Phyl, I hope you sleep better too. You've mentioned a Delona that you go "bummim" with. Is that a sister too? And what fun to meet a total stranger on a bus trip and become such good friends. That sure worked out well. You do seem to have a fun and interesting life.

Yes CJ you do sound super organized! What I love about it is that you are planning on using what you have. The beauty of that is that should you need to buy some fabric to supplement what you have, then you will really need that- and I always find it easier to buy fabric when there is a goal in mind. See, I can justify that trip to Joanns! Ruth, The instructions are a bit long, but I do think I can (by eliminating fluff pages) get it down to around 35 pages. (It sounds long, but remember she really walks you through every step making the process easy to follow.). Remember, I made my double Irish Chain with no help- I had no quilting buddies then to ask for advice. I just followed her instructions. I will figure out the best way to get this to you- Dd's printer also scans so perhaps I can electronically get it it you also. Got a few more minutes on the afghan done last night. Roads were all black ice this am. No fun driving on at all. Have a good day and stay safe! Ginny

Good morning everyone, It is Wed and we are 1/2 way through the week already,. I just took Devin to school and later I think I will be going to do my big grocery shopping when DS comes home from work.
I didn't do any knitting yesterday but I will try today. I am trying to use the yarn in my stash and just buy yarn that I need for a project. I used to buy yarn because it was on sale and I had so much yarn taking up a lot of space.
Ginny, I think it would be scary driving on black ice. I hope you don't have to. Good to hear that your afghan is progressing .
We had a lot of rain and wind yesterday but no rain this morning and just a gentle wind. I do see big black clouds in the sky so I am sure we will get more rain. We do need the rain to replace all the ground water we lost during the drought.
Have a wonderful day and be safe.

Good afternoon! MEg, it's so good to hear that your state is slowly getting out of the drought. I am hoping for lots of days of gentle rain.....your area sorely needs it! Hope that you can get some knitting time in today. And I really hope that you get some help bringing in the groceries!
It was cold here this am- therefore the black ice- but now it's in the 40's, which almost feels spring like.
Okie dokie gotta get my reading done for tomorrow's Bible study. Have a great day all! Ginny

Ginny, it's so nice of you to go to all this trouble. If it's too much work or too much printing please don't feel obligated. I know how that is. And do be careful out there. I hate driving on ice. One night back when I was working I was driving home from work after midnight and it's very hilly here so I slid on the hill...going down...and spun in circles and the whole time praying that I wouldn't be left brain dead from a head injury. Well I ended up going between a stop sign that was on a very heavy post and a tree and another tree branch broke thru the passenger window and lifted up the dash and I went between two more trees and almost into the house that was there but I was not injured at all and except for that window and dash and a few scrapes even the van wasn't damaged. There were many prayers of thanks sent after that.So anyway, please be careful and as I always told my kids, watch out for the other guy. We know how to drive but so often others don't and run into us.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I agree with you on using the fabric I already have. It's been fun to look through it again and start assigning it to projects Hope you have safe travels on the ice. That can be so dangerous. Our weather is warmer today and supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow, maybe you'll get some of that from us down here in the Mid-Atlantic. Meg - I'm trying to use yarn from my stash too, hope you have loads of pretty yarn to pick from. Ruth - that driving incident sounded scary, I'm glad you were O.K. Phyl and Gail - Hope you are doing well today. Today is the 4th quilt block of the 182 Day Soltisce Quilt Challenge. I already made mine, it was quick and easy. I hope all the blocks will be as easy as these first four were. In case you want to see the blocks others are making, here's the webpage - just scroll down aways to see the pattern and then pictures of blocks people have done so far. I love the pink and white ones at Block #30. Looking at the pictures make me want to make more blocks in different fabrics www.ilovetomakequilts.com/Take care everyone.

I had a reply all set but guess I forgot to hit the send button.
CJ, i went to the site....oh what beautiful blocks. I especially love block 3. Some people did pick some strange colors but they are mostly all beautiful! I'd like to see them in a while quilt top and see how they go together. I imagine there are infinite choices of how you can do that, from make all the blocks the same colors or in different colors that contrast well. and also in combining them with the other blocks.. It seems like choices would be endless and wonderful.
A couple years ago I was actually making something like that although I had no idea it was a quilt block. I was making a small flannel baby blanket and it was put together like that except that...well it's hard to explain but you endied up making it so that when done it was like a quilt but with not batting...kind of a quilt as you go thing. You held two pieces on on each side of the piece before and added them just like you do in that block #3. Then you sewed a binding around it. I never finished it. It was going to be for my dgs that turned 3 at the end of October. I should have finished it for one of the great grands that were born in Sept and Oct but I didn't. I don't even know why. I do know that I must have had my iron too hot because in pressing one part it kind of melted the flannel a little in a small spot. I don't know how that happened because I did have the iron the same as I always do. Maybe it was something in the fabric. So I guess it was an extended version of one block #3

Last year the ladies at church made banners for the church seasons. I have the supplies here at my house and today dug them out and made enough to complete the rest of 3 more sets, Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. I think we started with 36 sets given out in two parts and some people didn't pick up the second set so I decided to make the missing parts and likely will offer them at our bazaar next fall or give to new church members. The rest of the set is for the first day of Pentecost/reformation, Good Friday, Easter and Pentecost. They are made of felt and put together with a glue gun so not too difficult to make although a little putzy. I printed out some patterns for chemo hats so I can make a few for a friend who wants to give some to a friend of hers who is undergoing chemo right now. I may get them made this evening and get them in the mail by Friday.

Gail, chemo caps are fast and easy to make and bless you for doing that for your friend's friend. i know she'll be happy to have them.
Phyl, I have to look that churn dash one up again. I know I saw one with a picture in the center and also thought it would be a good one for a baby quilt and that's what I want to make is baby quilts. Way back about 24 years ago someone gave my dd a baby quilt made with Precious Moments fabric. It was just so beautiful. I can't really even remember now what the pattern was but I do remember how nice it was. I'm thinking of my Charlie Brown fabric and that one of the pictures in that fabric would be perfect for the center or the one you mentioned.
I've been on the phone with an old friend from the WW board for a couple hours. I don't normally like to talk on the phone but she's special so she's an exception to my phone phobia. So I haven't gotten anything done so far this evening that I planned to get done but I don't care because I love talking with her. It's only just after 8 so I still have time to get some things done. and I'll carry my list over to tomorrow which is nothing new for me. I did start dgd's hat that I'm making her along with the shawl for her bd...other gifts too of course. No little child wants just a hat and shawl from Gramma.Gotta be a toy or two or three in there too or a little piece of jewelry with the toys. For tonight I don't know if I'll continue with the hat or put the finishing touches on the shawl and her brother's beard hat.
Have a great night all. See you after I get home from errands tomorrow...

Good afternoon!
Yes, Ruth, you do have to get into quilting! Start small and easy.....and it will come to you quickly.
CJ- I agree that persons use of pinks /prints and white is charming. Do you have any of your work on that web site?
Gail- how large are the church banners? I have seen some really pretty ones....glue gun construction is wonderful too! How are the chemo hats made?
Phyl- you are making progress.....got some coloring done, a new phone- were you able to get the Fitbit working? (I love mine!)
Hey, does anyone have instructions to make Pom poms that will not fall apart if washed? I will look online also....
Hi Meg!
Busy day for me. BBL Ginny

It is a wet Thursday here, not a heavy rain at the moment. There is flooding in some areas but not close to me. We didn't have rain yesterday which allowed the water to soak onto the ground.
I did get a few inched done on the b/blanket that I am knitting last night as I listened to an audio book. I am knitting the diagonal blanket. There is a picture of it on the Lion Brand web site, pattern number 81024AD. I have changed the pattern slightly. I use 2 strands of yarn and I measure along the side edge to get the size I want. The pattern says to increase to 160 stitches but I find it easier to measure the side edge. Most of my blankets are 32x32. I have knit dozens of b/blankets using this diagonal pattern. It is just a very basic beginners pattern. For me it is easy to knit up to donate. I do other patterns some knit or crocheted.
Gail, that is great that you use your crafting skills to make banners for your church. I would never be able to do anything like that. I have made lots of items for the Craft Fair which we no longer have unfortunately. I am sure your friend will appreciate the chemo caps.
Phyl, the coloring books look like fun and I think it would be a great way to relax. My DGD#1 was very good at art in high school but when she went to college and later went to work she stopped her art work. So I bought her art supplies and a coloring book hoping she would get interested again. She moved to Florida last May and when I talked to her on the phone she mentioned she was using her coloring book. When she was a little girl she would sit and color for hours. I think it is great that they now have coloring books for adults.
Ginny, I do know how to make pom poms but I don't know whether they would with stand washing. I suppose if you washed them by hand and were very gentle they would not fall apart. I haven't mader pom poms for years.
Ruth, your DGKids do keep you busy would you have time to do quilting. Of course instead of knitting for them you could make them quilts. Are you good with a sewing machine?
cj, hope you are having a good day'
I will check back later.
Now I need to go and unload the dishwasher and Devin gets out of school early today. We are having another wet day but here in Ca. we will take all the rain we can get... just not all at once.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. I've enjoyed reading about all your projects and I'm glad you enjoyed checking out the blocks for the 182 Solstice Quilt Challenge. I'll try to remember to post the link each week, so you can see the new blocks. Ginny - Unfortunately none of my blocks are posted on there, I'm technologically challenged I don't have a smart phone but I do have a digital camera that I guess I could take pictures with and then transfer them to my computer and then post them to the website, but I guess I'm too lazy to do that! Hope you can find a good pom-pom to make. Gail - The church banners sound like a nice project and I'm sure they'll look beautiful in your church. How nice of you to make the chemo hats too. Meg - Glad you aren't getting that heavy rain, and hopefully just get enough that you need. I checked out the blanket patter on the Lion Brand website and it does look like a nice, easy pattern. What color is yours? Phyl - How wonderful to have a close friend like that. I hope you have many more years to do fun things together. Ruth - I really enjoy your changing avatars - the snow falling one is cute Hope you got all your errands done today. I didn't get to any crafting today, I may try to look through some more books later. Tomorrow is Finish It Friday, so I hope to work more on the shamrock applique. I'm going to have to practice with a few first before I try to put one on my quilt. Take care everyone!
