We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Tweety boy was at it again. He is preparing to become president (well, maybe he isn't really preparing, who knows?) and he thinks it's most important to strike back (complete with lies) at criticism. He needs to grow a thicker skin. Can you imagine if President Obama had responded to all the ugly things, memes, reports (ugh, birthers) that were said against him? If you haven't heard Meryl Streep's speech last night at Golden Globes, it's worth a listen. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/awards/meryl-streep-takes-donald-trump-golden-globes-n704571

Lol pbnj thanks for sharing. I did see the award speech last night. She's hardly overrated and I agree he needs a tougher skin. As the soon-to-be "leader of the free world", he'll be at the sharp end of more sticks than anyone - it just goes with the territory. If he tweets about every negative comment, he'll never get anything done. Putting the obvious conflicts aside, I think its a huge mistake to ram through all these Senate confirmation hearings without proper financial disclosures and vetting. A lot of these picks....I just have no words. I'm still like WTF with the EPA choice and I just CAN'T with this Sessions. I see Megyn Kelly is now with NBC and Gretta Van Susteran with Msnbc at 6pm. More later

Thank You, Meryl Streep!
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt feelings and concerns in a dignified, gracious, and sensible way. Last night you were the voice of reason, common sense, and sanity. You're a thoughtful, beautiful, intelligent, and uppity woman. Listening to you made me feel proud to be an American, a Woman, and a Liberal.

Huff Post... Kellyanne Conway, a key adviser to Donald Trump who ran his 2016 campaign, defended the president-elect’s behavior by saying that journalists should “look at what’s in his heart.” CNN “New Day” host Chris Cuomo called out Trump for mocking a disabled New York Times reporter during a 2015 rally. But Conway insisted that’s not what he was doing. “That is not what he did and he has said that 1,000 times,” she said Monday morning. “Why can’t you give him the benefit of the doubt?” Cuomo shot back, “He can say it a million times but look at the video... he’s making a disgusting gesture on video.” “Why is everything taken at face value?” she asked. “You can’t give him the benefit of the doubt on this and he’s telling you what was in his heart, you always want to go with what’s come out of his mouth rather than look at what’s in his heart.”..."................ LOL...he has a heart? !!!!!! ??....ya, right!....Boy they are starting to have to dig pretty deep to find excuses for Tweetie's behavior that is verified on videos showing his own words & actions.

KAC is a human pretzel! I've never seen anyone twist and contort themselves to such a degree to have us believe we didn't see what we saw and hear what we heard. Its absurd!
Linda hope you're staying warm up there.

KAC is just what Tweetie needs, someone who knows what is in his heart. I think I will send her a MEMO and bring her up to speed.
MEMO: To KAC
What is in Dumpie's heart comes out his mouth.....gag him.

Hi, We had an extra 2 wonderful days with our boys because of that beautiful snow storm on Sat. The message came in from the airline just as they were backing up in the turnaround to leave, that the flight had been cancelled. Seven days total and already we miss them. Joyce- your life has been super full. So glad you found a good place that will care for your mom and dad, IMHO you made the right decision for everyone. (((hugs))) You are such a good daughter......and DH is a keeper. Criminy about your car, hit, then hit again....unflippen believable. Thank goodness no one was hurt. Linda- Your car got hit with Jason in it.....what is with these hit and run people....is there no honor any more? Birdie Pat- Yup......Pam is correct it is you............lol Did I mention that we have 4 pairs of Cardinals in the yard this winter? The males will line up on the garden posts a couple of times a day waiting for the feeder. Don't we just love Meryl Streep? She did herself proud and spoke for all of us. (well at least me) Did Tweetie's parents teach him not to make fun of the handicap and then lie like a cheap rug that he didn't do it? No matter how much money he has, or how much gilt and marble and porno gals he surrounds himself with he will never ever have the class and acceptance he soooooo craves. So where does he go for acceptance? www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-putin-wikileaks-help_us_5872ca85e4b099cdb0fd9db1“The difference used to be that whether you were a Republican or a Democrat, you didn’t want a foreign power intervening and corrupting our elections,” said Rick Wilson, a Republican consultant who worked for independent candidate Evan McMullin. “A normal candidate would no more have relished Putin’s help than he would have accepted the help of al-Qaeda.”

"A normal candidate" There you have it in a nut (happy consequence) shell.
Anne, sometimes even a snow storm is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm glad you had an extra 2 days. It sounds like everyone had a good time. I'm happy for you.

Winter is not my favorite season. I don't like to be cold and I don't like ice and snow. I don't like to drive, walk, or be in it at all. It's nice to look at from inside my warm house but that's about it. I don't like all that darkness either. I can take temps in the 30's. I'm not wild about this -20 thing though. Other than that I guess it's okay. lol.
However, I DO like Chuck Schumer. He's the man! lol.
