neen , pinotgrigio , Thanks for the replies. I'm experimenting with essential oils (peppermint and lavender to ease the headaches). Headaches are daily although not 24/7. Got an appointment with the endocrinologist ... I swear you could die as a new patient before you get to see a doctor---7 weeks away. Not as bad as the neurologist. I called in March and they can see me in August... New Health Care Plan..... make it too expensive and make patients wait so long they just curl up and die.

pbnj - my endo recently retired and I'm on a 4 month waitlist to see the endo who took over her practice!!! It's insane! Luckily she's still prescribing my meds and monitoring my bloodwork, but an actual appointment will take months!

I agree it could be the fillers and you may not be able to take it. I can't even take the brand name Synthroid, all of the fillers make me break out in hives. I have to take Tirosint, it has 4 ingredients and my body is OK with those. I would ask to try something else and see if the headaches stop if you can afford to do so. Having headaches all day is not worth it.
Let us know what you discover!

There isn't and endo here who will see thyroid patients, so I am at the mercy of my primary. He's good, but very conservative. I will do my dangest to stay on this dose (200 mcg) of synthroid if it kills me! LOL So far so good! pbnj, have you tried yoga? I find when I'm stressed and get headaches (mine are mostly from stress) that yoga and use lavender oil seems to help.

pbnj, Glad things are getting better. Just hang in there, and I bet it will work itself out if you can find the right combination. Before meds, I would fall asleep on the couch every evening, just could not keep my eyes open. Again, dr was just saying it was the norm for my age 50ish. However, I was going thru depression and menopause at the same time and the depression did not get diagnosed until later. No wonder I was a mess and then to have thyroid issues too! As for med fillers, yes, make sure you take a look at the "fillers". There's a reason why they are cheaper. Not to say that all generics are bad, but it does make a difference. I would just look at main ingredients, they are all the same right? Little did I know. As for supplements there is a big difference. Never noticed fillers before until my sister told me that my bil who had a heart transplant was told not to take certain brand name meds because of the fillers. Lo and behold, yep some meds and many supplements contain different fillers. Fish oil and omega 3 that worked for my hot flashes did not work when I got a different brand. Didn't dawn on me why until oh, contained different fillers. So now I try to buy supplements with that usp emblem, cost a bit more but makes me feel good about better quality.

Me, again... with questions... First bloodwork came back and numbers are in the normal range again. My doctor had upped my meds to the next dosage 2 weeks before the bloodwork and I've noticed a definite increase in "lack of sluggishness". When you get back to 'normal' range do they then lower your meds or even stop them? How much messing around with numbers do they do?

They should keep you at that level if it is working for you. Are they use the .3 to 3 scale and not the .5 to 5 scale?

mattlaura , Texans136 (Luann) , How can I find out about the fillers used in different meds? I'm not finding anything in my online searching. Thanks If you're looking at supplements and such from the pharmacies they are on the labels near the bottom and may be stated as the "inactive" ingredients. As far as real prescription meds, perhaps the pharmacist might have sheets on them?

Hey all! Just wanted to see how all my thyroid issue buddies were doing! I had labs drawn last week. At the beginning of May I FINALLY got my doctor to up my Synthroid to 200 mcg so this was to see where my numbers were. Of course I played phone tag for two days with the nurse and she finally left me a message saying my meds needed "tweaking" so the doctor is keeping me on 200 mcg, but doesn't want me to take it on Tuesday or Thursday. HUH? Since I didn't talk to her I have no idea what my numbers are, but in one message I left her I asked her to please send me my results with the new lab slip to have them drawn again in 6 weeks. *sigh* Seriously, I feel better than I have felt in a LONG LONG time! I'm not having any symptoms of being hyper (rapid weight loss, heart palps, nothing)! I really hope he doesn't want to change my meds! Once I have my results, I'll let you all know what they were! I hope you all are doing well!

Hey neen, did you hear back on your tests? I am struggling with mine lately, I am so tired of the struggle. But I think we are close, again and it will even out just in time for Fall. Sigh. Oh well onward right?

Hi mattlaura! Yes, I heard back and my TSH was .25 (low, barely, down from 5.69), Total T3 99.5, Free T4 1.3 (up from 1.2). He didn't test my FT3 ;/ So he switched up my Synthoird and don't take it on Tuesday or Thursday and I retest again in August. I'm praying he doesn't change it! I haven't felt this good in a LONG LONG time! Not much change in my weight, but I can deal with that because I feel good! It really is a strange thing! Other notable things from my labs is that my total cholesterol was down from 224 to 198! I'll take it! I also added Vitamin D3 to my supplements and that also went up ( from 18.8 to 46). Hang in there! As you know it's a HARD HARD road. *hugs*

I've recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia ... Not really sure what all this means (they are taking more bloodtests) I refused new medications as I'm still dealing with migraine medication changes and didn't want to add anything new yet. Not sure if this has anything to do with Thyroid issues. Ain't getting old grand??
