This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year Olds board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Late start today because I came into the office a little early because we had a training webinar. We are switching the company we use for our credit reports, and needed to be trained on the new system. Very similar, but it has a good feature, and I see they charge less for it too. Seeing as that is included in our fees, and sometimes multiple credit reports are run before we close, not to mention the fact that we run credit on people and don't close the loan, it can save the company a huge amount of money.
I noticed that Bookbub has Loving Frank on sale for $1.99. If you haven't read it, it is a good one. It is historical fiction about Frank Lloyd Wright. I read it right before I went out to Scottsdale, Arizona, and that is where he had his 2nd home, which was interesting to see. It would have been better if it wasn't 106 degrees though.
Jill, good to see you pop in. Hang in there, hope all is as well as it can be.
I really enjoyed the cod wrapped in parchment that I made yesterday. It had something in it called freekah, which is a grain. They actually gave me too much of that, but seeing as I tracked everything, it was fine. I cut the butter in half, no need for so much, and used the ff yogurt sauce I made for the chicken. I like the sauce, so didn't mind using it for both. It has lemon and garlic mixed in, so if you ever need anything, it's so easy to make, and you can add other spices as well. I added the zest and juice from 1/2 lemon, and a grated garlic clove. You can also add diced cucumber to make it more of a tzatziki, or dill for a dill sauce for salmon. I might change it up a bit tonight and add some cumin or other spice.

Dd’S concert was ok. The band 2 and orchestra 2 were pretty bad but dd’s class was very good and so was Orchestra 3. DD had a brief (4 measure?) piccolo solo which we actually heard - since she plays the flute we normally can't hear her unless it is a section of music where the flutes are on their own.
Robin – dd’s high school is over 100 years old and I don’t know when the auditorium was remodeled last but it has been a very long time. It’s a beautiful room but the seats are not comfortable.
Snow overnight - we had a couple of inches on the ground when we left the concert but this morning I think I cleared about 4 inches from the driveway. It has since turned to rain and now I am very nervous about the driving. Leaving for lunch in a few - I suppose it's probably ok now but on the way home from work it could be very icy. DD is going to the swim meet but dh wouldn't let her take her car this morning - he drove her - so she has a ride to the meet and then home with father of one of the boys.

Marsha, I played the flute when I was younger. I actually own a sterling silver open holed flute. I lent it to my girlfriend when her DD was taking lessons. I have asked for it back, but she has never given it to me. I really have to ask her again.
More than hating snow, I hate ice. We are having a warming trend here right now, so the snow that is here should melt. It has warmed up now to 37, but it was 22 in the morning. Should get to around 50 for the next 2 days.

Robin that flute would be very expensive and I think your friend has a lot of nerve not returning it right away. DD still has a closed hold student flute. Since her school is in a low economic district she was never pressured to upgrade. She played a loaner open hole (from her band teacher) in middle school but when we moved her for IB she was no longer with the wealthier kids and it hasn't been an issue. I don't think she will ever touch her flute again after high school, not even sure she will play next year, so I'm glad we never invested in something better.

Marsha, you can imagine how old mine is, so certainly wasn't such a big deal back then. Her DD is now 32, so I am sure she isn't playing the flute. I should e-mail her ask for it back now that I am thinking about it. She is one of the friends I play mah jongg with, so I see her all the time.

Good afternoon. We are so glad we did not have to be out and about today! Marsha, hope your drive home is safe...did you hear about that traffic death today on I-41, by Van Boxtel RV? So sad. Marsha, my DD1 played flute from middle school on. She loved her flute (nothing fancy, we bought it from Henri's music, back in the day) She loved being in the marching band. She still has it, and plays it sometimes for her daughters. My DD2 tried taking up the trumpet...yeah, that was a big fail. We still have that trumpet in the basement closet. Maybe one of the grands will become interested in it. I was so hopeful, when she decided to take up trumpet, in middle school, because I love big band music, but she lost interest. What school does she go to...East? I graduated from West, DD1 also from West, and DD2 from West DePere.
Robin, I was tempted to get Loving Frank, but I refuse to pay for books. Before I would pay for an ebook, I would go to the library and get a "old fashioned" book. My hand that I broke the thumb on last spring probably would not be happy, since that healed, per the specialists prediction, that hand is so full of arthritis, it stinks! We were out earlier today, DH blowing the snow, as I went behind him with the shovel, cleaning up, and the pain was at least a "10" on the pain chart. So fun getting old! Your cod....LOL, I was drooling!!!! I guess I missed your story about it, was it a Blue Apron? Would love to see a picture of your flute! I agree with Marsha.
How is everyone doing? I hate missing a couple days.
How about those Packers?! And, how about those spoiled brats, the Giants? So amazing, between that turd putting his hand thru the wall at Lambeau, and the team trashing the plane. Why does the NFL put up with that crap? And that idiot that took out Jordy!!!!!! GGGRRR!!!
We went to the Y yesterday, today was working in the driveway, since of course up here, we got about 6" of snow, then since it warmed up to 35, switched to rain...our driveway looks like an ice rink. DD1 posted on FB that when she went to get DGD4 from preschool and just sitting at a stop sign, the water flooding the streets and ice underneath that was moving her car out into the intersection! Green Bay's Dept of Public works put out a emergency help to all the citizens to "adopt and inlet" because the storm drains are all plugged with snow, from previous plowings, but now with the rain, streets are flooding, because there is nowhere for the rain to go.
Need to start getting dinner going, have a great and safe evening.

Karen, I heard about the Giants trashing the plane this morning. I didn't read it in the newspaper, so have to look again. Curious if they buried that here. Yes, it was a Blue Apron meal. Tonight I am having the chicken cutlet again that I made Sunday night, tomorrow I will have to cod. Thursday I might actually cook something for myself!

Hi Robin, Marsha and Karen. We had snow overnight but it changed to rain sometime today. My sister and my niece played the flute in school. I never played any instrument. Robin I would definitely try to get your flute returned. I am at work and then going to my Dad's house tonight. My sister stayed last night. I really do need to make some time to go to the library. I need a goid good book to read. Karen sorry about the pain. Hope your hand is not hurting as much tonight. Robin your dinner last night sounds good. I hope everyone has a good evening. Take care.
