound like they are really coming along. I'm like you and I like to have several things going on at once so I don't get bored. There was another Great British Baking Show on today, and I enjoyed watching it. Meg - Wow, 3 children born on dates in the same week in the same month, what a coincidence. October is a big birthday month in my family too. Sorry you missed your Knitting group, but I hope you enjoyed the visit with your DD. Ginny - I hope you are feeling better today. Hope you can get some rest for the day so you'll be ready for the week ahead. On my crafting supplies - I have stored them by type - such as quilt patterns, quilt kits, books, embroidery work, hand quilting work, applique, etc. Plus I have all my scraps organized by strips, squares, triangles and rectangles and doing these things has helped. I just need to stay on top of the main table in my sewing room, it gets out of control Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. For the pumpkin bread, I think you are all correct that I needed to ground up those oats better. The recipe called for all ingredients to go in the blender at the same time, but the oats were swamped by the pumpkin and I don't think that every mixed well. I made a small apple cake today and that was very good. I portioned it out and froze half of it to have later. I just love to bake and I've been working to find ways to fit that into my weekly food allowances. No crafting for me today, just enjoying relaxing. Take care everyone!

CJ, I love to bake too but when I make things I like I eat too much so I make peanut butter cookies and I make brownies also because I don't care for them. Dh loves them so I don't make them often because he has diabetes and shouldn't eat a lot of those type things.
It sounds as though you have all your craft supplies very nicely organized. I've been sitting here thinking of how I want to organize my cowl making that is picking which yarn for which pattern.
I know I've mentioned before that I recently found a granny square afgan I started years back hidden under my stash of fabric. The part that's done is made with bulky yarn. I'm seriously thinking of just leaving it the size it is, putting an edging on it and using the rest of that yarn, which is a lot, to make some of the cowls instead of finishing a very large granny square afgan.I only really need a lap size afgan to put on when I'm sitting here crocheting or on my laptop and I don't really even need that because I have my electric blanket that I normally use. I'm going to go out there in a minute to see just how big the afgan is right now. The completed afgan would be way too heavy to send to anyone as a gift. It's amazing how heavy those things are.
