Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Such sad news about the shootings yesterday. I just sometimes feel that I can't bear to hear about one more of these incidents. That these people had to lose their lives just for going to church. All the deaths just make me feel numb to the pain sometimes, and I think that's really sad that we have to make ourselves not feel anything when this happens Hope you are all getting in some crafting and enjoying nice Fall weather.

Good morning Ginny and CJ and to Meg and Phyl who haven't stopped in yet.
We already have 9 views. People love us
DH and I made a spur of the moment trip to his bank and Walmart. It was 42 degrees when we left home but then when we came out of Walmart it was snowing so instead of going anywhere else we came home which was actually our plan anyway but that really decided it for sure. I found a couple nice gifts for the dgds in INd which will be for Feb and March birthdays. They were marked down and a great price. I found one on Wed when we were there too so I have two nice things for the one dgd and one other smaller gift so I'm pretty much all set with her gifts because I like to send two larger ones and a couple smaller things and I already have small things. Then if there's something she wants me to crochet for her I'll do that too.
I hope you are all having a good day so I agree with CJ on that.
For the rest of the day I'll probably just sit and crochet. Do all of you have any plans?
CJ, yes these mass killings seem to be more and more frequent. It's frightening and horrifying.

Hello everyone, The weather is very nice today though the sun felt really hot when I went to pick Devin up from school. I had to stop at the store and buy a large plastic container to store the crafting I am working on. The afghan is growing but I am at a standstill until I go to Hobby Lobby which should be this week sometime.
Ginny, thank you for getting up early and starting us on another week.
cj, Yes it is very sad about the recent killings in Texas, so many people from the same family. It is just so easy for someone to enter a church because they are always open to everyone.
Ruth, I am glad you got to the store before it started to snow and that you got home before it got too bad. I don't like driving in the snow but it looks very pretty when it first falls. I think it will give you a good excuse to stay home and crochet. This is going to be a busy week and I don't like feeling pressured.
Phyl, where are you?
I am going to bed earlier tonight and then try to get up earlier in the morning. So I wish you all a good night.

Meg, it's good seeing you and I hope you have a restful sleep Sorry you have to go to the yarn store in order to finish working on your afgan. I know you're trying to use up the yarn stash you have but mostly when we are working on a project we don't have what we need in our stash no matter how big that stash is.
Ginny, have a good day at work tomorrow
CJ, I hope you have a wonderful day to and can do some things that you enjoy.
Phyl, I hope you're doing ok.

Good morning!
Got the day off from work today for Election Day. Its not a day off however, as we have DGS here. I did get to sleep in late this am which was wonderful. Am hoping that my body will adjust to the change in time. It usually takes about 2 weeks to get used to the time change.
THe more I hear about this incident in Texas the more I am sickened by it. Mental illness is such a large problem- and we have become too sensitive to ask for help for someone who seems in need. Its a fine line between invasion of privacy and protection of society.
Gotta help out with DGS- I will be ironing the top of the tree skirt a bit later G

Happy Tuesday everyone. I have a hard time keeping track of what day it is so I thought yesterday was election day and even called the bank to make sure they were open. She must have thought I was nuts.
So Ginny, you must have the while top done then right? Good work! I still don't have the latest cowl done. I think one more row will do it then I have to do a whipstitch the ends together because it's not make in the round. I have two more to go then the balls and rattle. I also need to work on dh's scarf and finish it. I think it's almost done then I have to cast off which is definitely not my forte but at least it's narrow so not much casting off is needed. And it's a thick plush yarn so my poor casting off won't show.
Dh went into the attic space to check the chimney and I worked on the dining room. The dining room is where I keep my plants because it has floor to ceiling windows so gets a lot of light. I had a basil plant in there and a habenero plant. Due to the bladder problem I had I didn't keep up on the pollinating of the blossom. There was hundreds of blossoms and we ended up getting only one pepper which was stunted because it just started forming because it then started to be cold. I harvested the basil and put it to dry and cut down and pulled out the pepper plant. Even thought it didn't get peppers it sure was a pretty plant. I also have house plants in there and had to move them all away from the window because of it being to cold right up close so then I vacuumed in there but now the hose is plugged I think so I have to go back and check that out. I hope I can sit and crochet the rest of the day after I finish the dining room work. Not that I'm going to do anything extensive but I did move the family pictures that were in boxes in there. They've still been there from ds and dgd's visit in Sept.
OH I was wondering if anyone else knew they made yarn out of possum fur. I never knew that till day before yesterday when I was looking at yarn and saw it mentioned. I'm glad they do use something of those poor little ugly animals. I know there are people that actually eat possum and there were a lot of them in Arkansas.
Well gonna go check that vacuum hose..see you later

Hello everyone, This morning I went to have my new glasses adjusted. As I was near Hobby Lobby I stopped and bought 3 skeins of yarn which should finish my afghan. I think I am about 1/2 way now. So I think that would count as crafting for today. But I hope I can find time to crochet later.
Ginny, that is great that you were able to sleep in today. I got up early this morning and now I am sleepy. It will be interesting to see how the election goes.
Ruth, you are not the only one having a hard time keeping up with the day of the week I quite often have to think about what day it is. I am also getting more forgetful. I used to have house plants but don't have any. anymore. I need to vacuum and I won't get it done sitting here. I am going yo have my carpets cleaned tomorrow.
Bye for now.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope you enjoyed your day off and your time with your DGD. Sounds like the tree skirt is almost done. Ruth - I've never heard of possum fur yarn. I love to watch the Beverly Hillbillies and Granny is always making some kind of possum dish Meg - Hope the glasses are feeling good now and that everything goes well with your carpet cleaning tomorrow. It was a cold rainy day here, didn't get much above 40 degrees. I was glad to stay home. I have to go out tomorrow for shopping and errands. I made some shortbread cookies today. They were O.K., but not so great I'd be in a rush to make them again. It was an easy recipe though. Take care everyone!

Meg, I'm glad you were able to get your new glasses adjusted and the yarn to complete the afgan. Now you're all set. I was thinking that I need to get up earlier too. I did that for awhile then revered back to my old habits so now only get up earlier when I need to go out. Yes it's great that Ginny got to sleep in a little. I'd hate to get up that early.
CJ, I've thought a few times about making shortbread cookies but I know I wouldn't be able to handle eating them in a responsible way so I stick to making the ones I don't care for for dh to eat. It was cold here today too. I don't think it got out of 30's except for during the night when it was even colder...down in the teens.
I still haven't got to crocheting. I unclogged my vacuum cleaner hose then ds called just to talk. When I saw caller ID I thoght he'd called to say that the baby was born but nope...no labor yet. Hopefully Thursday but we'll be happy to have him arrive at anytime.
Have a good evening everyone. Ginny, I hope you had a good time with the grandchildren. Did you get those spiders made you were going to make with them? Now time for Thanksgiving crafts.

Good Evening! Ruth, well glad you got your house plants straightened out. Think what happened to you happens to many- where you begin the growing season with high hopes and dreams- only to find that some kind of predicament prevents the plants from getting the attention they need. Praying that your bladder situation goes into remission forever- and that you have a great year with peppers and basil next year. I guess your DDIL is a wonderful mother as this baby is not interested in being born! Ha ha ha.....just hope and pray that all goes well when the time is right. Never heard of yarn from possum fur. We do have an LL Bean cookbook that has recipes for possum, woodchuck, squirrel.....you name it. No, I do not eat any of those. CJ- is it supposed to be warmer in your area tomorrow? (Hope so!). Hope those errands and shopping go well. You won’t be near a craft store, will you ? . Good thing you have the self control to make the cookies but not over indulge. And making cookies that you do not love sounds like something I would do also. Its a good way to make sure you do not over eat. Meg- nothing better than clean carpets! Nice to have them done just before Thanksgiving. Will you be cooking for your family for Thanksgiving? Glad you got all your yarn for the afghan. Indeed that does count as crafting.....but it still would be nice if you could get some crocheting time in today. Wacky day here- DGS refused to nap, so its made for an interesting day. Dh and I took him for a walk- he fell asleep on the way home, but woke up when we brought him inside. Its supposed to go down to 29 degrees here tonight, and its also supposed to lightly snow....so I am glad I got all my outside plants in. I have a huge dwarf orange tree and a lemon tree that come in for the winter- proud to say I lugged them in all by myself as neither Dh nor Ds seemed interested in helping. Got that area cleaned up for the winter too- its right by where I sew so the area becomes a bit crowded in the winter- but the trees smell lovely when they bloom (the orange tree will be blooming soon). Yes, the tree skirt top is done and I pressed it so its ready to put the border on. Will be watching the YouTube in a little bit to refresh my memory of how much to cut for the border strips. I have to trim it to sort of round off the edges (it never becomes round, but gets a more round shape) and then add the binding, batting and backing. 2 years ago when I made one for myself, I watched the YouTube (Missouri Star Quilting) a million times and she skips right over how to assemble the darned thing. So, I assembled it using the turn and flip method- its only a tree skirt and who is going to scrutinize that I did not put the binding on the “right way”. Pretty sure that is how I will finish this also as the edges do not have any 90 degree angles (its a squared off circle shape, if that makes any sense). Yes, I will be stippling this one- the one I made for myself I quilted by top stitching stars in each block. It came out cute enough. Dh and I voted.....DGS helped with that too. Guess I have blabbed enough for today. Hey, Phyl we miss you ! GInny

Yes Ruth, we made the spiders last week. DGS sat in his car seat on the way home playing with it singing “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. So cute Next week we are making turkeys from Pine cones and tongue depressors. Ginny

I saw Phyl on the over 50's board so she's ok. Guess she's just busy. The turkey's sound like fun and I too was humming Itsy Bitsy Spider last week. I'm a little large for a 2 year old though. Guess I'm going thru second childhood.Bet dgs was a big help in voting The lemon and orange trees sound wonderful but it would be too cold in my house. As I say that I do think we talked about the trees before and I said the same thing. I can imagine how great they smell when blooming. I wish I could have one. Maybe when I move to the old folk's home I can have one in my room

Ginny, I meant to thank you for the kind wishes on the bladder issue. I would never have believed this condition was that painful if I hadn't experienced it myself.
Didn't get any crafting done at all yesterday except to carry my yarn and hooks downstairs and look at the pattern for the next cowl...well that isn't entirely true now that I think of it because I did start the new cowl even though I didn't finish the other yet. Still have that last row (I think) and the whip stitching to do yet. I'll get on it and don't know of any plans for today so maybe I can get that one done and a good start on my next one.Do need to get to catching up on my Bible study and reading. That should be first on my list but last couple days I slacked off. I do love reading the Bible and find even the "boring" parts interesting...those parts being Chronicles and Kings where they have so many lists. They are interesting and do provide lessons that are applicable even today

Hi everyone, Looks like rain could arrive any minute. As I look out the window I see the wind is picking up and the trees are really starting to sway. I hope I can get Devin home from school before it rains. I got my carpets cleaned this morning. It took about an hour and he did a good job. I am going to do some painting and get some new carpet in the near future. We will do one room at a time.DGD#1 and her DH will be here late Thursday so I want to be tidy. They will be here about a week.
I did some crafting while they cleaned my carpets. I had 3 skeins of new yarn which kept me out of his way as I rolled them into balls. I guess that counts as crafting. I don't know if I will have time this evening to do any more. I got up really early this morning and I could do with a nap. When I get over tired I eat too much. That's not good. Now I must go and get Devin. Bye for now.
