Good morning all. Slept well last night even though I got the 'news' that I could be waiting forever for my surgery date to be set.
Carol happy that you are feeling better. I hope the cough leaves soon.
Other than a wellness exam for Rachel, our agenda is clear for today.
Temperature was 4 when I woke up. We are supposed to get light snow and then it's going to warm up for the rest of the week. We shall see.....
Wishing all a great day!

Ann, thanks for the start. I didn't see you had started the thread and started another one. Oops. Sorry you have to wait on the insurance company.
This website is acting up on me today. I tried posting a note here a few seconds ago and it didn't take.
I need to head to the grocery store.

I cannot believe they can't do better than that, but ....... I know "it is what it is" and that is just awful BBL. Make a great day!

Good Morning:
Ann: I am so sorry about such a long insurance wait. I wish they had a responsibility to make timely decisions. Of course you’re right, that since there is no action you need to/have to take you can only wait. So glad you slept. That makes such a difference. (((Ann)))
Chele: LOL on camping as motel without room service. I have to be honest that “camping” for me is in a trailer. Not rustic. When we first got a trailer, I was aware that I wanted my own toilet on wheels. Now it’s my own toilet, bed, and coffee maker on wheels…you get the idea. Not roughing it. Love the rose gardens. Sorry the site is being wonky for you today.
Carol: Nice that you’re up and about now. Did the weather warm up? I still have a cough but it’s not troublesome. Still I’m not quite feeling myself yet. It takes a while. I like to read too. In recent years I’ve started keeping a list of books I have read…in case I’m not sure…which happens.
Kathy: Hope your day is getting off to a good start.
Judy: I hope back to work hasn’t been too bad this week. I know how much you enjoyed your time off. I’m sure everyone was happy to see you.
Sue: Hope the kids can get outside today too. I know what you mean by “they really need it.” So good for them and their learning to be able to run and scream outdoors. And good for their teachers too! Just saw your post about sloppy out there. Safe driving to you!
Kathyrn: No telling if you have warm weather today or frigid with your wild TX weather swings.
The ice is mostly melted, not falling through the sky anymore. After it warms up I plan to venture out to see if it’s safe to walk. I feel “off” because of illness and weather. I hope to get back in a good groove, that feels right again soon. We did get “out of my igloo” and to the store yesterday. I got vegetables for soup. More ingredients for another of my Mad Soup Scientist concoctions.
Wishing everyone a good Tuesday.

Thank you all for your kind words and understanding nature. I'd be SO LOST without being able to come here in the safe Cafe to VENT!!!!!!
I'm trying to get my mind in a better place...it seems to wander a lot these days and gets stuck in that 'stinkin' thinkin' zone' Got to work on that.
Chele, I often have problems with this site. No clue why that is. No problem with not seeing the opening. I do that all the time myself!
Kathy yes, I feel the same way about sleep. Being sleep deprived only adds to the BS!
Gotta run will try to pop in later. If not, have a wonderful day!
LOL Carolyn on your mad Soup Scientist concoction. Carl NEVER eats my veggie soup. I'm fine with it LOL. Way I see it is it's 'more for me' LOL
Yuck to your messy weather, Sue. Here it's up to 18!!!!! Wowie is all I can say to that!

Good morning friends from another COLD day in New England. Like Ann has said, it is supposed to warm up to the 50's and rain, rain, rain starting tomorrow. I think the rain on top of snow is really yucky. I'd rather have the snow. Problem is that all the storm drains clog and the streets are flooded. I feel for the ski areas when that happens, too. So, I'd personally take the cold and keep the snow on the ground--maybe not SO cold, but freezing is fine. DH went to the Cape to check on things and it took him 3 hours to shovel to the door since they had about a foot or more of snow. Poor guy...he did not bring the snow blower with him. He wanted to be sure the heat is one and pipes are fine, etc. Plus, the gas vent pipe was covered in snow in the front of the house, so that had to be cleared. Winter is not a season, it's an occupation!
May I have permission to revise my current personality description status from extrovert to extrovert with limits? :-) I had a very nice visit/catch up with my niece at the sushi restaurant last night. She treated me which was very generous and sweet. It was a long visit, though. We met at 6 and left at 9:30 and I did very little talking. lol When I spend time with her, I have to sort of "steel" myself up because there is no light conversation--never is. It is all about relationships, issues, feelings, etc. She doesn't so much complaining but she is overanalyzing and sizing everyone up. She's a very brilliant person--always in gifted programs and I think she gets ahead of herself I her own head. Family relationships are complicated for her with step parents, etc. and she recently went through a divorce, so I'm glad I can be her sounding board. It is just that I left feeling very tired and drained. Maybe I am an introvert after all or a "social introvert." :-)
Ann, sorry you have to wait. I just hate the restrictive nature of insurance. Why does everything have to revolve around access? Ugh. Hoping things go fast.
Speaking of waiting, I still have received NO paperwork regarding the fraud claim on our checking account. I'd be waiting forever if not for the kindness of my bank reimbursing us before the fraud company.
Just had a professor visit me with his new adorable shelter doggie. What a sweet doggie and I am now covered in white dog hair. LOL It was worth it!
Have a great day everyone. I'll check in later.

And, Carolyn, wow on the ice falling. That's treacherous sounding. It must be quite a storm in your area. I have been watching on the news. I wasn't the one who recommended that book. Is it a good one? I'm writing it down. I started reading a new John Grisham last night for a nice escape activity.
I have my WI today. Not sure what it'll be since it was sushi and a glass of wine last night. We'll see but the home scale seemed fine this AM.

Hi Judy, glad you went with your niece and I'm sure she appreciates being able to vent overanalyzing and all of that with you. You must be a very good listener. I do get the feeling of being drained today. Be kind to yourself so as not to get run down physically and emotionally. A book is always a sure way to get a nice breather. Good luck with the TB.
I just got off the phone with a gal from my Weight Watcher meeting. She is such a love. For some reason she thought that I was having surgery tomorrow!!!!! No clue where she got THAT idea....I assured her that I'd be at Thursday's meeting with 'bells on' as my mom used to say.
Speaking of parents, today is dad's bday. I shall 'salute' him this evening.
Going to shut down now and just relax. My mind is weary.....
Talk tomorrow. Stay safe and warm, all.

Hi Ann, what a sweet WW friend. Glad you will see them all on Thursday, but wasn't she a doll to call you up? I hope you have some nice R&R time today. You so deserve it because, speaking of a sweet person, you always know the right thing to say.
Yes, I am glad I spent time with my niece. She needs good relationships and she needs to be heard. People are complicated and sometimes all we need is a good ear. Even if I did feel my battery draining down, down, down. LOL I wish her mother was not as flighty as she is. She's always been her mother's counselor, and I hate when that happens to kids.
I just visited with Dianne at lunchtime to check in on her. She is feeling more optimistic about her treatment going forward and has already started oral meds to combat the bone cancer. Plus she is going to Sloan Kettering in NYC for more counsel and advice which is terrific. I swear that place saved my brother's good friend's life. So advanced. Get this, though. Poor Dianne is awaiting approval on a second oral drug from her insurance. The monthly cost of this one prescription is $10,000 and she needs to take it a few years minimum. Yes, that's right...$10K. Can you imagine a pill costing so much and especially something to keep someone alive. It makes my blood boil. Someone is getting very rich at the expense of others' lives. Don't get me started because it's just like the epi-pen cost.
Oh well, calming down...lol Have a great day everyone.

Ann, I’m sorry you have to wait on surgery date. I know you want this behind you! When I had to wait on my DCIS surgery, it was no fun! After hearing about some of your temps, I’m not going to be complaining about our lows in the teens in Texas!
Chele, the website was acting up on me yesterday but seems to be without gremlins for me this morning.
Sue, if we had a snowstorm here in Texas school would be called off in a heartbeat. The northerners laugh at us, but I tell them they better not be out driving either because Texans have no clue how to drive in ice, and they will be up against sliding cars!
Carolyn, it’s back up to the upper 60’s today – just a beautiful clear day. You just never know about Texas weather. I did get my fleece Cuddl Duds yesterday, and I’m in HEAVEN!
Judy, thank goodness the bank followed through quickly! My daughter had to go through that, and it’s no fun.
Kathy, I just love you quote from Deepak Chopra – copying and saving.
I’ve gotten in my 6 mile walk. Emma was thrilled because I went without her on the river trail with a friend yesterday. She’s so spoiled to her walks! I’ve got a crockpot dinner going, and later I head to my PUMP class in town. For now I’m going to continue compiling info for IRS. Fun!!!!

Hi Everyone!
I changed my avatar today in honor of the Sequoia "Tunnel Tree" that fell at Calaveras Park yesterday. This is a picture of DH and me "inside" the tree in October. DDIL texted me yesterday to let me know the tree had fallen. I'm so glad we all were able to see it--and have our pictures taken in it--when we were in California last fall.
DH is golfing today, and I went out and had my hair cut and colored. It's always hard for me to find someone down here to do my hair. I've had several stylists that I like, but every time we come back the next year they have moved on. The gal who did it today did a nice job, and I'll be going back to her next month.
Sue, did you have school today? I heard from my kids that our school was closed for a snow day. Be careful if you venture out for your hair appointment.
Ann, I'm glad you slept well last night. How sweet of your WW friend to call you thinking that your surgery was scheduled for tomorrow. You are such a sweet person yourself, I'm sure they all love you at your WW meeting. You sure do have a lot of January birthdays with your Mom, Uncle Tony, and now your Dad. I think it's wonderful that you remember them and salute them on their birthdays. I like concentrating on the birthday rather than the day they died. The birthdays are much happier memories.
Judy, it's so good of you to be there for your niece. I think some people do just drain energy from us, even if it's unintentional. Your niece is lucky to have you in her life, especially since it sounds like her mother has issues of her own. I hope your weigh-in today was good.
Carolyn, I'm sorry to hear that you still have a cough hanging on. I sure hope you are able to get back in the groove and feel like your old self again soon. I'm glad to hear that ice is no longer falling from the sky! Thankfully our temps on the Gulf Coast have warmed up considerably. It's 68 today and we'll have 70s the rest of the week.
Waving to Kathy, Chele, Kathryn, Art, and anyone else who stops by. Wishing everyone a good day.
Carol

I am SO VERY HAPPY that I checked back in here to read all your wonderful posts. Thank you for sharing! Judy nobody wants to EVER get me started on health care issues. 'Nuff said. I agree with you 100% on the costs of medications. When I was on tamoxifen (first breast cancer back in 2009) I got a letter from caremark saying that they were no longer covering that medication...say what? ? Come to find out, they had ME confused with someone ELSE!!!!! Taking a VERY deep breath here...... Kathryn yeah to your 6 mile walk. For exercise and to calm down and get my head in a better place, I put on KC and the Sunshine band and danced my fool heart out! Carl was off to the vet with Queen Rachel so I had the house to myself! If any neighbors were lurking I would be in straight jacket LOL. Carol, LOVE the new picture. Thanks for sharing. It's always wonderful to treat yourself to the cut/color. I know I'm all about the hair LOL. Well, time for me to unplug once again. Take care and hope y'all sleep well!

Good Evening, WW Friends ~
I am having a very enjoyable time catching up with all of you. I had quite the day today. Our schools were open – the only ones in the area and we all wondered WHY?!? Nonetheless, we even took the kids outdoors for recess. Not bad for 2-3 recess, just a lot (5+”) of wet snow. Then we took the K-1 out after their lunch and within minutes it began drizzling. So we had to line them up and take them back indoors. You wouldn’t believe the 1-million questions they had… <LOL> When I left school I called the Beauty Shop and my hairdresser (who is also the owner as well as a very old friend) asked me not to come. They are half hour north of us and it was hovering right around the freezing mark. I took her up on the offer of doing it next Tuesday instead. She was very dear when she said “if anything happened to you driving out here, I would feel terrible”. Instead I came home and found myself at loose ends so I went shopping at Meijer and fulfilled my short list and a few extra items. I really went out because I wanted to look for a 3-way CFL bulb for my new lamp – but ended up with a 3-way LED instead. Does the job – quite nicely! Anyone have a preference between CFL and LED??
Carolyn ~ My VBF and her DH are campers, but they have a huge (upsized twice) travel trailer, queen sized beds, bathroom w/shower, microwave, coffee maker, and flat screen TV’s. You get the idea. I tell her she is not really a camper at all. But she enjoys taking the grandkids and I understand why. Hope you got out for your walk today … ice all gone??
Judy ~ I think it is wonderful that you can be the listening ear for your niece. Everyone needs one of those, and too many people don’t seem to have that trusted “someone” they can bare their souls to. I am very fortunate to have those in my life and can’t imagine what it would be without them. I could feel your tiredness when the event was over, but I’m sure she went home tap dancing. You are a gem!! Good luck on your WI.
Kathryn ~ So happy to hear that Emma got “her turn” to walk with you today. I can just picture her “smile”. P.S. There were a lot of Michiganders on the road today who should not have been.
Carol ~ I love that picture. DH and I saw the picture (without you) on the news last night and it was great to see it again. So sad about the tree. When we went to Aruba, we arrived the day after the “natural bridge” collapsed. We saw pictures, but never saw the real thing – just the ruins. So sad when landmarks disappear …. So happy you got your hair done.
Kathy ~ I’m with you – if I get a good night’s sleep I can face anything. I slept well last night and hope to again tonight but I’m having more sinus pain today than yesterday, so it remains to be seen.
We ordered Jet’s pizza tonight and DH made a delicious salad for us. The last few days whenever he sees a pizza commercial on TV he says “Pizza?” so tonight was perfect for it. Time to go relax in front of the TV. I hope to be able to stay up and watch “This Is Us” but if not, will catch it on On Demand during the week. We are having a huge wind storm tonight, so there may be an issue with the power but I hope not.
Talk to you all tomorrow.
