Good Morning Train Riders,
This morning it was 28º (feels like 21º) and going up to 34º and cloudy with wind NW 26 mph today. Right now we have freezing rain and it is nasty outside. MJ is on the way to take the girls to school in Lincoln and King is on his way to work in Omaha.
Now I’ll have my breakfast and then get the kitchen cleaned and the family room picked up. MJ and I have been enjoying watching some of the old TV programs on ME TV while the girls are at school. Later in the day we can watch MASH and some of the others we like.
Hannah was supposed to have a class at the chiropractor last night but when we got there the receptionist told us the class was cancelled. MJ had dropped us off so Hannah called her right away and she just went around the block and picked us up.
King was to be the announcer for the basketball games in the evening but they were cancelled for some reason so he came right home from work instead of going to the school. He said the trip to his place of work in Omaha takes an hour and 10 minutes and he said the traffic wasn’t too bad.
Maxine calendar today: I dress for success. If everything’s covered, it’s a success.
Another Japan memory: Continued from yesterday: I left everyone sitting in hot and muggy Yokohama Harbor. Early in the morning we watched Japanese workers wearing shoes that looked like socks with the big toe separated from the other toes coming aboard the ship to unload the cargo. Along with them were 3 missionaries from our church group. Since it was breakfast time they were invited to join us to eat and we were able to get acquainted with them. One was the business manager for the mission and he took a look at the forms we had filled out for customs and ripped them up. He said the way we had done them we would have had to pay a lot of duty. He knew what needed to be done to avoid that. One of the things that came in our name was a car that was to be used by all the language students and that included 3 couples and a single man. It was a Ford sedan and it was decided that the couple who had a one year old little girl would be the ones who would keep it at their house. The rest of us could use it when we needed to. To be continued . . .
