Hi, I'm back again, already. LOL! The person's whose calcium numbers are high. My numbers started climbing suddenly until I got in the 10.9 range! I couldn't figure out what was going on? The Yahoo RT3 Adrenal group helped me with a suggestion to start taking vitamin K2-M7 around 40 mg for every 1000 IUs of vitamin D3 I was taking. That slowly lowered my calcium number back into the normal range.

Can your thyroid meds needs change with the seasons? Yes! Byron Richards, Nutritionist of the online "wellnessresources dot com" has written numerous articles such as "Body Temperature and Thyroid Problems" with a section on "Fall Season May Trigger Thyroid-Induced Mood Problems."
I personally need almost a 1/3 to 1/2 more of my daily dosage starting each Fall until mid-Spring.

Several folks have been talking about having goiters and/or nodules on their thyroid, you know there are natural treatments for those. The "wait and see "method just means the drs. will wait until you can't swallow and/or breath then recommend destroying (RAI) or removing your thyroid.
stopthethyroidmadness dot com says in it's "help! my thyroid's enlarged" section that natural treatments involve stuff like testing for food intolerances which may be causing antibodies that make your immune system attack your thyroid. OR there could be something called molecular mimicry where you body views some foods as invaders and it looks like thyroid tissue so your body attacks your thyroid! Food stuffs like wheat, gluten, corn, dairy are often the problem. You can take vitamins/supplements to help your body heal your thyroid. It maybe an Iodine deficiency, or undiagnosed or undertreated thyroid issue. Low dose naltrexone or natural desiccated thyroid may work, as well as iron or cortisol supplements. A Naturopathic, Integrative or Functional Doctor can help with finding and fixing the cause(s) of the autoimmune attacks on your thyroid.

Thyroid problems are OFTEN un-diagnosed and under-treated!
-What we have learned from each other:
1. Never settle for "normal", insist on OPTIMAL.
2. ALWAYS ask for copies of your lab results. They have to give them to you.
3. If you're not happy with your care SPEAK UP or find another doctor.
4. Be Persistent! Giving up means compromising your health. This is about YOU, not the doctor.
5. Your medicine may not be the only treatment for Hypothyroid. There are other options that work well, and T3 meds to help restore balance. Synthroid is a T4 only med.
-BASIC LABS TO REQUEST: Please note all tests do not apply to all people depending on your individual situation.
-FREE T3
Note the word FREE, not total. Most people seem to feel best with numbers at mid to upper range
-FREE T4
Note the word FREE, not total. Most people seem to feel best with numbers in the top 1/3 of the range
-TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, it a pituitary hormone)
-For Hashimoto's:
TPO (thyroid peroxidase antibodies)
TgAb (antithyroglobulin antibodies)
TSI antibodies
-FERRITIN--most people seem to do best with levels around 70-90
-B12--based on research, this should be at least 800, and 1000 is better.
-VITAMIN D (make sure it's the test for 25 (OH)D)
-Other supplemental tests relating to adrenals are:
ASI (Adrenal Test Index)
AM Cortisol
ACTH
-If you post your lab reports, PLEASE list your own lab reference ranges as well, as they all vary.
-Our thread theme song is: "I Won't Back Down

Thought I remembered we use to bump this intro with each post.
So I've been trying since 2003 to get my thyroid meds into my cells that lead me to try different thyroid T4 meds and dosages, then natural dessicated thyroid meds, and then T3-only meds. I have also tried taking iron supplements which didn't work out and only raised my iron saturation and serum a point or two but raised my blood glucose, ferritin, A1c and CRP into high, very dangerous levels! Seeing a Naturopathic Doctor help me figure out I have total body inflammation, systematic yeast over growth, intestinal dysbiosis, estrogen dominance, heavy metal toxicity and food intolerances to gluten, wheat, corn/grains, soy, and dairy! Yikes that was really eye opening. So I've been trying to my inflammation and ferritin down, and iron serum and saturation up. Going gluten, wheat, corn, soy and dairy free has been challenging, for sure, but I'm slowly seeing improvement in my FT3, TSH, RT3, CRP and Ferritin. I've been taking my daily temps and I'm averaging 98.4 these days, which is amazing since I could hardly get 96.8 for most of my life. I'm so excited I have lose about 41 lbs since rejoining Ww in May 2000. For years I just lost and gained the same 7 or 8 lbs.! And I was losing it a quarter of lb. at a time. Talk about frustrating. I recently had to be treated for a dangerous colon infection called, C-Difficile, and after numerous rounds of antibiotics am finally clear of C-diff! I've had to do all the things listed in the intro especially be persistent! And even "fire" some doctors but it's been worth it to get to where I am. Judy
