Hello, Goals for Monday,
A bad travel day here with ice on roads, sidewalks, trees. I think my brain has ice on it and I'm moving slow. Just rain right now but colder areas are dangerous. Ramps are backed up going on and off the interstates.
Breakfast will be an experience again. Hope your day is starting out well.
How are your goals coming along? My minor goal is to keep away from sweets. I'm doing good with that one. Bread is chasing me.
BBL - have a safe day. Sandy, is Ozzie gaining weight?

Good Morning Goals, How are we doing so far? Yesterday I did not declutter anything. Weighed this morning and am back to where I started the month. Trying to meet Cat's challenge, but it sure is hard at this stage in life.
Waiting for a call back as to time to come pee in a cup. Restless night and up several times. Hoping to get in early and get away to make that drive to be with Trace. 3 hours. How I dread it.
The picture I tried to put up on Partners was from my email. It seems one can't do that. I could see it but others could not so I deleted it.
Went to church yesterday morning and lunch with a friend. That was the extent of my day. Ended up going to bed shortly after 8. So tired lately. Course I was awake real early and up about 5:30.
I always read the night's posts but I have already forgotten what I wanted to say.
Thanks, Cat, for keeping the thread going.
Have a Goal keeping Monday. DECLUTTER Lucy

Hi! Thanks, Cat, for being up and at 'em this morning! Hope you have a good breakfast this morning! Lucy, isn't it frustrating to fall asleep early and then wake up so early? Today I was awake at 5:45, and thought I had slept in. Sigh... We will have much warmer temps this week, and then a cool down at the end of the week with possible snow on Saturday. If it arrives, it probably won't accumulate. Today I will pick up my photos and try to finish my own 2016 book. As I work, I WILL clear the tiny scraps off the table! I may do some hands-on pages for the gift books this year. Just a few to vary the experience.
Have a happy day, friends! Diane

Good Morning Cat and Goals,
This morning it was 18Âş (feels like 9Âş) and going up to 39Âş and mostly cloudy with wind E 6 mph today. I got a shock when I looked at the weather on my phone and it said our high would be -3. I asked King about the big change and he looked at it and said for some reason it flipped over to centigrade and he put it back the way it should be. This looks much better to me.
It’s back to our normal schedule of school for the girls and King will be going in for his first day of work today.
Maxine calendar today: These days, people spend lots of time and money on the perfect wardrobe … and that’s just for their dogs.
Another Japan memory: I’m continuing from yesterday aboard the SS America Transport ship crossing the Pacific Ocean. We had beautiful sunny weather for 9 days. On the tenth day the captain told us we would be going further north than the usual route because he was taking us that way to avoid a typhoon. In the afternoon we started noticing that the waves were getting bigger and the wind stronger. We were advised not to walk the decks more than necessary so we spent most of the day in the lounge where we could read or play games or cards in our cabins. The captain told us it wouldn’t get any worse than it was and we just had choppy waves at that point. Because we had to take a different route it took a day longer than the usual trip and we arrived in Yokohama harbor in the evening after dark and too late to go through customs. We had to stay on the ship in the harbor overnight and we could hear some of the sounds of Japan like the vendors going around with their carts calling “udon” (bowls of noodles) for sale. The air was very still after the typhoon had gone through and there was no breeze to cool us with the temperature in the 90s. More tomorrow.
Staying at Goal Doris NE January Goal: Stay at or below goal weight 199/144.8/146

Dianne, the forecast looks like just rain for the end of the week. Looks like they removed the chance of cold enough for ice or snow. Where in OK are you? I am just across the river off US 75. Denison.
No call yet from Dr. Office. I don't need to see a dr. Just want a confirmation that I do or do not still have UTI. I am getting paranoid. Everything is packed and I am pulling out about one regardless. Trace's mom is an RN working on PA. Think she will have that in May.
Doris, we were typing at the same time. Love your Japan memories.

I don't seem to be doing very good in the two pound challenge. I lose a half pound, then gain it back, over and over. I guess I haven't been strict enough. I'll keep trying.
Not raining at the moment. 'I've not heard anything about our roads yet. Not sure if they are still flooded.
Cat sure hope you get a good breakfast.
Be back later.

Good morning, friends!
Cat, thanks for getting up and getting us going in the mornings. I just saw that they are calling the rains that are traveling up your way something like an "atmospheric river." (Jenny and Pat may be more in the way of that "river" than you. It's frozen when it reaches Portland!) I also saw a report that the famous Giant Sequoia Drive Through Tree is a casualty of these storms -- it fell over. I wonder what they served you for breakfast today. Seems like they should have a plan for weather emergencies. How many folks are in your facility?
Doris, love those Japan stories! So glad the captain of the ship had the sense to miss the typhoon! I just thought about the ship last year that sailed right into the hurricane. I don't think it was a passenger ship though.
Today is laundry day and back and forth with odds-and-ends errands. Will purchase the fabric to make my Mom's slacks that she needs. I think it will be faster to make 5 pair than order them from a catalog, wait for them to arrive, then remove the elastic in the waist and make the waist like she wants. If my arthritic thumb holds out (using scissors is a pain), I can cut them out, sew them up and have them done in one or two days. I used to have a pair of electric scissors that I purchased at a garage sale. Wonder where they are. Hmm.
BBL to see what's happening with you!
Lucy, safe travels! Know you are frustrated with the lab for not calling -- could you just p** in a jar and take it to them?
Molly

Good morning. Seems like it should be afternoon, I've been up a long time. Much warmer here today. At least above 0. I've had Ozzie out a couple of times and he doesn't really like it but have to get him use to it.
I like the Japan stories too. Nice to hear about places I've never been and probably will never get to. That would be a very interesting thread. Everyone could tell us something about where they live. So many places I haven't been I would love hearing about other parts of the country. Anyone like the idea. I'll be glad to start it.
Another week starting with rehab this afternoon.
Have a good day. Suppose to snow here today and tomorrow. Not a huge amount but probably enough to make things nasty on the roads

It is Bettyj with Ozzie. Sandy has the magic two. Bailey and Bridgett!
I like Bettyj's idea. Tell a bit about your home area. Oregon is beautiful. The fruit is wonderful. It rains a lot. It is an outdoor place. But winter is wet unless it turns cold and the ski areas love it. I left the desert of New Mexico and I'm still glad. It is almost three years (in May).
Everyone showed up for breakfast. They live close by, I guess.
Molly, 130 folks when full. We had sausage links, eggs cooked to order and raisin toast (one slice). They change it daily and you can order each day.

I am waiting on a call from the furnace tech so not going out today. The furnace is still running but it sure makes a lot of horrible loud noise. It is 18° but that is in the sun, Feels like 5°. Not much wind today. Tonight we have alerts for freezing mix of rain, sleet, snow. That will be tough for those driving to work tomorrow. Then a warm up starts with mostly rain. and temps in the high 40°'s and 50's on Thursday. That is the day I get my hair colored. Then will be good for 6 weeks.
Little bit about me and my area. I am a widow, 16 years now, have 2 daughters and one DSIL that live in the area and 2 DGDs and 3 DGSs that are young adults and a bit scattered around. don't get to see a couple of them as much as I would like but we do stay in touch. the area of WPa that I live in used to be a big industrial area and that is what brought us here after my DH got out of the Army at the end of 1963. Now those steel plants are closed, as are the RR Car building plants. We do still have a couple of train tracks that are busy with moving coal and not sure what else. Small farming community and a quite a few Amish. Not a large settlement but a small one and then quite a few have moved in the area to farm. Love all the fresh produce and apples in the fall, strawberries in the spring and other berries all summer. Large dairy farms and some raising beef cattle. There are several interstates that are very busy with 18 wheelers so our highways are constantly in the orange barrel season all year around. especially now that they do do cold patching. Ohio is only a few miles west of us, also farming area. some industry in that area also. We have several colleges in the area and of course a few Universities. Big football, baseball, basketball and wrestling area , close to Cleveland and also Pittsburgh. Rolling hills and close to the Allegheny Mountain area. so couple Ski resorts not too far away. We do get dumped on with lake effect snows a lot of time, and what they call Canadian clipper winter storms, but also have tornadoes in the spring. We do have strange weather patterns. I think it is a beautiful area, with lots of flowering shrubs and trees in the spring and summer. lot of dams and lakes and camping areas, fall is gorgeous with all the colors of the leaves that you can imagine, and then winter with the pure white beautiful snow . All the plus makes the minus easier to take.

I am not going anywhere today. Told Trace's mom I will shoot for tomorrow. Feel like yuk. Ate crackers a bit ago to keep from upchucking. There is a stomach bug going around.
A little about where I live. As you know, Texas is big and could be divided into 5 states. North TX, South TX, East TX, West TX, and Central TX. Each area is different in more ways than one. I live in North TX, a stone's throw from Red River. Our weather reports a lot of times say, "north of the river blah, blah, blah, and south of the river blah, blah, blah. The river is sort of a barrier. Since I am so close I can get a spill over that just a few miles south does not experience. Also, the weather forecasters talk about the I-35 corridor. It also divides the weather east and west of it. I have a sister who lives a crows fly from that corridor. So she can get a spill over that 'stops' along west of the corridor.
My 2 oldest grands live in west TX. Driving out there one goes from big trees like grow here to sparse pastures and mesquite trees where you can see a long way. Windmills. My DD lives near FT Worth which can be different from either area. Son lives in East TX amongst the Pines. It is referred to as 'behind the Pine Curtain'. They have milder winters than here and this last cold spell was colder than they have seen since they moved down there in '08. There was ice on their swimming pool. They often drive to Shreveport LA for a good restaurant to get seafood.
Before I moved here in 83 I lived in what is called North Central. It is crazy to those of you that can drive across your state in a few hours to think about how long it takes to get across TX. We talk in time not distance.
We deal with tornado season and tornadoes out of season also. Summers run in the 3 digit temperatures. I don't usually turn on my A/C until 90 and only then if it is too humid for comfort. Winters are not bad in my neck of the woods, but they swing back and forth. We usually don't get single digits except maybe one night. It is not unusual to have a winter with no snow at all. Ice is more apt to be. So we do not have the road equipment to deal with snow are ice. Enough.
