Good morning fellow crafters and welcome to a new week!!
Meg, glad you got to check in ......and I hope that your visit with Janet went well. I used to sort of do fly lady- but she was way too intense for me. Good ideas though...and she sure did help get me organized. Coming from a household where my mom was a horrible housekeeper, picking up discipline from the fly lady was a good idea for me.
Ruth, well the edging of those sleeves will wait until today.
Gotta get this busy day started. BBL Ginny

Good morning Ginny, thanks for starting us on a new week.I hope you're feeling well this morning...well it's not morning where you are so today.
I wonder who the 7 people are that viewed. Whoever you are come on in and join us for some crafting
Well I finally started a sleeve. It sure didn't look right so I pulled it out and reread the pattern again and started over. I sure didn't want to have the whole thing done and not be able to get the sleeves. so I tried again a couple times and I finally got it. It would help if I paid more attention to directions beside the fact that I was confused about which spaces she meant to be crocheted into. I realized later though that if I hadn't got the sleeves to work and could revise enough to make them work with my own ideas I could just make an edging around the openings for the sleeves and call it a vest. I hope the second sleeve will work too. I just have to remember how I started the first one. Once the first row is correct it's fine after that.
Nice day here. It's probably upper 50's right now. Dh actually got a little sleep during the night so I thought he might want to go out but he hasn't mentioned it so I won't because I really don't feel like going anywhere today. Of course then it would be done for at least a week. Oh well. I do want to get some veggies because friend sent the old WW recipe for soup. Not that a person really needs a recipe for that but it gave me the idea. I need more veggies.I like thick soups so I'll puree some if not all of it.
Well gonna go get started on some things. Have a great day all

I looked up Flylady and her first two commands are that you keep your sink shiny and get dressed fully first thing every morning including lace up shoes. Well neither of those are going to happen..My sink is nice and clean but not shiny and I'm not going to get fully dressed and esp not shoes

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I've heard of that FlyLady too, and also the sisters. I may sound organized, but there is a big chunk of my life (and house) that is a disaster zone Over the years I'd even thought about bringing in a professional organizer to help me get rid of the things I don't really need. But I hate the idea of someone looking at my "stuff", so I'll never do it. Ruth - Lacing up my shoes every morning is not going to happen for me either - I love going around the house in my stocking feet. And I think half the enjoyment of being retired is being able to wear comfortable clothes around the house. Ginny - Thanks for the offer of the recipes. I don't really care for bananas, but I'll enjoy seeing the Blueberry Muffin recipe. Buster does sound interesting, I'm sure the kids love it (him). Meg - Did you see where the hurricane hit Ireland today? They say that is very rare. I'm glad you're getting some work in on your afghan. Phyl - Hope you're feeling well. I went to JoAnn Fabrics today and bought the small size Clover YoYo maker, since I didn't have that size and I bought several YoYo patterns at one of the recent quilt shows. I'd like to make some of those. I had a coupon for 60% off fabric, but only the ones not on sale - well every quilting fabric was on sale! I don't know why they even offer a coupon for that, they always have all their fabric on sale, so you can never use it. Take care everyone!

hi, who wants to get dressed first thing in the am? espaically is they don't have to go out? I could have stayed In my pj's longer if jeana would have told me Hannah did not have school today. I sorta suspected this month there would be a day or two of no school. guess I better look the website up.
been down In my playpen. got a few things ready for sit and sew. seems to me I should have one or two more things, can't figure out what.
I did go back to the quilt shop and talked to mugs about working with wool. found out a few things I will have to let Theresa know about.
mugs never washes her wool. she will not use those fabric sticks. when ironing she always uses steam and a pressing sheet.s he uses heatbond lite. after the project is done then you can wash it if it is soiled. I really need to practice embroidery if I want to do felt. phyl

I agree completely CJ, and Phyl. I sure don't want to get dressed first thing and I do think retirement is for being comfortable. For 43 years I had to wear uniforms everyday then scrubs. No they weren't uncomfortable but the were restricting and unlike a lot of other people I always made sure mine were ironed.
I don't do the Flylady sink thing because she tells you to fill your sink and put in a cup of bleach. I have a septic so I can't use bleach. I'm really careful about what goes into my drains because of that. I usually use baking soda to scour my sinks and bathtubs.
I've been wasting a lot of time today. I just can't seem to get myself going on anything although I did get a couple things done as far as housework is concerned.
Phyl, have a good time at sit and sew tomorrow.
CJ, have you asked about those coupons? Since they always have the fabric on sale maybe they will honor the coupon.Sometimes stores and businesses will do it if the customer asks.

So now I see that Red Heart has put out a new yarn called Dreamy. It's a brushed acrylic. Wouldn't that be just like Dazzelaire? The discontinue some yarns and next thing you know they're bringing back the same thing with a different name.

Hello everyone,
Ginny, many thanks for starting a new week. I hope you are feeling better today. I don't think I ever truly followed Fly Lady. I picked out the parts I liked. It does feel better to get dressed first thing but I do enjoy a lazy day when I do not get dressed. As for lacing up my shoes well I wear Buster Brown boy's sandals 99% of the time. I have a short broad foot and I can wear a boys size 5 sandal. They are very comfortable I also wear my slippers a lot around the house. I agree that the discipline was good and that's what I need.
Ruth, It would be great if those who view our posts would join us. I am glad you got the sleeve sorted out. I just don't enjoy following patterns any more probably because of my eye sight. I have noticed that most patterns have the instructions written in small print which is hard for me to read. I sent an e-mail to Lyons recently because they print their patterns in very small print then leave most of the page empty and I suggested that they use larger print. They will probably ignore me. I am glad your DH got some sleep last night and I hope you did to. I have been thinking about making some soup. I don't use a recipe I just use what I have on hand so it always turns out a wee bit different. But I love soup
cj, Thanks for letting me know about the hurricane in Ireland. I will have to check with my family over there. I don't remember that ever happening. Though they get lots of rain and wind. I can be organized about some things but I find it difficult to keep up. Sorry your 60% coupon didn't help. All the craft stores have a sale but already have marked down their popular items so that you cannot use your coupon.
Phyl, I haven't knit anything with wool in years. Years ago I used wool for everything as they didn't have all the blends they have now. Taking care of wool is a lot of trouble. Hope you have a lot of fun at sit & sew.
I did work on my afghan last evening and it is coming along nicely. It is going to be a large afghan so it will take awhile to complete.

well obviously I don't know what I'm talking about. Red Heart wasn't the company that made Dazzelaire.
Meg, I never follow a recipe either and told my friend that sent me the recipe that I'd make it but there would be a lot added and some things deleted. I appreciated the recipe though because it gave me good ideas.
I never use wool either because ddil washes everything all together and the wool things would all shrink. I do have one skein of wool but I don't know what I'll do with it. Places where you donate don't want wool either because of the shrinkage issue. I think Phyl might have been referring to using wool fabric to quilt. I wouldn't do that either. The wool skein I have is a strange color blue so I couldn't use it to make dh a hat either because he wouldn't like the color and I don't ever wear hats.
I did a tiny bit done on one sleeve but keep setting it down

Well I thought I had it figured out but then after I did a few rows I realized I didn't after all. It just doesn't make sense. For one thing, in the third row it says sc in the first dc but there is no dc. I set it aside and will work on it some other time. Guess dgd just won't get it for her birthday and it really wasn't intended to be a birthday present anyway so that's fine but it's frustrating. and it's not like it's a designer that you can post a comment to and ask about it because it's a Red Heart pattern and nowhere to put comments or questions. Phooey. And dh picks this time when I'm already frustrated and trying to figure this out to deflate an air mattress that has been inflated for a month and asking me questions about where I want it put where's the other one and other unneccessary questions...don't ask me questions like that when I'm trying to figure out something...blahhhhhhh. Ok I vented. Now he's quiet. Why do men always pick times when you're busy to start asking you dumb things.

Ruth. well don't you know that we are supposed to always be available to listen to whatever they want to talk about but we mustn't interrupt them. grr! I hope you can figurer out this pattern. It doesn't make a lot of sense. I would hate to spend hours working on a sweater and then get stuck like this. I need to go and work a few rows on the afghan. I bought the yarn at Hobby Lobby and it is nice yarn and nice and soft I just hope it wears well. I have never bought any of their yarn before.

Good Afternoon!!
Dazzleaire was made by Caron. No, I am not a yarn expert, but do remember that Dazzleaire used to be sold in the company store of a firm I used to work for.....so I bought a LOT of it, 30 years ago.
Meg, let me know how that HL yarn works out. I was in their store twice in the past couple of months and saw that they had their own name yarn, which seemed very soft and great colors but I was Leary about buying. Were you able to get some time in on the afghan? Think the fly lady was best when we all picked and chose what worked best.....it was way too much work to be on it all the time. Again for me, coming from a disjunctional household (my mom was fun but insanely disorganized) I needed help. Big time help. Fly lady helped me. And now she can fly away......ha ha ha
Ruth- well, I hear ya about Dh and disruptions. Take a deep breath, dear friend.........and thank the Lord you still have each other. I know you do. Were you able to figure out the issue with the sweater?
CJ- I will probably end up scanning and emailing the blueberry muffin recipe to you. As usual congrats on getting some great deals at Joanns!
Phyl- you stated it so eloquently, who wants to get up out of bed and get dressed in a rush? (My Dh!). Probably a good idea to go on the school web site and transfer the school closed dates on your calendar...its a pain but worth the effort.
Got a few minutes of crocheting in last night. And got to chat with my DSIL in Fla about our current projects- so that does indeed count as crafting!!
Have a great day all Ginny

I'm just taking a quick break after getting home from the grocery stores and carrying in bags. Next will be putting away everything.
Ginny, you're sure right about that. I do thank the Lord that I still have my sweetie even if he is annoying at times. Right now he's putting away some things while I type. IN fact he just came in the living room and said most things are put away but he's talking about the things that go into the freezer. So now I can take my time and put away the rest of the stuff.
Meg, you're right about the interrupting thing too.
No I didn't figure out the problem with the sleeves yet. I did send Red Heart an email but I don't really expect to get much help if any at all.
I got up really early this morning and went right out to shop so I may need a nap later.Of course my really early is not like you're early, Ginny
Well guess I'll get busy so see you later

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Lots of yarn talk, which is interesting to read. When I was in JoAnn's I saw a new Bernat Blanket Yarn that was designed to crochet/knit out in stripes. It looked interesting.
I've been doing yard work for a few days so no time for any crafting. The weather is nice and sunny but cool.
Take care everyone!

hi, yes I was talking about felted wool. iti s used for wall hangings and you can use it in quilts. no sit and sew today. I was awake before 4 and climbed out of bed by 4.30. so I stayed home.
I have been In my playpen. didn't get much done. think I made a bigger mess then getting something done.
I did finish one quilting one top for one of my sewing chests.
I feel like a nap. why this time of day. PHYL
