Good morning!
Meg, hope that you were able to sleep better last night. Sometimes it take two bad nights of sleep in a row to get me tired enough for a really good night of rest. With as much as you read, its a good idea to have a long list of authors. Good thing that many are very prolific writers- to keep avid readers like you stocked with good stories. Hope Devin and his mom had a good night out for Halloween.
Ruth, well they could hold the sweater for someone to grow up enough to wear, right? Glad that everything is all wrapped - now you can send the package off! Pineapple upside down cake is so good- I have not made that in many years.
An old story and then I have to go to work. I make cranberry bread and date nut loaf for thanksgiving. When my mom was still with us and living at her home, a 70 minute drive from here, i would give her a ton of leftovers so she did not have to cook for a few days. The 4 or 5 slices of cranberry bread and date nut bread almost never made it to her house as she would snack all the way home! It was our little joke, how many miles the breads lasted in her journey.
For many years we have known that school buses were soft targets for terrorism. Sad statement, but true. Hi to Phyl and CJ Hope I have the energy to sew tonight. GInny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - That's a sweet story about your mother and the cranberry bread and date nut loaf - how nice to have those memories. Hope today is a little less busy for you and you feel like sewing tonight. How exciting to know about your new granddaughter. The Raisin Tea Loaf had 36 Momentum points and I portioned it into 9 pieces, so 4 points a piece. I'll have to see how the frozen ones work out when I thaw one later this month. I was thinking this would be a good bread to use in a bread pudding. Meg - I hope you got your furnace serviced. I've usually had mine done by now but I've been putting off calling to set up the appointment. Hope you are enjoying a book and doing some crafting. Ruth - We don't get any trick or treaters anymore either, but I wouldn't open the door if we did, it's just not safe anymore where I live. Hope you are working on some projects too. Phyl - Hope you're doing well and getting in some crafting. I pulled out one of my hand quilting projects today. I'd really like to do at least a few stitches each day. I could finish this piece in a few weeks that way. Hopefully I'll get to it. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
CJ- good thinking that this bread would work out well for bread pudding. What about using it for a stuffed French toast- which of course would be high in points. You could stuff it by using two thin slices- and a thin coating of cream cheese in between and grilling the whole thing. Dunno, just an idea.
Ok crochetters- I have a dilemma. A coworker gave me a shawl made by her mother in law that has a small pull in the bottom edge. Its made with that darned homespun yarn. I have found the pull- no stitches seem to be pulled out, but there are two loops of yarn, neither has a yarn ending- these two loops seem to go together to close the small opening. How do I repair this for her?

CJ, I think that bread would make a great bread pudding and also the french toast that Ginny mentioned. I'm glad you don't open your door to strangers. Here it's very safe but if I were alone I still wouldn't open my door unless I knew the person that's there. You are smart to be very careful.
Ginny, Homespun is horrible to work with but the fuzziness of it covers many imperfections. Does she have any of the yarn that it was made with? Of so I would do ( I did this on my cowl I made the other day with the puff stitches because I found a loop that has escaped) take a piece of yarn and join it right there by the pull using a yarn needle then go thru those loops that are loose...make a knot since that won't show with homespum, and then weave in the ends of the piece you used. That should hold everything in place and it shouldn't show. At least from just hearing about the problem that is my suggestion. Now if she doesn't have any of the yarn you could so the same with just a piece of thread. Depends on the pattern really. If it's a shawl with open spaces it may not cover but I do think it would. I have an afgan that my dh's grandmother made all of small granny squares. Where she joined the squares is coming apart. I'm not sure how to fix that but I haven't looked at it in years and know more now than I did then so maybe I can do it. I really don't like the afgan much but since his grandmother made it I kept it all this time.
We were out today for quite awhile shopping at Walmart then two grocery stores. Dh wanted to look at Halloween candy. I didn't find any that I like which is a good thing probably. I was exhausted when I got home so rested for a short time then was able to put things away, pork roast in slow cooker and a chicken in the oven. I'll throw in some yams and carrots to roast soon. Mailed the package to grandchildren and ds. Postage is getting ridiculous. Luckily what I paid is for three birthdays and the blanket for the new little guy who should arrive any day now.
One of my favorite cashiers at the grocery store is an Eeyore fan and I had a flashlight that is a small Eeyore so I took it to her. She loved it. Poor woman has put up with all my questions about why things didn't ring up right so she deserved a gift.
Didn't get much done on my cowl last night. I did some ready and wasted time playing computer games while dh snoozed. Should have been crocheting.

Ginny, what a nice memory of your dear mother. I would have been just like her and had the bread all eaten by the time I got home

I almost forgot the most disappointing thing of all at Walmart. They don't have Red Heart with Love yarn anymore! Online it costs way more.I'm not happy

Good morning!! Ruth- try anyone- Michales, Joanns, AC Moore, amazon for that Lion brand yarn. I agree that stinks that Walmart no longer carries it in the store. This is going to sound dumb but I will most likely be in Walmart this weekend- want me to check? Of course I would have to ship it to you- but we can deal with that later. Yarn is important, you know! . Great advice on what to do with the poncho- and oddly enough with all the homespun I gave away, I have a small amount of that color left over and will repair the poncho with that- using your idea on how to do it. Off to work- then my annual mammogram. Have a blessed day all! Ginny

Hey Phyl, there must have been something in the air this am, I woke up at 4 also. (As opposed to my usual 4:30). Hope that you can reset your body clock- My Fitbit had a great little article on getting a steady sleep cycle. They did say not to use caffeine to stay up if you are sleep deprived, but instead to go for a 10 minute walk to revive the body. Also daylight/sunlight, but if you are having all that rain it will be difficult. Hope today goes well for you otherwise. Ginny

Hello to all. Good thing we went shopping yesterday. I had suggested today because it was to be almost as warm but no wind. So today we woke to snow on the ground and much colder than predicted.
Thank you all for the suggestions on where to find the yarn. Phyl, I saw they had a sale at the Red Heart site but not on the With Love yarn. At my Walmart it was $2.97 whereas online the cheapest was nearly $4 plus shipping and it was much more other places. Ginny, you don't know how much I appreciate you offering to look at the yarn at your Walmart but I don't actually need any I just wanted more. Thank you so very much. You are a wonderful, thoughtful person and so are the others here. The walmart online site was one place I looked and that yarn at the store price is only available by pickup and they said "this is not available at any Walmart store within 50 miles of your location" Oh well I'll just use the yarn I have and find another nice soft one to use.I do have some metallic in my shopping cart on Amazon but the white is considerably higher in price. The ones in my cart are addons so I have to have over $25 in items shipped by Amazon to get them so will have to wait and by then it may not be available but that's ok actually.I was going to use the white mettalic to make the fingerless gloves that dd said she was going to sell but that probably wouldn't end up happening anyway.
Today will put the finishing touches on the pork I made in the slow cooker last evening. I was going to make pulled pork with it but dh just cut it and ate it on a toasted bun without the bbq sauce during the night so I'll take the rest off the bones and cut the chicken meat off it's bones and use bones for broth. Then housework and then Crocheting with more Bible study in between.
Have a great day all. I hope you all get to do some things you enjoy and have a peaceful evening.

The cowl I'm working on now is a varation of the waffle stitch so is denser and is taking much longer than the other cowls. I know which one I'm doing next.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Talking of getting up in the night, I wake up almost every night between 3:00-4:00 A.M. Most of the time I can go back to sleep, but it sure makes me appreciate the old days when I slept for 8 hours straight.
I did get some hand quilting done last night and hope to do a little more this evening and every day.
I went to lunch today with my brother and his wife. The place we went to specializes in seafood so I got a crab cake, and it was. I also had Cole Slaw and Stewed Tomatoes (it's difficult to get these anymore and the ones they make are very good). My brother recently retired so I was treating them to lunch and we had a nice visit with our meal.
I'm glad to hear everyone is busy with doing some crafting and that you're all well. Take care!

CJ, congratulations to your brother on his retirement. I'm not fond of seafood but I do like cakes. I make salmon cakes sometimes for myself. Dh says he doesn't like them but I don't think he's actually ever tried one.And congrats to you on getting back into quilting mode. A little a day is all it takes to get things done but as we said, if you force yourself it makes it not enjoyable anymore so I agree that a person needs to be in the mood.
I've finished almost all my chores so am ready to move on to other things. Still have a couple things to do but will do those later.

Crab cakes are wonderful and like Ruth they are one of the few seafood items I will eat. Glad you got out with your brother and his wife to celebrate his retirement, CJ. Good to hear that you got some hand quilting done too!!
Ruth, I gather you will return to the first pattern for cowls- because they go a bit faster. Am I right?
Gotta go print out something for DH- Have a great night Ginny

I did reply but don't know what happened to it. What I said was that actually I'm going to make the rest of the cowls with patterns I haven't tried yet because I like a challenge and to overcome obstacles. When that fails I'll go to plan B which will be to go back to the easy pattern After having such a cold day today tomorrow is supposed to be at least 60 so looking forward to that before winter really sets in.
